This is Goodbye is a British dystopian drama television series created and written by Ifan Barber. The series, starring Emma Thompson, Lupita NYong'o and Jude Law in leading roles, with Karen Gillan, Damian Lewis, Judi Dench, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Boyega and Christina Chong in supporting roles. The first series debuted on BBC One on October 7th 2018 a 9pm, airing for 4 hour-long episodes. On November 1st 2018, BBC One announced that they had renewed This is Goodbye for a second series of 6 hour-long episodes.

- Emma Thompson as Vivienne West, a secondary school teacher who uncovers the school's secret bunker when the government collapses in the wake of a Nuclear attack on the north of England that spreads radiation across Europe.
- Lupita Nyong'o as Emmeline Sanders, a journalist who Vivienne rescues from a pack of mutated school children and brings her into the bunker.
- Jude Law as Christopher Ingrid, a disgraced former work colleague of Vivienne's who show's up at the bunker after remembering of its existence when he worked at the school.

- Karen Gillan as Angie West, Vivienne's daughter, who Vivienne believes to be lost in the nuclear holocaust that central London has become. She appears in series 1 through visions and flashbacks.
- Damian Lewis as Richard Wells, the former Prime Minister of Britain, who abandoned his post in the aftermath of the nuclear fallout and ultimately caused a government collapse when the second strike happened, when on a food run, Emmeline discovers him hiding in a terrace house beside the school.
- Judi Dench as Moira West, Vivienne's mother who is trapped in a commune formed by the military in her retirement complex. Tech-savvy, she uses remaining electrical and wireless connections to contact her daughter and plot her escape from the totalitarian regime of Colonel Masters.
- Chiwetel Ejiofor as Colonel Alfred Masters, the ruthless leader of a military group that went rogue of the government. (Series 1)
- John Boyega as Adam Samuels, a doctor-in-training who is taken from a hospital refuge by Masters to work at the retirement complex, he assists Moira with her escape and is promised to come with her if they manage.
- Christina Chong as Anne-Marie Wu, a girl who escapes from the capture of abusive parents and discovers the post-apocalyptic world beyond her home.
