Western alligators are subspecies of the American alligator and are one of the only species of crocodilians indigenous to Western USA areas, including California. It resembles a Florida alligator (its close relative), but is slightly browner in color and is about the size of a Nile crocodile.

These Western Alligators are in Feather river's resovoir near Marysville, California.
