[[File:Vampire_Ant.png|thumb]]The '''vampire ant''' is a species of small ant native to South American rainforests and swamplands, but has since been introduced to Florida, Texas, and California, due to stowaways. The vampire ants are the only known species of ant that is known to drink the blood of vertebrates such as amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals, but can also drink blood from dead animals too. Unlike most other blood-drinking arthropods such as fleas, ticks, or among others, the vampire ants don't seem to spread any diseases, despite their parasitic behavior, thanks to specialized fermentation organs inside their abdomens, which kills off any possible diseases and viruses, so they are tolerated by their larger hosts such as humans. The vampire ants are extremely aggressive towards mosquitoes, fleas, bedbugs, and ticks, and may even kill them through competition and/or to steal the blood from their competitors, either ripping their competitors' bloood-filled abdomens to drink their competitors' blood and the blood they took from their hosts.

Vampire Ant

The vampire ant is a species of small ant native to South American rainforests and swamplands, but has since been introduced to Florida, Texas, and California, due to stowaways.
