The Unsung Lullaby is a fan story written by BokkaTHfoxrabbit on DeviantART. In this sad/uplifting/cute/beautiful/sweet dreams fuel story, Twilight and her friends must put all the guests into their calming, peaceful sleep after a big, long night to remember.

Plot

It was almost midnight, and many high-society ponies from all Equestria, including Canterlot High School students, Crystal Prep Academy students, Ponyville Schoolhouse students, School for Gifted Unicorns students, School of Friendship students, Wonderbolt Academy cadets, and many other ponies (unicorns, pegasi, earth ponies, alicorns, bat ponies and crystal ponies), kirins, zebras, donkeys, breezies, Clydesdales, Saddle Arabians, changelings, storm creatures, kirins, hippogriffs, griffons, dragons, sirens, centaurs, Abyssinians, yaks, deers, reindeers, harpies, buffalos and other creatures, including multicolored humans from the Equestria Girls world, all dressed in bridesmaid dresses, business suits, cheongsams, Christmas sweaters, coats, dresses with corsets, gala dresses, gowns, kimonos, lab coats, longcoats, ceremonial robes, school uniforms, sundresses, togas, trenchcoats, turtlenecks, ballerina dresses with tutus, tuxedos, Wonderbolt dress uniforms, black dresses, coronation dresses, frilly dresses, lederhosens, off-shoulder sweaters, dirndls, hanfus, skirt suits, keyhole sweaters, long skirts, princess dresses, pleated skirts, Crystal Prep Academy uniforms, keyhole turtlenecks, dress uniforms, ancient Wonderbolts uniforms, striped sweaters, sleeveless sweaters, saloon dresses, Mary Janes, kilts, fall formal outfits, prom dresses and many types of dresses (except wedding dresses), had a big gala inside Twilight's castle in celebration of the first anniversary of the foundation of Harmony, but the ensuing rainstorm prevented them from going home, so they have no choice but to go to sleep all together inside the ballroom with mattresses, pillows and blankets that're cleared from the decorations while still dressed in formal clothing while waiting for some rescue from deployed Equestrian Office of Disaster Preparedness teams.

• While all males wear tuxedos and suits, and most females wear dresses and gowns, tomboyish characters like Rainbow Dash, Indigo Zap, Scootaloo, Fleetfoot, Cloudchaser, Lightning Dust, Misty Fly, Night Glider, and Vinyl Scratch, Spitfire, High Winds, Gilda, Smolder, Greta and Gabby the Griffon wear the same way as what male guests would do.

• The Mane Six's formal wear in this story would be combinations of their gala dresses from "The Best Night Ever," their bridesmaid dresses from "A Canterlot Wedding," coronation attendance dresses from "Magical Mystery Cure," and even fall formal outfits from "Equestria Girls," save for Rainbow Dash (who wears a black suit, black pants, black shoes, a white dress shirt and a rainbow-colored necktie).
  • Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Twilight Sparkle's skirt designs on their dresses are almost completely the same as their fall formal outfits' skirts, but the difference is that their skirts are longer, reaching all the way to their ankles. They also wear the same boots that they wore in the fall formal on their back hooves. On the other hand, Rainbow Dash also has black slacks and black shoes.
    • In the ending of the comic (which takes place at 3:00 PM, which the storm already stopped), the Mane Six's human forms would all wear their fall formal outfits (with their skirts at ankle-length) and see all the creatures sleeping in formal wear with tears of joy. They would also sleep with all their pony selves.
      • Also, Sci-Twi would hold a flashlight while they were looking very tired.
      • This happens after Celestia (now wearing a V-neck sweater over her gala dress) said "Goodnight, everypony." in a soft-spoken voice while she sheds her tears of joy while Princess Luna (wearing her sweater vest over her coronation dress) giggled quietly and happily before they could all yawn and go to sleep.
      • In the penultimate page of the comic, Sci-Twi (human version of Twilight Sparkle) would say "Goodnight, everypony." as the comic's final words before she shuts her eyes again.
      • In the final page, there would be three panels: the last candle in the chandelier is extinguished, the human version of the Mane Six's eyes (now partially closed) shedding their tears of joy while still smiling and looking at Sci-Twi, and finally, showing an image of the Mane Six (in their pony and human selves together) sleeping happily with other guests on their side (now sleeping on their mattresses and sleeping bags while still in formal clothing) while still smiling.
• The Mane Six's manestyles resemble those in their crystal pony forms when they were about to sleep.
• Soarin, Caramel, Comet Tail, Flash Sentry, Braeburn, Royal Pin, Thunderlane, First Base and Rumble are all dressed in the same prom outfits from OwletBrigthness.
• Octavia Melody (while wearing this gown that's similar to Charm) and orchestra group played the Medal of Honor: Airborne end credits original soundtrack that Michael Giacchino composed as a lullaby to those guests.
  • Lyrics are also added to reflect that now that the event was over, it was time for all the guests to finally go to sleep (even though they're still dressed in formal wear).
• Charm and Fine Line hugged Rarity tightly while she was bawling loudly (right before they all went to sleep), showing that Rarity is the most emotional of the Mane Six.
  • It happened a little bit later after Rarity dressed up all the masters and mistresses (children and relatives of high-society ponies) dressed up from pajamas into formal outfits so they can rejoin their families in the ballroom to sleep together while coming out from their guest bedrooms. at the same time. parents of students are also dressed in formal wear arrive to rejoin the schoolchildren to sleep together after the masters and mistresses also rejoined their families together.
• While Shining Armor wears his same royal uniform from the royal wedding and his sister's coronation (plus with black pants and black shoes), Princess Cadance also wears the same skirt suit that her human counterpart wears.
• Princess Celestia and Princess Luna would wear the same dresses that they wore in past events; for Celestia, she wears the same gala dress that she wore in "Make New Friends But Keep Discord," while her sister Luna wears the same coronation dress that she wore in "Magical Mystery Cure."
• Applejack removed her hat when she was about to go to sleep.
• Star Gazer, Sir Pony Moore (Bruce Mane), Lyrica Lilac, Fine Line (Maxie), Minuette, Lyra Heartstrings, Twinkleshine, Count Caesar, Sealed Scroll (Herald), Royal Ribbon and Charm (North Star) (including Masquerade) would wear all the same outfits as what would their humanized outfits would look like in the style of Trinityinyang.
• Cheese Sandwich could wear a black suit with a white dress shirt and a red necktie too, even in his pony form. He would also wear black pants and brown loafers.
• Serena, Carlotta (Giselle), Eclair Creme (Jangles), Prim Posy (Orange Blossom) and Four Step (Marey Fetlock) would wear all these outfits from this picture.
• Noi would wear her princess costume from a Nightmare Night episode, "Luna Eclipsed." The only difference is that she has gloves (on her front hooves), glass slippers (on her back hooves), and even jewelry.

• Tempest Shadow (or Fizzlepop Berrytwist) would wear a women's military dress uniform similar to that of the US Army to reflect her service for the Equestrian royal guard. In this story, she would light up an old star night light that was used for Twilight to go to sleep in her foalhood (which was repaired days before this formal party).
• Vinyl Scratch, while wearing this attendance gown (with her dress' skirt being knee-length to reveal that she's wearing leggings underneath and boots on her back hooves instead of her front hooves, which could reflect her tomboyish personality), would tearfully put away her DJ set and play a mobile for Flurry Heart and the Cake twins.
• The Cake twins would be at preschool age (since they were a bit older than Flurry Heart).
