Season 1 News:

  • Will consist of 21 episodes.
  • Will premiere alongside The Sullivans in early December.
  • Episode 10 will be a Christmas episode.
  • This season will sees Vargas tries to find out about her father's personal life and attempts to track down some long-lost family members.
    • Episode 12 will be a 60 minutes special which sees Vargas travel to meet and track down her family members or somebody who knew her father. Angela will join her half-sister's quest to keep her company throughout the journey.
    • Isabelle Huppert, David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Summer Glau and Luke Bracey to plays a characters who has a secret connected to Vargas' late father.
      • Huppert to play a rich and powerful lawyer. She has a daughter who is a detective.
      • Boreanaz to play a town sheriff. He is married to his childhood sweetheart for 24 years, has 3 adult children and a granddaughter. He has two younger sisters; one of them is a reporter and other is a sergeant.
      • Carpenter to play a local reporter and the sister of Boreanaz's character. She is a single woman who struggles to finds her own fame. She has a son from previous relationship when she was 22 years old.
      • Chriqui to play a sergeant and the youngest sister of Boreanaz and Carpenter's character. She is a divorced woman with 2 teenager sons.
      • Glau to plays a detective and the daughter of Huppert's character. She is married with a 14 years old twin daughters and a 8 years old son.
      • Bracey to plays a businessman and the son of Carpenter's character.
    • Kerris Dorsey, Jonathan Majors, Dylan Baker, Taylor Schilling, Randall Park, Jaeden Martell, Amy Acker and Antony Starr will guest-star in the episode.
    • Cary Elwes will portray an undisclosed role. He will play a huge part in the story.
  • Raquel Welch will plays Ariel Vargas' long-absent paternal grandmother. Vargas tracks her down to find out more about her late father's bloodline.
  • David Zayas will play Diego Vargas, Vargas' late father in flashback scenes for five episodes.
  • Two bombshells and a secret will be revealed.
  • Ebonee Noel, Lucy Hale, Jeff Ward, Scott Grimes and Yara Martinez have been cast in recurring roles:
    • Noel, Hale and Ward will play federal analysts assigned to the task force.
    • Grimes will play a forensic technician with the San Diego PD assigned to the task force.
    • Martinez will play an FBI coroner who works with the task force in cases involving death.
  • Bella Thorne return for two episodes as Alison Hamilton, a recurring character from the ninth and twelfth seasons of Hartman. She will confront Vargas about her brother Evan killing their abuser Gordon Fontana in the final episode of Hartman.
    • Last ever episode of Hartman hints that Vargas was involved in Gordon's death following her "suspicious" final call to Gordon before his death. The rumors wasn't confirmed on the episode.
  • Troy Winbush will recur as a CHP Sergeant and close friend of Cisnero's who helps the task force with several cases.
  • Joel Courtney, Brenda Song and Taraji P. Henson will reprise their roles from Hartman in four episodes each, in which the MCS and JACTF are made to work together on several cases.
  • Bryan Cranston will recur as a fellow US attorney and colleague of Crown for the back half of the season.
  • LaKeith Stanfield to guest stars Chapel's troubled younger brother, Ronnie for 2 episodes.
  • Mike Vogel will guest star as an NCIS agent who asks the JACTF for help in a case involving stolen weapons and a murdered Marine.
  • Caterina Scorsone will reprise her role as former team member, Det. Jillian Rudd for two episodes.
  • Nicole Maines to plays Shane's transgender younger sister, Emily (born as Ben). Shane will attempts to support her sister over her decision but the past and decision could threaten their relationship between siblings.
  • Julianne Moore return to play Edith Shane, Morgan and Ben/Emily's mother which she previously plays in eleventh season of Hartman along with Willem Dafoe to plays Glenn Shane, Morgan and Emily's father for two episodes. Morgan invite her parents to meet Emily in person for first time.
  • Olga Kurylenko will appear in an undisclosed role in the last two episodes.
  • Season 1 finale will end on a cliffhanger, leaving three main characters' lives in the balance as a personal vengeance against one of JACTF member leads a deadly consequences.

Season 2 News:

  • Season 2 has been confirmed before season 1 finale and the season will consist of 23 episodes.
  • Will premiere alongside alongside the season 3 premiere of The Sullivans in early/mid April.
  • The series will kick off from season 1 finale's cliffhanger, which see one regular character die as a result.
    • A recurring character will be upgraded to regular status to replace them.
    • Shane will be put in danger in the season premiere.
    • Vargas will face the fury of a grieving family member which results her getting shot as a revenge at the end of episode 8. In the aftermath, the JACTF will struggle to investigate the shooting and also the team will be divide over to charge the person of attempts murder.
      • Lexi Rabe, Isabelle Franca and Rowan Blanchard to plays young visions of Vargas (age 5, 13 and 20) on episode 9. In aftermath of the shooting, Vargas will relived her life (from child to young adult) while being in limbo between life and death.
      • Ben Mendelsohn return to play Gordon Fontana for one episode. He will appear as a hallucination to Vargas. He attempts to manipulate her into joining him in afterlife.
      • Miriam Spumpkin to plays 5 years old Angela in one of the flashback scene.
  • The show producer reveals a big twist will occur at the end of season premiere, which will leave the audience stunned and one character and their loved ones demand answers.
  • Joan Allen will portray an undisclosed role in season premiere. Her character gets caught in the situation involving Vargas and her family.
  • Richard Schiff will leave the cast after the first six episodes; Bryan Cranston will then join as a regular, reprising his role of Norman Devlin, who takes over as the task force's new head of Oversight.
  • Sophia Bush will join the cast as a new regular, a CBI Agent who joins the JACTF's Oversight. She will make her first appearance in episode 4.
  • Jessica Chastain will reprise her role as Captain Chloe Hartman for ten episodes (including first two episodes) as she and the MCS help the JACTF to deal the situation after tragedy strikes. Chastain originally refused to appear in the first season due to wanting the spin-off to find it's own footing, but following a meeting with the producers, she agreed to appear in the second season.
  • Mike Vogel and Alan Powell will return for several more guest appearances.
  • Chapel's brother Ronnie will return as recur where he will struggle to move on from his divorce and maintain his bar, which will lead to him making an uneasy deal that has major consequences for several characters.
  • The relationship between Vargas and Delgado will hit a new milestone.
  • Jonathan and Angela will be involved in the scandal this season when they are accused of distributing revenge p*rn after a video they film mysteriously ends up online.
    • Jason Bateman will play Patrick Morris, Etheridge's estranged ex-husband and the father of Chelsea. He also has a history with somebody close to the JACTF. He will start a feud with Chelsea's friend Jonathan, which triggers a revenge attempt which goes horribly wrong for him and Angela.
    • The true culprit will be revealed in season finale.
  • Krysten Ritter to plays a DDA from Las Vegas for eight episodes. She will clash with Shane and Norman Devlin over their difficulties on a case. She will make her first appearance in episode 7.
  • There will be a mid-season crossover with the spin-off series, The Sullivans.
  • Jackson Robert Scott will portray an undisclosed role in near-half of the season. He will make his first appearance in episode 10.
  • There will be a global trip for some of JACTF members who travel to Berlin and volunteers to help Captain Hartman out on a case in two-part episode.
    • Matthias Schweighöfer, Diane Kruger, Christoph Waltz, Samara Weaving, Letitia Wright, Alexandra Maria Lara, Helena Zengel, David Harbour, Ali Larter, David Thewlis and Kirsten Dunst to guest stars in the episodes.
      • Schweighöfer, Kruger, Waltz, Weaving, Wright and Lara to plays characters who works in a police agency.
      • Zengel to plays a young girl who is a person of interest of the main case. Her character will play the huge part when she is accused of murdering a couple in hotel room during a trip to Berlin with parents.

    • Stark Sands to plays a detective and Vargas' old partner for eight episodes. He will teams up with JACTF to investigate a random attacks of men around Los Angeles. He will plays a huge part of another investigation when male character assaulted by a unknown person. Also, he will share a tough reunion with his father, Norman Devlin.
      • The character will strikes a connection with main character which could cause a some tensions at our workplace.
    • Timothy Dalton and Glenn Close will portray an undisclosed role in the storyline. They will make their first appearance in episode 15.
  • Willa Fitzgerald and T.R. Knight will reprise their role from Hartman, Nancy Moreland and Taylor Lucas for one episode. They will drops a unexpected bombshell to Ramsay and Hartman.
  • A female character will discover that she is pregnant at near-end of the season.
  • The back half of the season will contain a storyline that shows Camille confronting her cousin who sexually abused her as a child and his parents (her maternal uncle and aunt) who helped cover up the abuse.
  • Sadie Sink will recur as a trouble teenager girl who was sexually abused by her father. She was originally plan to be appear for one episode but the show producers decided to have the role to be recurring after Sink' performance was strongly praised.
  • Julianne Moore to return to play Edith Shane for last 4 episodes. She will turn up at Los Angeles at a bad time as Shane is dealing a crisis involving her son.
    • Michelle Monaghan will plays Charlotte, Shane and Emily's older sister for 4 episodes. She will get caught in Shane's situation after arriving in Los Angeles with their mother unannounced. There will be sibling tension between Shane and Charlotte as they argue over Jonathan and their past.
  • Gabrielle Union to plays Hobbs' ex-wife for one episode. She will make her first appearance in episode 19.
  • A character will unexpectedly be killed off in episode 22. The show producer warns the outcome will shocked everyone in the JACTF and viewers, excluded a big twist.

Season 3 News:

  • The producers has confirmed Vargas & Shane and sister series The Sullivans have each been renewed for another season.
  • The season will consist of 24 episodes and premiere in late October.
  • Season premiere will see the JACTF and MCS will travel to New Orleans to track down Dennis Quaid's character who sets out to find his son.
    • Some of the cast of the ended Law & Order: New Orleans will return along with some new cast members five years of the series end.
      • Brendan Fraser, Isaiah Washington, Rebecca Romijn, Zac Efron, Marco Sanchez, Jazz Raycole and Aya Sumika will reprise their roles. Also, Jimmy Smits will cameo in his old role as well.
      • New cast are Mireille Enos, Lucas Black, Brandon Jay McLaren, Úrsula Corberó and James Marsters.
        • Black will play Christian LeBeau, a new detective and native resident to the Big Easy with an classic country attitude.
        • Corbero will play Paloma Santiago, a newly-promoted detective and immigrant from Mexico with a hidden past.
        • McLaren will play Oscar Russell, a new sergeant brought in as an undercover expert.
        • Marsters will play Jason Darby, a new A.D.A. filling in for McCorrea while he's on vacation.
        • Enos plays Julie Peterson, a new D.A. investigator and ex-state trooper.
    • Jessica Chastain has confirmed that the third season premiere will be her last appearance for the foreseeable future but she later confirmed that she will make a cameo appearance in episode 15.
    • Willa Fitzgerald and T.R. Knight will return for two episodes (including season premiere) which will see Nancy giving birth to her and Taylor's child while getting involved in a dangerous situation during a trip to New Orleans with two characters becoming unexpected helpers.
    • Claire Danes will guest-star in the episode to play the mother of Quaid's character's son.
    • Michael Kelly will play a Deputy U.S. Marshal who will appear near the end of the season premiere and will recur throughout five subsequent episodes.

  • Michelle Monaghan's role will become recurring when the show explores the character's relationship with her sisters following the events of last season.
    • The show also confirmed a bipolar disorder storyline for Charlotte, who will develop paranoia and hallucinations after getting rid of her medication.
    • Charlotte, Shane and Emily's parents Glenn and Edith will plays a huge role in the storyline as they and Shane become worried for Charlotte's wellbeing and safety.
    • Florence Pugh to plays Charlotte's hallucinated "friend" for six episodes. Flashback scenes will reveals the truth behind Charlotte's connection with Pugh's character

  • Patrick Wilson to plays Scalieri's older brother Thomas, an LAPD detective for eight episodes. His controversial actions will cause some conflict within the JACTF. Also, he has a complicated relationship with his sister because he is jealous of her, believing that she is "dark sheep" in his family.
  • Jason Bateman will return for one episode which sees Emily and Lowry visit him in prison.
  • Alex Kingston, David Oyelowo and Richard Armitage will have guest star in one episode as British police officers who assist JACTF at California for one case. They will appear in episode 11.
  • David Thewlis will return to play Professor James Griffin for one episode where he teams up with JACTF to investigate the murder of goth couple. This will occur in episode 18.
  • Andie MacDowell to plays Devlin's wife Sherri for five episodes where the character will clash with her soon to be ex-husband over their divorce process.
  • Chapel and Hobbs will experience racial profiling in one episode when LAPD officers roust them while they are undercover and nearly ruin an operation to capture a long-time federal fugitive. This will occur in episode 12.
  • Ed Harris to guest star as Finn's father and a retired police lieutenant for one episode (episode 15) when JACTF investigate his old case.
  • Anson Mount to guest star as a killer who terrorised the women of Chicago 15 years ago until his death in the hand of Scalieri who shot him in self-defense after he brutally stabbed her brother and kills his partner during a call in. In aftermath, his eventful actions was results many career destroyed (including Finn's father retired as lieutenant) and Scalieri's relationship with her brother torns apart. Despite his death, his ghost haunts Thomas in his life. Episode 15 will sees his crime revisited after a incident at subway which was witnessed by Thomas' daughter, Summer.
  • Freya Allan to guest star as Hunsacker's troubled niece Susie for three episodes. Hunsacker and Shane will finds themselves getting caught up in Susie's criminal world.
  • Edward Norton, Pom Klementieff, Michael Cudlitz, Billy Magnussen and Melissa Roxburgh to guest stars in one episode where Vargas teams up with Aldridge, their uncle and aunt as they travel to New York to finds out about Diego's CIA background. This will occur in episode 17.

  • The producers has confirmed Vargas & Shane and sister series The Sullivans have each been renewed for another seasons.
  • The season will consist of 22 episodes and will premiere in early/mid July.
    • NBC has confirmed that the show will move to a new time slot, with new show Denver Memorial airing along with The Sullivans (another show sets in Denver).
  • Jennifer Love Hewitt will be promoted to the main cast as her character takes Etheridge's place.
  • The season premiere will feature Shane and Finn getting married.
    • Ed Harris, Adam Brody and Kat Dennings to return for this episode.
    • Ellen Barkin to plays Finn's mother and Joseph's ex-husband.
    • Marley Shelton, Anna Chlumsky and Betty Gilpin to plays Finn's sisters.
    • William Fichtner to plays Shane's uncle and Glenn's brother.

  • Season 4's seasonal case will be the JACTF working to deal with a violent gang war between a Mexican drug cartel and a Colombian drug cartel.
    • The storyline will begin in season premiere when the people of Los Angeles get caught up in a violent shootout between gang members.
    • Diego will get involved with the case, having infiltrated one of the cartels years ago as part of the CIA, which he'll do in exchange for a possible pardon from prison.
        • NCIS Agent Burnett and U.S. Marshal Jennings will have some involvement in the case.
        • RZA will recur as a Deputy U.S. Marshal and Jennings' right-hand man.
        • Tamberla Perry and Jack Kesy will recur as Lee's friends at the DEA assigned to help in the case.
        • Reggie Lee will recur as Scott's friend at ICE assigned to help in the case.
        • Jaci Twiss returns as bounty hunter Lisa Geiger who is pursuing one of the Colombian drug dealers who has a prize on his head.
        • Joaquim de Almeida, Mark Consuelos, Richard Cabral, Alice Braga, Yancey Arias, and Hemky Madera will play key members of the Raigosa Cartel from Mexico. They will make their first appearance in episode 11.
        • Jesse Borrego, Zoe Saldana, Judy Reyes, Jacob Scipio, Paola Núñez, and Adam Irigoyen will play key members of the Genarro Cartel from Columbia. They will make their first appearance in episode 11.
        • Felix Mallard and Jenna Ortega will portray an undisclosed role for last 3 episodes. They will make their first appearance in episode 20 where a dark secret is revealed.
      • Gabrielle Union to return as Hobbs's ex-wife Grace on recurring basis.
      • Holt Mccallany to recur as Dr. Paul Dalton, Vargas's long-time doctor who vows to help Vargas' quest to get pregnant but he has darkest secrets from his past.
      • Lee will make a shocking discovery about her late sister Dawn's death which will leads to unwanted answers.
      • Delgado and Finn will learns that they have been both eligible for promotion; Delgado as detective and Finn as sergeant. It will takes place in episode 12.
      • Episode 6 will be a Halloween episode where the team will investigate the disappearance of a young Caucasian girl from the suburbs and find that it's linked to the similar disappearances of African-American girls from inner city areas over the past year.
        • The episode will be 60 minutes special.
        • Some JACTF members will be targeted by a group of teenagers with masks from horror films while on-duty. Show producers hints a devastating consequences that nobody will see it coming.
          • Nicholas Hamilton, Myles Truitt, Gaten Matarazzo, Levi Miller, Emilia Jones and Gabriel Bateman to guest stars as the teenagers who terrorized the JACTF.
      • Gillian Alexy and Chris Vance will reprise their roles as Linda Young and James Greico, from Hartman for two episodes where they will ask JACTF for help to finds the missing daughter of a former San Francisco mayor who could involved in drug cartels. They will appear at episode 15 and 16.
      • Tony Todd to recur as a US attorney who attempts to rebuild the JACTF as he volunteer to takes over (from episode 7) as Devlin takes a break after following the backlash of recent events and his leadership being harshly criticized. He will make his first appearance in episode 2 when his character gets involved in the argument between Devlin and Chief Stern over the shooting between two rival cartel-connected gangs.
      • Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn to plays Thomas and Scalieri's parents. They will make their appearance in episode 3.
        • Jennifer Holland and Sebastian Stan to plays young version of the characters at episode 8 and 9.
      • Glen Powell, Victoria Pedretti and Teyonah Parris will play three rookies whom Ramsay, Reese and Shane take under their wings. They will make their first appearance in episode 5.
        • Powell will portray a rookie detective who will be partner with Ramsay.
        • Pedretti will portray a rookie FBI agent who will be partner with Reese.
        • Parris will portray a rookie D.A. who will be partnered with Shane.
      • Vargas' new friendship with Thomas Scalieri will continue to be explored from last season, which will result in some divided results.
        • Thomas' past will be revisited in one episode after he is shot during a night out. The JACTF will discover a huge list of suspects. It will be on episode 3.
        • Vargas gets herself into a dangerous situation in episode 8 when she gets involved in Thomas' secret investigation. The next episode, a mystery character will become Vargas' unexpected helper as they assist Vargas in cleaning up the aftermath.
          • Campbell Scott to guest stars as a "dangerous" crime lord who is subject of Thomas' secret investigation. He is described as a very dangerous and branded as LAPD's "worst nightmare" because his family's complicated past.
          • Callie Haverda to plays a young hacker who gets involved in the criminal's plan. The character's background will be explored as she attempts to cause trouble for Vargas. She will make her first appearance in episode 8.
      • Jordan Elsass, Kingston Foster and Audie Rick to plays young versions of Tommy (age 19-20), Faith (age 12) and Edwin Scalieri (age 5) during flashback scenes at episode 8 and 9. It explores Tommy's choice to become a cop despite his family's refusal.
      • Terry Kinney is promoted as a series recurring. The show will explore Chief Stern's personal and work life as the LAPD faces some new changes and reforms.
      • In episode 13, some of JACTF members will travel to Paris for important mission. Details haven't been revealed but the producers described the trip to Paris as "quest of justice" as they hints the events from Halloween will be the main subject.
        • Update: Chapel, Hobbs, Lowry and Lee will travel to Paris to tracks Nicholas Hamilton's character after he nearly murdered Scott during house fire at Halloween. Vargas and Ramsay will also travel to Paris to look for their colleagues.
      • Shane will team up with Vargas' cousin Mac and Victoria in one episode as she gets involved of Mac's custody fight for his brother Ivan and his newborn sister. It will takes place in episode 18.
      • Devlin will battle a painkiller addiction as he struggles with his life in a wheelchair and struggles to walk again from the previous season finale.
        • Andie MacDowell to returns as Devlin's wife Sherri on recurring basis as she tries to help her husband over his struggle.
        • Caleb Landry Jones and Katherine McNamara to guest star as Devlin and Sherri's son and daughter; John Paul and Marcy for two episodes.

      • Annette O'Toole to guest star as Amanda's biological mother for one episode when Amanda reunites with her on her birthday after Thomas tracks her down, but their reunion turns sour. She will make her appearance in episode 7.
      • Rose McGowan will return for one episode which sees Etheridge return to Los Angeles and visits her former colleagues after hearing the news of a tragic events at Halloween. She will appear in episode 7.
      • Emily VanCamp will appear in one episode as a FBI agent in a Chicago Office who was previously one of Gordon Fontana's victims and will work with JACTF on one case. She appears in episode 12.
      • Madison De La Garza will recur as a single mother with an unfortunate tie to Damien Raigosa, and who will end up changing Vargas and Delgado's life forever. Her first appearance will be in episode 17.
      • Shane will receive unexpected news in episode 20. The news will shake up her own family.

Season 5 News:

  • The season will have 22 episodes and will premiere in early/mid September.
  • Michael Kelly (Deputy US Marshal John Jennings) will be upgraded to a series regular.
  • Wentworth Miller will leave the cast this season. Having previously opted not to play straight characters anymore, Miller stayed on to fulfill his contract for the fans. He initially intended to leave at the end of previous season, but came to an agreement with the producers to appear in 13 episodes this season to properly wrap his character's storyline.
    • Michael Ealy, Willa Fitzgerald, Chris Vance and Courtney Cox will return for one episode (episode 11) but their involvement in Ramsay's storyline is kept secret.
  • The season premiere will be a two-part episode which sees Stanley Fowler goes on trial for his various crimes the prior Halloween.
    • James Marsters to play an amoral attorney who will represent Fowler during his trial. Also, his character has history with Reese when she was a rookie FBI agent.
  • Following earlier hints in the previous season about another future long-running case, this season will see the JACTF gets caught in the dangerous world of police corruption as they investigate a unit of dirty LAPD officers, but the producers hints the case will lead to catastrophic consequences.
    • Chief Stern will play a huge role as he gets involved in some of the JACTF's case. However, his loyalty is tested when it revealed that Stern has his own secrets from his time in the LAPD.
      • Esai Morales will plays a mystery man from Stern's past who threatens to cause trouble for the Chief. He will make his first appearance in episode 5.
      • Stern's family life will also explore as Stern makes some risky decisions to protect his family from harm.
    • The corruption case will be partly based off of the LAPD Rampart scandal of the 90s, and the Baltimore PD's recent Gun Trace Task Force scandal.

  • Mike Vogel (NCIS Special Agent Danny Burnett) and Tony Todd (U.S. Attorney Clyde Forbes) are upgraded to series regular.
  • The season-long storyline will be a investigation into multiple opioid-related deaths involving members of the US Navy and Marines Corp, which will eventually uncover an massive narcotics smuggling ring involving people in all five branches of the US military, and might even involve the CIA.
    • Nathan Parsons, Sahr Ngaujah, and Lauren Cohen will recur as members of Army CID, Air Force OSI, and CGIS who will help the task force in the main investigation.
  • Impact of last season's events will play major role throughout this season as the LAPD and the city are still recovering from corruption scandal while some JACTF members struggle to deal with the aftermath.

  • Clyde Forbes will temporarily depart in episode 13 following his actor's passing. Tony Todd filmed four episodes before his death. Also, the show's producers confirm they won't kill off Forbes's character.
    • From episode 14, Jennings will fills in and takes over the task force during Forbes' absence.
    • Update (after episode 13): Show producers confirmed that they are planned to include Forbes in more episodes despite the actor's death with an active and unused footages of the character.

  • The season will have 15 episodes and will premiere in early to mid July.
  • The season premiere will be a two-parter and take place immediately after the season 6 finale.
    • Diego Vargas will play a huge role in the premiere and throughout the season.
    • A former antagonist who appeared in past seasons will return and had a major role in both episodes and throughout the season.
    • During their captivity in the premiere, Vargas and Shane would recall key moments seen in flashbacks from Hartman and Vargas & Shane on how much their friendship means to them.
  • The season's overarching plot will be the first half of the show's final arc, with the JACTF tracking a highly skilled and elusive black hat hacker running a vast network of criminals throughout not only California, but the country as well.
  • Troy Winbush will return as a guest star for the season premiere.
  • Kearran Giovanni, Dania Ramirez, and Damon Gupton will join the main cast this season.
    • Giovanni will portray a CHP Corporal whom Hobbs personally recommends as his replacement; she will debut in the premiere episode.
