Trainz Northwest is a series made using the Trainz game. It takes place in the northwest part of Oregon and follows the adventures of the trains that live and work there.

Premise[]

In the Willamette Valley area of Oregon, the local railroads all serve their various jobs. There are many engines that do many jobs ranging from high speed express passenger trains to slow work freight trains. Sometimes, certain engines want to do jobs the usually don't, which occasionally causes trouble. For the most part, the locations are based on real life locations. However, there are some completely fictionalized locations in the series. The show is in narator style, with a single voice actor providing narration as well as voicing the characters similar to old Thomas season 1-12 episodes.

Characters[]

  • Wes: a Colorado Railcar DMU that operates a local commuter rail line between the cities of Beaverton and Wilsonville.
  • Cabcar: a Colorado Railcar cab car that heavily resembles Wes. However, she is unpowered and requires another engine to move him. She is often paired with Wes as the southbound leader when Wes leads Northbound on their commuter rail line.
  • Rdc: a Budd RDC that that operates the local commuter rail line alongside Wes and Cabcar.
  • Cascades: an EMD F59PHI engine that operates an express passenger service between the cities of Portland and Eugene.
  • Genesis: a GE P42DC engine that operates the long distance passenger train beyond the willamette valley.
  • The Chargers: a group of Siemens Charger engines that tried to take over all passenger services from the older engines but have since been integrated into the passenger system alongside the older engines. However, they still often cause trouble for the other engines and are considered the show's main villains.
    • Charger X: an ALC42 engine painted in a custom paint scheme. He's the leader of the chargers and the most evil one in the group. He wants to destroy all old engines and replace them with his kind.
    • ALC and SCB: 2 ALC42 engines painted in the Amtrak phase vii (ALC) and day 1 (SCB) paint schemes. They often serve as Charger X's minions. However, they aren't evil like Charger X and mostly serve him out of fear.
  • Geep: an EMD GP39-2 engine that runs on a local freight railroad.
  • Black Widow: an EMD GP9 engine that runs on the local freight railroad.
  • SD: an EMD SD45 engine that also runs on the local freight railroad.
  • Gevo: a GE ES44AC that is often used on express freight trains.
  • McKeen: a former scrap Mckeen Motor Car that was saved and now runs a commuter rail shuttle between Tigard and Portland.
  • The twins: 2 mute EMD GP9 engines that often patrol the smelters yard. The occasionally serve villainous roles as they sometimes try to scrap engines that enter the smelters yard.
  • The Control Speeder: a speeder rail car that serves as the controller of all Willamette Valley railway trains. He decides what the trains do and where they go.

The Trainz Northwest sets are filmed on several maps that have been scratch built in the Trainz A New Era game program. There are 2 main maps. One for the Central Main line and one for the Westside Main line. There are also several smaller maps that help flesh out the Trainz Northwest world such as a partial map of the northern parts of the Central and Westside main lines with the connecting branch line running between them as well as seperate maps for the Smelters Yard and Portland yard locations.
