Xenophyllic is Florida-based death metal band Encephalitic Punishment's second album, released on December 3rd 1990; only half a year between the band's debut; Beyond The Grave. The album begins to show signs of the band's development into a more technical sound; with the instrumentation becoming more prominent and the introduction of different time signatures. It is followed by 1992's Kindred In Blood.

The album was awarded "Album of the Year" by Death Metal magazine in January 1991; though the album was released the previous year it was still eligible as it had been released in October. It had since become a classic and is commonly voted the band's best record, praising the songwriting and musicianship. It is regarded, alongside Death's 1992 Human, as being highly influential on the development of technical death metal.

Xenophyllic spawned a successful song for the band; "The Key To Humanity", which received significant airplay and a music video. This support allowed the band to embark on a large tour through North America, Europe and Australia.
