Plot[]
Barry Allen of Fallville, Iowa is a struggling teenager who has a habit of partying hard and studying poorly.
His parents are desperate to help him reach the level his brother and sister are at.
He fails through high school and then abandons his education to run away to Central City to take up as a hand in a labatory.
He begins a relationship with beautiful labatory scientist Iris West.
One night he offers to go collect her inventory she has left at the lab one night and ultimatley becomes the "Flash" as lightning strikes into the labatory and causes him to become bathed in various chemicals.
He develops unnatural abilities which include super-speed and strength.
He withdraws from Iris which prompts her to investigate into what has happened to the man she just fallen head over heels for.
He seeks help with Paranormal Investigator Mick Rory of Central City who becomes obsessed with the abilities he witnesses Barry possess.
Mick's obsession then leads him to acquire the same chemicals which bestowed Barry with powers.
Mick foolishly takes them himself and becomes the villainous "Heat-Wave" who is desperate to acquire more & more powers.
Barry who begins to use his abilities throughout Central to help out with the crime occuring in the city and become a hero as well as patch up his flailing relationship with Iris comes to oppose Rory.
Rory's tech partner who sees the atrocities he is commiting goes and tries the chemicals upon himself becomes "Johnny Quick" who aids Barry against Rory.
However when Rory sets his sights on setting off a nuclear bomb in Barry's hometown of Fallville which will expand and take out half the continent things escalate to a whole new level.
Iris and Barry's family become targets of leverage for Rory to use against Barry and the super fast super strong hero finds that possessing the unique abilities he has comes at a terrible cost.
