The south end of the Smelters yard

The smelting pit
The smelters yard is a large industrial complex with various buildings for scrapping and steel production. Track runs throughout the area and leads into some of the buildings. The main building is where the smelters pit is located. The smelters pit is a large pool of molten steel that glows bright orange. Right next to the main building is a scrap sight where various scrap metal is piled up along the tracks, One notable piece of scrap is an old rusty engine that has clearly been sitting there for years. In a smaller building, a metal shredder is located, with piles of shredded metal next to it.
Portrayal In The Show[]

The smelters yard at night
The smelters yard is often portrayed as a dark and foreboding place with a constant erie orange or red hew to everything, especially at night. The sky appears constantly smoggy and discolored, with it appearing red at darker hours. Fog is often seen at the smelters yard too. Going to the smelters yard is the dread of all engines as bad things often happen there. Engines always fear that they will eventually get scrapped there. One such engine was McKeen, an old motor car, who was sitting on the scrap track before being saved by Geep. The smelters yard is often claimed to be haunted due to the number of engines that have previously been scrapped there. Despite all the fear surrounding the smelters yard, it is still a major industry and as such, requires engines to visit in order to perform various jobs there.
