War Chicken is a 2008 3D American/British/Australian computer animated crossover comedy feature film.

Directed by Gary Trousdale, Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, The film stars the voices of Zach Braff, Michael Caine, Ricky Gervais, Geoffrey Rush, Emily Mortimer, John Cleese, Rupert Everett, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, Catherine Tate, Lee Evans, Tim Curry, Julie Walters and Michael Keaton with other voices by Ben Kingsley, Kiefer Sutherland, Bill Nighy, Ray Winstone, Lee Evans, Hugh Laurie, Joanna Lumley, Holly Hunter, James Garner, Hugh Jackman, Hugo Weaving, Christopher McDonald, Malin Akerman, Bill Pullman, Ian McShane, Nathan Lane, Steve Zhan, Lance Henriksen, Pip Torrens, Rik Mayall and Olivia Williams.

Production

Zach Braff lend his voice in the film Chicken Little, while Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, House of Sand and Fog, Sexy Beast) will voice General Keyserlingk, the feared German falcon leader. Also, other voices were officially announced were Tom Baker, Jim Broadbent (Moulin Rouge, Bridget Jones’s Diary), Catherine Tate (The Catherine Tate Show, Doctor Who), Rupert Everett (An Ideal Husband, My Best Friend’s Wedding), Hugh Laurie (Stuart Little), John Cleese (Monty Python), John Hurt (Harry Potter, Elephant Man), Ray Winstone (The War Zone, Sexy Beast), James Garner (Maverick), Holly Hunter (The Incredibles), Tim Curry (Legend, It), Lance Henriksen (Alien), Morgan Freeman (Batman Begins), Helen Mirren (The Queen), Emilie de Ravin (LOST), Steve Zhan, Rachael Taylor (Transformers) and Ricky Gervais, star of the BBC comedy hit series The Office.

Casting

In March 8, 2007, Zach Braff will play the character again while new performances voice their characters in the film were Ben Kingsley, who was cast in May 2007, plays the evil General Keyserlingk, the feared German falcon leader. And in June 2007, Michael Caine was cast along with Morgan Freeman and Australian actress Rachael Taylor. Sarah Michelle Gellar was also rumoured to join the voice cast later this week, but she was officially cast for nine days.

While Hugh Jackman, Hugo Weaving and Christopher McDonald were officially signed on the voice cast, Lee Evans and Emmy winner Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy, Crash) were both officially signed in on June 26, 2007.

On July 13, 2007, Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh and Tom Baker was also sign in the join the cast along with Jim Broadbent (Moulin Rouge, Bridget Jones’s Diary), Catherine Tate (The Catherine Tate Show, Doctor Who), Joanna Lumley, Bill Nighy, Hugh Laurie (Stuart Little), Tim Curry, Ray Winstone, Ricky Gervais (BBC’s The Office), Laurence Fishburne (What’s Love Got to Do with It, The Matrix Trilogy), Tamsin Egerton and Emilie de Ravin from LOST.

On July 27, 2007, also joining the voice cast in the film were John Cleese (Harry Potter), Rupert Everett (An Ideal Husband, My Best Friend’s Wedding), John Hurt (Harry Potter, Elephant Man), and Richard E. Grant (The Iron Lady, Corpse Bride) all four joined the officially cast in the film.

Release

The film was released in April 2008 in the UK and June 2008 in United States.

  • Zach Braff and Michael Caine were in Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Braff and Caine were in movies released in 2004; Braff was in Garden State and Caine was in Around the Bend. Also, they were featured in films that was released in 2006; Braff was in The Last Kiss and Caine was in Children of Men and The Prestige. Finally, they were featured films that were released in 2013; Braff was in Oz: The Great and Powerful and Caine was in Now You See Me.
