Thrinaxodon californianus (name meaning "California trident tooth") is a species of cynodont that originally lived in what South Africa and Antarctica during the Early Triassic. It was originally extinct, but has since been brought back from extinction by SciiFii and now lives in Cretaceous Park located in Sacramento, California. Similar to other non-mammal synapsids, Thrinaxodon californianus adopts a semi-sprawling posture, an intermediary form between the sprawling position of pelycosaurs (not unlike native modern Crocodylia) and the more upright posture present in native modern mammals. Thrinaxodon californianus is a burrowing carnivore that mainly feeds on a wide range of smaller animals, and is mainly nocturnal, hunting normally at night.
