The Simpsons is an American adult sitcom created by Matt MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical depiction of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by its family of the same name, which consists of Homer (Paul Giamatti), Marge (Joan Cusack), Bart (Ty Simpkins), Lisa (Isabella Acres), baby Maggie (voiced by Cate Blanchett) and the family dog Brian (voiced by Seth MacFarlane). The show is set in the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island and parodies American culture, society, television, and many aspects of the human condition. Additionally, the show features many Cutaway Gags, that parodies American Culture.

The Simpsons is widely considered to be one of the greatest television series of all time. Time magazine's December 31, 2008, issue named it the 20th century's best television series, and on January 14, 2009, the Simpson family was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It has won dozens of awards since it debuted as a series, including 28 Primetime Emmy Awards, 30 Annie Awards and a Peabody Award. Homer's exclamatory catchphrase "D'oh!" has been adopted into the English language, while The Simpsons has influenced many adult-oriented animated sitcoms.

Actors

The Simpsons has six main cast members:Paul Giamatti, Joan Cusack, Ty Simpkins, Isabella Acres, Cate Blanchett and Seth MacFarlane. Giamatti performs Homer Simpson. Joan Cusack plays Marge Simpson. Simpkins performs Bart Simpson. Acres plays Lisa. Blanchett voices Maggie and MacFarlane voices the family dog Brian.  Many famous comedians and actors plays the various secondary characters. Carl Reiner plays Grandpa Abe Simpson, Charlie Sheen portrays Homer's best friend and sexual predator Glenn Quagmire. Patrick Warburton portrays Homer's crippled friend Joe Swanson, while Alice Braga plays Bonnie. Craig Robinson plays Homer's African american friend Cleveland Brown, as Tisha Hefner plays his wife Loretta Brown and Kyle Massey plays their son, Cleveland Brown, Jr. William H. Macy portrays Evergreen Terrace's Homer's neighbor Ned Flanders, an stereotyped American Jew, while Susan Sarandon plays Ned's wife Maude and Lino Facioli their son, Todd, an stereotyped Jewish-nerd. Still in the street, Malcolm McDowell portrays John Herbert, an retired ex-soldier that served in World War II and is an pedophile, interested specially in Bart. 

In the neighbor, Hank Azaria plays Moe Szyslak, owner of Moe's, the bar where Homer, Joe, Quagmire and Cleveland usually drink. Terry Crews plays Jerome, Cleveland temporary replacement, beginning in Season Ten (2010) to Season Fifteen (2015).

Aside from the main and secondary cast, The Simpsons features an group of ensemble guest cast, including comedians, scientists, celebrities, athleates, TV personalities.
