Endings[]

The Legend Rises has four endings.

Theatrical ending (The Right Way)[]

This is the default and canon ending of the film.

One week after Rayman suceeds to rob the Union Depository bank, Rayman goes to Richard for help. Rayman and Richard, at first, seem to not have any hope of thinking of a way for both Hytalo, Red, Blue and Globox to survive. But after a brainstorm, Richard comes up with a plan. They lead the FIB and Merryweather into a trap at the foundry under the pretense of melting down the gold acquired from the Union Depository heist.

Rayman, Hytalo, Red, Blue and Globox fight both the FIB’s strike team and Merryweather mercenaries. Once the FIB and Merryweather teams have all been defeated, the trio set out plans for taking down their enemies, and manage to locate them with help from Richard.

While Red and Blue go home, Rayman volunteers to kill Phil, Hytalo sets out to kill Nicolas, and Globox sets out to kill Justin Beburr.

Once Phil, Nicolas and Justin have been killed, Globox heads to Steve Taylor's heavily guarded mansion, killing Steve's security guards. He locates Steve in a chest and knocks him out, carrying him to his car and throwing him in the trunk. He phones Rayman and Hytalo, suggesting they take Steve to the countryside and "make him disappear".

The trio reunite at the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness, where they taunt a battered and beaten Steve, before pushing the car off the cliff into the sea. The car explodes in a fireball, killing Steve instantly. The three bring an end to their criminal careers, but remain as "flawed, awful, totally uncomfortable and poorly matched" friends. The three then drive off to their respective homes, before Richard sends their cuts from the Union Depository heist into their bank accounts.

NC-17 director's cut ending (Showtime)[]

Seven weeks after Rayman succeeds to rob the Union Depository bank, Rayman meets Phil in a townhouse in Vespucci Beach. They drive to Port Tudor where the deal is to take place. It turns out however that Rascalov is after his revenge. He killed the people who Rayman was supposed to make the deal with. Rayman and Phil, in the third-parties compound, decide to steal the money, with Rayman planning to kill Rascalov later.

They enter the warehouse from the roof, and find themselves in a gunfight. After killing most of the men, they make their way to the room with the money, only to see someone else escaping with it. They chase the thief down, killing him and collect their money. Rayman tries to get Phil back to Vespucci Beach, but before their arrival Phil decides to commit suicide with a chainsaw he found in the car, then after Phil's suicide, Rayman steals all Phil's $850,000,000.

European theatrical ending (A Crime's End)[]

One day after Rayman succeeds to rob the Union Depository bank, he gets a call from Blue, realizing that the Oracle hacked his messages to lead Blue astray. He helplessly watches as Blue is attacked by the leader of the Oracle. Broken, he asks the Oracle why they did all of this. They respond with a clip of him saying it was "game night".

The Oracle launches a poll to decide Rayman's fate; as they vote, he laughs, no longer caring about his own safety. In the street, the poll reaches its end before one of the Oracle members runs Rayman over. Their job complete and their crimes pinned on Rayman and his friends, the Oracle gather in front of the cameras and celebrate while Phil watches from their own camera.

Blu-Ray ending (Buried Alive)[]

Two weeks after Rayman succeeds to rob the Union Depository bank, Rayman confronts Phil and accuses him of kidnapping 24 people. Phil explains that before his wife disappeared, they abducted children as part of their "war on God" to avenge their son's death and create demons out of the traumatized parents. Alex was their first abduction, Taylor their second. He says Alex only took the kids for a ride, but Phil decided to abduct them. Holding Rayman at gunpoint, Phil drugs and imprisons him in a hidden pit in his yard, where he finds an emergency whistle belonging to his deceased son.

Steve Taylor arrives to inform Phil that Alex has been found. He enters his house and discovers a photo of his late wife wearing the same maze necklace as the corpse in Eric's basement. He concludes that Eric killed his wife after he admitted to murdering children. As he searches the house, he finds Phil ready to kill Hytalo's son, Tyrone. They shoot each other. Steve is wounded, but kills Phil. Steve rushes Tyrone to the hospital.

Alex is reunited with his parents. Tyrone return home with his family. Grace thanks Steve for all he's done, despite the knowledge that when he finds Rayman, he'll likely go to prison. Steve returns to Phil's house to supervise a forensic excavation. He halts work for the night. Alone in the driveway, Steve faintly hears a whistle blowing.
