#1 - "The Big Breakout"

Four-and-a-half months after dismantling the Lambs of Christ cult, Drake and Katherine have improved security around their house with a security system and hinged window security bars that open from the inside after having learned that someone has been helping their enemies against them. They and Ryan have also secretly been trying to narrow down who could be the one assisting their enemies. At their jobs, everyone is adjusting to new changes. Peake is still seeking election as D.A., Cohen and Lincoln are still in a relationship and Sykes and Pearce are adjusting to their new ranks as captain and lieutenant. Francis and Spier are setting up their wedding date. Then Sergeant Isaiah Whitlock, a former bomb squad officer, arrives in Sykes's office. Sykes greets and reminds Whitlock the team is just coming off wrapping the Lambs of Christ case and are still dealing with Winder's retirement among other things. Whitlock says that he knew Winder from a couple of past cases. Sykes informs him that he knows why he left bomb squad: a bomb killed two of his men because of a miscalculation in the field; Whitlock notes that the bomb was highly sophisticated, which Sykes acknowledges. As this goes on, Katherine comes in and tells Drake that something is a little up with Finn since he has hanging around Danielle since his break up with Hayden. Drake says that they will figure that out soon as Sykes introduces Whitlock to everyone in the FJU.

As everyone is settling in, Sykes gets a call, and then informs the detectives that they have a massive prison break outside of the Colorado State Penitentiary during a prison labor work. Some of the inmates are from cases they dealt with in the past and the U.S. Marshals are asking to lend a hand. The detectives arrive by chopper where they met with Marshals Peter Dougherty, Kenneth Ford, Mark Ellis, Bonnie Fox and new Deputy U.S. Marshal Tara Nguyen (Rachel Lin). Dougherty reveals that there were 30 inmates on a work labor crew and then many inmates resisted and attacked the guards, even killing a few with weapons that they took from the guards. 16 inmates successfully escaped and 10 of them are connected to previous FJU cases. Drake asks which inmates from previous cases escaped and Ford reveals the names of the inmates:

  1. Ernest "Ernie Chaos" Dressler, a mass-murderer who killed his wife's family.
  2. Spencer Tomlin Jr., a teenage rapist from a rich family.
  3. Dominic Wilcox, the gang leader who lead the attacks on Wynn and Finch.
  4. Alvin McNamara, aka the "Maple Rapist", a serial rapist who targeted young girls by cornering them, and forcing them to lick maple syrup off his genital area before raping them.
  5. Jamal "J-Good" Goodson, a gangbanger who ran an inner-city sex-trafficking operation.
  6. Oscar Sanchez, a domestic abuser who killed his ex-wife and her new boyfriend.
  7. Lyle Hemmerling, aka the "Trans Killer", a transphobic man who massacred 17 people in a mass shooting at a LGBTQ+ nightclub.
  8. Wren Loh, a ruthless pimp who brutally murdered one of his prostitutes by forcing drain cleaner down her throat for withholding money from him.
  9. Gary Frye, the former leader of homophonic group American Straight Morals Alliance who attacked Doyle, Jake, Brian and his boyfriend Cameron Walker 3 and a half years ago.
  10. John Fitzgerald, aka "Oilman", a former oil billionaire who murdered his father and wife and whom Drake and Katherine helped take down to protect his children and his sister. He turns out to be the man who led the breakout.

The information shocked everyone in the FJU, especially Drake upon learning that Fitzgerald organized the mass escape. Ruiz then questions about the other six inmates not connected to the FJU. Fox says that two of them are connected in cases from other DPD units (one from Cold Case and one from Major Crimes), the other two are from Colorado State Police cases, the fifth was involved in a bank robbery/shootout that killed three people in Boulder, and the last one is the man who committed a stabbing attack in a restaurant in Pueblo that killed four people. Whitlock asks how they intend to pursue the fugitives. Dougherty and Ellis say that they have set up checkpoints in the Colorado-New Mexico border and checkpoints in most of I-25 and other state and local highways, and put all local PDs on alert. Nguyen reveals through interviews of few inmates who stayed put and others that Dressler and Goodson instigated the attack by knocking the first guard down with a shovel and Dressler bludgeoned him to death with a rock. Then Hemmerling took the guard's shotgun and killed a second one. Dressler and Frye then gave weapons to Fitzgerald and Goodson and they shot down two other guards. Dressler, Goodson and Hemmerling then gave weapons to Spencer, McNamara, Sanchez, Loh and Wilcox. A few other inmates joined in and helped execute the rest of the guards on Fitzgerald's orders. Others who stayed behind scattered to avoid being shot by Fitzgerald and the other escapees. Then they hijacked the prison bus and Fitzgerald forced the driver to drive them out. Then Ford comes in and says that State Police found the prison bus driver dead on the Colorado Highway 115 northwest of Pueblo and the bus is heading north towards Colorado Springs. Dougherty tells him to notify the Colorado Springs PD and have local and state police patrol the area while he will notify Fort Carson Army post to be on the lookout for escaped prisoners. With that, the U.S. Marshals tell the FJU that they will need all the help they can to take down the escapees.

At the Denver D.A. Office, Katherine goes over some ideas to create a foundation for children victimized by crime against them. Saxe, Cohen and Quelling enter and inform her of the prison break and that some criminals from the FJU's cases escaped; Katherine informs them that she has already heard about it and is waiting for more information. The three then notice what Katherine is going over and Cohen asks why is looking she establish a foundation. Katherine replies that she wants to do something more other than put away criminals, and what certain children, including Mary, have endured by the crimes committed against them is something she cannot let stand. Saxe and Quelling state that they feels the same way when it comes to their own children and experiences. Cohen doesn't disagree with Katherine's intentions, but expresses that there are issues when it comes to securing financing and support for such a foundation. Katherine says that she is already working on that with help from family, friends and families of the victims. Cohen recognizes that Katherine is doing this because of the emotional trauma of Mary's abduction as well as what has happened to other children in their cases. Katherine confirms it in a low tone and Saxe points out that it won't be easy creating a foundation, but it is a good idea. Then Drake calls and he informs his wife that Fitzgerald organized the escape, which shocks her, along with Cohen. Saxe asks who Fitzgerald is as he never heard of him. Cohen fills Saxe about Fitzgerald, his crimes and how Drake and Katherine took him down to protect his children and sister. Drake tells Katherine and the others on who else in their cases escaped, which shocks her even more, and says that they are searching for the escapees now. Katherine says that she has to call Robin to inform her that her evil brother has escaped.

Back in Southern Colorado, Drake, the FJU and the U.S. Marshals find the bus abandoned on the roadside. Holmes believes that they have switched vehicles. Dougherty orders all local and state police and U.S. Forest Service to search the area between Colorado Springs and Pueblo and alert all surrounding cities in the area. Drake suspects that they have gotten rid of their prison uniforms and donned new sets of clothing by this point. Fox says that a couple saw a man matching Sanchez's description stealing a station wagon and stab the driver, before heading towards the town of Fountain, not far from Colorado Springs, but they haven't seen any of the other escapees. Whitlock directs the FJU detectives to pursue Sanchez. Lincoln asks about the other escapees, at which Drake notes that they have to get Fitzgerald and the others too. Whitlock sends Holmes, Andrea and Lincoln after Sanchez while Drake, Ruiz and Redbird stay behind to help find the others.

Meanwhile, Finn and Mary finish their day at school. As they walk home, they notice Hayden and Donnie with their family, but uneasily avoid them. Then, Mary asked Finn about his plans as she suggests spending the night in, but Finn reveals that he is hanging out with Danielle. As Mary express her concerns about Finn seeing Danielle, he points out that they are just taking things slow. Later, Mary arrived back home from school. When Ryan asked her about Finn, Mary tells him that Finn is spending more time with Danielle. Ryan, having been getting curious about their relationship, seems surprised that Finn hasn't told the family yet. Mary guesses Finn is keeping his and Danielle's secret relationship secret due his break up with Hayden, with him being worried that he'd be seen as the "bad guy" but Ryan believe they should talk with to him. As Finn and Danielle spends time at 16th Street Mall, Finn reveals his desire to come clean to their families about their relationship, but Danielle is worried about her family's reaction. Finn tells her that he is fed up of hiding and wants to be honest. Danielle agrees with Finn about coming clean to their parents but then she share her own concerns about impact of having a normal relationship as she felt like she and Finn have been friends without benefits for months, instead of proper boyfriend and girlfriend. Finn tells Danielle that he doesn't want to take advantage of her if they takes things further. As Finn comforts Danielle, an unknown person is shown to be watching them.

Meanwhile in Fountain, Holmes, Andrea and Lincoln for Sanchez with Ford, Ellis, Nguyen and others. After awhile, Lincoln and Ford spot Sanchez on some railroad tracks and they pursue him, running along the tracks. Holmes, Andrea, Ellis and Nguyen head to the other side of the tracks as a train approaches. Holmes and Andrea cut Sanchez off, Andrea tackles him down with help from Holmes and Nguyen, and they take him in custody. Holmes demands Sanchez tell them where the other escapees have gone. Sanchez refuses to divulge an information their whereabouts. Holmes again demands where the other escapees, saying that he will tell them, one way or another. Sanchez defiantly says that they will be long gone before the authorities can even track them and only hints that Fitzgerald had outside help with his remaining connections, but refuses to disclose the information. The disgusted Ellis orders Sanchez to be taken away. Meanwhile, Drake, Ruiz, Whitlock and Redbird patrol the area. Then Fox spots one of the fugitives, Boulder bank robber Horace Jackowicz, driving by her and warns the others. Drake turns around and joins Fox in pursuit of Jackowicz. After a short car chase, they block Jackowicz in. Then Drake and Redbird arrive and take him into custody. Drake demands to know where Fitzgerald and the other escapees. Jackowicz refuses to cooperation and Fox orders him to be taken in custody, despite Drake's insistence to allow him to question Jackowicz further. Dougherty arrives and reports that they've also caught Sanchez, career criminal Frank Washington and Pueblo stabber Christopher Ludwig. But Fitzgerald and the 11 others are likely long gone, much to Drake's frustration.

Inside a semi-truck heading to the mountain highway, Fitzgerald and most of the other escapees are inside it with the truck driver being Hemmerling. Frye and Dressler tells Fitzgerald that most of them made it, but the authorities caught Sanchez, Jackowicz, Ludwig and Washington. Fitzgerald says that it doesn't matter since they are far enough away from any pursuers right now. Wilcox asks what the plan is and Fitzgerald says that they will lay low in the Rockies for awhile and then set up a plan in motion to get revenge on those who put them in prison. Spencer says that his father, Spencer Sr. who is revealed to have been killed in prison five months before, had left him a secret stash that's worth a lot of money and they could use that to finance themselves. Fitzgerald asks if he knows where it is and Spencer says that his father left him clues on where to track it, to prevent any inmates or guards from knowing where they are at. Fitzgerald tells him to track it down and get help from those who helped arrange their escape, noting that he has his own financial stashes. Then he adds that he wants his own revenge against the Sullivans, mainly Katherine, for putting him in prison, as the truck drives further down the mountain highway.

The FJU and the U.S. Marshals return to Denver with Dougherty seeing that local and state police will continue the search for the fugitives and local U.S. Marshals will be on the lookout. As Sykes, Katherine and Pearce met with them, Drake says that they got Sanchez and three other fugitives, but everyone else got away. Katherine suspects Fitzgerald picked the 9 other people they nabbed and convicted just to get back at them, the FJU and the D.A. Office. Sykes agrees and notes that everyone needs to be put on high alert from here on out until all the fugitives are back behind bars. Katherine tells Drake that she has informed Robin about her brother's escape. Drake asks her how Robin took it and Katherine states that she is shocked by her brother masterminding the escape and she's going to inform her family about it, including Justin and Brooke. Sykes, Peake, Dougherty, Payne, Chief Smith, Webb (who has been promoted to Special Agent in Charge after Franklin's promotion to Washington), and the heads of Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) later held a meeting with everyone in the FJU squad room. Smith tells everyone that a task force has been formed immediately in form of the U.S. Marshals, the FJU, a few of the other detectives from other squads, a few FBI agents, the D.A. Office, the CBI and the CSP to catch the other fugitives who evaded capture. They will ensure cooperation from all departments involved in the newly formed task force and they will appraise any leads, developments and whereabouts of all fugitives.

Meanwhile, Finn returns home after curfew after spending the day with Danielle. He tries to sneak into his room, but Mary and Ryan catch him in the act. Ryan question Finn about him returning late. Finn tries to lie to Ryan about where he was, but Ryan reveals that he know about him and Danielle, citing that he's known for months, since Mary overheard him talking to Danielle in his bedroom and confessing his love for her four and half months ago. Confused with Ryan's comments, Finn reveals that he told Mary about him and Danielle two weeks ago but Mary admits that she already knew about them. Ryan tells Finn that he supports his relationship with Danielle and will be there if he ever needs advice. Drake calls Ryan and informs him that Fitzgerald escaped, along with others from the FJU's past cases, which shocks him. After the call, he informs Finn and Mary of Fitzgerald's escape.

Meanwhile, Whitlock returns home and his wife unhappily greets him, indicating his marriage is falling apart. However, their two children 10-year-old Devon and 6-year-old Olivia are happy to see their father. Holmes gets home to Kim and their children; she reveals that his brother-in-law, Jennifer's husband, Chief Warrant Officer Theopolis "Theo" Carter, is coming back stateside on a permanent basis, which surprises him. Lincoln returns home to Cohen and John Jr. At the Sullivan house, Finn comes clean with Drake and Katherine about him and Danielle. As they discuss this, a doorbell rang and Katherine finds it's Robin, along Justin, Brooke and Robin's children. As Finn and Mary take the kids downstairs to the house's game room with Cody joining them, Robin admits that she and her husband, as well as Justin and Brooke, are terrified now that Fitzgerald escaped from prison. Drake and Katherine assures Robin that no matter how long and whatever it takes, they will get her brother, and all the others. Drake says to Robin that he has notified his cousin Jenny about Fitzgerald and the other escapees, and Katherine has called everyone else she can to warn them too.

After a moment, Robin gives Katherine some ideas about her planned foundation as they go over some plans for it as Drake goes check on D.J. and Arby. Finn heads to his room where he talks to Danielle on the phone and tells her that he has told his parents about them. Danielle reveals that she told most of her family members, but she haven't told her father yet and is worried about what his reaction will be. As Finn and Danielle discuss their plan of their relationship being public, an unknown person watches Finn from his bedroom window...

  • Daniel Di Tomasso (John Lincoln) is upgraded to series regular.
  • First appearance of Rob Brown (Sgt. Isaiah Whitlock).

#2 - "Brothers (and Sisters) In Arms"

A week after the prison break, the FJU is still hunting the fugitives with help from the U.S. Marshals and others involved. Drake feels frustrated over not finding Fitzgerald and the other escapees. Holmes goes to check on him, and he expresses worry, knowing that some of the fugitives, including Fitzgerald, will want revenge against him and his family. Then Pearce comes in and says that a pregnant soldier was found raped at her home and the FJU will team with Army CID for a joint investigation. Sykes tells them to focus on the case and they will update him if anything comes up with the fugitives. Once they arrive at the house, Holmes sees Jennifer as one of the CID agents. C.J. combs through preliminary forensics at the scene. Drake, Holmes and Jennifer go to question the soldier, Sergeant Tina Weaver, at Denver Memorial. There, Boyle reveals that they've completed the rape exam and are sending it to the crime lab. As they question Weaver, she reveals that she doesn't remember much; she had just gotten home from grocery shopping, when her attacker knocked her out from behind. She reveals he was wearing a distinct cologne, and she briefly regained consciousness and saw a tattoo of an eagle on his left hand.

As Drake and Holmes return to the FJU HQ, the latter is surprised to see his brother-in-law Theo (Sinqua Walls) in the bullpen chatting with some of their personnel and reunites with him. Drake gives him a warm welcomes him back given that they've both served in the military. Theo reveals that he is planning to surprise Jennifer. Holmes reveals that she is working the case with them and mentions Weaver's name, at which Theo reveals that he served with her once and that he considers her a good soldier. Holmes reveals that Jennifer is on her way the HQ, and Theo goes to the bunk room. As Jennifer and her CID personnel arrive, she tells her that the eagle tattoo that is common for those who served in the military, particularly the Army. Holmes acknowledges his sister is correct and says that they should talk in the bunk room. When they go in, Jennifer is shocked to see her husband Theo and they reunite. After Holmes leaves the room, C.J. enters, revealing that nothing on the rape kit as the rapist was smart enough to use a condom, but identifies the distinct cologne Weaver mentioned as Blue Velvet #1. With that information, the FJU find a shop that carries that particular brand of it. As that was happening, Frank, Terrell and Peter welcome Theo back home, and Theo reunites with his daughters. The family plans to go out for a reunion dinner at their favorite restaurant. Drake tells Holmes and Jennifer that they have a lead and the three go to work. Upon meeting Whitlock, Jennifer tells Holmes that one of her friends works in the Denver Bomb Squad with Whitlock and she was present with Whitlock made the miscalculation of a sophisticated bomb, which led to the deaths of two bomb squad officers, which Holmes already heard about.

Drake, Ruiz, Whitlock, Holmes and Jennifer check out the shop and they ask anyone if they saw a man with an eagle tattoo buying Blue Velvet #1. One clerk remembers selling to a former soldier name Dan Clooney, who has that eagle tattoo on his left hand. After raiding Clooney's last known address, they find out he isn't home. Upon looking at his files, the team finds out Clooney has severe PTSD from his time in the Army. His psychologist, not willing to break patient confidentiality, only hints that he is not responding well to treatment. With a warrant provided by Katherine, the psychologist states that Clooney had seen some fellow soldiers killed by an IED on the road and he was discharged for being unfit for duty. Jennifer asks where he is and the psychologist says that he's probably at his brother's place. After going into Clooney's brother's apartment, they find his brother Parker knocked out and no sign of him. Then Holmes spots him in the hallway and warns everyone. As Holmes and Jennifer chase him downstairs, Drake, Ruiz and Whitlock take the other stairway to cut him off. As they made it to the lobby, Whitlock gets hold of Clooney and fights him, eventually knocking him down the ground. As Jennifer arrests Clooney for the rape of Weaver, they bring him to the FJU. During interrogation by Jennifer, Holmes, Lincoln and Saxe, he resists attempts to get him to talk. Jennifer says that while the crime was committed under FJU's jurisdiction, the case is Army CID's since it was one of their soldiers who was raped. Drake and Saxe tell her Clooney will be tried in their court first and he will be theirs afterwards.

Meanwhile, as Katherine is going over case files, Andrea arrives and the two talk about Finn and Danielle's relationship. Katherine asks Andrea if she is happy with Danielle being involved with Finn; Andrea admits that she is happy for them, but reminds Katherine about times that their families have gotten caught up in craziness, including the discovery of Audrey, Danielle's romantic poems to Finn, the situation with Simon Jenkins's father and the parking garage explosion and cave-in. Andrea also points out Danielle's father Chris doesn't know about her daughter's relationship with Finn, and is worried about his reaction. She then opens up about her regret of giving Audrey away in the past and being absent for 19 years of her life. Katherine reminds Andrea that she is a good mother, and has made up for her absence. After Saxe successfully has Clooney remands, the case is tried by Judge Langston Julian (Henry Simmons), who has succeeded Wellington on the bench after his retirement. Fleiss assesses Clooney and notes that he has severe PTSD from his time overseas and his battle stress has become so deep that it has become part of his personality and it's impossible to reverse. Katherine and Saxe try to give Clooney a plea deal, but despite their best efforts, he refuses to take it. At the end of the trial, Clooney is convicted and will be tried in military court.

During the trial, at a favorite restaurant, Holmes and Kim celebrate Theo's return along with Jennifer and the rest of the family. At Whitlock's house, he finally returns home late, where his wife Monique unhappily berates him for coming late for home again. Whitlock states that he had to wrap up a tough case and they are still searching the fugitives who escaped. She says that's the U.S. Marshals' job, but Whitlock counters that few of them are from past FJU cases and they need their help to recapture them. Monique says that she and her husband's marriage has been on the rocks for the better part of a year, mostly due to his work hours, and she suggests they need to attend couple's counseling. Meanwhile, to celebrate Finn getting his driver's license, Drake and Ryan present him with a new Mercedes SUV that they got on sale from one of Ryan's friends; Finn is happy to have his own car. Later, after the celebration ended, Finn finds his SUV's tires have been slashed and warns his parents about it; they realize that someone is after them.

At the end, Holmes checks on Jennifer and Theo at their home with their daughters Iesha and Destiny. Whitlock sees Monique sleeping in the guest room, realizing that his marriage is drifting apart further. Andrea calls Chris and tells him that Danielle wants to see her father. Chris tells Andrea that he is busy with work, but she reveals Danielle wants to discuss something important. Back at the Sullivan house, the police and a tow truck are called for Finn's new SUV and one of Katherine's friends who is a mechanic decides to replace the tires as a favor. All the while, Finn feels slightly shaken by what has happened while an unknown person watches him from the shadows...

#3 - "Blast From The Past"

After the tires of Finn's new SUV are fixed, it is returned and placed in the Sullivans' garage. At the FJU, the team, along with the D.A. Office, is building a case against Mike Noonan (Alessandro Nivola), a prominent businessman looking to start a political career. Noonan is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting female employees, taking pornographic pictures of them afterwards, and using them to blackmail the women into staying silent. The evidence in the case is a video recording one of the victims made of her assault and the subsequent picture taking, and an audio recording of him threatening her over the phone. As Drake and Katherine are chatting about the case, Lincoln and Francis tells everyone that the evidence against Noonan has been stolen from the evidence lock-up and a senior cop on duty, Bill McCabe, is shot dead. Once the FJU arrives, they find out that only a rookie cop on duty, Frankie Harrington (Tanner Buchanan), the partner of McCabe, is on the scene and has been detained for questioning, and only one shot was fired. He is also found in possession of McCabe's gun, which killed him. They discover that he had access to the evidence against Noonan also. Frankie insists that he has been set up. As he is taken away, Frank's grandfather, Brendan Harrington (Joe Lando), watches on and sees his grandson arrested.

After being processed, he is brought into the D.A. Office, Frankie is being questioned by Katherine, Saxe, Cohen, Gomez and Tuttle. Frankie again insists that he was set up; he and McCabe were investigating a disturbance at the evidence lock up. They split up to cover more ground, and then he heard a shot fired from the other side. He rushed over, found McCabe dead with his sidearm nearby. Frankie picked it up out of instinct and then, the other cops arrived and saw him standing over McCabe's gun. Gomez figures that Frankie was working to with someone to steal the evidence and they killed McCabe when he stumbled onto them, and left Frankie to take the fall. Then Harrington shows up, defending his grandson as someone who would not never betray his honor. Gomez tells him about the evidence and the facts that Frankie and McCabe didn't really get along and that Frankie was struggling to pay back his student loans, but Harrington states that all of that is circumstantial, which means nothing to him. As the argument goes on, Saxe orders the court officers to remove him. But as they move in, Harrington punches Tuttle, and takes his gun. aims it at everyone. Saxe quickly leaves the room for help, as Harrington takes Cohen and Gomez's weapons. Wynn sees what was going on and alert security. Harrington takes Frank with him and forces Katherine, Cohen, Gomez and Tuttle to another office where Dixon, Diamantopoulos and Swastiak are and takes them hostage too. He forces Dixon to lock the door and has Katherine and Cohen close the blinds. Using Katherine as a hostage, Harrington orders every cop and D.A. Investigator to remove and leave their weapons, cuffs and keys and leave the floor. As the police, the FJU and SWAT are called in, Harrington has Katherine, Cohen and the other hostages secured. He tells everyone that he is not letting his grandson go to jail for something he would never do.

As the police, SWAT and the FJU arrive and block off the area, Drake, worried about Katherine, demands to know what happened and Saxe filled him in about it. After hearing Harrington's name, Drake reveals he knows about Brendan Harrington: he's a former Navy SEAL who engaged and led a lot of operations and he idolized him in the past while he was in the Marines. After checking out Harrington's file, they learn that he was in the Navy for twenty years, and has been awarded three Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and A Navy Cross. He raised Frankie when his son Henry, Frankie's father, died in a car accident, along with Frankie's mother Ellen. Capt. Donnell says that Harrington has locked down the floor, barricaded himself in, blocked all air vents, shut down the elevator and closed all blinds. Peake says that Harrington has seven hostages, including Katherine and Cohen. Drake and the everyone become shock. Back in the D.A. Office, Harrington inspects Katherine and the other hostages. Frankie, although shocked that his grandfather would take drastic measures to prove his innocence, reveals that Katherine's husband is a cop who was a former Marine. Katherine says that Drake will take him down if he harms her. Harrington says that he's a former SEAL, at which Katherine realizes that he's the man Drake idolized back in his military days. Harrington, liking what he is sees in her, tells her he wants her to help prove Frankie's innocence. Harrington calls in and Capt. Donnell answers, but he only wants to speak to Drake. Drake takes the call, informing that he has a bunch of guns and he will use them if anyone attempts to breach. He wants to talk to him face-to-face. Drake arrives in the office and meets with Harrington, who uses Katherine as leverage. Harrington says that Frankie has nothing to do with the hostage situation he started. He also tells him that he is keeping Katherine with him as leverage to ensure his cooperation. Drake says that there is evidence against Frankie, but Harrington states that he didn't raise him to betray his honor and the evidence is mainly circumstantial, which means nothing to him. He wants Drake and his people to re-investigate the case to prove his grandson's innocence and find the actual perpetrators responsible, and they have until midnight or he will start killing a hostage every hour, saving Katherine for last. He also wants two bulletproof vests, a TV and some food and drinks for the hostages and no booby traps in any items he demands. Katherine assures Drake she'll be fine and urges him to re-investigate the case. With that, Drake reluctantly leaves.

Meanwhile, Finn and Danielle talks about the incident on his new SUV tires as they have their lunch break at the school. When Danielle asked if anybody saw the person trashes his tires, Finn reveals nobody saw anything. She assures him that his father and the police will find the person who was responsible, but Finn starts to gets upset and wishes people would just leave him in peace, explains that he doesn't want everybody to worry about him all the time. Danielle comfort her boyfriend and promise him that everything will be fine. At the same time, Mary overhears Hayden talking to her friends about Finn at their lunch table. Mary interrupts Hayden's conversation and stands up for Finn, reminding Hayden that she broke up with Finn. Later, as Finn and Mary are about to return to their classroom, the principal gets their attention and tells them that their grandfather is here at school. They go to the office where Ryan tells them that their mother has been taken hostage, which shocks them. As they leave with their grandfather, Danielle follows them and asks answers about why they're leaving early. Finn informs Danielle about the situation with his mother; she wants to go with them, but the principal refuses to let her go. Finn promise Danielle that he will call her later, and she tells him she will pray for the best for Katherine.

Back at the evidence lock-up, Drake, Ruiz, Pearce and Lincoln examine the crime scene with C.J.'s help. Lincoln worries about Cohen being a hostage; Drake tells him that he feels the same way with Katherine, but they have to do their jobs to prevent them from being killed. Finding the position of McCabe's body, C.J. notices something odd about it. Remembering that he was shot with his own gun, he checks the telemetry of the shooting; he realizes that someone was wrestling for the gun and he was shot in the chest. He used the black light and notices blood spatter that was too spread out and realizes that someone else was blocking the rest of the splatter. Drake remembers that Frankie didn't have blood on his shirt, making everyone realize that Frankie didn't kill McCabe at all. Back at the D.A. Office, as the sun sets, Harrington and Frankie watch the news of the hostage situation on a TV in the officer. Katherine says that the FJU needs more time to investigate to clear Frankie's name; Harrington responds that his deadline will still stand. She then tells him about the case they were working that had its evidence stolen when Frankie was present. Harrington believes that there could be corrupt cops involved because otherwise they wouldn't have gotten inside the lock-up so easily. Frankie admits that he didn't see any cops inside while he and McCabe were patrolling the lock-up. Then Drake calls, reveals Harrington that they have found evidence that proves Frankie's innocence. Although Harrington, Katherine and everyone are glad to hear that, the former says that he still wants the people who set his grandson up. Drake suggests he should release some hostages as a sign of good faith since Frankie's innocence has been proven. After a moment of thinking and with Frankie persuading him, Harrington, seeing that Drake proved his grandson's innocence, agrees to release Katherine and Diamantopoulos, but the rest will stay. As they leave, Katherine tells Harrington that she will ensure the people responsible are caught. Katherine and Diamantopoulos make it out, and Drake embraces his wife. She asks how he discovered Frankie's innocence, but Drake replies that they got more important things to deal with at the moment. Quelling says that Noonan is denying any involvement of the evidence theft. Drake notes that he has a plan.

Later on, Drake and Katherine confront Noonan, accusing him of bribing corrupt cops to steal evidence against him and setting up an innocent cop that has resulted in the hostage situation. Noonan arrogantly denies any involvement, claiming that he is innocent of all accusations. Drake and Katherine tell him that Harrington knows about him and, given that he is a former SEAL, he will go after Noonan if he escapes from the D.A. Office. Noonan replies that this isn't over and if he gets off, he will get revenge; Drake tells him not to count on that. As they leave, Francis, Sykes and Whitlock check out the transmitter Drake secretly implanted with a judge's consent. They listen as Noonan makes a call to a cop name Worthy to find a way in the building to take out Harrington and Frankie; Worthy acknowledges. Francis runs the name and finds that the cop is Dylan Worthy, one of the officers on the scene of the hostage situation. Sykes calls Capt. Donnell about this; he has Holmes and Andrea keep an eye on Worthy since they don't know who else to trust. As Holmes and Andrea spot Worthy, they see him speaking to four other cops, including two SWAT officers. Andrea got closer and overhears their conversation about them to remove their loose ends. She took pictures of them and send to Holmes, who in turn relays them to Capt. Donnell. Capt. Donnell identifies the other cops as SWAT Officers Declan Jarvis & Vaughn Cutler, Detective Merle Szabo, and Sergeant Tommy Hellman.

At the D.A. Office, Cohen speaks with Harrington and Frankie about the situation; she tell them that, even if Frankie is proven innocent, Harrington will likely be charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and armed criminal action. Harrington remarks he will deal with that when the time comes as the phone rings. Harrington put the phone on speaker, and Drake tells him and the others that the cops who are involved in the evidence theft, McCabe's murder and framing Frankie are at the area, adding that two of them are SWAT officers and will likely try to take him out. Harrington acknowledges this before admitting that he doesn't care what happens to him as long as his grandson is safe and cleared of all charges. He sends the images of the cops involved to Cohen's phone. Frankie remembers seeing Hellman and Szabo a couple of hours before McCabe was killed. Gomez and Tuttle reveal that they previously investigated Worthy, Cutler and Jarvis on a kickbacks case, but they couldn't prove anything. Katherine says that while they may be involved, it won't be easy to built a case against them. As that happens, Worthy, Cutler and Jarvis secretly enter the vents in an attempt to assassinate Harrington and Frankie, while Hellman and Szabo plan to ensure no one traces back to them.

At FJU HQ, Holmes and Ruiz bring in Jim Seeder, the evidence technician on duty at the time of the theft and McCabe's murder, having gone into hiding after said crimes. Under interrogation, Seeder admits that the corrupt officers have been working for the other side of as a sort of "cleaner/fixer squad" for the past few months: they've helped rich criminals make evidence "go missing" or witnesses recant or disappear to weaken or derail the cases against them in exchange for payouts. Seeder admits that the officers also paid him repeatedly to look the other way on their actions; the day of the theft, they unexpectedly encountered McCabe while stealing the evidence against Noonan and he realized what they were doing. They offered him the same bribe to look the other way, but he refused to take the money and tried to detain them, so Hellman wrestled with him and then executed him with his own weapon, and Szabo called in the robbery and shooting, and accused Frankie to frame him.

At the D.A. Office, with Seeder's confession, the FJU and the other cops detain Hellman and Szabo, and Drake demands where the others are. When they refuse to reveal where they are, Drake realizes that they are already inside the building. Inside, Worthy and the others arrive at the vent of the office Harrington and the others are. Cutler lift a part of the vent panel and puts his silenced machine gun out. Drake warns Harrington about the corrupt cops coming to get them, and Cohen spots them just as they open fire. Harrington returns fire at the vents with two handguns, while Frankie grabs and fires a gun around. As Capt. Donnell orders the breach to stop the corrupt officers, Drake, Andrea, Whitlock, Lincoln and Redbird follow them. As Frankie gives Cohen her gun and the two shoot above, Harrington wounds Jarvis. Thinking ahead, he then rushes over to another spot as he, Cohen, Frankie and Swastiak cover fire. He went to another cover spot and fires at the corrupt officers, taking out Jarvis. He tosses a flashbang that was on Jarvis and throws to the other officers, setting off and blowing the vents open, causing Cutler and Worthy to fall out of the vents to the floor. As the FJU and SWAT arrives, Worthy knocks down Cohen and prepares to shoot Frankie, but Harrington pushes his grandson down and Worthy shoots him down. Drake, Frankie and a SWAT officer shoot Worthy dead as Andrea, Lincoln and SWAT detains Cutler. Frankie finds his grandfather dead and is distraught over his heroic sacrifice.

As everyone takes Hellman, Szabo and Cutler in custody, Katherine, along with Saxe, Ruiz, Holmes and Quelling arrest Noonan on additional add charges of bribery, conspiracy to commit theft and conspiracy in the murder of McCabe. The evidence against Noonan is also found and will be used against him at court. Drake and Katherine express their condolences to Frankie for his grandfather's death. Frankie thanks them for clearing his name and finding the real culprits and just wishes they could have done something more to save Harrington. Afterwards, Katherine reunites with the rest of her family.

As the D.A. Office is cleared out, Peake tries to find more evidence against Joseph and Harding to win the election. Lincoln and Cohen chat about his worries about her, but she assures him that she is okay. The two start to kiss and head for the bedroom. Chris turns up at Andrea's house where Danielle reveals her relationship with Finn. He expresses doubts due to how messy things tend to get around Finn and his family, and tries to discourage her from continuing to date him. Danielle becomes upset over his lack of support and calls him out for not even really knowing Finn or his family. As the Sullivans were about to head out, Finn makes a call to Danielle who is upset after her meeting with her father. He assures her that they will stay together in spite of what anyone says.

As Drake, Katherine and the others make it home, Raina, who is watching the twins, is glad that Katherine made it out alive, as is Nadia. As Finn and Mary feed Cody, Raina secretly reveals to Drake, Katherine and Ryan that a envelope came in the mail for Finn; she opened it and found a dead rat inside. She put the rat in a storage bag and threw it in the garbage. Drake and Katherine realize in horror that someone is targeting their son specifically, but decide not to tell him about the rat, not knowing that Finn has already overheard them.

#4 - "Half of a Conscience"

At Amanda's, Katherine goes over the plans for her foundation and trying figure out the name for it with help from Andrea, Dunnigan, Griggs, Grace, Grier, Lesniak, Crowe, Franelli, Emily and Robin. At another table, Drake speaks with Jenny about Finn being targeted for harassment. Jenny says that it will take time to find out who's going after him because it could be anyone, and she asks Drake if he knows anyone who would specifically target Finn. Drake names a few people, including Hayden and her family; Jenny says that it will take time for her to check them out, not to mention that she has a few other clients to deal with, which Drake acknowledges. Then Drake gets called in, saying that they have a lead on one of the fugitives and that he has to join the U.S. Marshals to help them out. Upon arriving, it is revealed that the lead is for Wren Loh, who is thought to be hiding with help of his old criminal network. Ford and Nguyen reveal that Loh was seen with two of his former associates at a closed down auto shop by a patrol unit, but they have lost track of him. Drake says that they should find the associates first so they can get Loh.

At the FJU, the task force works to find more leads on Loh's possible whereabouts. As Francis tracks down leads, he reveals to his colleagues that he and Spier have set the wedding a few days after New Year's. Holmes believes that one associate, Jimmy Chao, might take Loh to one of four locations that have previous connections to him. Dougherty assigns few of his Marshals and some FJU personnel to those locations to do surveillance work to see if Loh shows up to those locations. Pearce gets a call from Charles that an old associate of his wants him to get involved in a crime, which he doesn't want to, and he might need her help on this. She goes to Sykes about it and he agrees to help her out with Charles's situation.

While undercover in one of the hideouts, Drake, Ruiz and Fox stand by. Ruiz notices something is a little off with Drake and asks if everything's okay. Drake reveals that someone is harassing Finn, and that he and Katherine have Jenny helping them find out who it is. Ruiz says that if they need more help, they should come to Sykes about it. Drake agrees that he will do it if the harassment continues on. Fox, who overhears it, asks Drake about the harassment. After filling her in about what has occurred so far, Fox suggests some ideas on where to look for that person, also suggesting he to talk to Fleiss for an assessment on the harasser. Drake says that he'll think about those. Then Ruiz spots Chao entering one of Loh's old locations and alerts everyone. As backup arrives, Holmes and Ellis spot Loh along with with Chao and another associate leaving in the back. As Ellis and Lincoln catch Chao and another associate, Holmes pursues Loh on foot. As Drake and Fox cut him off, Holmes knocks down Loh after a brief fight. Drake and Holmes demand to know where Fitzgerald and the other escapees are, but Loh refuses to cooperate as they take him in custody. Drake wonders what Loh was up to in that hideout and he and the others decide to investigate. They discover that Loh has gotten in contact with some of his old connections and has brokered a deal to exchange girls for a cache of firearms that he intends to send somewhere.

Meanwhile, back in the FJU HQ, Terrell and Theo came to Holmes for help of Terrell's son Khalil. Khalil is revealed to have been offered a basketball scholarship at six colleges, but isn't sure of which one to pick. After helping Khalil sort through all of the college offers, they advise that that UCLA will be the best one for him. With that, Khalil agrees to go there the following fall. At the same time, Pearce and Sykes goes to Rivas and Spier about Charles's situation. With help from the Vice Unit, Pearce and Sykes helps Charles with their plan to get his former associate and the others involved to reveal what their plan is and catch them in the act so they can arrest them. With that, while wearing a bug planted in his baseball cap, Charles learns what his associates are up to: they are going to rob the U.S. Mint by hijacking their armored trucks. Wanting to catch them in the act, Rivas, Spier, Quan and the other Vice detectives, along with Pearce, stake out the Mint with Sykes overseeing things. As Charles and the others hijack the armored trucks as they leave the Mine, Vice, along with SWAT, move in and arrested everyone. Pearce bails Charles out, with his old associate realizing that he ratted him out. Pearce subsequently warns him if he goes after Charles, she will use all of her resources to ensure he will never see the light of day again.

Meanwhile, in interrogation at the FJU, Drake and Ruiz along with Katherine and Saxe, interrogate Loh and his associates into revealing where Fitzgerald and the other escapees are at as well as the eight girls he exchanged for weapons. Loh refuses to talk, but Chao is threatened to have his wife charged as an accessory since they found evidence he was using her car to transport the girls; this would lead to Chao's two children being sent into foster care. Backed into a corner, Chao reluctantly gives up the names of the men Loh exchanged the girls to. With that information, the FJU and the U.S. Marshals raid the locations to where the girls are held at, but find out the exchange for firearms has already been made. Afterwards, Chao takes the plea and gives the connection between Loh, the escapees and the people that Loh had connections with. The search for the other escapees remains ongoing; Katherine says that they hope to find Fitzgerald and the others soon. Drake reveals that Jenny is looking into Finn's harassment and he plans to talk to Fleiss about it, which Katherine somberly acknowledges. Then she reveals with help from friends and such, she reveals that she plans to expand the reach of the foundation to not only child victims, but their families, and the children of criminal offenders, and she has figured out the name of the foundation: the Help Our Children Excel & Develop (HOCED) Foundation. Drake approves the name.

During that time, Finn tells Mary about the dead rat sent to him in the mail. Mary says that he's got to find out who is after him. Finn reveals that their parents and Jenny are doing that and they don't know that he knows about the rat. Mary asks who he thinks would be out to get him. Finn figures it can't be one of their parents' enemies since he's specifically being targeted, but can't figure who beyond that. He later informs Danielle what is going on, and she promises that she'll look into things as well on her end, but it will take time.

At the end, Francis returns home to Spier where they share an intimate moment, Pearce brings Charles to their two sons as Sonya and their family looks on, Holmes and Kim watch Jennifer and Theo spending time with Franklin, Tyger, Imani, and Destiny. Drake and Katherine talk about what the next course of action to track who is harassing Finn will be. Finn then returns home and goes to his room, still greatly worried about who is after him.

#5 - "Immunity Flaws"

At the weekend, the Sullivans are eating lunch at home. Finn continues to wonder who could be harassing him and why; Katherine assures him that they will find who is after him soon. Then Drake gets a call from Capt. Donnell, who asks him if he's okay. Drake replies he is and asks why and Donnell informs him that he and SWAT have been sent by emergency dispatch that there is a hostage situation in their place. Drake quickly clarifies that there is no hostage situation and Capt. Donnell realizes that they are about to be swatted as he suspected since he knows that they've set up a security system in their house since the security company received no alarm of any kind which Andrea told him about, and they dealt with some swatting incidents before. Katherine becomes shocked upon hearing what's going on. Joe says that he wanted to be sure if the call dispatch had was a hoax or not and that he and his team will back off. After a moment, Drake asks when will SWAT arrive; Joe replies in ten minutes. Drake says that they will be ready; he wants to make their harasser has the upper hand by letting them think they succeed in swatting them. Joe says he'll inform his people to play along. Katherine, agreeing, tells Joe to try not to do too much damage to their home. Ryan says that he'll get the twins out of the house, while Finn and Mary get Cody downstairs to a room to keep him safe. Although Drake and Katherine tell Finn and Mary to leave, they decide to stay as the former says that it has to be his harasser behind this. Ryan takes the twins, pretending to take them to Raina's home for babysitting. As Ryan leaves the area with D.J. and Arby, the rest of the Sullivans come prepared as Joe and his SWAT team arrives. The team soon bursts in on Joe's order, and the the rest of the Sullivans play along. As the SWAT officers pretend to arrest Drake and Katherine, Joe says that they checked the callout and the voice behind it sounded like a woman, but they believe the caller use deepfake voice modulation to disguise their voice. Drake says that it has to be the one harassing Finn and Joe asks why. Katherine says that someone is targeting Finn specifically, recalling the incidences that have occurred prior to this. Joe says that he'll dispatch send the fake 911 call to the FJU. Drake tells him to make four copies of the call and sent them to him. Joe acknowledges and reveals that he has informed dispatch to ignore any more swatting calls on their residence until further notice, as his fellow SWAT officers release Drake and Katherine. They thank Joe for the warning and he wishes them luck as he and the officers leave the area, pretending to have been shocked by their mistake for whomever was watching from outside. Drake, Katherine, Finn, and Mary, are all relieved that it could've been a lot worse for them, but also feel slightly shaken by the incident.

Back in the FJU, everyone in the FJU gives Drake and Katherine support over the swatting incident. Drake and Katherine tell Andrea that they're lucky her brother got suspicious of the call and checked in on them, and knew about the security system they had in there. Andrea responds that they've got Danielle to thank for that for since she told her about the security system and she relayed the inform to her family. Drake gives one copy of the fake 911 call to Francis. He also reveals that they given a second copy to Jenny and Katherine will give a third to the D.A.'s Office. Whitlock asks if they have any other copies and they reply they have one more copy with them in case need it; Sykes tells Drake to keep it with them for now. Then he reveals that the squad has gotten a report of a woman being violently attacked and raped in her apartment and tells the squad to go investigate. Pearce also reveals that they are getting a new P.A.A. today. As Drake, Ruiz, Whitlock, Lincoln and Redbird investigate the crime, C.J. reveals his findings at the crime scene: he figures that the man attack the victim as soon as she opened the door, the two struggled, he overpowered her threw her on the couch, tore her clothes off and raped her. At Denver Memorial, the victim, Laurel Henderson, is treated by Kingston and Kim. Kingston reveals that they did a rape kit and sent it to the crime lab. Holmes and Andrea question the victim. She notes that everything happened so fast that she didn't know what hit her.

At the FJU, Lincoln suggests that they should wait and see if Laurel can come around and remember something, but Whitlock says that if they wait, the attacker might either disappear or have a chance to strike again. Lincoln says that pushing Laurel might further traumatize her, but Whitlock counters that they should search for evidence, preliminary forensics and such first, and give Laurel breathing room. Lincoln strongly believes that they may not find anything and Whitlock states that they won't through everything yet as they continued to clash about it. Sykes unhappily tells them to stop; he tells Lincoln that C.J. and the Forensics Unit are still combing through the apartment for clues at the moment and they must wait until the crime scene is processed and any found evidence is analyzed. Sykes then takes Whitlock to his office and tells him that they do all they can to find the perpetrators of all cases they work with all of their available resources. Whitlock states that they can't afford to make mistakes in their cases, not to mention the fugitives they are still chasing out there. Sykes notes that it doesn't mean that they give each a hard time about it and Whitlock counters that they need to extra work hard to ensure justice is done. Sykes reveals that he knows how the botched bomb defusing affected him and his marriage; Whitlock says that since he lost two of his men, his marriage to his wife Monique has crumbled to the point that they don't even sleep in the same room anymore. He also reveals that they are edges away from separation and he is doubtful that joining the FJU is helping their marriage. Sykes tells him not to let his personal problems affect his judgment, as it's something they can't afford and tells him to return back to work.

Meanwhile, Francis discovers something from the apartment building's security cameras: Laurel was previously visited by Liam Timmons (Jonathan Tucker), a rich executive for a security company who is well-respected in his company and his community; the visit took place three days before the attack. He reveals on the security camera at the lobby that Liam left the apartment building shortly during the approximate timeline when the rape occurred. Drake suspects that he might be the rapist, which Whitlock doesn't disagree, but they need more evidence to tie Timmons to the crime. As Whitlock goes to inform Sykes and the others, Drake asks Francis about the fake swatting call and he says that the woman's voice was indeed fake, disguised from someone else's voice. Drake believes the one who did the swatting was nearby when it happened, but doesn't know that he found out about it beforehand. Lincoln and Redbird arrive after checking out the evidence. Upon seeing Timmons's picture, Lincoln reveals he heard that Timmons was previously investigated for another assault against a woman three years before at a hotel, but the reports say he had a solid alibi for the night it happened. Investigating further, the FJU discovers that Timmons was present in the area where another rape occurred two months earlier at a nightclub. Sykes orders Timmons to be questioned for both rapes. Drake, Ruiz and Whitlock interrogate Timmons over being within the locations of the three rapes; Timmons denies any involvement citing that he had an alibi for the first one. Then Roosevelt came in, revealing that he's representing Timmons and he will not be answering questions. C.J. has got something on each case: he finds that a witnessed him leaving the scene of the first rape just 10 minutes afterwards, a man saw him with the second victim just before the second rape, and CCTV footage shows him near the third victim's apartment within the time frame of the third rape. With that, Timmons is arrested for the crimes.

At school, Danielle checks on Finn and Mary as she heard about the swatting. They tell her that they are glad that she informed her mother about the security system and relied to her uncle. Danielle says that since she has been seeing Finn, she knows about the security that he and his family had set up and she told her mother about it. Finn notes that it's a good thing she did or things might've turned out way different. Then, Mary sees Hayden talking to her friends near the corridor, laughing about something. She whispers to Finn that Hayden might be behind the harassment; Finn admits it's possible given that they didn't end on the best terms, but doesn't feel it to be likely. At Timmons's arraignment hearing, Saxe asks the judge to remand him since he is considered a flight risk due to his wealth, but Roosevelt counters that the charges are unfounded. The judge sets high bail on Timmons and forces him to surrender his passport pending trial. As Katherine, Cohen and Quelling go over the case with help from Wynn, Peake comes to them, revealing that the second rape victim got arrested by ICE in a raid due to being an illegal immigrant, along with many others at the shop she worked in. Katherine and Cohen go to ICE about it, whose lead official refuses to release the victim, but reveals that they got a tip from someone about illegal immigrants on the shop and they raided it. Katherine immediately figures Timmons or his legal reps are behind it in order to weaken the case. During trial with Judge Pratt presiding, Katherine has Laurel testified about what Timmons did to her. However, Roosevelt, with Stetler's help, manages to discredit Laurel's testimony due to her having a past history of heavy drinking, during which she had accused another man of sexual assault while drunk, but later recanted.

Afterwards, Cohen and Quelling find other victims of Timmons, but they are from over 20 years ago when the executive was in college. The two previous victims, Natalie Uecker and Katie Sasso, reveal their stories of how Timmons raped them both when they were in college. Although the statute of limitations in their cases has expired in the last few years before, they gave their testimonies in an evidentiary hearing. Then Quelling reveals that he and Cohen found a woman name Leslie Preston who is the sister of Timmons' more recent victim Heather Preston, who had committed suicide. Leslie reveals that Timmons raped Heather in her condominium and she told her about it, before driving her car off a mountainside highway to commit suicide. Despite forensic investigations, there isn't enough evidence on that case to bring charges against Timmons and Pratt reluctantly disallows Uecker and Sasso's testimony due to the possibility of it biasing the jury. Subsequently, Roosevelt motions to dismiss the case against Timmons, which Pratt grants with much reluctance. Despite Timmons having his freedom, Uecker, Sasso and Leslie go public about what he did to the former two and Leslie's sister and they work with Laurel to file a class action lawsuit against him. As a result, Timmons' reputation is tarnished, his company pushes him out, his friends abandon him, his wife files for divorce and full custody of their children, and nearly all of his assets are frozen pending the result of the divorce and lawsuit, leaving him nearly destitute. Therefore, Stetler and Roosevelt's chance to get back at the Sullivans ends up not getting the results they'd hoped for.

During the case, the new P.A.A. arrives and it turns out to be Richter's son, Brian. Brian says that since his mother's death, he has wanted to find a way to honor her memory and he figured that he could do so by helping the police out in some capacity. The FJU welcomes him onboard. Whitlock informs Brian that he knew his mother when she was working undercover ops and expresses his condolences. After the trial has ended, Timmons angrily confronts the FJU and Katherine for ruining his life now that he's broke and an outcast. Drake says that he ruined his own life the moment he decided to rape those women. Timmons says if he had the resources, he would sue them for defamation. But Brian stands up for the FJU and the others to him, saying that only he is to blame for losing everything due to his crimes against his victims, who decided to not to let fear and shame hold them back anymore and to go public about him and suing him as justice for themselves. Deflated, Timmons leaves, and Drake, Katherine and everyone gives their approval. Later, Drake and Katherine speak to Fleiss about their son's harasser; she gives them her note: the harasser has a strong and vengeful grudge and is willing to go to any lengths to hurt Finn, even if it means hurting his family too. Francis comes over and informs Drake and Katherine that he found which deepfake voice modulation the caller used to "swat" them. He and C.J. the show them the deepfake voice technology noting that it's some pretty advanced stuff. Drake theorize that the harasser must have solid knowledge of technology to have pulled this off.

Later, after the Sullivans came home, Ryan reveals that he heard about Stetler and Roosevelt winning the case, but that it was a pyrrhic victory since Timmons's reputation and life are destroyed. While tending to the twins, Katherine notes that even though she lost the case, she is actually satisfied with the results since Timmons still got some kind of punishment: he life is destroyed, he has no money, and his family, friends, associates and connections have abandoned him, this denied Stetler yet another chance for revenge. As Finn and Mary come home, the two admit that they are still shaken by the fact that someone swatted them, but are glad that they were warned in advance. Drake states that the reason why they played along is to ensure the caller thinks they successfully swatted them unexpectedly, so they can find out who it is that targeting Finn right now. Jenny shows up and reveals that she may have found where the call came from. She heard voices far away from the background and someone call a child named Alberta, which happens to be the name of is the neighbor's daughter, making them realize that the harasser called from the street corner near their home; they realize from this that the caller was watching them. Drake and Katherine warn Finn and Mary to keep their guards up at all times; the two agree to this as the family decides to start their night.

#6 - "The Worst Kind of Evil"

At a nearby elementary school, 8-year-old Natalie McTeague is hanging out with friends as they are leaving school for the day. As Natalie is heads to the city bus stop since the bus stops in her neighborhood, a man in a car follows her closely. When no one else is around, the man pulls over ahead of her, stops the car, comes out and opens the trunk, pretending to get something from it. As Natalie walks by, he quickly grabs her, puts her in the trunk and leaves quickly. A woman, who sees what happened, rushes out of her house, and sees the car taking off. She then takes out her phone to call the police.

Meanwhile, Drake and Katherine arrive in at FJU HQ, the two discuss the situation of Finn being targeted. Drake says that Jenny and the others are actively investigating and Finn and Mary are keeping their guard up. After a brief pause, Katherine says that she is searching for a suitable location for her foundation with help from Robin, Emily and others after their meeting at Amanda's. As they got in, Sykes says that they and the U.S. Marshals have found nothing new on the fugitives yet. Then Pearce comes in, saying that there's been a reported child abduction. As Drake, Ruiz, Holmes, Andrea, Whitlock and Redbird arrive, the officers reveals Natalie's name, which shocks both Drake and Ruiz, since her mother is Homicide Detective Samantha "Sam" McTeague (Alexa Davalos), whom they went to the police academy with. They question the woman, who saw the man responsible and the car he drove, and she reveals one of her neighbors has a doorbell monitor which could help; Whitlock sends Holmes and Andrea to said neighbor to check it out. Then McTeague arrives, frantically wanting to know what happened to Natalie. Drake and Ruiz reveal they just started questioning people and pledge that they will do everything possible to bring Natalie home. Just then, Holmes and Andrea come over and reveal what they just discovered from the neighbor's doorbell monitor: the abductor's face, which reveals him to be Alvin McNamara, aka "The Maple Rapist" , which horrifies McTeague even more.

The FJU and the U.S. Marshals go all-out to find McNamara and rescue Natalie. Ruiz reveals to Drake that McTeague is separated from her husband David due to her dedication to her work and David's work as a successful college professor and scientist. David then arrives and angrily confronts McTeague about their daughter's abduction, but McTeague points out it was his idea to allow Natalie to take a city bus home which she didn't agree with, causing Drake, Ruiz and Whitlock to interfere and calm things down. Sykes tells Drake, Ruiz and Francis help the U.S. Marshals with McNamara's profile while having Holmes and Andrea continue tracking down the car McNamara drove; Holmes and Andrea go with Dougherty, Ellis and Nguyen to track down the car. McTeague wants to go and help them find Natalie, but Sykes tells her that she can't since she is the victim's mother and he has already discussed it with her captain, who has also benched her. McTeague reveals that she knows about McNamara and what he did to his victims before his incarceration and is mortified at the thought of him doing the same, or worse, to her daughter; Drake and Ruiz tells her that they are doing everything possible to find Natalie before that can happen. Katherine arrives and helps console McTeague, as she and Drake understand the feeling of their children being kidnapped.

At home, Finn was caring for the twins alone due to Ryan was running an errand and Mary is at swimming practice. Then he hears the doorbell and finds a man claiming to be a deliveryman, who says that he has a package for him. Finn is confused as he hasn't ordered anything as of recent, and the deliveryman says that the contents inside the package were mailed to him. Taking precautions and not knowing who sent it, Finn refuses to sign for the package and advises the man to have it returned to sender. After a moment, the deliveryman acknowledges and apologizes. Shortly after he leaves, the deliveryman makes a call, saying that Finn refused the package and doesn't seem to know what was inside it, as he wonders what is going on. The man on the other line says that they will investigate further.

Meanwhile, At the D.A.'s office, Peake sends Quelling to check out Joseph at at the charity event. While at the event, he sees Joseph chat with some people before heading somewhere else. He follows the judge and spots something that surprises him: Joseph taking a cash payout from several men. Quelling quickly relays this to Peake, who decides to do a little more investigating before confronting Joseph.

Back the FJU HQ, Andrea and Holmes return and reveal that the car was a stolen vehicle and they found it ditched at the storage facility not far from Elitch Gardens. Francis checks out the security cameras in the area; he finds via traffic cameras that McNamara now has a covered truck that drove by the Wells Fargo Center and turned south about 22 minutes ago. Fleiss gives her assessment on McNamara is his current state of mind: he has a new victim and is eager to have his way with her, but likely won't do so until he feels the police are off his tail for good. Redbird comes in and reveals the traffic cameras have spotted the truck heading towards Cherry Creek State Park. At the same time, Katherine consoles McTeague, who is dreading over Natalie being in danger and feels the urge to go out and find her on her. Then Pearce reveals that the truck that McNamara is driving is heading to Cherry Creek State Park. Many FJU detectives and U.S. Marshals head to the park.

Meanwhile, Ryan returns home from his errand and notices Finn is acting strangely. Finn tries to tell him, but they get interrupted when Danielle turns up with Piper. As Piper spends time with DJ and Arby, Finn tells Danielle about the deliveryman turning up with the package, and his refusal to accept it. She asks him what his deliveryman looks like, and Finn reveals the details, but also notices Danielle's strange reaction. She then admits a delivery man turn up on her doorstep hours earlier, carrying a package which he said he was for her boyfriend. She then shows Finn the photo of her deliveryman outside of her house as they quickly realize he's same person who turns up at Finn's doorstep. Finn asks Danielle if she mentioned anything, but she assures him that she didn't tell the man anything and sent him away. As Danielle is curious on how the man know where she lived, Finn believes the original sender of the package sent the deliveryman to Danielle's house as a backup plan with the hopes that she might deliver the package to him.

At Cherry Creek State Park, the FJU detectives and the U.S. Marshals arrive. Colorado State Police detectives and Arapahoe County Sheriff deputies help in the search. The truck McNamara drove in comes up empty. As Katherine arrives with McTeague, Drake, Ruiz, Whitlock and Redbird, along with Ford and Fox, see McNamara in the Pelican Bay Marina walking down the dock with a water cooler in tow. As they walked over to McNamara, he sees them and makes a run for it, leaving the cooler behind. Redbird catches up to him shoves him off the dock into the water. As Drake and Ruiz search around the marina, Redbird grabs McNamara by the hair, shoves him under the water, pulls him up after a few moments, demanding to know where Natalie is. When he refuses to tell, Redbird shoves him under the water again and pulls him up after a few moments. He sternly asks McNamara where Natalie is, warning him that next time he goes under, he won't come back up. McNamara instead spits in Redbird's face, and he again shoves him underwater, refusing to let him back up. Whitlock comes across him and tells him to pull McNamara up, but Redbird refuses. At the same time, Fox and Ford, after looking around with no luck, notice the cooler McNamara left behind. Acting on a gut feeling, they rush over, break the lock, open it, and find Natalie inside, bound, gagged and sedated. They call to the others that they've got her, and Drake and Ruiz rush over, while Redbird finally pulls McNamara up, and he and Whitlock pull him out of the water and arrest him as Katherine and McTeague arrive. The latter sees Natalie and is relieved that she is still alive, but sedated. As Whitlock and Redbird were bringing McNamara, McTeague angrily confronts him for kidnapping her daughter. McNamara defiantly spits on her, causing McTeague to punch him in the nose in retaliation as they haul him away.

Back in the D.A. Office, Cohen and Quelling return to Peake's office and reveal the identity of the men Joseph received the cash payout: representatives of Danford Chemcorp, a chemical manufacturing company known for committing multiple environmental violations. Peake realizes that Joseph is in cohorts with them and doesn't care about the environmental hazards the company is causing. After a moment, he calls Harding and informs her that he has dirt on Joseph that they both should use on him. After sending it to her, Harding does thank Peake for dirt on Joseph, but figures that he is doing it for his own reasons. Meanwhile, Drake and Katherine are called into Finn and Mary's school, where they are met by the principal, Agent Hamilton and the deliveryman, who is actually undercover FBI agent Spurgeon Newman. They reveal to them that a suspicious package was set for delivery to their house and open it to reveal it to be filled with kiddie p**n magazines. Hamilton reveals that the site that sells said magazines has been under FBI investigation for some time, and they arrested the original deliveryman and had Newman go undercover in his place. However, they are confused since it was paid under Finn's credit card and yet he refused to sign for the package when it arrive in their house. Drake and Katherine realize that Finn's stalker lift his credit card number and brought kiddie p**n as part of their revenge campaign against him. Newman then asks Drake and Katherine about Danielle, whom they reveal is Finn's girlfriend; he then revealed the same package was sent to Danielle's as a reverse address. He admits he wasn't aware of Danielle's connection to Finn, and was worried that she might've been another victim until he realized that somebody tried to use Danielle to send Finn the package. They tell Hamilton, Newman and the principal about the stalker who has been harassing Finn, and the evidence they provided for it, including the fake SWAT call against them. Hamilton believes them, but strongly advises them to cancel Finn's credit card ASAP, which they agree to do so. As they leave, someone was watching and he quickly pounds his fist on the wall as he walks away.

At the FJU HQ, Sykes, Whitlock and Saxe berate Redbird for his extreme interrogation methods on McNamara, telling him that he can't go all Jack Bauer on suspects, no matter who they are. Redbird says that they were all trying to find Natalie and he would've had raped her if they hadn't found her when they did. Sykes says that regardless of that, they found Natalie without getting an answer out of McNamara, while Whitlock says that there is no excuse for such excessive interrogation tactics under any circumstances, and that if McNamara wasn't an escaped fugitive, he would sue him and DPD for police brutality. Redbird says that they have plenty of evidence against McNamara for kidnapping Natalie and that it is rock solid. Saxe says that while this is true, and McNamara will be sent back to prison while they question him for the whereabouts of Fitzgerald and the other escapees, he also reminds him of his numerous past actions against pedophiles due to his sister being a victim of one. Sykes notes that this is hardly the first incident of such, and that both he and Winder have warned Redbird about toeing the line since the incident with Tully Grissom, but he keeps pushing his luck. As as result of this, Sykes reassigns him to patrol until further notice. Redbird is greatly upset about being demoted and lashes out, and Sykes warns him that if he keeps acting insubordinate, he'll find himself suspended or worse. Realizing that he can't win this argument, Redbird defiantly snarls that he doesn't need Sykes, the FJU or anyone else telling him how to handle his issues and storms out.

At the interrogation room, Ruiz, Holmes, Ellis and Fox interrogate McNamara for the whereabouts of the other escapees, while Katherine returns with McTeague to observe alongside Pearce, Dougherty and Nguyen. McTeague says that Natalie is in the hospital with David alongside her. McNamara refuses to disclose where the other fugitives, but does confess that they are having outside help and Fitzgerald told him to target Natalie based on whoever's helping them outside. Katherine, McTeague and the others are shocked by the revelation. Ruiz realizes that they wanted him to take Natalie because her mother went to the police academy with him and Drake, and demands who the outsider helping the fugitives is, but McNamara doesn't know and refuses to cooperate any further. With that, McNamara is escorted out and to be put back in prison.

Meanwhile, Drake and Katherine arrive at their house with Newman where they talk with Finn and Danielle who is shocked to see Newman, quickly recognizing him as the deliveryman. Newman promises he is not here to scare them again, and reveals he want to asked them about something. Finn and Danielle tell him everything they know about the former's stalker; he then tells Drake and Katherine his belief that they should keep apart since Finn's stalker could come after Danielle, given that they know where she lives. Drake then reveals that Danielle comes from a family of police officers, so the stalker wouldn't dare target her lest they wish to bring the full force of the DPD onto them. Meanwhile, McTeague comes in with Natalie and they thank the Sullivans for all their efforts to find her. McTeague also notes that she understands why Redbird did what he did to McNamara, but acknowledges that as a cop, he crossed the line. Katherine tells them that she is establishing the Help Our Children Excel & Develop (HOCED) Foundation, but needs a good location for it. Inspired, McTeague recalls a foster home that might be perfect. She drives Katherine to a former foster home that is up for sale. It has twelve bedrooms, a large living space, a kitchen and a good size backyard with a playground and a swimming pool that is fenced. After looking at it, Katherine accepts that location since it's in between her home and work and is the a right size for it; she thanks McTeague for helping her find the perfect location.

At the end, Cohen and Quelling kept their eyes on Joseph and Redbird reports to patrol the following shift. At Amanda's, Katherine shows Drake, Ryan, Finn, Mary, Raina and Nadia the foster home for her foundation and they are happy to find a great place for it. They all like the location and Katherine says that Robin and the others are looking for generous donors willing to help. Drake suggests Crowe as one of them and the personnel in Station 40 to help out with it too. Grace, who is in the restaurant, overhears it and agrees to talk to her fellow firefighters since the foundation is a good cause. Then Whitlock enters the restaurant, looking upset. Sykes asks what his problem is and Whitlock reveals that Monique left him and took the kids because he failed to show up to a birthday party of one of his wife's relatives, among other things. Sykes has him join them on the table. Drake tells Finn that his credit card has been canceled, which Finn is mixed about. He ultimately acknowledges that it's necessary until this stalker is caught. With that, the family decides to continue enjoying their night. Elsewhere, the man stalking Finn checks out a letter sent by someone and calls said person, who turns out to be Stetler using a voice changer, who asks if he got the package and the stalker says that he did, along with the letter on it. The stalker is somewhat glad that he is getting help after he sent the dead rat to Finn. Stetler says that he saw him put the rat in the mailbox with Finn's name on it and that's when he saw an opportunity to help. The stalker, surprised by it, asks if he will get back at Finn with he just got and Stetler tells him to wait a few days and then follow through it. The stalker acknowledges and Stetler tells him not to fail again before hanging up and leaving the building that he is in.

#7 - "From the Shadows - Part 1"

The FJU investigates a house explosion that kills a woman, but discover the explosion was deliberate to cover up a violent crime. Meanwhile, Finn refuses to be isolated from real world and becomes determined to spend time with Danielle as the Sullivans continue to track down who is harassing them. Also, Redbird struggles following his reassignment to patrol (which has some new rookies in its ranks) and finds himself seeking comfort from Audrey.

#8 - "From The Shadows - Part 2"

After steroids are found in Finn's locker and a drug test on him comes back positive, the Sullivans team up with the FJU, Jenny and other allies to expose the harasser responsible.

#9 - "Pursuit Force"

Weeks after Ben Gillespie's arrest, the Sullivans' lives have begun to return to normal. Katherine gets ready for the upcoming opening of her foundation; she reveals to her family that they are getting donations from friends from Denver Memorial and Station 40, as well as some of their friends, colleagues and families of the victims to keep it running. Drake says that some victims from past cases are also stepping forward to donate. Katherine reveals that the living room of the house that be the foundation's center will be where children and their families can talk about what happened to them in group sessions, the bedrooms downstairs will be used as either playrooms for children and where they can discuss what happened to them in private sessions with counselors, the kitchen will be use to teach children how to cook to help reach out of them, the backyard will be use for children to play in and host events and the swimming pool will have lifeguards where the children will learn how to swim. Ryan makes some suggestions for the foundation, including add a small garden to grow both plants and some produce that the kids and volunteers can contribute to and help with. Then Drake gets a call that the FJU and Marshals have a lead on one of the fugitives.

As Drake arrives at FJU HQ, Sykes and Dougherty reveal that Jamal "J-Good" Goodson has been spotted on a state highway with a few other men in Commence City. Drake suspects that Goodson is planning something with Fitzgerald's assistance, which Sykes and Pearce agree with. Whitlock reveals the men with him are hired criminals and probably are doing Goodson's own bidding. Nguyen wonders how a wanted fugitive could bring in hired guns and Drake believes that Fitzgerald probably recruited them to help Goodson with something. He reveals that he, Holmes and Kruger caught Goodson when he was about to sell six young girls to the highest bidder a few months before Kruger was killed in the line of duty. Ellis wonders why would Goodson and his hired guns be in Commence City. After a moment, Holmes says that it is nine miles north of Denver and they are like planning something there that plays into Fitzgerald's goals. Dougherty suggests that they all should go to where they were last seen and investigate. At the location, Commence City officers reveal to Drake, Holmes, Whitlock, Ellis, Fox and Nguyen that a friend of one officer saw Goodson and a few men enter two vehicles and drive south towards Denver. One of them also reveals that Goodson was previously spotted in an empty house up for sale in Central Park, out by the old Stapleton Airport. They check out the home and find no one there, but do find a plotting board there that was used, though whatever was on it has since been removed. Drake and Ellis believe that Goodson is heading to Denver for something big; Whitlock states that they need to find out what it is and fast.

Back in the FJU, Holmes is surprised to see Terrell, Peter and Theo in the squad room. They reveal that their family friend, Derrick Winfield, got into an auto accident and his insurance company, HeathCove Insurance, won't cover the damages or medical bills. The shocked Holmes refers to a law firm that he knows that can help sue the company to get his insurance money. Theo adds that HeathCove seems to have a reputation for being notoriously slow to pay claims or just straight up not paying at all, despite charging massive premiums. With Frank's help and connections, they learn more about HeathCove; they have been under investigation for financial fraud by multiple federal agencies, including the FBI. They also find a former secretary, who reveals some damaging evidence against HeathCove; the higher-ups are making plans to take as much of the stolen money as possible and flee to a non-extradition country. After convincing the secretary to testify to the FBI, Webb and her agents raid HeathCove HQ officer and arrest the higher-ups including the President, CEO, CFO, COO, several VPs and multiple board members.

Meanwhile, the FJU and the U.S. Marshals continue to try to figure out what Goodson and the others are up to. Knowing Fitzgerald, Drake believes that he wants to make several people pay for helping put him away before. Andrea states that knowing Goodson also, he also would try to get back anyone who helped for put him away, since being locked up cost him a chance to go big in the criminal underworld. Ruiz, Lincoln, Ford and Nguyen reveal that several of Fitzgerald's original accomplices were secretly killed in prison after they pleaded out in exchanged for their testimonies against him. Elsewhere at Robin's house, Katherine shows her that the foundation is nearly complete and the main center open in a few days. Then her laptop makes a beeping noise, signifying she's getting a video call request. She accepts it and it is revealed to be Joey calling. Katherine asks what's up and her brother shows Sarah holding their newborn son in a hospital room. Katherine is elated to see that she now has a nephew; Joey reveals his name is Christian Gordon Ashford, in honor of their father Gordon and cousin Christian. Katherine sheds happy tears upon hearing this, and Joey says that they will visit whenever possible. Katherine says that she will soon and promises to call back later before ending the video call; Robin congratulates her on her nephew's birth.

At the same time, Francis informs Drake, Lincoln, Sykes and Pearce that he has found something about one of the men Goodson is with. He reveals that henchman, Colin Silk, is known to get into cryptocurrency information. Everyone wonders what Goodson and his men are really up to based on their findings. Drake gets a call from Katherine, informing him that Joey and Sarah have had a son, their nephew; Drake is elated to hear this. Then he reveals the information of Goodson's activities and having Silk with him. Katherine says that she heard of him since a friend of hers investigated him for the theft of crypto funds, but couldn't find any evidence to tie him to the crime. Then Ruiz and Dougherty rush in with the news that Goodson and another henchman are heading towards a residential area where Robin's house is at, three others are heading to a school where Robin's children attend, and two others are heading to where Justin and Brooke are at. Upon hearing this, Katherine tells Drake to get Robin's family to safety immediately; Drake informs her that Holmes and Andrea are coming to her with backup, as she escorts Robin down to the basement.

At the school, Drake arrives with Ruiz, Whitlock, Ford and Ellis. They find Robin's children Brian and Laura, and spot the men coming in. As Drake and the others surround them, one of them draws a gun, forcing Whitlock to shoot him down. As the other henchmen retreat, one tries to shoot back at the surrounding cops, but Drake shoots him dead. The third henchman keeps running, but Ruiz and Ford quickly capture him. At the school where Justin and Brooke are students, Pearce, Lincoln, Francis, Dougherty and Fox surround the men before they can get out of the car. At Robin's house, Katherine sees Goodson and another henchman arrive, while Goodson observes Silk send the crypto key to a secure email address. He then calls Fitzgerald on the secured line, informing that they send him the crypto key. Fitzgerald sees it and is pleased to see that crypto key that will unlock a crypto wallet containing more of his illicit funds. Goodson says that he and the others are going after his family now. Fitzgerald tells him to bring his children to him and get the others who put him in prison soon, but Goodson advises that the authorities are on to them. Fitzgerald tells him to remove any evidence he's got now so he and the others will remain hidden. With that, Goodson pulls the sim card from the phone while Silk deleted all files on the computer. Goodson tells Silk to make sure the evidence is destroyed while he's going inside to get Robin. As Katherine sees Goodson enter, she puts some butter in a frying pan and turns on the electric-induction stove as she hid away. As Goodson breaks in, he searches inside the house. After a bit, he heard sizzling noises in the kitchen. As Goodson looks at the kitchen and sees butter and cheese being melted in the frying pan, Katherine kicks him from behind, causing him to lose his gun. As she was about to draw her handgun, Goodson swipes it out of her hand. As they fight, Katherine punches and backfists him in the face, stomps his foot hard, and knocks him to the ground. Goodson tackles her down the ground and lets out a thin wire to try to garotte her. Katherine elbows him twice in the abdomen and pushes him to the wall from behind, releasing her. As Goodson pushes her to the basement door, Katherine sidesteps around him and elbows him in the back. When he turns around, Katherine slugs him in the face and delivers two roundhouse kicks to the head. Then she performs a spinning back kick on Goodson's head, sending him to rolling down the basement stairway, knocking him out. During the fight, Holmes, Andrea and Nguyen arrive and as the latter two arrest Silk, Holmes heads into the house and finds Katherine looking down the stairway. He sees Goodson unconscious at the bottom as Robin slowly came back upstairs.

While this is all happening, Cohen and Lincoln are enjoying their day at home when the doorbell rings and Cohen is surprised to see her father Safa and brother Tariq. Safa reveals that he has retired from Chicago PD after 30 years of service and is visiting to learn the new man in his daughter's life. Cohen introduces Lincoln to her father, much to his surprise. Tariq says that he informed their father about Lincoln. Safa tells Lincoln that he wants to know about it. Lincoln reveals his past, including being a family member of the Zambrano mob family in New Jersey and such. However, he assures Safa that he has nothing to do with his family's alleged criminal activities. After a long talk, Safa somewhat voices his approval of Lincoln. Elsewhere, Redbird and Audrey are on patrol when they spot a gang robbing a bar and restaurant. As Audrey calls for backup, Redbird peeks in and counts five men involved. When one of them threatens a man and his family, Redbird sneaks in. Then he grabs that gunman from behind and tosses him into one of the other ones, knocking them both down. Audrey comes in to help as one of the men aims his gun at Redbird, who quickly shoots and wounds said robber, while Audrey tackles the fourth gunman. Then Redbird knocks down one of the other men, while the bartender takes out his shotgun, aiming it at another. Redbird chases the last one to the back of the bar, eventually catching up to him in the alley and tackles him down. As he brings the last suspect back inside in the bar, Audrey kept guard on the detained robbers as other officers arrive and secure the scene. After they debrief the officer-in-charge, it is revealed the men were wanted for multiple robberies throughout the state of Colorado. As Redbird and Audrey head back to work, it is reveals the former has been getting calls and texts from some of the FJU personnel reaching out to him, but he ignores them due to his anger towards them. Audrey notices this, but Redbird refuses to discuss it. She later speaks on Redbird's behalf to her mother and the other FJU members, revealing that she thinks that Redbird feels lost without the FJU and betrayed by his reassignment, and that maybe if they re-opened the door for him to come back, maybe he'd be receptive to it. Sykes informs her that the door for Redbird to return was never closed and he would like to see him return, but that if he wants back in, he has to learn to take responsibility for and control his anger towards pedophiles and rapists, and not let it get the better of him anymore. Audrey later relays this to Redbird, leaving him in thought.

Meanwhile, at the interrogation room, Drake, Holmes, Whitlock, Saxe, Ford and Fox interrogate Goodson for the whereabouts of Fitzgerald and the other remaining escapees as Katherine, Sykes, Peake and the others watch on. Goodson refuses to tell them anything. Drake berates him for attacking his wife, noting that he made a big mistake going for her. Francis, C.J. and Nguyen reveal to Katherine, Sykes and Dougherty that Goodson and the others destroyed much of the evidence, but they did find a list of people that is soon confirmed to be a death list. Katherine sees her and her family are on the list since they personally took him down, as well as Robin, her family, Cohen, the FJU personnel and their families and others. They present it to Drake and the others and Sykes advises everyone to keep their guard up at all times since they are all in the escapees' crosshairs now.

At the Sullivan house, Drake and Katherine return home and reunite with their family. Drake asks his wife if she's okay after fighting with Goodson; she assures that she is fine and informs Robin and her family to keep their guard up about her brother and the other escapees. She then decides to resume preparations for opening her foundation. A few days later, after finishing setting things up inside the old foster home and adding a small garden in a backyard with help from Dunnigan, Vest, Grace, Richards, Grier, Palmer, Kira, Cunningham, Darko, Ripley, Franelli, Crowe, Walker, Spooner and others, the Help Our Children Excel & Develop (HOCED) Foundation is officially open. Katherine sees many children affected by crimes and their families showing up for it. With that, she and her family welcome everyone in as they enter the foundation's center.

#10 - "A Cold Case Christmas"

A day before Christmas Eve, the center of Katherine's new foundation is filled with children who were victims of crime and their families. With every present speaking about their ordeals since the opening, Katherine sees how her foundation is slowly making a difference. Finn, Mary and Danielle are present in the center helping the children out. Katherine gives a speech to the children and their families about what the HOCED Foundation is about and what to do if the subject becomes too painful, noting that the foundation has plenty of resources to help them. She then introduces everyone to the six children who were abducted by Norman Brewer and their families. She and the six children speak with the other children and their families about their ordeal. Then Justin and Brooke Fitzgerald speak about their father abuse of them and murdering their mother, and how they were able to move forward from it. The other children and their families speak about their ordeals. Then Mary runs into Simon Jenkins and his mother Cheryl; she and Simon get reacquainted with each other, before she introduces Finn to Simon. Simon remembers Danielle from their camp trip and Finn reveals he is her boyfriend. Danielle then sees her sister Piper arrive at the foundation. Piper asks Danielle to come home, but she responds that she is busy. Piper accused her of not hanging out with her enough lately, but Mary defends Danielle and explaining that her sister has been looking out for her, Finn and their family during the stalking incident. Piper hits back at Mary, snarking that she will never be part of her family. As Piper storms off, Danielle tells Mary and Finn that Piper has been struggling to deal with the fact that she has continued to see Finn even after all the trouble they've been through together, but figures she'll eventually come around. Afterwards, Danielle goes to Katherine and helps her out with some things. Remembering how Katherine can handle herself very well, Danielle asks her how she became such a fighter and a survivor even though she is a prosecutor. Katherine reveals that following the massacre of most of her family, she was affected greatly and wanted to do something to ensure others wouldn't have to endure such a tragedy and injustice like she did, and thus she became a prosecutor. Following her meeting Drake after he was framed for murder, she learned a lot of her combat abilities from him; plus having come from a law enforcement family, she learned how to take of herself very easily. Upon marrying Drake and have a family of her own, she was able to move forward from the tragedy. Danielle asks her why Drake trained her to fight so well. Katherine says that Drake was an ex-Marine, and was a POW for four months during his last tour of duty, and he wanted to ensure that she wouldn't be helpless if anything happens to her, so Drake taught her hand-to-hand combat and firearm usage among other things. Impressed, Danielle notes that she could've been a soldier or something like that. Katherine says that she thought about joining the military once, but changed her mind after one of her cousins was KIA so her family wouldn't suffer any more heartbreak. Danielle tells Katherine that Finn is lucky to have her as his mother, which Katherine acknowledges.

Meanwhile at Amanda's, Drake is playing darts with Holmes, Peter, Gene, Dunnigan and Cold Case Detective Ophelia Swann. Swann asks about how the hunt for the fugitives is going; Drake notes that it's slow but they're making progress. Swann that they are still searching for the fugitive from their case, Roy Halstrom, a man responsible for the murder of his ex-girlfriend and her fiancée over his jealously of her about to marry another man, which Drake and the FJU heard of since he was one of the others who escaped with Fitzgerald. Swann says that Halstrom was arrested four years after the case went cold, and she and her unit got him for it; she describes him as a malignant narcissist who has no qualms about anyone's happiness or well-being except for him. Suddenly, Holmes gets a call and reveals that Halstrom has been seen in South Denver. The detectives then opt to head to the FJU to meet with their colleagues.

At the FJU HQ, Sykes and Francis reveal to everyone that Halstrom was spotted in a neighborhood in South Denver in a stolen pickup truck by a passerby's dash cam at an intersection about 15 minutes prior. Lt. Rogers believes he's up to something and Ellis mentions that Lincoln, Pearce, Ford, Fox and Nguyen are checking the scene out. Rogers has Wells and Swann go with them while having Dominguez and Terry help the others check out his known locations. Sykes has Drake, Ruiz and Andrea help Dominguez and Terry. Whitlock suggests they do a perimeter check in South Denver for Halstrom since he could slip by them. Dougherty relays it to Ford. In South Denver, Drake, Ruiz, Andrea and the others investigate the area. One man living in the area says to Drake and Terry he saw a man fitting Halstrom's description drive slowly by his house when he was pulling up to his driveway about 8 minutes before and suspects he was searching for someone or something. At the area where Halstrom was spotted, Pearce and Lincoln asks the driver about the truck Halstrom was in and the driver says that he was searching around and he was driving mildly slow as the dash cam shows. they agree that he might have been searching the area, but still can't figure out for what and why.

At Amanda's, Ryan sees Jenny approach him and she reveals that her two children, son Axel and daughter Quinn, are coming to visit on Christmas Eve, with her ex-husband Matt DelVecchio. Ryan says that it is good that her children will spend Christmas with her; Jenny says that while she is happy, she still hardly sees her children since her dismissal from the Secret Service when Matt was able to get custody of them due to all the bad publicity and media attention she was getting over her firing. Ryan gives her some advice about what to do with her children: to just make every moment with them count and try not to start any conflict with their father. Back in the FJU, Francis reminds everyone of his colleagues that his wedding to Spier is tomorrow, which they all acknowledge. At the same time, he goes over Halstrom's files to find any connection to South Denver. After a moment, he made a discovery as to why Halstrom is in South Denver. In the time between the murdered and his arrest Halstrom married and had two sons, the youngest of whom was born four months after he was arrested. Upon hearing of what he had done, Halstrom's wife Ashley Winnock, filed for divorce and got full custody of their sons Kaeden and Alexander; the family now lives in South Denver. The detectives realize Halstrom is there to get his family, or at least his sons, and go on the run. Swann remembers Ashley when she interviewed about her husband. Sykes sends Drake, Lincoln and Holmes to go to Ashley's home. Rodgers has Wells and Swann go with them while Dougherty has Ford and Nguyen join the others while the rest will go undercover at Ashley's home.

While on patrol, Redbird and Audrey search in South Denver for any sign of Halstrom. Audrey notes that Halstrom reminds her a little of her father, but far worse. Redbird changes the subject, asking about Audrey's dating life. She responds that she's had a few casual dates but has never really had much of a connection with anyone, admitting she is asexual. Redbird is confused over Audrey's comments and isn't sure what is asexuality is until Audrey explains the details.

At Ashley's home, the team arrives and Ashley remembers Lincoln and Swann from when they arrested her ex-husband. They and the others warn her that Halstrom is looking for her and their children; Ashley says her children are still in the house. As that is happening, Redbird and Audrey spot the truck parked in the street opposite Ashley's house and the former recognizes the truck Halstrom drove as the latter informs everyone about via dispatch. Upon hearing this, Drake senses something's off and goes to look around. He checks the kitchen and spots Halstrom holding Kaeden and Alexander hostage in and silently warns the others. He and Holmes go around to the back of the house, with Ford, Fox, Wells and Terry joining them, while Lincoln and Swann silently assure Ashley that help is coming. Then Drake and Holmes grab Halstrom, allowing Terry, Fox and Ford to get Kaeden and Alexander away from him. Lincoln and Swann enter and usher Ashley outside. As Drake takes Halstrom's gun, Holmes tosses him to the living room floor as Lincoln and Swann pointed their weapons at the fugitive. Halstrom furiously remembers them as they arrest him and curses Swann as she was the one who found the crucial evidence of his involvements of the murders and swears that he will murder her family. Swann punches him in the face for the threat of her family and the others haul Halstrom off. Redbird and Audrey arrive to see Halstrom being taken into custody.

Back at the FJU, Saxe, along with Dougherty and Ford interrogate Halstrom about the whereabouts of the other escapees, but aren't getting anything out of him. Drake becomes frustrated over not getting anything regarding Fitzgerald and the others, but Sykes calms him down, saying that they will find a ways to catch the remaining fugitives soon. Francis speaks with Wells, who is Francis's best for his upcoming wedding. He, Rogers, Swann, Terry and Dominguez thank the FJU and the Marshals for their help. The next morning, the wedding between Francis and Spier occurs without a hitch. At the reception, Katherine, Cohen and Quelling reveal to Peake, Katherine and Saxe that Halstrom used to be a travel agent before his arrest. Quelling additionally reveals that Halstrom was paid $100,000 from an off-shore account for reasons they don't know yet. Katherine believes that Fitzgerald paid him for something that might involve travel in exchange for finding his ex-wife and their children. Peake suspects that they might try to flee to a country with no extradition treaty with the US, but Katherine doesn't think so since Fitzgerald and the others are intent on getting revenge for their arrests, which Cohen and Quelling agree. Peake tells them to find out what Halstrom provided for the escapees.

Later, at the Sullivan home, Danielle hangs out with the Sullivan family while Mary invites Simon inside and introduces him to Cody, Raina and Nadia. Katherine, while tending to the twins, tells Drake and Ryan the foundation is doing well so far and hopes she can maintain it. Finn says that they should have shrinks and pastors to console some children and their family members in private sessions, which Katherine says she'll consider. Then Jenny arrives with her children, 8-year-old Axel and 3-year-old Quinn and introduces them to the rest of her family. She reveals that she's got them until the day after Christmas, after which Matt will take them back home. As Drake reads through the other escapees files, Danielle checks on him. She asks if they know anything about the remaining fugitives whereabouts yet, but Drake replies that there's nothing new yet. Danielle nods and asks why he chose to be Marine. Drake reveals that after witnessing the events of 9/11, he decided he wanted to serve his country when he got older. As an adult, he he joined the Marines and did four tours, even becoming a POW for four months during his last tour along with several other Marines until they escaped. Drake adds that he knows Danielle spoke to Katherine about him. She asks him why he trained his wife to handle herself so well. Drake states that he wanted her be to handle situations in case someone threatened her or something happened, and neither he or anyone else was around to help, so she could fend for herself. He also states that Katherine is his heart and soul and he wants her to be able to fight for herself in any situation, like with Richard Coleman, John Fitzgerald, the Russian mob, the corruption in Aspen, Norman Brewer and such. Danielle admits that Katherine reminds her of her own mother, who is a strong woman in her own right, and who has been through her own craziness. Elsewhere, Mary introduces D.J. and Arby to Simon as Katherine sets up their Christmas gifts. Simon admits he has thought about how she protected him from his father in Rocky Mountain National Park until her parents arrived, and that it has allowed him to see the good side of people. Mary says that she is a Sullivan, like her entire family. Then Cheryl arrives to take him home. As they head out, Simon looks at Mary and they share a knowing and affectionate glance before he leaves.

At the end, Whitlock is visited by his children Devon and Olivia for Christmas, as they gave him gifts, which he thanks them for. Devon reveals that Monique didn't want to come inside, which silently upsets him, but he enjoys celebrating early Christmas with both of them. Francis and Spier return home as a married couple, and Holmes returns home to Kim and their children. Franklin shows his father the book of the history of U.S. Military as a early Christmas present they gave him. Sykes spends Christmas with his children and grandchildren. Audrey drops off Redbird home, where he is met by his visiting siblings: older sister Eliza, younger brother Jacob, and younger sister Molly. At the Sullivan home, Danielle is picked up by Andrea and Dunnigan. Before leaving, she wishes Merry Christmas to Finn while kissing him goodbye. With that, Finn joins the rest of his family as they celebrate Christmas.

#11 - "Together In Arms"

At the Sullivan house, Cohen and Lincoln visit the family at night as they are watching a playoff football game between the Denver Broncos and the Atlanta Falcons. Katherine notes that while not a fan of any sport, she has learned to enjoy watching games from seeing Finn play hockey and seeing them on TV. Drake points out that she has learned to enjoy it from him, which she confirms. Ryan asks if the recaptured fugitives have revealed anything, and Katherine and Cohen state they have consistently refused to rat out Fitzgerald or any other fugitive, much to Drake and Lincoln's chagrin. Just everyone witnesses a touchdown by the Broncos, the door rang and Katherine finds its Drake's fellow Marines Annie Nicholson, Mike Foster and Luis Rojas. As they meet up with Drake, Nicholson reveals that one of her former fellow marines under her command, Eric Sirota, disappeared after returning stateside two weeks before. Sirota has a bad case of PTSD and Nicholson is afraid that he may end up getting himself killed or is preparing to end his life. She reveals that he was last seen early in the morning crossing Colorado-Wyoming border. Foster says that they might need his help to track him down since he knows Colorado well enough. Knowing his own experiences with PTSD, Drake agrees to help however he can to find Sirota.

At the FJU, Dougherty and Nguyen arrive and tell Sykes and Pearce that they may have found a lead on a the fugitive from Major Crimes: Laramie Stokes, imprisoned for murder and a string of bank robberies. Sykes decides to loop in Major Crimes and contacts Captain Durand. Later, Durand arrives with Talfero, Chen, Oakes and Garcia; they reveal how they captured Stokes after he killed a bank manager and her husband during one of his last robberies. Garcia believes that Stokes is looking for the stash of money collected from his previous jobs. Durand says that Stokes is highly ruthless and will kill anyone to remove any loose ends. Fleiss does her psychological analysis on Stokes: a desperate and opportunistic man whom, now that he's free will do anything to avoid going back to prison and wants his ill-gotten gains. Sykes assigns Holmes and Andrea to help Major Crimes and the U.S. Marshals track Stokes down.

Elsewhere, Drake goes over the files on Sirota. Katherine figures that he is helping his fellow Marines because Sirota reminds him of his own experiences with PTSD. Finn believes that Sirota could go somewhere peaceful and isolated to end his own life, citing that the father of one of his friends tried to do that once due to severe depression, but he was fortunately found by State Police, who talked him out of it. Drake notes that anything's possible at this point. He finds that Sirota's Marine Unit was killed in an ambush overseas and he was the only survivor. From that, Drake believes that Sirota's PTSD is mostly attributed to survivor's guilt. He has left behind his family, along with all ways of being able to getting in touch with and has been traveling to his remaining Marine friends, leaving them gifts and mementos. From this, Drake realizes Sirota likely is looking to commit suicide. Katherine asks if he should consult with Fleiss about Sirota and Drake says that he might as he calls her. As Fleiss came over, Drake gives Sirota's files to her. After going over the files, Fleiss gives Drake her notes on Sirota: that he suffers from severe survivor's guilt over the ambush, and deep-seated loneliness despite having other friends in the Corps, because the friends he lost were the ones whom he served with in the trenches day in and day out.

After going over Sirota's previous life, Drake finds out that he enjoyed skiing in Telluride. Believing that's where he's heading, he warns Nicholson and the others. At Telluride, Drake and the others head to the town's companion town, Mountain Village. A hotel receptionist informs Drake and Rojas that Sirota checked in yesterday and said he was going to skiing today before returning later, but noticed from his expression that he was likely suffering from severe depression. After Drake finds out which hotel room Sirota is staying in, Rojas informs Nicholson and Foster. As Nicholson and Foster arrive at the room and wait, they see Sirota arriving and wait until he closed the door. Sirota is shocked to see his former CO Nicholson and the others, as Foster blocks him from leaving. He asks what they're doing here and Nicholson tells him that they are here to help him, citing that they know about his intentions. Sirota says that he doesn't have anyone since all of his platoon mates were lost in the ambush in Iraq. Foster and Rojas try to level with him, noting that they've all lost friends in the Marines too, but Sirota notes that they've never lost everyone at once. Nicholson even brings up his family, but Sirota says they don't need someone as broken as him. He then draws his gun and tells them to leave and let him finished his life. Drake and the others, however, refuse, citing they won't leave a Marine who needs them the most. Drake adds that he was a Marine who had a bad case of PTSD from all the things that he saw; he even notes one particular incident when he, Nicholson, Foster and Rojas endured as members a terrorist organization they were pursuing bombed an encampment, killing several of their fellow Marines and many innocent people, including women and children. He also reveals how he first met Katherine and how she helped motivate him to get treatment for his PTSD and he became a Denver police officer afterwards. Drake tells Sirota that he can still get help for his PTSD, and be there with his family, and even offers to refer to the one who helped him. After listening to what Drake and the others say, Sirota breaks down and forfeits his plans to commit suicide, agreeing to go with Nicholson and return home.

Meanwhile back in Denver, Holmes and Andrea assist Major Crimes and the U.S. Marshals in their pursuit of Stokes. They do the math of the stolen money from the previous robberies, which amounts to about $10 million and check out Stokes' previous places of interests to see where he might go. Holmes went over Stokes' profile and believes a place where he might be heading: the home of Desirée Parkis, a former girlfriend who was long though to be an accomplice to Stokes, but the police could never prove her involvement in the robberies. Andrea theorizes he might be headed for her, and she might also know where the money is. The team tracks Parkis down to an apartment. As Ruiz, Pearce, Francis and Whitlock arrive to help, Holmes spots the disguised Stokes enter the apartment. Dougherty tells everyone to hold until he and Parkis leave. Holmes spots a possible exit where they might leave and heads to it. After a few minutes, he spots Stokes and Parkis leaving the apartment heading the exit that he anticipated, carrying three gym bags. He notifies everyone that they're coming out, and the police and Marshals prepare to make the arrests. As Stokes and Parkis exit the apartment, the authorities surround them, and Holmes tackles Stokes before he can make his getaway while Chen and Ellis detain Parkis. They find a huge sum of money in the bags, but realizes that some is missing. Dougherty asks how much is missing and that they have counted $6.8 million, meaning they are are missing $3.2 million. When questioned, Stokes admits that he gave it away. Holmes demands to know whom he gave it to, and Stokes defiantly reveals he gave it to Fitzgerald. Dougherty demands Fitzgerald's whereabouts, but Stokes refused to tell them, saying that Fitzgerald and everyone else with them will soon get revenge on everyone who put them in prison. Angered, Dougherty orders Stokes to be taken away.

During the case, Sykes notices Whitlock seems off and asks if he was okay. Whitlock reveals that his wife has moved out of their house and in with her brother, and has taken their two children with her. He admits that the two of them will both soon file for divorce, even though part of him wants to keep fighting. Sykes reveals that he went through a hard divorce after his ex-wife Joanne left him due to his dedication to his work, even though he did everything he could to support her and their family. Whitlock asks what he should do and Sykes says that he has to let it play out. If the divorce goes forward, he has to accept it no matter what, and he can't let it get rough on his children. Elsewhere, Lincoln and Cohen come home and are surprised to see Sal, Janice, Heather, Luca and Julie in their apartment. Lincoln wonders what his family is doing here, and Sal and Heather says that they want to learn more about Cohen, other than what Julie told them about her. Cohen says that she knows all about them and their mob activities, reveals that she is friends with Katherine. Sal reveals that he had Cohen checked out, and that they know that she is an ex-FBI agent who was dismissed for torturing a terrorist in custody. Lincoln notes that she only did this because the Bureau was running out of time to find a bomb the terrorists had planted 16th Street Mall. Luca admits if John was still with their mob family and met Cohen, she would've fit right in. Cohen says that she never went that far before doing what she did and she wasn't proud of it. Sal notes that Cohen is still a woman who knows how to handle herself, a trait he's always respected.

During a routine patrol, Audrey and Redbird investigate a burglary in progress at a residence. They enter the house, and catch several teenagers taking whatever valuables they can. The teens run for it, and Audrey and Redbird pursue them both. Redbird catches and detains one without problem, whereas Audrey has to fight off the other and get creative to take him down. After making a debrief about it, Redbird asks Audrey if she is okay and she confirms it. At their lockers, Redbird reveals Audrey about his past, including his younger sister Tanya's rape; notes that it shook up his entire family and his relationships with them, with him feeling like they all blamed him for what happened, and even more than he blamed himself. He notes that most his family, such as his mother, Tanya and his other siblings eventually put their negative feelings behind them, but his father has never truly forgiven him, even to this day. Audrey states that no matter how rough he's had in his past, he has to face his demons, or they'll continue to hold him back and have power over his life for good.

At the end, Dougherty praises Holmes for tracking Stokes and how he would exit the building; Holmes replies that he was just doing his job. Dougherty says that he could use someone like him as a U.S. Marshal and they are willing to deputize him if he wants in. After a moment, Holmes says that he'll think about it before heading back to the FJU's bullpen. Back at Lincoln's home, Lincoln and Cohen continue to interact with his family, who are glad to get to know the latter. Later, at Amanda's, Holmes tells Kim and Ryan about the job he has been offered with the U.S. Marshals. Kim asks her husband if he wants it, and Holmes admits that he wants to think about it; Ryan tells him that it's his choice, but he'll back him no matter what. At the same time, Drake comes in and Katherine says that she and the others heard that they found Sirota. Drake says that Nicholson will take Sirota to see the same psychologist who helped him with his PTSD. Katherine expresses her relief on this, then updates Drake that they caught Stokes, but like the other captured fugitives, he wouldn't rat out Fitzgerald and the others still out there. Drake nodded. Later, while they are alone in the game room, he painfully reveals to his wife what he told Sirota when he and the other members witnessed the bombing of the encampment by terrorist Mohammed Al-Naveed and his organization, which killed four of their fellow Marines and many innocent people. When he and the others were searching for survivors, he remembers finding one of the Marines who had literally been blown in half, and comforted him as he died, as well as seeing the bodies of the innocent women and children. That was when he and his Marine unit decided to go after Al-Naveed and bring him down for good. Katherine, shocked and saddened by her husband's admission to what he revealed, embraces him for a long time. Then she consoles him in the most thoughtful way possible, saying that she knows what witnessing traumatic events is like since she endured that when her family was massacred and how they've had to deal with it by leaning to people they still have, like they've done with each other when they went through some tough times. Drake agrees and, after a moment, Katherine suggests that they should head home, which he also agrees with.

#12 - "Vigilance"

Flash-forward: A unseen person is seen stumbling down the street, bleeding heavily and their clothes ripped. They grab their phone when they hear it ring, but then suddenly collapse. Then it's revealed the person is a detective after their police badge falls to out of their hand.

A day earlier, Ryan speaks to Drake and Katherine about Holmes considering joining the U.S. Marshals, which they've already heard about it. Ryan is surprised given that Holmes is only a few more years away from qualifying for his 20-year pension with the Denver PD. Drake notes that Holmes might just be looking for a change of pace for his career. Katherine notes that Nadia is taking a course in law ethics, which is not a secret to her. Finn agrees on this, noting that she comes from a family who is all about the law, even though they only met her and Raina just two years before. Mary says that she spoke with Nadia briefly and says that she's still debating on what kind of lawyer she wants to be. Drake gets a call and informs the family that he's got a case before leaving. At the basement of an apartment building, Drake finds a woman badly mauled to death. Cooke says that she was killed by dogs, and identifies the woman as Delinda Farrell. Ruiz tells Drake that there's also evidence that a second person was present when the attack happened.

At the FJU, Sykes and Pearce, who have experience with dog attack cases, speak to the others about it. Holmes asks how it is possible and Pearce states that someone who uses a dog as a weapon to kill someone is often wants the victim to suffer and has deliberately trained the dog to be vicious. Sykes ads that the attack likely isn't random and they need to find the victim's connection. C.J. arrives and finds out the dogs are most likely pit bulls, judging by the bite marks seen on Farrell. Digging into Farrell's life, they find out that she was under investigation for being involved in an illegal recreational dog fighting ring, and that she was allegedly close to the unknown head of the ring. Fleiss consults with them about the issue of recreational dog fighting, that it's done for both profit and sadism, and unfortunately, the dogs usually pay the price in the end.

At the HOCED foundation, Katherine sees Mary hanging out with Simon in the kitchen, baking some oatmeal cookies for the children. Katherine figures that, but also notes that she's been hanging out with Simon a lot since he first showed up at the foundation. Mary reminds her mother that she helped save him from his abusive father and his friends in Rocky Mountain National Park, and that they are starting to really get to know each other. Katherine gets this, but she can tell there is something more going on; Mary tells her mother not to worry. Danielle notes that she has seen the way Mary looks at Simon, since she did the same with Finn in the past. Mary sheepishly tries to deny it, but Danielle knows better. Then Burton and Maggie show up, surprising their granddaughter, as well as Katherine and Mary. Danielle and Mary introduce Simon to the former's grandparents and Burton and Maggie give a $300 donation to Katherine for the foundation. Then they ask Danielle if she noticed anything off with Piper's recent behavior; she notes that Piper has been rather moody, and has been clashing with their parents a lot. Burton reveals that Piper had has been cutting school and might be hanging with some bad kids. Danielle asks if she spoke to Andrea about it and Maggie confirms they have and is working with both Trevor and Chris to find a way to deal with Piper's rebellion. Mary, Danielle and Simon begin serving oatmeal cookies for the children in the foundation. Later that night, Drake speaks to Katherine about the recent case and the possible recreational dog fighting ring. Katherine admits that she despises what certain people do to dogs just for sport and profit. Ryan notes that Judge Ollister once dealt with a case involving dog fighting. The next day, Ollister speaks to Drake and Katherine about his knowledge in the dog fighting case he previously dealt with; he notes that the dogs involved are often bred into fighters from when they're as young as puppies, and they are often either bred from other dogs in captivity or even stolen from pet stores. The Sullivans thank Ollister for sharing his knowledge of the issue. Drake then gets a call from Ruiz, saying that they found whom Farrell was involved with at the dog fighting ring, and they've concluded that the Aryan Brotherhood is organizing them.

Meanwhile, the FJU track down several local Aryan members and bring them in for questioning. Then Ruiz speaks to a CI who reveals where the dog fighting event is occurring: a closed down thrift store that was converted into an underground dog fight arena in the basement. The FJU then stakes the place out, waiting for any sign of activity. As they wait, Holmes notices that Andrea seemed a little distracted and asks if she was okay. Andrea says that Piper has been acting very moody and has been cutting class and seems to be hanging out with the wrong crowd, and she and her family have been trying to find a way to deal with her daughter's recent rebellion. Holmes gives her some ideas to find the source of Piper's behavior, which Andrea acknowledges. Then she asks about his thoughts about transferring to the U.S. Marshals. Holmes admits he has been considering a change of pace in his career. Andrea reminds him that he is a few years away from qualifying for his 20-year pension in Denver PD. Holmes notes this, but says that this could open up more doors for him in the future, and he enjoys the work of tracking down fugitives.

Meanwhile, Ruiz and Lincoln drives to the closed down thrift store. As they exit their car and approach the store, they hear barking coming from inside. Drawing their weapons they enter and find two Aryan Brotherhood members there. Upon them identifying themselves as police, the two suspects take off. Lincoln chases one suspect who runs out of the store into traffic and is hit by a car, and Ruiz chase other suspect into the alley behind the store, where some of the dogs are kept in kennels. Ruiz almost manage to corner one of the suspects, but he lets two of the dogs out to block Ruiz before jumping the fence and running off. The two dogs, both pit bulls then lunge at and violently attack Ruiz; one clamps down on his left arm while the other dog bite down on his right leg. Screaming in pain and panic, Ruiz manages to draw his gun, and with much reluctance, shoots and kills both dogs. He then gets up and stumbles out of the alley, still bleeding from the bites. Elsewhere, Andrea arrives at the FJU HQ with Piper and takes her daughter to Katherine's office. She leaves the two alone in the office where Katherine tries to talks to Piper about her recent behavior, but Piper refused to respond. Katherine tells Piper that she is a good girl who has never acted like this before. She notes that she had a brief period of teen rebellion after her family was massacred and she and her brother had to go live with relatives, and is available to talk whenever Piper wants or needs. However, Piper tells Katherine that she is not stupid and she can't outsmart a Donnell girl, admitting she already knows of Katherine and Andrea's plan for intervention, before leaving the office, leaving Katherine annoyed that her plan didn't work. When Andrea asks Katherine what happened, she notes that Piper is smart and clever; Andrea vows to not give up though.

Later, Drake receives a call from Lincoln, who reveals that he has arrested one suspect at the abandoned store. He also reveals Ruiz chased other suspect, but hasn't been able to find or contact him. Drake then tries to call Ruiz, but he fails to answer. Suspecting something is wrong, he calls Francis back at the FJU to get a location on Ruiz's phone. At the street, Ruiz lying unconscious, still bleeding out. His phone continues to ring but then shuts off as its battery runs out. Drake arrives at the FJU HQ to get an update about Ruiz's whereabouts, but Francis reveals he wasn't able to locate Ruiz, believing the phone either turned off, was destroyed, or ran out of battery power. He was, however, able to track the last known location before it turned off. As Drake prepares to head out to said location, Lincoln arrives at HQ with the suspect he arrested. Drake and Francis asked Lincoln about last time that he saw Ruiz; he admits that they split up to chase separate suspects and he hasn't seen or heard from him since. Whitlock has Holmes and Francis go with Drake to find Ruiz while he and Lincoln will interrogate the suspect. In interrogation, the man refuses to talk and smugly notes that chances are their missing officer has had a run-in with their "prize-fighters".

At the thrift store, Francis leads Drake and Holmes to where Ruiz's phone was pinged. Then, Holmes sees Ruiz down and bleeding and yells out to the others as he rushes over to him. As Francis calls for paramedics, Drake and Holmes tend to Ruiz, who, while barely conscious, points out the dead pit bulls he had to kill, saying that the suspect who escaped set them loose on him. Drake tries to asks Ruiz which direction the other suspect went, but Ruiz suddenly passes out again from the blood loss. Then Ambulance 15 arrives and Peter and Clayton tend to Ruiz. They take him to Denver Memorial, where everyone in the FJU waits for updates about him. Sykes says that the Forensics Unit is combing the thrift store and the alley and they are also checking out the dead pit bulls that attacked Ruiz. Erica then arrives, worried about her husband, and Drake explains what happened to him. Grier and Gene speak to Erica and the FJU detectives present about Ruiz's condition; they note that he lost a lot of blood, but they were able to get a transfusion to him in time, and he is currently stable and unconscious. Sykes asks if they've run any tests for rabies and Grier replies that they have and are waiting for the results. Whitlock arrives and say that they got CCTV footage of the man fleeing within the area of the thrift store. Sykes tells Francis to return to the FJU and run the man through facial recognition; Francis obeys without hesitation.

Back at the FJU, Francis runs facial recognition and finds out the man is Bart Ryan, an Aryan Brotherhood member. Sykes puts out an APB on Bart, while Pearce reveals the lab tests on the pit bulls are in and they have no trace of rabies within them; the hospital tests confirm that Ruiz doesn't have rabies either. Fleiss believes that those pit bulls were likely trained as fighting dogs for sport. Lincoln says that he still hasn't gotten anything on the suspect they arrested. Saxe reveals that he prosecuted Bart on a different case, a suspected arson of a synagogue, but he got off due to lack of physical evidence. He adds that he knows certain locations where Bart might be hiding. Following leads, Drake, along with Holmes, Andrea, Lincoln and Whitlock arrive at a run-down apartment complex with assistance from Redbird, Audrey, Redden and Soto. While Whitlock, Redbird and the other officers seal off the building, Drake and the other detectives head inside the complex. As they scan around the area, Bart comes out of his apartment on the second floor, and upon seeing them, makes a run for it again. He is pursued by the detectives, and runs for a nearby exit, only to be tackled to the ground by Redbird. Bart is then handcuffed as Drake catches up to and confronts him for siccing those pit bulls on his partner. Bart defiantly states he and the others should have stayed away from their dog fighting business, like Farrell, who wanted out of it and planned to blow the whistle on them. Drake angrily says that he better plead out for his own sake, or he will face his wife who is the top prosecutor, at trial;; Holmes and Lincoln angrily convey the same thing to Bart as they take him away.

In interrogation, Katherine, Whitlock and Cohen come down on Bart for siccing the pit bulls on Ruiz. Then Katherine suggests that he take a plea bargain out in exchange for naming the others involved in the dog fighting ring and to put it all in writing, or she will go for the max sentence for both Farrell's murder and the attack on Ruiz. With that, Bart agrees to the deal and names the others involved, including the leader, Harvey Gault, who was the one who ordered Farrell's death after learning she was going to go to the police. Later, after Drake and Katherine arrive in Denver Memorial and meet up with Erica, Angel, Martika and Lupe, they see Palmer and Cunningham coming down after having treated Ruiz in emergency surgery. Palmer and Cunningham tell Erica, the Ruiz children, Drake and Katherine, that they were able to save Ruiz, but he will need plastic surgery to reconstruct his arm and leg. Drake asks who will be doing the reconstruction, and Cunningham replies that Dr. Hendrix will lead the surgeries. At the FJU, Peake visits Sykes and reveals that the police and the FBI have arrested Gault and the other Aryan members for their involvement in the dog fighting ring and they will face prosecution. Sykes asks about the dogs they found, and Peake reveals that some of them will be found good homes, but the really vicious ones will likely be euthanized as they are likely too far gone to be saved. Peake gives Sykes hope for successful recovery for Ruiz before heading out.

At the end, Holmes visits Frank, Terrell, Peter and Theo and asks for advice on a potential offer to join the U.S. Marshals. They all advise him to do whatever he feels is right for him, Kim, and their children. Back in the hospital, Quelling informs Drake and Katherine about the arrests while in the waiting room while Erica and the children stood by. Crowe comes to them, expressing well wishes to Ruiz. Then she reveals to the Sullivans that Stetler has been stalking her and her children, and asks if they can expand on the restraining order. Quelling volunteers to help out with that, which Katherine concurs. As Quelling goes with Crowe to talk, Erica reveals that Ruiz is awake. Drake and Katherine and Ruiz's family enter his room with Spooner along with them. Drake quickly shows him Bart's picture and Ruiz confirms that he's the man who sicced the pit bulls on him. Drake reveals that they've arrested him and everyone else involved. Ruiz is glad to hear that and he asks about his injuries. Spooner reveals the extent Ruiz's injuries; the bites have left major external damage to his arm and leg and he will require some major reconstruction surgery, but he will be fine. Then he tells Drake and Katherine that they have to leave so he can rest and recover. The Sullivans express well-wishes to him, Erica and his his children as they head out to return home.

#13 - "Trouble in Paradise - Part 3"

As the FJU and the U.S. Marshals work to protect Crowe and any other witnesses from cases involving the fugitives, they scramble to track down the fugitive responsible for the current rampage. Meanwhile, Ruiz works to recover from the previous dog attack, Cohen and Quelling find some evidence against Peake's opponent, and Holmes makes a career-changing decision.

#14 - "Anti-Alphabet Mafioso"

Around a week after Wilcox's rampage, the FJU has adjusted to Holmes' departure. Sykes asks if anyone has any leads on the remaining fugitives, but they admit that they've got nothing so far. Then they see Redbird arriving as Sykes sees him in his office for a talk. Redbird reveals that he has been seeing a therapist with his problems, and tells Sykes that he was right to demote him to patrol, admitting that he was out of control and that it helped him face his demons. Sykes says that he has read his therapist's psychological reports and finds that he is improving, but the sessions will remain mandatory until further notice due his previous incidents with Tully Grissom and Alvin McNamara leading to the department superiors questioning his mental health. He tells Redbird that what he needs to know now is that all the crap is in the past, and that Redbird is committed to doing things by the book. Red swears that he is, and promises that he won't let Sykes or any of the others down. With that, Sykes welcomes Redbird back to the FJU, telling him he will be partnered with Andrea. Redbird says he doesn't have a problem with that since he worked with her daughter Audrey on patrol, which Sykes acknowledges. Sykes then takes a quick moment to remind him that he must continue with therapy twice a week as a condition to stay with the unit. He then announces to everyone that Redbird is now back in the unit and Andrea will partner up with him. As most of the FJU welcomes him back, Redbird asks Drake about Ruiz and he says he's been released from the hospital, but it will take at least a couple more weeks for him to get back to work. Andrea states to Redbird that she heard about him working patrol with Audrey and she wants to assure that they won't have a problem with each other. Redbird says that he owes Audrey for helping him with his demons, so working with her mother is not an issue. He then asks how she's been since Holmes left. Andrea admits that she misses working alongside Holmes, but knows that she has to move on. Redbird says that he won't let her down.

Later that evening, Pearce speaks to Sonya on the phone; the latter is at the LGBTQ+ nightclub, the Rainbow Palace, with some friends. Pearce tells her to have fun and stay safe before hanging up. As she re-enters the bullpen, she notices Whitlock looks down. When Pearce asks what was going on, he reveals that his wife Monique is filing for divorce and will likely file for custody of their children. Pearce asks why his wife left him. He admits that he was strongly devoted to the job when he was on the bomb squad – a little too dedicated, which he didn't realize the damage it was doing to his marriage until it was too late. Drake sees the news that the election campaign for D.A. between Peake and Harding has started. Saxe and Quelling arrive and reveal that they're not getting anywhere with Hackney on where the remaining fugitives are. Sykes says that something has to turn up soon because the fugitives have essentially "greenlit" them and their loved ones. At the D.A. Office, Katherine, Cohen and Peake watch the news of the D.A. race, with voting having commenced. Katherine says that at least Peake will be racing against Harding instead of Joseph since his involvement with Danford Chemcorp brought his campaign down. Peake says that the FBI and the EPA have investigating the company and arrested the higher-ups for their corrupt actions. Cohen asks about Joseph and Peake replies that he has taken a plea bargain which with include minimum jail time and surrendering his law license. Katherine then calls Drake on the phone to check in on him; Drake notes that he sees the election is starting, which she confirms. He also informs her that Redbird is back in the FJU and is now Andrea's partner. Katherine expresses hope that Redbird can keep his temper in check. Then Whitlock announces that there's been a massacre at the Rainbow Palace, which scares Pearce as Sonya is there now. As the FJU quickly rushes out, Katherine informs Peake what had happened, before she and Cohen head to the club too.

When the FJU arrive, Pearce quickly jumps out of her car and frantically searches for Sonya. As Drake, Sykes and the others look around, the scene was chaotic and brutal with people shot dead and a part of the building on fire. As Dunnigan, Rossi and Vest work to put it out, the FJU detectives met up with Wie, and the Bias-Motivated Crime Unit, including fellow former member, Officer Jill Cortez. Pearce desperately searches for Sonya and eventually finds her being wheeled on the gurney by Peter and Clayton. She finds in horror that Sonya was shot in the chest. As she rides with them on the ambulance, Sykes asks Wie if they know anything. Wie, Cortez, her second-in-command Sergeant Travis Vaccaro (Brent Antonello), Barkawi's daughter Corporal Jasmine Marwani, who serves as BMCU's third-in-command, Detectives Cassius Green (Nick Creegan) & Ulrich Wynorski (Mark Gessner) and Officer Yolanda Page (Reign Edwards), all reveal that two men forced their way into the building and shot the place up with automatic weapons, shotguns, and semi-auto pistols, and set the back exit on fire to block anyone from following them. They found four people that didn't get hit. Wie says that they found 21 people severely wounded and the other 18 are dead. Jasmine comes in and reveals one of the people managed to record footage of the shooters. When they watch it, it's revealed the shooters are Gary Frye and Lyle Hemmerling who did the attack, shocking the FJU, BMCU and other officers.

At Denver Memorial, the people wounded are being treated. Sonya is treated by Kingston, along with Darko, Kim and others in the trauma room. Pearce comes to her wife noting that she has contacted their older sons are bringing their other kids to the hospital as they speak. Back at the crime scene, Katherine and Cohen arrive and are shocked by the sight of what has happened. Drake informs his wife and Cohen that Frye and Hemmerling are the shooters, which shocks them. Katherine realizes that the fugitives knew that Sonya would be hanging out at the Rainbow Palace. Wie informs them that she and her unit want in on the manhunt for the fugitives after what has happened. As the U.S. Marshals arrive, including the newly minted Holmes, Sykes and Whitlock fill them in what had happened. Holmes asks about Sonya and Redbird replies that she's in Denver Memorial with a gunshot in her chest. Dougherty tells everyone that they need to find Frye and Hemmerling fast. At Denver Memorial, Tamir and Keyonte have brought the other children to the hospital while they wait and hope for Sonya's survival. Kingston comes in and reveals that Sonya is in surgery. Pearce asks who's performing the surgery and Kingston replies that Palmer is working on her. Charles arrives and lends his support to Pearce and her family. Spier also arrives to give her mentor support, while Francis fills her in. Pearce asks if they know anything; Spier, after a moment, reveals that Frye and Hemmerling were the ones who committed the shooting. Aghast, Pearce demands that they get them and hopes Sonya pulls through. She even notes that part of her wants to go out and start shaking people up to get answers; Spier advises her to think of her children before she starts acting rashly. Pearce acknowledges she knows better, she's just very upset at the situation.

At the FJU HQ, the BMCU and the Marshals gather together. Sykes reveals to everyone that Sonya is currently in surgery. Jasmine explains that the two men escaped in a Ford pickup truck, which was found ditched and torched nine blocks away from Rainbow Palace. She adds that an eyewitness reveals that Frye and Hemmerling then took a midnight blue car, but didn't get the plate of it. Fox says that everyone on alert, and Ellis reveals that the media is all over the story, demanding answers. Wie says that she will make the announcement, but will not reveal Frye and Hemmerling's identities so they don't tip off Fitzgerald and his collaborator. Drake says that the fugitives might come after her too since she was part in many of the cases involving the them during her time at the FJU, which Wie acknowledges, also revealing she's got her boyfriend Javier Mendez, a plow driver who helped her during the blizzard several years before, to help track them down since he has connections around Denver. She reveals that Javier's wife died of Parkinson's two years prior and she has been dating him for eight months; their kids have all met and they seem to get along well with each other. Brian demands if they know anything about Frye and Hemmerling, as the former was among those who attacked him four years back. Drake says that they are doing all they can to find them. Then Redbird and Green reveal that Frye and Hemmerling were spotted by a traffic camera on Speer Boulevard in a midnight blue Acura that was stolen a day before. As Sgt. Asher alerts all patrol units in the area, Sykes calls for the helicopter to find the vehicle. The three teams load up and move out to pursue the fugitives.

While patrolling the area of Speer Boulevard, Thibideaux and Soto spot the car and alert all units. Then the DPD Air Unit spots it. As everyone else joins the pursuit, Sykes tells everyone to pursue but not intercept until the FJU, the BMCU and the Marshals arrive, as the fugitives are considered armed and extremely dangerous. Back in the hospital, Pearce is anxious for word for Sonya since she is still in surgery. Spier and Charles give her support. Then they watched the news of the potential pursuit of two suspects in Acura. As the three teams arrive in separate vehicles, they pursue the Acura. Hemmerling tries to loose them, but the Marshals cut them off and cause them to crash into a light pole. As everyone surrounds the vehicle, Frye and Hemmerling jump out and open fire pistols at them as they run into a office building. With the authorities pursuing them, Frye and Hemmerling run for the exit on the other side. As Pearce watches this from a window, she realizes that they are near Denver Memorial and decides to go after them; she has Spier come with her to ensure she stays in check while Charles stays with the children. As the foot pursuit continues towards the bus station, Frye and Hemmerling fire at the pursuing officials. The cops and Marshals work to seal off the building, while Pearce and Spier hear where they are and head for them. As the two arrive at the bus station, they enter with Spier keeping an eye on Pearce as they instruct nearby panicked civilians to clear away from the area. Frye and Hemmerling then split up to escape in different directions. As Frye escapes to another building nearby, Hemmerling tries to get to a building across the street until Pearce and Spier stop him, aiming their guns at him. They order him to drop his weapon and he reluctantly complies. Pearce then demands to know who shot Sonya, and Hemmerling remorselessly reveals it was Frye who did it. He then makes a bunch of anti-LGBTQIA+ slurs and expresses hope that her wife dies a painful death. She slugs Hemmerling for being involved in Sonya's shooting as the others arrive. But then, Hemmerling draws out a second gun to shoot Pearce with. Spier tackles her down to avoid getting shot, while Drake, Redbird, Wie, Jasmine and Ellis shot Hemmerling dead.

Later, as Frye arrives in another house, Javier spots him from the distance and watches him meet up with "Flower Bush". He took a picture on his cell phone and calls Wie, giving her the current location of Frye and that he is meeting with a woman as she sends the picture to her phone. Wie acknowledges this and instructs Javier to get out the area. He does so, and she quickly informs the others about it. As the team arrive at the house, they breach, but find no one there. Wie checks the picture Javier send and Drake and Andrea recognizes her as Rose Donnelly aka "Flower Bush" from one of FJU's previous cases where her twin sister was stalked raped and murdered by her boyfriend after trying to leave, but they couldn't find enough evidence against him to make the case. Angered by their inability to built the case against him, she doxxed the boyfriend, branding him as an abuser, rapist, and murderer, but that lead to him and his friends attacking her and her family, as well as others present in her house in retaliation, killing her parents and injuring everyone else. As a result, they arrested Rose along with the boyfriend and his friends, and she got sentenced to prison for five to seven years. When she was paroled, she disappeared afterwards. Even more, the units find that the boyfriend and his friends who helped him in the attack on Rose's house and the murder of her parents were all systematically killed in prison in the weeks following the mass prison escape, which they don't believe is a coincidence. When they question the neighbors in the area, one says that one night, she saw Rose meeting with a man whose face she couldn't see and heard them mentioned that someone name Halstrom helped a guy with Spencer with travel arrangements somewhere to find his father's secret stash. This makes the team realize that Roy Halstrom helped Spencer Tomlin, Jr. travel somewhere to find his father's financial stash.

During the case, Danielle invites Finn to have dinner with her family, who already know him given how closely Drake and Andrea work together. While most of the family welcomes him, Piper remains distant. Elsewhere, Mary and Simon help oversee things at the HOCED Foundation, with Robin talking with some of the children. Simon says that he's starting to enjoying hanging out with her. Mary notes that a few people, including Katherine and Danielle, have already starting to see the connection between them. Simon responds that he likes their connection, citing that she helped protect him from his abusive father and she's the first person he's felt safe with besides his mother; this makes Mary smile with happiness. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Ryan undergoes a checkup. After finishing his tests, his physician reveals something to Ryan: a possible tumor on his liver. He decides to order a biopsy to determine whether it's cancer or not. That evening, as the polls close, Peake speaks to the people in his campaign HQ about what he did to expose Danford Chemcorp for their illegal activities and Joseph's involvement with them. He states that he will continue what he has been doing as D.A. and that he will ensure the citizens of Denver will get justice whatever it takes. Back in Denver Memorial, Pearce returns with Spier, just as Palmer arrives and reveals that Sonya made it out of surgery and is in the ICU. She goes to the ICU, where Spooner fills her in about Sonya's current condition. She goes to her wife's bedside and waits.

Back in the FJU HQ, Dougherty says that there is no sign of Frye and suspects that he must've slipped away, while Whitlock says that a BOLO is out on Rose. Drake says that she may not be the collaborator they are looking for, but she is likely involved with Fitzgerald as a hacker. Andrea remembers that Rose was angry at the FJU for failing to her and her family justice for her sister, which lead to her taking matters into her own hands with severe consequences. Redbird asks about Spencer, and Sykes reveals that they alerted TSA and other agencies to find out where Spencer may be heading for. Wie says that she and her unit want to join in on the manhunt for the other fugitives and Dougherty says that they will contact her if needed. Saxe arrives and states that Sonya made it out of surgery. Then he gets a call and turns on the TV: the polls show that Peake has beaten Harding in the race for DA. Back in the D.A. Office, Katherine and the others congratulate Peake for the win. He thanks them and expresses intent to continue doing the good work he and the office have been doing since he took over from Bishop.

At the end, Sonya wakes up, much to Pearce's elation. Back in the FJU HQ, Francis reveals the actual death count in the massacre: 20 dead and 19 wounded. Spier states that Pearce is lucky that her wife survived and will be okay. Sykes tells everyone to stay informed about where they and their families will be at all times since the fugitives are coming after them. Whitlock comes home to his empty house, perusing over about his impeding divorce, while Wie comes home and sees Javier and her family. Peake is congratulated by his family on his victory. Before leaving for home, Redbird sees a picture of Andrea and Holmes at her desk, realizing he has big shoes to fill. At the Sullivan home, Ryan asks his grandchildren about their day. Finn and Mary discuss about the time with Danielle and Simon, as Drake and Katherine return home. While they attend to the twins, Ryan gets a call from his physician that his biopsy appointment is set for in a few days, which he acknowledges. After hanging up, Ryan feels a sense of dread over his diagnosis and decides not to tell anyone in his family about it for the time being as he returns to interacting with them.

  • Taylor Lautner (Nathan Redbird) is upgraded to series regular.
  • Ruiz doesn't appear in the episode.

#15 - "The City of Light"

Nearly two weeks after the massacre, the FJU and the U.S. Marshals continue to work to pursue the remaining fugitives. Sykes and Dougherty consider bringing in the BMCU, Cold Case, Major Crimes, State Police and maybe the FBI to form a larger task force to find Fitzgerald, the other remaining fugitives and their collaborators. Pearce also suggests they should bring the Vice Unit too to help them out, which Dougherty says will consider. Ruiz, who is back at work on desk duty, asks her about Sonya; Pearce says that she is recovering well and will be out of the hospital in a few days. Then a black French man (Omar Sy) shows up and Andrea walks up to him, asking the man he needs something. The man says he may know something about one fugitive. Later Drake and Katherine arrive in the police station, they chat about Finn spending a lot of time with Danielle and Mary spending it with Simon, noting that their older children have really grown up. Katherine senses that Mary has really gotten close to Simon since after what happened with his abusive father. Drake says he talked to Cheryl about her son being with their daughter and, while she doesn't have a problem with it, she wants to know more about her and her family. Katherine then brings up how Finn spent time with Danielle's family at dinner, noting that while they were a little protective of her, they ultimately came to like Finn. Francis comes to them, revealing that someone they know has something about one of the fugitives. As Drake and Katherine enter the FJU's bullpen, they are surprised to see the black man, who is revealed to be Sylvain Bissonette, who was Drake's military counterpart back in his Marine days and is now a DGSI agent; Drake and Katherine gladly embrace him. Drake says he and Sylvain served with each other on his first tour of duty as Marines on a joint operation between the US and France, and Sylvain took a bullet meant for him. Katherine also reveals that he attended their wedding years ago. Then Drake asks him if he knows something about on of their fugitive. Sylvain reveals he and the FBI international team in Paris have discovered that Spencer Tomlin Jr. is in France with around five to six people, and is looking for something. Drake figures that Spencer is looking for his father's hidden financial stash and it's probably somewhere in France. Sylvain states he and the FBI agents over there believe that he is heading to Paris, and Drake figures that Sylvain has figured that the FJU would want to be the ones to bring him in, since he was their case. Sykes suggests Drake and Andrea should go with Sylvain to Paris while Katherine suggests she go too, since they need someone who helped prosecute Spencer, and she has knowledge of the laws in France; Dougherty has Ellis and Fox go with them. As Drake and Katherine pack up for the trip, Ryan says that he and Raina will keep an eye on the children, mainly D.J. and Arby. Drake notices that his father seems a little troubled and asks if he was okay. Deciding to conceal his diagnosis until his biopsy appointment, he assures him that he is fine and just bring Spencer in. Finn and Mary tells their parents to bring something back for them and the twins in Paris, which they promise they will as they head out.

Later, on the plane, Drake watches Katherine sleeping in her seat. Sylvain comes over to Drake as they sit across each chair. Drake asks Sylvain about his family and he says his wife Blanche and two children, Pierre and Marguerite are doing okay. They discuss their work and such; Sylvain notes that he heard about Drake and Katherine going to Copenhagen, Denmark a few years back, which Drake confirms that they did due to a big case involving the Russian Mafia; he also reveals that he has helped take down a corrupt, murderous lieutenant governor, a sex trafficking ring of powerful DC heavy hitters, a pedophilic cult, an renowned hitman who killed most of Katherine's family and a vengeance-based serial killer. Sylvain then explains some of the big cases of his career: a large internet scamming ring, a terrorist group planning to bomb several landmarks in Paris, an art and jewelry heist crew, and an underground sex trafficking ring. At Charles de Gaulle Airport, Drake, Katherine and the others arrive on the tarmac, where they are met by the FBI International agents: FBI Supervisory Special Agent Donovan Sawyer (Diego Klattenhoff), Head of the FBI International Fly Team in Paris; Agent Wendy Knight (Janet Montgomery), the team's second-in-command; James Nimh (Ian Anthony Dale), the team's profiler and tracker, Ebony Watkins (Danielle Brooks), the team's analyst and interrogation expert; and Reuben Orozco (Joseph Baena), the newest member of the team who is a West Point graduate and an expert at accounting. They also meet Europol Agent Hermione Parkinson (Dagmara Dominczyk), who is their liaison. The team takes the Sullivans and the others to their HQ. Sylvain reveals that he and his people are collaborating with them to find Spencer. Drake asks if they have found any leads of him and Knight reveals that they looked into his father's past visiting France; they are running down leads on any potential hiding places for the stash. Orozco says he looked into the Tomlin family finances, and he can see another reason why Spencer Jr. is looking for the fortune: the Tomlin estate was forced to pay out big settlements to the Grand and Escarra families, and Spencer Sr.'s wife divorced him shortly after his conviction, and took another big chunk of his fortune and their younger two children and moved to Florida for a fresh start, leaving her ex-husband and oldest son behind with a near-destitute estate. Andrea adds that Spencer Sr. died in prison shortly before Spencer Jr.'s escape. Sawyer says that they identified two of men with Spencer and they are hired guns. Drake believes Spencer Sr. give his son clues where to look while they were in prison, which Knight colludes he must've gave them in an encrypted way so no one else would realize it. Katherine says that they had help from Pierce Whitaker to take down both Tomlins. Both Sawyer and Nimh read the case's file and expressed some amazement to Drake and Katherine for working with the man who struck and killed Amanda; Drake and Katherine admit they are still working on fully forgiving Pierce. Sawyer suggests that they should consult with him to find out if he knows something about it.

Shortly afterwards, Drake and Katherine speak with Pierce via video call about Spencer Jr., asking if he knows anything about the Tomlin family's secret financial stash. Pierce notes that he did once overhear Spencer Jr. talking about a "contingency plan" in France, in case they ever found themselves in a legal or financial situation, and that it had something to do with crypto-currency. Katherine states that that sounds just like Fitzgerald's secret crypto-currency that he recovered from Goodson. Pierce wishes them luck of getting Spencer before ending the call. Watkins reports that one of Spencer's hired guns was spotted hailing a unmarked car outside of Hôtel-Dieu hospital. Sylvian says that his informant may have something on Spencer and agrees with meet with them near Notre Dame Cathedral. Sawyer senses that with Norte Dame and and Hôtel-Dieu hospital not far apart, there might be a connection. Drake and Katherine go with Sylvain, while Sawyer tells them to take Orozco and Parkinson with them, while he goes with Knight, Nimh, Ellis and Fox to track down the car, and Andrea and Watkins track the car's location.

Later, at Norte Dame, they entered the cathedral and the Sullivans are awed by the interior of it. Then Sylvain meets with his informant, Benoit Hebert, and assures him he can trust Drake and Katherine. Hebert then reveals that he knew there was something suspicious about Spencer when he saw him and six men in the nearby alley. He overheard them mention "properties and safe houses" all over the city and how what they need is in one of them. Drake asks any idea which location and Hebert figures it's a luxury apartment in Gare De Lyon. With that information, Parkinson relies that information to Sawyer. With that, he, Knight, Nimh and others head for the location with Andrea and Watkins head out to join the others. As Drake, Katherine, Sylvain and the others arrive, they meet up with Sawyer and his team, Paris police and a GIGN unit. Nimh says that there's about three men in the area, but no sign of Spencer. As everyone is loaded up, Sylvain gives the order and Drake and the others prepare to move in while Katherine stand by. When they raid the apartment, Sawyer takes out one suspect while Knight kills the second one when they both go for guns, forcing the last hired gunman to surrender.

At the FBI Paris HQ, Katherine, Knight and Watkins interrogate the surviving gunman for Spencer's whereabouts. Orozco identifies the guy as Wallace Barker, a former US Naval Petty Officer-turned-mercenary-for-hire. Sylvain reveals that Paris Police will be on the lookout for Spencer and his three remaining goons and will contact them when they find something. Orozco check out the Tomlin's family past and finds several possible locations where the financial stash might be at. Examining the locations based on where Spencer and the others have been seen at, Nimh believes they might be somewhere in Le Marais. Sylvain and Parkinson then discover that Spencer and the three men were last seen boarding the subway in Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame station about 17 minutes before. Nimh believes that they are heading to Le Marais, where the financial stash might be at. Sawyer has everyone gear up to go after Spencer and his remaining hired guns.

As everyone arrives in Le Marais, they immediately patrol the area. Then Nimh finds out that there is one location that Spencer Sr. had previously hang out at: Club de Lumio, a prestigious gentleman's club. Drake, Andrea, Sylvain, Sawyer, Nimh, Ellis and Fox arrive at the front entrance, while Katherine, Knight, Orozco, Watkins, Parkinson and others arrive at the rear. Both teams quickly surround and enter the club from both ends. As they sweep the inside, Spencer contacts Fitzgerald on a secured video call and sends him his father's crypto-currency. Fitzgerald, with Rose assisting him, receives it and thanks Spencer for getting it since the hidden money can be used for their plans for Denver and getting their revenge on those who put them in prison. Spencer then reveals that the authorities are likely on to him and his men, with the FJU probably helping them. Fitzgerald asks if he can get out of Paris; Spencer says that he isn't sure, but will try. Fitzgerald instructs him to destroy the evidence while he and the others handle things on their end. After ending the call, Fitzgerald has Frye and Dressler get everything set for their operation, then has Rose to inform Stetler and the others to keep an eye on things on their end. Back in the club, Sylvain spots one of Spencer's men and informs the others. Both teams prepare to move in for the arrests. Then Andrea and Nimh notice Spencer and two of the others leaving a room and alerted the others. As the man Sylvain spots meets up with Spencer near the hallway area, Knight, Orozco, Watkins and Parkinson block their path and Drake, Sylvain, Sawyer and the others surround them. Spencer and one of the men make a run for it and Drake, Sawyer and Sylvain pursue them while the others arrest the two hired henchmen. Spencer's remaining man fires at the others as he runs, forcing Drake and Sylvain to shoot him dead while Spencer continues to to make his escape. Just has he reaches the back door, Katherine kicks it into him, from the other side, knocking him down and aims her handgun at him. Drake, Sylvain and Sawyer then arrive and arrest Spencer just as the other authorities arrive.

At the FBI Paris HQ, Katherine, Sawyer, Knight and Ellis interrogate Spencer for Fitzgerald's whereabouts, which he repeatedly refused to give up. Nimh and Orozco reveal to Drake and the others that the computer Spencer use has been wiped clean and the sim card on his phone is destroyed. Orozco reveals how much was on the crypto-currency: $12,500,000. The information shocks everyone in the room and Drake believes the money is now in the hands of Fitzgerald because otherwise, Spencer wouldn't have destroyed the evidence and tried to flee the club. Katherine notes that they are not getting anything out of Spencer as Drake updates her on their recent findings. She adds that she and the U.S. Attorney's office has spoken to the French government, and they have agreed to extradite Spencer back to the U.S. Sawyer and Knight say that they and their colleagues will handle things regarding Spencer's actions in Paris from there and tells everyone to return home with huim. Drake and Katherine thanks Sylvain, Sawyer and his team for their help, and before leaving Paris, the two get some gifts for their family, have Sylvain take a pictures of them in front of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower, and briefly visit the Louvre.

At the end, Drake, Katherine and the others return to Denver with the captured Spencer. Drake sarcastically welcomes Spencer home before Ellis and Fox take him into their custody. Drake and Katherine then return home to their family; they present their children some gifts, as well as Ryan, Raina, Nadia and Jenny. Finn and Mary sees that his parents also have one gift for Danielle and Simon; a snow globe for Danielle and a beret for Simon. Ryan congratulates them on apprehending Spencer. Katherine then notes it's been a long trip and they are a bit jetlagged, so so and Drake would like to get some sleep. As Mary plans to give Simon his present the next day, Finn goes to the Donnell house and presents Danielle the snow globe from his parent while they were in Paris. Danielle is pleased that his parents thought of her and that her mother also give her and the rest of the family a few gifts from there. Finn asks what they should do for the night since it's the weekend is the next day. She suggests a date at the movies and he agrees with her, agreeing to discuss which one they should see the following day before he leaves to head back home.

#16 - "Burning Streets"

At Denver Memorial, Ryan undergoes a biopsy and Ripley tells him what the results are: he has Stage 2 liver cancer, which she also confirms through her own experiences with her grandmother. Ryan is a little shaken up by the revelation. Back home, he keeps silent about his diagnosis. The next day, Ryan is in bed, laying awake while pondering about his heath, when Katherine tells him he and Drake are heading to work; he acknowledges her as he slowly gets up. After breakfast, Ryan spends time with D.J. and Arby, as he confronts his mortality. At the FJU, Drake arrives and Whitlock reveals that they haven't gotten anything from Spencer. Ruiz announces that he's been cleared for active duty. Sykes then enters, revealing that there's been a violent rape-murder of a gang's leader wife and daughter and they will be working in tandem with the Gang Unit. Drake, Ruiz, Whitlock, Andrea and Redbird head out to the scene.

At the house where the crime took place, Drake and the others arrive and met with now-Sergeant Reneé Okello, Detectives Sam Kinney and Jake Capra, Lieutenant Marta Quiñones (Victoria Cartagena) and Officer Billy Turk (Tru Valentino), the latter two of whom are the replacements for late Nicole Richter and Wade Lewis. They revealed to their FJU counterparts that the wife and daughter of gang leader Emmitt Colson, Talia and Tiffany, were gang-raped and then murdered, execution style. Whitlock asks if it was gang-related and Kinney believes it might be. Capra reveals that Colson's gang, the 12th Street Hellhounds, has recently been pushing the incumbent gang, the Diamantes de Azul, out of their territory, and it's possible the Diamantes wanted to send a message. Quiñones says that the Diamantes leader, Chato "Cuchilla" Garza, is known to be ruthless, hardened and intimidating and will kill anyone who tries to testify against him. Drake asks about Colson, and Turk says that Colson is very territorial and deadly, but does care for his family and now that they are dead, he's probably going to want the blood of those responsible and will stop at nothing to get it. Drake fears that if Colson blames the Diamantes for his family's murders, a gang war will erupt in the city. Captain Logan Wolff then arrives and says that it's up to them to make sure that that doesn't happen. Then he orders his people to give the FJU copies of the files on Colson, Garza and their affiliated gang members and to stakeout any of their known hideouts. Reporters ask Wolff if they know anything about the case, and he only comments that they are still investigating as to whether the killings are gang-related or not and they want to ensure that a gang war doesn't erupt. Drake asks Ruiz if he's okay, and Ruiz admits that he's still working on things one day at a time, admitting that psychological help is something that doesn't bode well for him, given his past and such. Drake says that he will have to power through it for his family's sake.

Back in the Gang Unit HQ, Wolff and his squad fill Drake, Ruiz, Sykes, Pearce, Whitlock, Andrea, Redbird, Francis and Lincoln about both the 12th Street Hellhounds and the Diamantes de Azul. Quiñones says her CI informed her that Colson has been raising hell over the deaths of his family and is looking to get Garza and his gang one way or another; Drake notes he figured that this might happened. Cooke reveals her autopsy report on both Talia and Tiffany: they were both raped by at least two assailants, beaten severely and then shot in the back. C.J. arrives and reveals he found three sets of shoeprints in the area, meaning there was at least three or more people involved. Checking the shoe sizes, it's revealed the foot size on one of the pairs is an 11. From this Kinney remembers one of Diamantes members has size 11 feet: Nestor Aguilar. As the FJU and Gang Unit stakeout Aguilar, they follow him to an apartment complex, which Wolff reveals has a massive gang infestation. Then they get a call that four of Diamantes members were found murdered at an abandoned car dealership. Upon arriving at the scene, they learn that all four men were shot execution-style and one witness tells them that a man fitting Colson's description was among those present at the scene. Whitlock realizes that it's likely the beginning of the gang war they've been dreading.

Back in the FJU, everyone scrambles to investigate more of each gang's activities, hoping to resolve the situation before more people end up dead. Sykes notices that Pearce seems a little distracted and asks if it has anything to do with Sonya. Pearce admits that the shooting at Rainbow Palace is still fresh on their minds and Sonya has been having nightmares about being shot. Sykes asks if they are seeing a therapist and Pearce says that they are working on it. Saxe arrives and Drake asks if he can get them a speedy warrant for the Diamantes' gang-infested apartment complex, given that a gang war has just been triggered. Saxe says that all they have in the rape-murder case is all circumstantial at best, but encourages them to keep looking and find something solid so they can put a stop to the brewing gang war. Lincoln then reveals that three Hellhounds and two more Diamantes were just found dead beneath an underpass. Wolff says that they are going to need warrants for that apartment complex and the Hellhounds hangout, which is an abandoned mall in Commence City. Saxe agrees to get them the warrants for the gang homicides and calls Katherine, who goes to Judge Julian for warrants for both gangs. He signs the warrants and Katherine notifies everyone. With that, the combined FJU and Gang Unit raid the two gang hangouts with help from SWAT officers. Drake, Ruiz, Lincoln, Quiñones, Okello and Capra arrest Garza, Aguilar and the majority of his gang while Whitlock, Andrea, Redbird, Francis, Kinney and Turk detain Colson and his remaining gang members.

At the arraignment hearings, Saxe requests all defendants on both gangs to be remanded without bail, given their brewing war with each other. Colson angrily announces that Garza and his people murdered his family, causing a mass argument at the court between both gangs. Judge Grant silences them and has all of them remanded without bail and placed in protective custody due to their war with each other. Afterwards, Katherine notes that they still have to figure out who exactly raped and murdered Talia and Tiffany Colson and whether or not Garza ordered it. Investigating further with Cohen and Quelling's help, the FJU and Gang Unit learn that one of the Diamantes members is willing to talk. The member reveals to Drake, Katherine, Saxe, Cohen, Quiñones and Kinney that Garza sent Aguilar and two others to get Colson, but they found that he wasn't home, but his family was. He heard Garza speak to Aguilar on the phone that he wanted to send Colson a message about moving into his territory by going after his family. But later, they learned that that Colson and his people had found and tortured the Diamantes members at the car dealership and executed them afterwards, igniting the war between the gangs. Katherine and Saxe confront Garza for starting the war between him and the Hellhounds by going after Colson's family and tries to get him to plea out, but Garza refuses the deal. At trial, Garza, Aguilar and the Diamantes are all convicted of their crimes while Colson and the Hellhounds are also found guilty of their own crimes.

During the case, Ruiz struggles to copes with the dog attack. Fleiss offers to give him a therapy session and he agrees. During the session, he admits he has been having nightmares, and has become distant from his and Erica's pet chihuahuas, the latter of which upsets him since he usually loves dogs; Fleiss figures that he might have some minor PTSD and makes suggestion on how to deal with it. Also, Ryan consults with Ripley about treatment options for his cancer. Ripley tells that the best course of treatment is radiation therapy and chemotherapy. She also advises him that it's best not to go through all this alone, and to tell his family about his diagnosis. Ryan responds that he will, he just needs to find the right time and place to do it. Elsewhere, Finn visits Danielle at her house and they prepare for their date, but he is shocked to see Piper. Danielle reveals she is stuck babysitting Piper since she has a cold, but Finn suspects Piper might be faking her illness. Piper protests that she's not, but Finn notes that she doesn't look like she has a cold. Piper tells Danielle that she wants to go out with them, but Danielle reminds her that she shouldn't be allowed outside if she does have a cold. As Piper dejectedly heads upstairs, Finn believes Danielle shouldn't be so harsh on Piper, but she reveals that she has becomes increasingly annoyed with her sister's recent behavior. Finn tells her to give Piper some time to calm down, and offers for them to have their date there at her house instead. Danielle agrees and the two decide to make each other lunch. Later, once things have finally settled, Finn and Danielle focus on their date while Piper stays at her room. After lunch, they watch a movie together, and cuddle with each other on the sofa. Then, Finn and Danielle hear Piper screaming upstairs and they both rush to her room where they find her on the floor in agony, apparently after having fallen from her bed. Danielle tries to get Piper to walk, but Piper responds that her ankle hurts and she can't move it. Without any choice, Finn and Danielle take Piper to the hospital. At the hospital, Kira treats Piper, and tells Finn and Danielle that she has a sprained ankle, and that staying off it for about a few days and icing it should help. Andrea and Chris arrive and Danielle and Finn explain what had happened; Danielle suspects that Piper may have injured herself to get some attention and that she may have faked having a cold. Andrea somberly believes this might be true, given Piper's increasingly rebellious behavior. Chris, however, blames Finn, believing that had he not been there, Danielle could have prevented everything. But Andrea quickly defends Finn, saying that he is not to blame for Piper's recent injury, saying that she likely did it to herself likely due to her recent rebelliousness. With that, Danielle leaves with Finn in frustration with both Piper's rebellion and her father's behavior at Finn.

Meanwhile, Peake tells Katherine and Saxe that the remaining gang members not in jail on both sides are currently on the run and will more than likely be detained by Gang Unit whenever possible. Ruiz returns home, and for the first time since his dog attack, pets his chihuahuas, much to Erica's relief. He admits that he is still struggling with it and Erica says that she will help him out when he needs it. Ryan sees Finn driving home with Danielle and he asks about Piper. They reveal that she is fine, but are more worried about her behavior. They spend time with the twins, which Finn and Mary playing with D.J. while Danielle helps plays Arby, something that pleases Finn and Mary. Danielle says helping out with Madison and helping young children at the HOCED Foundation has given her some lessons on how to handle young children; Ryan replies that it helps him and the rest of the his family like her more. Drake and Katherine make it back home, apologizing for being late due to traffic. As they help with the twins, Danielle says that she's staying with them for the night because of what's going on with Piper, and Andrea has already given her approval; the Sullivans agree to let her stay. As this goes on, Drake notices his father seems a little off and wonders what's going on with him.

At the end, Andrea stays with Piper as she questions her about her injury and tries to persuade her not to lie. Piper maintains that she slipped and fell, but Andrea is still not convinced. Meanwhile, Ruiz talks to Erica about his problems, and Pearce checks with Sonya at home and the two agree to seek therapy themselves together. At the Sullivan home, Katherine tucks the twins in bed as Drake looks on. As the twins sleep, Drake and Katherine head to their room, and notice Mary speaking with Simon on the phone, wishing him good night before she and Danielle, who is sleeping on a sleeping bag in her room, go to bed. With that, the two continue to their room to go to bed. In Finn's room, he looks at a picture of Danielle on his phone before going to sleep. Ryan, meanwhile, remains awake as he looks out the window from his room, contemplating how to reveal his cancer to his family.

#17 - "Runaway Jury"

Drake and Katherine watch their now two-and-a-half year old twins interacting with Cody; they note just how fast time has passed and how D.J. and Arby have grown up. Finn comes in saying that Danielle called and revealed what really happened to Piper; Andrea finally forced her to admit that she caused her own sprained ankle, and it's confirmed that she never had a cold to begin with. Realizing Piper's rebellious behavior is getting worse, Katherine says that until she gets help, she shouldn't be allowed at the HOCED foundation. Ryan notes that he had seen some teenagers' rebellion led to them committing crimes if left left unchecked, back when he was a judge. He wonders where Mary is and Drake says that she's hanging with Simon and his mother Cheryl at their place. Ryan acknowledges this before heading upstairs, but Drake notices something off with his father. Katherine asks if there's something going on, and Drake admits that his father has been very secretive recently. She tells her husband to try to talk to Ryan, but Drake says he tried and he's not revealing anything. Katherine tells that they should drop the twins off at daycare and head to work. At the FJU, Drake calls Jenny to find out what is going on with Ryan due to his recent secretive behavior. He went to Andrea about Piper; she informs him that in addition to faking and deliberately endangering her health Piper has also stolen items from both Danielle and T.J.; she, Dunnigan and Chris, are all working together trying to find a solution for the problem. Ruiz advises that they should talk with him since he had dealt with Angel's rebellion. Whitlock then comes in and informs him and the others that they got a case; a young girl at Denver Memorial drugged and gang-raped at an office party at the IT company OmniTech.

At Denver Memorial, Kingston tells Drake, Ruiz, Andrea and Redbird that the girl, Eleanor "Ellie" Harris, was gang-raped and they were able to get her to do a rape kit. Drake has Andrea and Redbird talk to Ellie while he and Ruiz return to the crime scene to investigate. Ellie tells them that she is an intern at OmniTech, and she was attending to the office party, which was celebrating the company launching a new ride-share app, OmniRyde. She notes that she had a couple of glasses of champagne, but started to feel dizzy, and stumbled into the office's conference room and passed out, with her not able to remember anything else. At the OmniTech building, Drake and the others question the people who found Ellie. C.J. assesses the crime scene, and reveals his findings: there was more than one assailant given the shoe impressions left in the carpet near where Ellie was found on the floor, and given the wrappers that were left behind, they all used condoms while raping her. Back at the hospital, Andrea bumps into Kira and asked her about Piper's "injury". Kira reveals she checked Piper's X-ray again after she was rushed to the hospital and confirms that her ankle was never broken, only sprained. She apologizes to Andrea, but Andrea tells her that it wasn't her fault and reveals that Piper fooled everybody. However, Kira tells Andrea that she did find something on Piper and it could be very worrying; she shows Andrea Piper's X-ray results which shows several injuries to her ribs, possibly like she's been getting into a lot of fights lately. Andrea is astonished by this and decides to confront her daughter once and for all.

Later that afternoon, Finn arrives at Katherine's office, and they talks about Piper. Katherine believes Finn is spending too much time with Danielle and suggests he should cut back on seeing her, but Finn refuses to back down and attests that Piper is the problem. Katherine believes Piper is rebelling due to feeling down and neglected by her sister. She notes that her cousin Tracy, who was always like a little sister to her, started similarly acting out when Katherine entered her teens and started dating; they were eventually able to reconnect after spending sister time together over the course of a week, during which she took a break from seeing her then-boyfriend. She suggests that maybe Finn and Danielle should take a break from dating to allow her and Piper to reconnect. Finn, however, tells his mother that he feels that it's unfair to him and Danielle to put things on hold because Piper's got a problem with it. As they continue to argue, Maddie enters the office and informs Katherine that the defense attorney on one of her cases is there to discuss a plea. She tells Finn that they'll finish talking later before leaving to meet the attorney.

Back in the FJU, Francis reveals that he did some consulting work for OmniTech before he joined Denver PD, further stating that he knows some of the people who still work there; Whitlock states they could be suspects in Ellie's rape. Sykes asks if he knows anyone who was present at the office party, and Francis reveals that he went to college with several of the higher-ups, including the CEO, Winston Stiles. Sykes has the FJU check those people out. As they were heading out, Andrea informs Drake about her discovery about Piper's rebellious antics, and he suggests that she get in touch with a child psychologist or therapist immediately. At Pearce's home, she checks on Sonya, who has been hardly sleeping since the shooting at the Rainbow Palace. Pearce says it's takes time to get over something like that, even with therapy. Sonya admits that she still remembers Frye and Hemmerling shooting up the place, feeling the pain from the gunshot wound to her chest, and her fear that she was going to die that night; she keeps re-living those feelings in her nightmares almost every night. Pearce assures her wife that she is loved and she will get through this with the help of her and their family.

At OmniTech, Drake, Ruiz, Lincoln and Francis question Stiles, who recognizes the latter. He figures that they are here about Ellie, which they confirm. Stiles provides himself an alibi for the time of the rape, which later checks out. Francis asks about anyone who knows Ellie and Stiles reveals there were three of his IT experts whom were present with her at the office party; Robert McKinney, Leonard Douglas and Hugh Perconte. Andrea and Redbird check out the three; they find that the trio are the top IT experts in the company and have managed to buy parts of the company stock. They are also all known Casanovas and womanizers, often leaving with different girls every night. As the FJU stakeout the three men, they find out that McKinney was the one who brought the condoms. Drake and Redbird asks Ellie if she recognizes the three men before she blacked out. After some effort, she recalls seeing all three men standing over her and that McKinney was the one who started undoing her dress before she blacked out. With that, the FJU arrests McKinney, Douglas and Perconte for Ellie's rape. While that was happening, Jenny follows Ryan around and spots him entering Denver Memorial hospital. She quietly follows him to the Oncology ward where Ripley gives him a course of radiation and chemotherapy. Realizing that Ryan is sick, Jenny starts to leave, but Ryan spots her and tells Ripley that he'll be back. When he stops Jenny from leaving, she confronts about his illness and he reveals that he has Stage 2 Liver Cancer. Jenny realizes that Drake and his family don't know about it, and she asks why he has to tell them about it. Ryan says he's been working up the courage and waiting for the best moment to tell him. Jenny says that he needs to be the one to tell them and warns him that if he doesn't soon enough, she will do it. Ryan assures his niece that he'll tell them in due time.

At the arraignment hearing for the three men, Katherine sees Roosevelt defending them, and realizing that Stetler is up to his tricks. Despite her push for remand due the defendants' vast financial resources, the judge grants them high bail and forces them to surrender their passports. After court, Katherine tells Cohen and Quelling to monitor Stetler and Roosevelt's activities, as well as those of the three defendants. During trial with Judge Grant presiding, the testimonies of both sides were heard, the evidence is presented, and Katherine makes a highly compelling argument. But to Katherine and Saxe's shock, the jury finds the three men not guilty. Ellie is devastated by the verdict, but Katherine believes that something is not right and decides to take a closer look, having Cohen and Quelling look into it. Sure enough, they end up finding something: four of the jurors, including the foreman, have recently came into shares of OmniTech stock. They look into their phone and social media records and find DMs that trace back to McKinney, Douglas, and Perconte made during the trial. Katherine and Saxe realize that they had been bought off to bring in the non-guilty verdict. After showing the evidence to Judge Grant, she agrees that the jury was tampered with and orders the three men to be rearrested and retried, since by law, double jeopardy is nullified jury tampering. Katherine confronts Roosevelt over bribing the jury; shocked by the accusation, Roosevelt unhappily assures that he and Stetler had nothing to do with the bribery because if they did, he would face disbarment and both he and Stetler would be facing their own charges if that happened. Katherine warns him that they better be telling the truth, and Roosevelt assures her he is and that they won't defend McKinney and the others again because of it. Roosevelt later notifies Stetler about the jury members' bribery. Infuriated that they were denied their chance to get back at Katherine, he realizes that their clients were responsible and instructs Roosevelt not to defend them again. With the revelation of McKinney, Douglas and Perconte paying off members of the jury, they are rearrested on for Ellie's rape and on additional charges of jury tampering and bribery, and their assets are frozen.

While Katherine and Saxe consults with Peake about the case, Ruby arrives and asks if to speak with her husband alone. As Katherine and Saxe left the office, Ruby reveals that one of their children, Thomas, has fallen into some gambling trouble. Peake becomes exasperated due to having dealt with Thomas's gambling problems in the past and asks how much does he owe this time; she responds $30,000. He decides to clear Thomas's debts, but not before he has a long talk with him about it. Meanwhile, in a new trial with the defendant's new lawyer and a new jury, all testimonies are re-heard and all evidence is re-presented, and this time, all three men are found guilty. McKinney curses at Katherine for foiling their chances at freedom, but Katherine defiantly counters that they did that themselves, and that they should've known better to think that being rich made them above the law.

At the Peake household, Peake and Ruby confronts Thomas for his recent gambling. Thomas tries to assure him that he just hit a bad streak, but if given time he can recover from it. Peake informs his son that he will pay his debts for him but, he is barred from gambling and will not use any of their family's money to do so; he will also enter a treatment program and stick to it. At the HOCED Foundation Center, Danielle informs Finn about Piper's recent injuries and reveals that she has been fighting with some classmates and hanging out with some bad kids. Her family also found out that she stole some cash at school and attempted to blame another student for the theft. Finn realizes that Piper is getting worse, and Danielle admits that she doesn't think her hanging out with him is the source of Piper's bad behavior. Finn doesn't believe so either, but Katherine thinks it might be at least part of the problem. Danielle says that Katherine and Andrea talked with her about it after her argument with her, and she believes Piper's acting out may also have something to do with their father not being around as much as he used to, after having been promoted to partner at his law firm, and their mother and stepfather giving more attention with Madison than her; Danielle understands the latter, since she's been through the same thing with Piper herself, and notes that Piper doesn't understand it, since she was used to being the baby of the family before Madison's birth. Then, Katherine gets everybody attention as she reveals that she has something special for the center: a special indoor mural painted by some young artists from the community center on one of the walls hidden behind a curtain. She then notices Andrea is trying to call her but Katherine sends it to voicemail as she prepares for the reveal. Drake then receives a call from Andrea, who asks him if Piper is with them at the foundation; he denies having seen her. At same time, a hooded figure, who is revealed to be Piper, sneaks out of the foundation without anybody seeing her and seems very happy about something. Katherine then opens the curtain to reveal the mural, only to find it spray-painted over with graffiti, much to everyone's shock.

At the Donnell house, Piper comes home where she finds Andrea and Dunnigan waiting for her and then harshly confront her about her whereabouts. Piper claims that she was visiting a friend, but Andrea tells her daughter that she knows that she was the one who defaced the mural at the HOCED Foundation. Piper defiantly tries to deny it, but Andrea points out there was a security camera at the front that caught her unmasking herself with a smile on her face, and she's wearing the same hoodie she did when she committed the vandalism. Piper gives Andrea the cold shoulder and tells her that if she expects her to feel guilty, she's got her hopes up too high. Fed up, Andrea tells her rebellious daughter that she is barred from returning to the HOCED Foundation indefinitely, is grounded until further notice, and she will see a therapist, which is final. Piper storms upstairs to her room, but not before snapping that Andrea can't just neglect her for everyone else in the family and then be a mother to her now that she's making her look bad. With that, she slams the door to her room and locks it. Andrea sadly realizes that Piper is spiraling further and makes a call to Fleiss for a referral; Fleiss gives her the name of a therapist and any tips if things gets worse. She also recommends that if Piper doesn't respond to therapy, she should be placed in a school for at-risk teens. The next day, at the foundation, another copy of the special indoor mural painted by some young artists from the community center is presented without any problems. Danielle apologizes for what Piper had done, but Katherine says that she has nothing to do with her sister's actions and apologizes to her for thinking that Piper's rebellion had solely anything to do with her being around Finn. Mary, Audrey, and T.J. check on the foundation and Katherine says it went well. Audrey says that Piper has been grounded and is not allowed in the HOCED Foundation again until she answers for the vandalism; and T.J. reveals that the family is working to get her into therapy. Mary hopes it will be enough, but Danielle doubts that and that she knows the names of the bad kids Piper's been hanging out at. Katherine says that she's heard of them: a juvenile gang called the Hyenas, and they seem to be getting worse by the day. Then Ellie shows up, much to their surprise. She reveals has donated some money she got from OmniTech as an apology for what happened to her as gratitude for prosecuting her rapists. She also says that she is moving forward and going to a support group for rape victims, which they congratulate her for.

At the end, Peake and Ruby drop Thomas off of at the treatment program for his gambling addiction. Pearce is happy to see Sonya finally sleeping for the first time since the shooting. Jenny finds herself at a crossroads over Ryan's secret as he speaks to the children at the foundation about life. Drake, Katherine and their family look on at this, with the former looks at his father with concern, feeling he is hiding something.

#18 - "Scars Of The Past"

Concurrently with the events of the hostage situation at Denver Memorial's ER, Drake and Katherine, along with Drake's fellow FJU colleagues, watch the news of it as it develops. Drake admits to his wife that it's a good thing they have good insurance, and what the McGovern family's health insurance and the hospital's CFO did to them is unacceptable. Katherine says that she has spoke to Crowe about it, and says that she is working on getting the boy, Marcus McGovern, on the donor's list. Pearce asks about Kira and Sykes says that Francis is at the scene to find out. Katherine says that she heard that the family set up a GoFundMe to try to pay for their son's heart transplant. Drake says that they might donate the family as relief for all they've been through. Upon seeing James and Aaron McGovern's talking to Marcus on the phone, Drake, Katherine and the others are moved by it. Then when two rogue SWAT officers breach and the brothers took them down, Katherine lambasts the officers for their rogue actions, which Drake and many others agree. Lincoln wonders what had happened. Sykes says that he will get answers about it and tells them that they have a case to investigate: the rape of a young girl found in the back alley of a laundromat. Whitlock, Andrea and Redbird head out to investigate.

Once they arrived at the laundromat, the officers present inform Whitlock, Andrea and Redbird that a man waiting for his laundry to dry went outside for a smoke and found the girl in the alley all banged up with her shorts and underwear around her ankles, and immediately called 9-1-1. She was taken to another hospital since Denver Memorial still has the hostage situation in progress. Later, when they arrive at the hospital, Andrea and Redbird talk to the victim, 8-year-old Kelly Ragucci, about her attack. She reveals she was in a nearby park with her older sister, and went to the bathroom alone while her sister was busy hanging out with her friends; she was grabbed from behind as soon as she exited the bathroom. The man, who was wearing a devil mask, pulled in her into a van, bound and gagged her with duct tape, and drove to a location. After he had his way with her, he then untied her, drove to the alley and dumped her there. After that is done, the doctors in that hospital give the detective Kelly's rape kit. Andrea notices Redbird is bothered by something and he admits the case reminds him of his sister's abduction and rape. Whitlock reminds him not to let his anger about it affect his judgment; Redbird assures them that he's trying his best, but the whole case is sickening him.

Back in the FJU, after Redbird and the others return, Drake and Pearce reveal that the hostage situation in Denver Memorial's ER has been resolved with Marcus getting his heart transplant; Andrea, Redbird and Whitlock are glad to hear that. Katherine says she and Drake will make a donation to the McGovern family, along with many of their colleagues. Sykes asks about the victim and Whitlock fills them on about Kelly's rape. C.J. arrives and that he found something on the semen samples from Kelly's rape kit; he ran the DNA through CODIS and it has matches to three other unsolved child rape cases committed over the past 20 years. Upon hearing that, the FJU decides to take a closer look at all the cases. While going over the unsolved child rape cases, Redbird finds that one of them to his utter shock, is his sister Tanya's case. He realizes the man who attacked Kelly also kidnapped and raped Tanya 20 years before, along with two other girls in the interim. When he shows this to Sykes, he, although shocked by it, suggests to Redbird that perhaps he shouldn't work on this case. But Redbird insists that he needs to stay on it, since the man who attacked Tanya is out there and has done it to other girls, including Kelly. He's going to talk to Tanya and see if she can remember anything about the man. Andrea decides to come with him, and Sykes advices her to keep an eye on him.

Meanwhile, Mary tries to enjoy her day at school, but when she heads off to lunch, she is shocked when she hears a group of kids which is led by Scott Wesker and Dawn Volker talking about the vandalism at HOCED Foundation. Dawn suggests the head of the foundation (unaware it is Katherine) staged the whole stunt to draw attention from the public and starts to laugh about the events. Mary slams her hand on her table before walking away in frustration. She bumps into Finn and Danielle, telling them that some students are making fun of Katherine and even suggesting she "hired somebody" to stage the vandalism in the foundation. As Finn is angered at hearing that students are mocking their mother, Danielle tries to defend Piper, explaining she is having a difficult time, but Mary tells Danielle that Piper doesn't seem to care who she's hurts with her actions. Danielle tells Mary to let her know if Piper gets worse; Mary agrees, then mentions the names of Wesker and Volker and that they are members of the Hyenas, which shocks Danielle, who realizes that Piper is hanging out with the juvenile gang. As Danielle warns Mary to stay away from Scott, Dawn and their friends, Finn suggests getting their parents involved. Then, Finn, Mary and Danielle see Dawn heading off and overhear her talking to an unknown person on her cell phone; Dawn tells the person that they've got a lot of heat on them for what happened at the HOCED Foundation's center. Then she asked them if they were responsible for the vandalism and she was left surprised that person admits the truth, seemly confirming Dawn is speaking to Piper on the phone. Mary wants to talk to Piper but Finn and Danielle warns her off as Danielle explains to Mary that she will make things worse. Mary tries to argue back but Finn and Danielle make her promise that she won't find Piper and confront her.

At the Redbird family house, Redbird and Andrea arrive. They are soon greeted by Redbird's mother Nora, who welcomes them with open arms. Redbird reveals to Nora that they found a lead to Tanya's attacker and need to talk to her. Nora, shocked by the news, isn't sure it's a good idea because Tanya has been trying to move forward from it since it happened, and forcing her to bring it all up again might trigger those painful memories. Redbird understands this, but he needs her help to make a case against her attacker since the man has did it to several other girls, including a recent victim. With this, Redbird and Andrea meet up with Tanya. After informing Tanya that her attacker has assaulted three other girls, she is shocked. Redbird and Andrea reluctantly tells her that they need to her to remember that terrible moment so they can built a case against him. After some gentle persuasion, Tanya finally agrees to reveal what happened to her on Halloween 20 years before: after Redbird had sent her away to spend time with her friends, she started walking to another house to continue trick-or-treating, when she was grabbed by a man wearing a devil mask. He pulled in her into a van, bound and gagged her with duct tape, drove to an unknown location, had his way with her, then untied her, and dumped her in an empty lot where she was later found by some teenagers. Recalling all this causes Tanya to break down in tears; Redbird holds his sister in comfort. Then their father Floyd arrives. Angered over his son questioning Tanya and still not over what happened 20 years ago, he coldly tells Redbird to leave. With the information from Tanya, they return compare it to Kelly's case and the other two cold cases and all the details from all cases match up perfectly. Drake notes that they are looking for a serial rapist and they need to find him before he gets the urge to strike again and hurt another girl.

During the investigation, they learn that the devil's mask is a latex one commonly sold every Halloween. They bring Fleiss to assess the serial rapist: she feels that the devil mask gives him some feeling of power, especially with how he terrorizes his victims, though she won't be able to deduce why until they identify and find him. Afterwards, Finn arrives at the unit. He reveals to Drake about the Hyenas and them making fun of Katherine and the foundation over the vandalism, likely from Piper. Redbird reveals to Drake and Andrea that he dealt with Wesker during his Juvenile Crimes days, and that Wesker has a history of destructive behavior and has been investigated for robbery, arson and drug dealing, but nothing has ever held up in court. Drake also asks about Dawn Volker and Redbird states one of his old colleagues from back then had dealt with her and she is known for fighting and vandalism. Andrea gets a little more worried about Piper hanging out with the gang. Ruiz comes over and states that they have found something about the man they are looking for. C.J. then reveals that the DNA from the semen shows signs of containing sickle cell anemia, meaning the rapist has it. But when Redbird looks through the database for any known rapists who have that condition, he finds that none of them live or work within the vicinity where the four rapes took place. He then checks anyone with that condition and he finds one person who was within the vicinity of where all four rapes took place: Larry Freeman, a 41-year-old who works for UPS as a delivery driver. He also finds out that he and Freeman lived in the same neighborhood around the same time of Tanya's rape. Redbird writes a note on Andrea's desk about this before heading out himself.

As Redbird stakes out on Freeman's home, he sees him leaving, though not in his work uniform since it's his day off. As Freeman gets into his pickup and heads out, Redbird follows him. Andrea finds Redbird's note about him identifying Freeman, and that he lived in the same neighborhood for years, including back when Tanya was raped. Upon seeing this, she warns Sykes and Whitlock about it. Realizing that Redbird is going after Freeman on his own, but allowed the others to know where he is, Sykes orders them to find both of them. Drake has Francis learn out more about Freeman as he joins the others in the field. Francis finds out that Freeman made deliveries at Kelly's house, as well as the homes of the other two victims after Tanya. As Redbird continues to tail Freeman, he sees him arrive at an abandoned hospital. As Freeman heads inside, Redbird follows him without being seen. Before he enters the hospital, he calls Andrea with his cell and, upon her answering, leaves the call running to allow the FJU to trace its location. Andrea realizes what Redbird is doing, and Francis traces the call to the hospital. Redbird continues to follow Freeman, he sees him going downstairs to the basement floor. Redbird uses a red marker to write on the door to lead his colleagues to the location where they are at. He then hears a whimpering noise, and peaks into a room he saw Freeman walked into. There, he sees Freeman with another girl, this time, 9-years-old, bound and gagged with duct tape. He immediately reveals himself, identifies himself as a police officer, and tells Freeman to get away from the girl. Freeman turns to him and tells him good luck catching him before rushing out. Redbird uses his pocket knife knife to cut the girl free and tells her to hide since other officers will be arrive soon; he then rushes after Freeman. As he heads down to the basement and searches it, Redbird finds the devil's mask and some folders in one room; these folders are revealed to be pictures of multiple girls Freeman has targeted over the years, including Kelly. Then he finds a picture of Tanya, which infuriates him. He then spots a shadow in the corner of eye, and turns as Freeman tries to ambush him with a tire iron. Redbird quickly grab and twists his wrist, forcing him to drop the stick, then shoves to the wall and sticks his gun in his face. He shows Freeman Tanya's picture, lambasting him for kidnapping and raping his sister 20 years prior. He states that he blamed himself for sending her to trick-and-treat alone that night and how it shattered his family, how his father blames him and hasn't looked at him the same way since, how he joined the DPD to find him and how he waited all these years for the moment to get justice. Freeman claims that the police have no evidence against him, but Redbird counters that they have the semen sample from Kelly's rape kit, and how his sickle cell anemia and previous residence in Redbird's old neighborhood lead them to find out he was the one who took Tanya. He says what Freeman did to Tanya not only affected her life, but those of their family, and demands to how many children and families he has shattered with his actions, just as Drake, Ruiz, Andrea, Whitlock, Sykes and Lincoln arrive. Freeman claims that his victims all deserved it, especially the girl he currently had. Sykes and Drake advise Redbird to stop before he does something he will regret. But to their surprise, Redbird turns Freeman around and handcuffs him, telling him he is under arrest for multiple counts of kidnapping and rape and Mirandizing him. Whitlock tells Redbird that they found the girl he rescued and the Forensics Unit is processing the scene for evidence as they speak.

At the FJU HQ, Forensics revealed that Freeman had raped two dozen girls in the last 20 years around Colorado, southern Wyoming, eastern Utah, western Kansas, northern New Mexico, southeastern Nebraska and parts of Arizona, Oklahoma, and Texas. Redbird asks if any of them occurred before Tanya and Pearce reveals that a few of them did occurred before her. Although none of them could identify Freeman's face, some of them did identified his voice. Fleiss interviews and assesses Freeman, who makes an admission as to why he went after the girls: growing up, Freeman was pathologically jealous of his younger sister Darla, who always seemed to get more their parents' attention; this only increased when she was 8 and he was 11, when she was revealed to be a genius and he was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. From then, his parents saw Darla as their pride and joy and him and nothing more than a burden. As an adult, Freeman projected his hatred for his sister onto the girls that he raped, with his always going after 8-and 9-year-olds as he felt that was the age Darla was when she "ruined his life"; the most recent girl he was found with was none other than his own niece and Darla's daughter Leslie, with him having planned to rape her as his way of taking revenge on her mother. Katherine and Saxe want to prosecute Freeman personally, and Redbird suggests to his family that Tanya should testify against him. Nora agrees, but Floyd is vehemently against it, feeling that the family has been through enough. Redbird strongly argues that her story needs to be told and the family has been holding it in long enough; having explain that to his father really upsets him greatly. Nora tries to persuade Floyd, but he refuses to hear it. Redbird stands up to his father, calling him out for his hypocrisy in whining about never getting justice, and then running from the chance for it when it finally arrives. Upon seeing nobody with siding him, Floyd storms upstairs. At trial, with Judge Pratt presiding and Zach as Freeman's lawyer, many rape victims, including Tanya, testify against Freeman as character witness. During Tanya's testimony, Floyd, angered at her publicly telling the story about her and Redbird's argument with her father before her abduction, leaves the courtroom. Zach tries to question whether or not Tanya's memories are reliable, but she is able to firmly testify that she remembers everything that happened to her. He also cross-examines Redbird, questioning his motivations, bringing up his temper problem and demotion and accusing him of railroading Freeman for revenge, but Redbird holds solid in his testimony. After deliberations, the jury finds Freeman guilty of his crimes in Colorado, and Pratt rules that Freeman will be tried in federal court for his other crimes out of state.

During the case, Ruiz checks with Pearce and asks how Sonya is doing. Pearce replies that she is doing better and then asks about how he is after the dog attack. Ruiz admits he still has some nightmares and sometimes is a little sleepless, but is working on it with Erica's help. Then they talk about their own traumas from what they endured recently and how their families have been affected by them. Pearce says that she knew her job had some hardships, considering how she endured sexism, racism and homophobia since her rookie days, but she's always persevered. Ruiz reveals that he's been through the ringer himself: he childhood was rough, especially after his father abandoned the family and his mother's bipolar depression got so bad that he and his siblings have bounced around from one relative after another, but he was able to push through and make something good of himself. He feels confident that if he and Pearce can get through those experiences, then they can get through this; Pearce agrees with him.

Meanwhile, Ryan arrives at Finn and Mary's school to collect the latter. Once Finn arrives outside, he and Ryan both waited for Mary, but she fails to appear. After a long while, they head into the school and search around. Then they speak to Mary's study hall teacher Mrs. Cryder, who informs them Mary didn't show up for final period which isn't like her. Another student named Noah McCabe overhears the conversation and informs Finn and Ryan that he saw Mary hanging around outside the gate, seemly spying on Scott Wesker and another girl who were leaving the school grounds; Noah confirms the girl wasn't Dawn. Finn asks Noah why Mary was spying on Wesker, but he isn't sure and warns Finn that Scott is bad news. As Noah heads off, Finn calls Danielle and tells her about Mary but Danielle then tells Finn that Piper failed to come home after school even though she's supposed to be grounded, and is worried about her sister's wellbeing. Finn reveals Mary was spying on Scott and another girl who wasn't Dawn. Danielle is worried that Piper is spending time with a juvenile gang, but Finn tries to reassure her worries and tells her to stay at home unless Piper turns up, which Danielle agrees with. He promises her that he will keep an eye for Piper too. Later, Ryan and Finn search around the streets for Mary. Finn is worried about telling his parents about her going AWOL, but Ryan believe they shouldn't tell Drake and Katherine yet because they are dealing with a case and they don't want to distract them. Ryan and Finn decide to split up to cover more ground as they continue their search for Mary. After a long search, Ryan finds her spying on Scott Wesker and the girl, who is revealed to be Piper; he informs Finn about this via phone. Finn tells him to get Mary back as Scott Wesker is a juvenile gang leader. Upon hearing this, Ryan immediately agrees and walks over to where Mary is, suddenly getting her attention. Mary is shocked to see her grandfather, and Ryan scolds her for disappearing like she did. Mary reveals that she earlier saw Wesker speaking with Piper outside of school grounds and they mentioned Piper's involvement in the vandalism of the HOCED Foundation with the Hyena's approval. Ryan is shocked by this, but remains disappointed in his granddaughter for skipping the final period of school. Mary acknowledges this, but shows Ryan that she recorded the video of the conversation between Wesker and Piper. Ryan tells her that they will show it to Drake, Katherine, and the Donnell family later as they have to get back to school and explain what's going on.

As they were on their way back, they encountered Piper. Mary gives Ryan her cell phone, then walks over and confronts Piper about her vandalism of her mother's foundation. Piper tries to deny it, but Mary reveals she overheard her and Wesker talking about it, and recorded their conversation. Piper accuses Mary of being a spy and shoves her, prompting Mary top shove her back. As the argument becomes physical, Ryan tries to break the girls up, but Piper indirectly shoves him, causing him to fall and sprain his ankle. Mary pushes Piper down in response and rushes to her grandfather. As Piper runs off, Mary calls 9-1-1 about her grandfather's injury. Ryan, knowing that his family will inevitably learn about his liver cancer now, reveals it to Mary, and that he was diagnosed with it less than a month prior, which ultimately shocks her. Finn, having seen what's going on, comes by, and Mary reveals what happened. Then, both she and Ryan reveal the latter's cancer to Finn, which dismays him and makes him upset at his grandfather for not revealing it sooner. Later, Peter and Clayton arrive and assess his ankle, Ryan informs them about his cancer; they acknowledge this as they load him up to the ambulance. After Freeman is found guilty, Drake and Katherine get the call about Ryan's injury and rush to Denver Memorial. Once they arrive, Mary reveals her altercation with Piper, and how Ryan tried to break it up when Piper indirectly injured him. She then shows them the video of Piper and Wesker, which shocks them. But Finn says that Ryan has a secret that he was keeping from them and they only found out about it at the time, adding it's best they hear it from him. Drake and Katherine then enter in the room where Boyle, Darko and Kim tend to Ryan. Drake demands to know his father's secret, and Ryan reveals he has liver cancer and was diagnosed around a month before. Both Drake and Katherine are dismayed, and Drake asks if Jenny knows about it; Ryan confirms she does and he asked her not to tell them, as he wanted to be the one to do it. Drake walks away and lets out a short, frustrating scream, upset that his father has cancer. Katherine comes over and the two embrace in comfort. Elsewhere, Danielle tracks down a shaken Piper hiding on the streets; she tells Danielle about her altercation with Mary and Ryan getting injured. Piper is worried that she may have seriously hurt Ryan or worse, but Danielle promise Piper that he is fine. Piper is furious about what happened and blames Mary for whole incident. Danielle tries to defend Mary, but Piper reveals she was following her, and brands her as a "stalker". Danielle tries to convince Piper that Mary was worried about her just like the rest of their family, but Piper refuses to believe this; Danielle maintains that it's the truth, and promises Piper that she will never stop caring for her and that she and their family will help her through this time. Piper, however, silently walks off but Danielle follows her and tells Piper that she won't turn her back away despite their recent issues. But Piper made it to a bus before Danielle can make it. She looks on, worrying about what is going to happen to her sister.

At the FJU HQ, Redbird finishes his debrief and starts to file away the case. Sykes comes over to congratulate him on keeping hiss temper in check and properly apprehending Freeman, even in spite of everything. Redbird admits he wanted so badly to beat Freeman up for what he did to Tanya and all the other victims, but knew that if he did, it would destroy any chance of them getting justice and he would be kicked off the force. Sykes notes that he has come a long way in dealing with his demons, and Redbird expresses hope that he, Tanya, and the rest of his family can finally put the whole thing behind them once and for all. Then he sees Darla and Leslie approaching; they thank him for saving the latter while the former apologizes to what her brother did to his sister. Redbird assures Darla she is not to blame for her brother's crimes. Then he sees his family showing up, including his uncle. Tanya remarks that she is glad that she has finally got justice and Cutter congratulates his nephew on finally putting his anger aside to arrest Freeman. Nora, however, reveals that Floyd is not coming and that he packed up and moved out the house. When Redbird asks why, Nora says that Floyd feels that Redbird compelling Tanya to testify about her rape and make it public record has brought shame to the family again, just like 20 years ago when Tanya was attacked; even Freeman's conviction isn't enough to persuade him otherwise. Redbird is upset by this, but decides to put it aside for the time being, and introduce his family to Darla and Leslie. He refers the HOCED Foundation to them to help heal from their ordeal and later passed a referral along to Kelly and her family also.

At the end, Ruiz and Pearce hang out at Amanda's, chatting about their lives. Danielle solemnly watches Piper sleep in her bed. When Andrea arrives, she informs her mother about Piper's recent actions and shows Mary's video of her with Wesker; Andrea is saddened see how far her daughter has fallen. Danielle then notices Mary is trying to call her, but she declines the call and continues to focus on Piper. Redbird takes Darla and Leslie to the HOCED Foundation and introduces her personally to Katherine and Robin Neely. He's also harbors anger at Floyd for leaving the family over him bringing up the past. At the Sullivan house, Mary feels guilty about what happened to Ryan while alone in her room, and Finn looks out his window while pondering over his grandfather's secret. Meanwhile, Drake and Katherine are alone in the living room, deep in thought about Ryan's diagnosis. And Ryan, after having his ankle splinted, rests in his hospital bed, thinking about how his family now knows about his cancer and contemplating on what to do next.

#19 - "What Lies Inbetween"

Two weeks after the events of the last episode, Drake, Katherine and their children remain slightly shaken after discovering Ryan's cancer. Ryan assures them that he will fight, but no matter what happens, whether he beats it or not, he will accept the outcome of his battle of cancer, knowing he has to face his own mortality. Drake somberly says that he is not ready to lose his father and Ryan states that nobody is ready for anything like this, like what happened with Rachel when she had lung cancer and eventually died. Katherine admits that she feels like she's about to lose another father. Ryan admits that he sees Katherine like a daughter, reminds her that nobody lives forever and he has to accept his possible death; he further says that he knows what he's in for during his fight, like Rachel did. Then Raina come over to visit; noticing the odd atmosphere in the house, she asks what's going on. Ryan reveals that he has Stage 2 liver cancer, which shocks Raina and expresses her sympathies to him and the rest of the family. Then she reveals that Nadia is coming over, adding that something happened at her college campus.

After a short while, Nadia arrives at the Sullivan house. Upon learning of Ryan's cancer, she is shocked to hear of it; Ryan tells her that it is what it is. Katherine asks why she came all the way down from Colorado University to see them. Nadia reveals a friend and fellow student of hers, Ashleigh Wheldon, died under suspicious circumstances. She says that Ashleigh had been troubled over something that she wouldn't talk about; she eventually told Nadia of theirs that everyone would know the horrible truth soon. The next day, her roommate found her dead in their dorm room. The campus and local police both ruled it an accidental overdose, but Nadia reveals that she doesn't believe the ruling on Ashleigh's death, knowing that she would never use drugs because she had a cousin who died from drug addiction and she even turned a former friend in to the police for dealing. She believes there is corruption the University Police Department and because of that, she doesn't trust Boulder PD right now. Drake does agree that there is something does seem suspicious about what happened to Ashleigh, but is it out of their jurisdiction. Nadia admits while it is true, that didn't stop them from investigating the Aspen toxic waste dumping case in the past. With that in mind, Drake and Katherine agree to investigate.

Meanwhile in the next day, Finn and Mary bumps into Danielle at school. Finn is annoyed that Danielle has been ghosting him for the past two weeks, but she tells him that she has been spending time with Piper in an effort to get through to her; their family has also been keeping a close eye on her since what happened with Ryan. When Mary asks Danielle about Piper, Danielle refuses to answer her as she is still upset with Mary for going behind her back and confronting Piper. Mary tries to argue back that she saw Piper going with Wesker and she felt like she had to check them out, which confirmed that Piper did vandalize the HOCED Foundation under Wesker's direction. She also reminds Danielle that Piper was responsible for putting Ryan in hospital, but Danielle snaps at Mary and tells her that it was just as much her fault because she got him involved in her confrontation with Piper. As Danielle storms off angrily, Mary is upset at her outburst, but Finn suggests she give Danielle some space and promises his sister that he will speak to her when she calms down.

Back in the FJU, Holmes and Ellis speak to the FJU about the leads they found in their search for the fugitives. They reveal that one of the fugitives from Colorado State Police case who escaped with Fitzgerald and the others has recently posed a promising lead: Miguel Jiménez, who killed four people in Steamboat Springs during an robbery, was spotted three weeks prior purchasing weapons from a dealer at Clear Creek County. Lincoln asks what kind of weapons and Holmes reveals it consists of machine guns, rifles, shotguns, pistols, bullets and shotgun shells. He also adds that some of the bullets Jiménez brought are armor-piercing, which dismays the FJU. Ruiz hopes that they can find something more to get closer to the remaining fugitives. Saxe then comes in and asks for updates, and Pearce and Ellis inform him of the recent findings. As Holmes and Ellis head out, Saxe asks Pearce and Ruiz how they are doing; they explain they're still taking things one day at a time. Saxe remince his past tragedies and how they shaped his life, and tells them that he's there for them if they need him.

In Boulder, Drake and Katherine arrive at Colorado University, and visit the campus police office to ask about Ashleigh. The campus's lead investigator, Wyatt Dane, claims that he went through that dorm room top and bottom and doesn't believe foul play is involved. Katherine informs him that multiple friends of Ashleigh's have attested that she would never use drugs, but Dane suggest that maybe they just didn't know her as well as they thought they did. Noticing that Dane has been evasive about the case and their questions, Drake begins to believe something about him doesn't feel right. Katherine decides to talk to the Dean of Students, Richard Wilde about Ashleigh. Wilde says that he knew Ashleigh and that she is the last person who would do drugs because of her experience with her cousin and former friend. Katherine asks if he agrees about her death being ruled an accidental overdose and Wilde doesn't think so. Drake asks about Dane, and Wilde says that Dane may have a polite exterior, but he is known to be tough and mean as a rattlesnake when crossed and suspects he might be corrupt. Drake and Katherine acknowledge Wilde before heading out. Another campus officer, Robert Grossman, overhears the conversation and informs Dane, who tells him he will notify their boss about the trouble in their midst.

Drake and Katherine question Ashleigh's parents. Her father John mentions on their last phone call that she mentioned that she had discovered something horrible happening on the campus, and certain members of campus police are involved. He further says that she also revealed someone in the school's higher-ups is involved, but didn't know any further than that. Drake suspects Dane is one of the officers involved in whatever is going on. As they leave, Dane sees the Sullivans heading to their car. He contacts his boss, who wants him and the others to ensure they are taken care of. One of Ashleigh's friends, Michelle Sutherland, meets up with Drake and Katherine at Fiske Planetarium. She reveals a horrifying secret about what Ashleigh discovered involving certain campus officers and others in secret: a prostitution ring involving mostly impoverished students in the school's work-study program. Michelle names a few students that were caught in the ring, and reveals her friend Kristen Weaver was one of the victims and was threatened by two campus police officers, Dane and Grossman, not to reveal to anyone about it. Nadia arrives and tells them she found something Ashleigh hid: a laptop with a video of her on it and a flash drive. On the video Ashleigh reveals that she intends to blow the whistle on the prostitution ring inside the campus, revealing that the ring is headed by Vice-Chair Roy Bedford, along with others she found that are involved, including Dane and Grossman. She notes that she has photo, audio, and video evidence on the flash drive, and is making the message in case anything bad happens to her, so that the evidence can be brought to the proper authorities. She finishes the message telling her parents that she loves them in case anything did happen to her.

With that, Drake and Katherine access the flash drive and find plenty of evidence incriminating Bedford and the others; the levity of proof utterly shocks Nadia and Michelle. They show the evidence to Wilde at his office and he is so appalled by it, that he immediately sends the evidence to his friend in the FBI Denver Office. As they head out, they see Dane and Grossman coming their way. Drake quickly gets out of sight while Katherine quickly ushers Nadia and Michelle to another part of the office to hide. As the Sullivans wait, Dane and Grossman enter the office, and the former demands they hand over evidence they got. When they refused, Dane draws his gun on Katherine, but Drake shoots him in the shoulder with his off-duty pistol. Before Grossman can draw his weapon, Katherine takes out hers and aims at Grossman, ordering him not to move as Drake secures both of the dirty officers. Later on, the FBI arrives and arrests Bedford, Dane, Grossman and all the others involved in the ring, with Wilde revealing that he and the university will cooperate fully with the FBI; he thanks Drake and Katherine for exposing the ring. Nadia says that it's what family is for.

At the HOCED Foundation, Finn is in the kitchen, teaching volunteers on how to make a salad. Danielle then comes in and Finn sees her. Noticing her concerned look, Finn asks if she's okay. Danielle reveals that Piper ran away the night before and her entire family is out looking for her and trying to find out if she's with the Hyenas right now, but the gang proves to be hard to find. After a moment, Danielle apologizes for not having been around for the past two weeks and for how she's been with Mary. Finn gets where she's coming from, but notes Mary saw Piper with Wesker and she recorded it as confirmation. Danielle understands this, but is still upset with Mary for going behind her family's back. She then asks where Mary is and Finn reveals that she is with Simon, and she feels bad over recent events, especially after what happened with Ryan and learning about his cancer, which Danielle reveals she heard about as she expresses her sympathies and embraces him in comfort. Then they notice a young girl, Lisa Grey, alone in one of the rooms and checks in on her. Finn and Danielle remember Lisa and her mother Shelby were a victim of a kidnapping by a homicidal fugitive, who forced Shelby to get money for Lisa's life, but patrol officers spotted the car and saved them. They console her about, as they reveal how they felt when Mary was abducted three years prior by the followers of the Mile High Slasher. They remind her the best way to move forward is to talk about it with others. As Lisa returns to the area where the other kids are at, Finn and Danielle look on and share affectionate glances at each other as they hold hands.

At the Jenkins house, Mary helps Cheryl out with the dishes. Cheryl notes her appreciation for Mary's help, which Mary thanks her for. Cheryl asks Mary if she's okay. Mary admits she feels down over her grandfather's cancer diagnosis and her altercation with Piper. Simon assures her that she is not to blame for all that and he admits that when his father was still in his life, he blamed himself for not standing up to Ray sooner and for putting up with his abuse for years. Cheryl adds that Ray's violence towards her and Simon got worse every day, and when she saw that he was running a sweatshop, she finally decided to leave him; she underestimated just how desperate he would be to get them, or at least just Simon, back. Mary assures the Jenkins' that she and her parents are glad to help them out at the end. She also reveals that, coming from a law enforcement family, she knows certain things about their jobs, but at times, she can still be surprised about how horrible people can be. Simon says she only did what she thought was right, which Mary silently acknowledges. At Denver Memorial, Ryan speaks to Ripley about his treatment options. Ripley notes that the cancer is localized, though it has shown signs of potentially spreading. She lists the options of surgery, in which they'll do their best to remove it all at once, or chemotherapy and radiation, which will take longer. Ryan asks the risks of surgery, and Ripley responds that they might not get all of the cancer in one go, and as with any surgery, there's always the risk of post-op complications. Ryan replies he will have to talk it over with his family first.

Back in the FJU, Whitlock reveals to Sykes that there will be a custody hearing regarding his children in five days as his divorce from Monique is proceeding. Sykes asks if he's okay, and Whitlock admits he thought leaving the bomb squad would fix his marriage, but it didn't. Sykes wishes him the best of luck at the hearing. Lincoln sees Cohen coming over with Saxe, and she says he and Quelling are heading to Amanda's for drinks, and asks if they should join them. Lincoln declines, citing that his son is with him this week and he wants to stay in and spend time with him. Cohen understands and the two leave, while Saxe goes to Ruiz and Pearce in the lounge; they discuss with him how they've been moving on from their respective traumas. Saxe notes that he's glad they found healthy ways of moving forwards. At Amanda's, Ryan speaks with Peake, who remembers how he was the judge in some of his past cases. Ryan secretly consults with him about which cancer treatment is the best since Peake's father died of cancer, and mentions how his own father and his wife both died from it. Peake asks if his family knows about it and he confirms they do. After a moment, Peake advises him that he might end up doing both: first the surgery to get rid of most of the cancer, and then chemo and radiation to deal with the rest. Ryan remains thought over what Peake has told him. Elsewhere Cohen and Quelling chat with Redbird on how he was able to keep his temper in check when he arrested Freeman for his sister's rape, along with those of the other girls. Redbird admits he wanted to hurt him hard, but knew if he went too far like he did before, he'd lose his career and justice for Tanya and the other girls would be denied. But it also came at a price: his father, unable to deal with all the old shame and humiliation after all those years, left the family and is likely filing for divorce. Mary arrives and Cohen greets her and asks if she's okay. Mary says that she has been a little off since her confrontation with Piper and finding out Ryan's cancer diagnosis, which Cohen has already heard. Then Finn and Danielle arrive and Mary sees them smiling and holding hands as they enter the game room. She reluctantly enters the room and sees them playing air hockey. When they see her, they welcome her in. Danielle admits she is still a little upset with her for going behind her back over Piper, but apologizes to her for her outburst. Mary accepts it and notes that maybe she should've looped her in about her sister beforehand. Then Drake and Katherine arrive. Ryan asks about the case and Drake reveals that the FBI has shut down the prostitution ring at the university and they've taken the case from there. Ryan inform them what Ripley and Peake told him about his treatment options and Drake says that they'll discuss more about it when they get home. Just then, Finn and Danielle come in, having finished their air hockey game, and Drake asks Danielle if they found Piper yet. She replies there hasn't been any sign of her. Katherine then informs Finn and Mary it's time to go home. They drop Danielle at her home on the way, since she has to watch over Madison. Finn tells her to keep him informed, which Danielle acknowledges to him with a quick peck on the cheek.

At the end, as everyone returns home, Raina is revealed to be watching the twins. She says that she fed Cody and took care of the twins. After Raina left, Ryan tells them more about the treatment options. With that, everyone starts chatting more about how to treat Ryan's cancer. Lincoln and Cohen spend time at home with John Jr., while Redbird goes home to his mother, who is still struggling with her husband's departure. And Andrea and Dunnigan keep close to their phones waiting on any news about Piper's whereabouts.

#20 - "Pied Piper"

At Denver Memorial, Drake and Katherine help Ryan prepare for an MRI to see how his cancer can be removed by surgery. Lydia arrives to help out her father; she says that Owen and their children are hoping and praying for the best. Drake also reveals that Nathan and his and Amanda's sons are in the know as well, and are also praying for him. Ryan tells them that he knows he has to face his mortality no matter what the outcome is. Ripley then enters, says that they are ready for his MRI; and escorts Ryan to the room. Lydia asks Drake and Katherine where their children are and Drake says that they are at home, being watched over by the Jenkins, and Danielle is with them too. Drake reveals that Raina is with Nadia in Colorado University at the moment. Katherine asks if there's been any updates on Piper and Drake replies not since she ran off six days ago, and was seen with Wesker, Volker and the other Hyenas in an alley behind a liquor store two nights before. At the Sullivan house, Mary and Simon play a video racing game while Cheryl cares for D.J. and Arby. Cody is shown laying down next to Mary and Simon. Cheryl asks where Finn and Danielle are and Mary replies that they are in the basement practicing basic survival skills. She adds that after she was kidnapped, Drake and Katherine decided it was time for them to pass their survival training and fighting skills to their children. Cheryl notes that she heard how Drake and Katherine encountered many certain dangerous people and situations like John Fitzgerald, the Russian Mob, the conspiracy in Aspen, Norman Brewer and of course Ray. Mary adds that through all that, she has learned to how to resolve and persevere with anything. Simon says that she and Finn have got the best parents around. In the basement, Finn and Danielle do a little sparring practice, then moves to various fighting bags. Afterwards, they sit down and Finn asks Danielle if she's okay. Danielle replies as well as she can be at the current point and is still worried about Piper being with the Hyenas. Finn says that everyone is doing whatever they can to find her, which Danielle is aware of. She reveals that Andrea is barely sleeping, Chris is frustrated by the whole situation, T.J. and Audrey are worried for everyone, and Dunnigan is trying to keep it all together; she adds that she didn't know where else to go to calm herself down. Finn notes that he's glad she came to him when she did.

At a courthouse, Whitlock and Monique have their custody hearing, with the latter wanting primary custody of their children. She cites the dangers and long hours of her husband's job as the reasons she should get primary custody. Whitlock, however, notes that he transferred from the bomb squad and has been working more flexible hours to be there for his children. Back at Denver Memorial, Crowe checks on Drake and Katherine and asks them about Ryan; Drake says that they are still running tests and exams on him. Crowe tells them to wish him the best of luck from her before returning to work. Then Drake gets a call from Pearce, who reveals that there's been a shooting at a house where is a drug stash and a boy got caught in the crossfire; Payne has assigned the FJU to investigate the case. Drake tells Katherine that the unit caught a case and he has to go. She tells him to be careful and he promises he will as he leaves.

At the house, Drake arrives and Ruiz reveals the boy, nine-year-old Duane Mauldin, was shot in the chest during a shootout that occurred throughout the house, which is revealed to be being used as a stashhouse for drugs, and probably got hit during crossfire. Lincoln reveals a couple of drug dealers admit that they engaged in the shootout with a juvenile gang which, from what they describe of them, resembles the Hyenas; this shocks Drake, due to knowing that Piper is with them. Redbird reveals that they've confirmed from footage from a neighbor's doorbell camera at the other street, that Wesker, Volker and other Hyenas arrived in two cars. Drake asks if Piper was with them, and Redbird reluctantly informs him that Piper was in one of the cars and never left. Andrea arrives, distressed upon hearing the Hyenas are involved. She asks any of her colleagues if Piper is involved, and Redbird somberly reveal that Piper stayed in one of the cars, but never got out. Andrea becomes more frantic by that and through on her fist at the wall once, wondering what she did to fail Piper. Sykes arrives and tells Andrea that she is not working on the case. Andrea tries to protest this, but Sykes tells her to go back to the unit and they will update her on whatever they find. Sykes observes the doorbell cam footage and sees the following: The Hyenas pulled up the opposite street and went towards the back of the house. They were prepared to break in, but the dealers saw them and opened fire, kicking off the shootout, and one of the bullets from one of the Hyena's guns passed through a door and hit Duane by mistake. Afterwards, they decided to abort the attack, ran back to their cars, and sped off.

At the custody hearing, Monique's lawyer argues on how Whitlock has also worked long hours on the FJU; Whitlock's counters it's mainly because of the ongoing case involving the fugitives, which has taken up a lot of the FJU's time and resources. Then Monique's brings up his bomb squad days, including how he and the others made a miscalculation on the field when a bomb killed two of his men. Whitlock notes that that's another reason he chose to leave the bomb squad for a less-risky position. Meanwhile, at Denver Memorial, Katherine and Lydia see Drake coming in and the former, having heard about the Hyenas' recent crime, asks about Piper. Drake reveals what occurred over at the house and that Kingston, Gene, Kira and Cunningham are working on Duane now. Lydia hopes none of her children will becomes that rebellious. Ryan comes to the waiting room with Ripley, and Drake fills him in; he expresses hope for Duane's recovery. Ripley then reveals that they have determined a combination of surgery and chemo and radiation to treat the cancer. At the Sullivan house, Danielle helps Mary with the twins while Finn and Cheryl cook dinner. Then Danielle gets a call from Audrey about Piper's involvement in the Hyenas' recent crime. She becomes is upset, as Audrey informs her that their family will update her if anything comes up; Danielle thanks her half-sister for the information. When asked about what's going on, she reveals to Finn and Mary that Piper was indirectly involved one of Hyenas' crimes and a boy got shot by mistake. Shocked, Mary asks about the the boy, and Danielle reveals that he's in surgery, and Piper and the Hyenas are all in the wind. Finn tries to comfort Danielle, but she walks off upset. When she goes outside to be alone, Danielle is shocked when Piper suddenly turns up unannounced, scared to death about something. Danielle tries to comfort her upset sister, but Piper tells her that she is in big trouble, which confuses Danielle at first. Piper then reveals she had been hiding out at Wesker's house; he and the Hyenas had gone to make a drug deal but it went wrong and someone ended up shot. Danielle reveals that she heard about what happened and that the person shot was a nine-year-old boy; Piper is shocked beyond belief to hear this. Danielle then suggests Piper need to hands herself in to the police but Piper denied that she was involved in the shooting. Finn and Mary come out and see Piper, but before she can run, Danielle grabs ahold of her and refuses to let go. As Mary calls her father, Finn came over and help hold Piper while trying to calm her down. Both he and Danielle tell Piper that she has to tell the FJU what had happened. Piper becomes belligerent, saying that she can't snitch, nor can she go to jail. Danielle says the police have been called and she needs to talk to them about what happened, but Piper once again refuses to talk or be a rat, and tells her sister to help her disappear. Danielle, however, refuses to let her sister get in any deeper trouble than she already is. Then a patrol car arrives and Officers Thibideaux and Soto get out and inform Piper that she is under arrest. Danielle tells the officers to go easy on her since she is the member of the Donnell police family, which they acknowledge that they already got the message via her grandfather.

In the FJU's interrogation room, Fleiss speaks to Piper alone about her recent behavior and association with the Hyenas, with Andrea and much of her family, as well as Drake, Sykes and Redbird all observing. Piper, however, refuses to cooperate, citing that she was waiting in a car at the time of the shooting and was not involved, and she's not giving up her friends, citing that they're the only ones who seem to understand her. Fleiss then leaves interrogation and gives her notes about Piper to the others; her strained relationships in her own family have led her to see the Hyenas as something of a surrogate family, hence her refusal to give them up. With that in mind, Redbird and Drake decide to talk to her themselves. Despite their efforts to reach out to her and warnings that she could face accessory charges, Piper still refuses to cooperate and believes own family will not help put her in jail. Burton then gets an idea: he suggests they should take the tough love approach by having Piper spend at least two days in juvenile facility, figuring a taste of what she's facing might get through to her. Chris opposes such an idea idea on his daughter, but Andrea reluctantly agrees with her father, citing that they've tried everything else they could think of to this point. Audrey agrees with her family and states on what she endured when she got during a crossfire with two gangs, reminding them that she nearly died, and she'll do what ever is necessary to prevent her sister from getting in any deeper with the Hyenas than she already is. With that, the Donnell family agrees to place Piper in a juvenile facility for two days, and tells the officers to take her there and process her in. Upon learning of this, Piper reacts with utter shock and disbelief as the officers handcuff her and take her away, with her pleading with her family for help.

During the case, Whitlock returns to the FJU. Sykes asks how the custody hearing went and he replies that the judge will decide the next day. Then Holmes comes to visit the FJU. He reveals that he and the rest of the task force has mostly dried up on leads on the remaining fugitives and their collaborators, but figures that that's not a good thing. Drake and Sykes suspect they are close on following their endgame, and Whitlock believes that with the money and cryptocurrency they got, they maybe planning something big and ugly against the FJU and all their allies. Francis says that he is monitoring their known financial activities and nothing has turned up; he suspects Rose may be using some program to avoid detection from authorities. Drake says that, other than the collaborators and hired thugs, the remaining fugitives are Fitzgerald, Frye, Dressler, Jiménez and Vince Robertson, a former mountain man who murdered a couple when they parked their RV on his former property. Holmes says that Robertson knows the mountains like the back of his head and is probably helping the fugitives avoid detection in the mountains with his knowledge of the area.

The next day, at the Sullivan house, Ryan informs everyone that his surgery to remove most of the cancer will likely prevent it from spreading from other parts of his body and chemo and radiation will hopefully get rid of the rest. Lydia hopes it will help him live a little longer. Ryan hopes so too, but notes that that he will have to accept his mortality no matter what happens; Drake somberly understands this. Mary asks if they found the Hyenas yet, and Drake replies not yet, as they are still searching. Then Bridget and Jenny arrive and greet everyone. Lydia is happy to see her aunt, and Bridget asks her brother how's he doing and Ryan says he's been better, but doing okay for the moment. Jenny admits to Drake and Katherine that she wanted to tell them about Ryan's cancer, but Ryan told her not to as he wanted to be the one to do so; the two acknowledge that they understand this. At the courthouse, Whitlock and Monique arrive, along with Devon and Olivia. The judge makes a decision about the custody of their children: joint custody, with the kids staying with their mother during the week and their father on the weekends. Back in the Sullivan house, Katherine reveals that Joey and his family will be coming by for a visit in several days. Drake acknowledges this, citing that it will be good to see them. Then he reveals Duane is in the ICU, still touch and go; Katherine hopes for the best for him. Finn asks about Piper and Drake reveals that she is still in juvenile hall. Finn says notes Danielle is still upset about Piper's indirect involvement in the shooting, and hopes that Piper will come to her senses about her so-called "friends". At the Donnell house, Andrea distresses over failing Piper as mother. Dunnigan assures her it's not her fault. T.J. guesses that between Andrea and his dad paying more attention to Madison, Audrey being busy with her career, Danielle being pre-occupied with her and Finn's relationship, and him being busy with his own friend group, Piper has been feeling like the odd one out in her family, hence her rebellion.

The next day at the FJU HQ, Andrea is anxious to see how Piper's time in juvie has affected her, if at all. Connor then enters and informs his sister and the others that Piper has been released from the facility and is being brought to the unit. As Piper is brought back to the FJU, she states that she doesn't want to go back to juvie after everything she what she saw and experienced inside. She asks her mother about Duane and Andrea reveals that he is close to waking up and will likely pull through. With everything she witnessed and endured in the facility, Piper agrees to testify against the Hyenas. She reveals that the plan to rob the stash house was Wesker's and Volker and another Hyena were the ones with guns. She heard that Volker was the one who fired the first shot. She gives them the locations of some of the hangouts the Hyenas used for their safehouses and stash houses, as well as both Wesker and Volker's residences. With this information, Katherine and Saxe get arrest warrants for the Hyenas. They have Cohen and Quelling accompany the FJU with arrest the Hyenas. With Cohen and Quelling's help, the FJU raid the locations, arresting Wesker, Volker and the other Hyenas. As the gang members are taken to processing, Wesker sees Piper and realizes that it was her who snitched on them. He and Volker swear that they will get revenge, but Andrea, Burton, Maggie and Michael threaten that if they retaliate against her, they will go after them with every bit of manpower they got and ensure that they will live in fear for the rest of their lives, which unnerves them. Several gang members later agreed to testify for shorter sentences. Whitlock then reveals to Andrea that the ballistics on Volker's gun match the bullet that hit Duane and Wesker fired shots too. Andrea reveals that Duane has finally woke up in the hospital, much to his family's relief. Whitlock says that since Piper had no direct involvement and has cooperated with police, she will likely get nothing more than probation and community service. Andrea admits to Whitlock that she tried to spend whatever time she could with Piper, but realizes that, with the manhunt of the fugitives and her other family members occupied with their own lives, she ended up becoming rebellious and she needs more help than what her family can give her. Whitlock notes that parents often have to make hard decisions to help their children's well-being and that if she can't help Piper with her issues, then she has to make a choice that will ensure Piper doesn't continue down the wrong path; he notes that he did the same thing during his custody hearing of his children so they wouldn't have to go through a bitter custody battle between him and Monique. As Whitlock leaves, Andrea looks at Piper at the room. After a moment, she turns to Burton, stating that she needs his help for Piper's sake.

Meanwhile, Katherine and Saxe tell Peake about the case against the Hyenas; he remarks that the trials and plea bargains should put the entire gang out of commission. Then he reveals that the governor sign off on setting up a multi-agency task force to track down the remaining fugitives and their collaborators. Saxe acknowledges this, hoping that the mass agency cooperation will help finally bring them down. Katherine wonders what the fugitives are up to, citing they are likely close to their endgame with their vendetta against the FJU and others. Peake agrees that there is likely some kind of plot against them in the works and tells the two to tread lightly and stay safe. Katherine then heads out to pick up Joey and his family. At the Sullivan house, Ryan says his surgery is scheduled in four days and Finn expresses hopes it will be successful enough to remove the majority of his cancer. Ryan notes that the operation has risks, which Drake understands. Ryan reveals that he has also made his last will and testament for his family just in case anything happens to him. Lydia says that she's sticking around until after his surgery and Owen and their children hope for the best. She also figures if Amanda were still here, she'd also stick around until then. Drake also notes that Amanda's widower Nathan and their sons wish him the best as well. At Denver International Airport, Katherine wait in the arrivals section. She then spots Joey walking to the baggage claim with Sarah, who is holding baby Christian. She reunites with her brother and his wife and happily introduces herself to her baby nephew as she holds him. Joey notes that it's about time they finally got to visit again, and asks how Ryan is doing with his cancer treatments; Katherine replies that he's going to undergo surgery in about four days. With that, she helps them collect their baggage and then escorts them out of the airport and to her car.

The next day, Andrea and Chris, along with Audrey, Danielle, Joseph and Connor, take Piper to the New Path Academy for Troubled Youth outside of Denver, thanks to Burton's recommendation. Andrea tells her daughter that she came dangerously close to screwing up her whole life, and they feel that some time away and at this school will do some good. Piper then asks why they're abandoning her, and Connor assures they're not, and she'll get visits from at least one family member twice a week. Chris notes that while they are all sorry they made Piper feel so neglected, she needs to understand that it still gave her no right to hurt other people like she did, and hopefully once she gets through the program, she can truly start to make amends for her actions. Danielle reminds her sister that she needs to understand all the wrongs that she did and that in order to redeem herself, she must learn from her mistakes and to not repeat them. Audrey notes that she made her own mistakes in the past and learned how to face up to them, but assures her that her family will still have her back. Joseph adds that the Donnell family always has each others backs as both officers of the law and as family, which is why they are making sure she gets the help she needs. After a moment, Piper, realizing that she needs to help herself, agrees to go to the school. With that, they check her in and head back out.

At the end, Peake, Sykes and Smith reveal to everyone the task force is all set up and the FJU and the D.A. Office will join the U.S. Marshals, Cold Case, BMCU, Vice, Major Crimes, Colorado State Police and a few FBI agents to help find Fitzgerald, the other remaining fugitives and their collaborators. With that, everyone on the task force gets to work to to track down the elusive fugitives. At the Sullivan house, Joey and his family get acquainted with Drake's extended family. Ryan says that the rest of his family will be in Denver to support him. Joey asks if they can trust the doctors in Denver Memorial and Drake assures that they are the best doctors in Denver, and they've been a big help to them on multiple occasions. Ryan says that Ripley maybe young, but she has dealt with cancer patients before, comes from a family of doctors and had a family member who suffered from it. Mary hopes her grandfather will get good surgeons who can remove the cancerous cells carefully and Lydia feels the same way. Ryan says that they should have nothing to worry about. Joey says that he just published his latest novel, Strangers Out of Moscow, which is based on the Sullivans' encounter with the Russian Mob, which Katherine heard; she's flattered that Joey used her and Drake as muses. Whitlock, after a moment, signs his divorce papers at his home. And finally, Andrea comes home with a lot of her mind and is consoled by Dunnigan, Danielle and T.J. over her decision with to send Piper away to school. Then she holds Madison in her arms, wanting to spend whatever time she can with her.

#21 - "Pay For You (1)"

As the task force finds more leads in finding the remaining fugitives and their collaborators, Fitzgerald's endgame is revealed. Meanwhile, Joey and his family visits Katherine and her family. Also, Ryan copes with his treatments and Brian discovers something that leads directly to Frye.

#22 - "Pay For Me (2)"

As the search for the remaining fugitives continues, Katherine is forced to cooperate with Fitzgerald when he targets Joey and his family. While Drake and the others scramble to find them, Katherine must persevere to survive and protect her family.
