Thank You Teddy is an American sitcom created by Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen which premiered on Disney Channel on February 14, 2020, and is the sequel to the 2010–2014 television series Good Luck Charlie. It centers around 12-year old Charlie Duncan as she watches the video diaries her sister Teddy made to help her "survive their special family". Each episode ends with Charlie recording a thank you message to Teddy for the respective video diary, typically after experiencing a similar event or situation as discussed in the video diary. The series also follows the rest of the Duncan family, as the entire original ensemble cast reprised their roles, with the exception of Logan Moreau as Toby Duncan, who was replaced by Roger Dale Floyd.

The series began production in September 2019 and was initially set to produce thirteen episodes over the course of its first season. Eventually, the season was expanded to twenty episodes. Disney Channel renewed the series for a second season on February 1, 2020, prior to the series premiere on February 14, 2020, which took place immediately following the premiere of Zombies 2. The first season’s midseason finale, "First Time In Denver", aired on April 10, 2020. The latter half of the season began airing on July 10, 2020 and concluded on September 4, 2020. Throughout the season, Thank You Teddy remained among the top rated cable programs each week, and performed over twice as well as any other Disney Channel series. The second season began production in October 2020 and premiered on February 19, 2021. Disney Channel ordered seven additional episodes for the second season, bringing the total count to 20 episodes. The midseason finale, "Storm Show", aired on April 16, 2021. The season concluded on September 17, 2021. Disney Channel renewed the series for a third season on May 14, 2021, later announced to be the final season, upon the request of series creators Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen.

A feature-length Christmas Disney Channel Original Movie based on the series, entitled Thank You Teddy, It’s Christmas!, a sequel to Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas!, was announced to premiere in December 2020. Production commenced in June 2020 and wrapped in October 2020. The movie was released on December 11, 2020 and garnered 3.034 million viewers, surpassing the series premiere as the most watched episode of the show. A second feature-length movie based on the series is in the works for Disney+, rumored to take place during the summer.

Premise[]

Like the original series, Thank You Teddy is set in the same house in Denver, Colorado, occupied by the Duncan family and takes place in 2022. When their youngest daughter, Charlie Duncan, turns twelve, she is granted access to a series of video diaries her older sister Teddy Duncan prepared for her during her teenage years. Bob Duncan and his wife Amy Duncan (née Blankenhooper) have adjusted to only having two kids at home, Charlie and their youngest child, the mischievous yet charming Toby Duncan, but when their son PJ sells his mildly successful peanut butter and jelly sandwich truck business for $50,000, he "retires" and moves back home just as their other son, Gabe, graduates college and returns to the nest while he attempts to figure out his next move. Teddy Duncan, the second-oldest Duncan kid, moved in a few blocks down from her childhood home and pursued her dream of becoming a songwriter. However, while her on-and-off boyfriend Spencer Walsh is on tour, she finds herself returning to the Duncan house shortly after finding out that she is pregnant.

Cast[]

Main[]

  • Charlie Duncan (Mia Talerico), the second-youngest Duncan sibling. Upon turning twelve, she is granted access to her older sister Teddy’s video diaries, which were first recorded twelve years ago, when Charlie was a newborn. These video diaries allow her to navigate her life as a teenager, as they provide advice and lessons. She is typically a happy-go-lucky person, although she can be rather mischievous at times.
  • Amy Duncan (née Blankenhooper) (Leigh Allyn-Baker), Bob’s wife and the mother of PJ, Teddy, Gabe, Charlie, and Toby. Having just two kids at home, compared to previously having five, she is finally able to achieve her dream and be the host of Good Morning Denver, which has now expanded to doing two shows a day. She is often portrayed as dutiful, protective and comedic.
  • Bob Duncan (Eric Allan Kramer), the father of Teddy, PJ, Gabe, Charlie, and Toby, and husband of Amy. He owns a pest control company, "Bob’s Bugs Be Gone", and is far less authoritative and strict than his wife.
  • Teddy Duncan (Bridgit Mendler), Charlie’s older sister and the second-oldest Duncan sibling. She is newly pregnant and is committed to being a single mom. She and her ex-boyfriend/baby daddy Spencer Walsh’s band Spencer and The Shriek has disbanded after their breakup, however she is determined to continue songwriting.
  • PJ Duncan (Jason Dolley), Charlie’s oldest sibling. He often appears awkward, somewhat careless, and childish, but on numerous occasions has been known to be resourceful, creative, and intelligent. He has recently sold his mildly successful peanut butter and jelly sandwich truck business for $50,000, and is retiring in addition to moving back home.
  • Gabe Duncan (Bradley Steven Perry), Charlie’s middle-child brother. He is a prankster and troublemaker, although more subdued as he has gotten older, and he has a rivalry with their neighbor Mrs. Dabney, who is often the target of his and Toby’s pranks and stunts. He has graduated from college and moved back home, at least until he "finds his calling".
  • Toby Duncan (Roger Dale Floyd), Charlie’s younger brother and the youngest of the Duncan siblings. He gets into trouble over his love of pulling pranks and rebels often, which allows him to have a special connection with his older brother, Gabe.

1–2 1–2 "Charlie Is 12" February 14, 2020 101–102 2.796
The entire Duncan family reunites for Charlie’s (Mia Talerico) twelfth birthday and Toby’s (Roger Dale Floyd) tenth birthday, where the oldest Duncan sibling, PJ (Jason Dolley) announces that he has sold his mildly successful peanut butter and jelly sandwich truck business for $50,000, and is retiring in addition to moving back home. Gabe Duncan (Bradley Steven Perry) has an announcement to make, that upon graduating college, he is also moving back into the Duncan house, at least until he "finds his calling". Lastly, Teddy Duncan (Bridgit Mendler) has an announcement of her own; that she is pregnant and that the baby’s father, her on-and-off boyfriend Spencer Walsh, will not be helping her raise the baby. Bob Duncan (Eric Allan Kramer) and his wife Amy Duncan (Leigh-Allyn Baker) decide to ask Teddy to move back in so that they can help her during her pregnancy. Meanwhile, Gabe teaches Toby some of his classic pranks, to be played on their neighbor Mrs. Dabney (Patricia Belcher), using the excuse that it’s his birthday to stop Mrs. Dabney from retaliating. PJ is tasked by Charlie to keep Amy away from the scene of her birthday party as to not embarrass her in front of her friends, although Teddy later finds out that Charlie instead asked PJ to keep Amy away because she didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of her crush, Oliver (Maxwell Simkins).
3 3 "Bad News Bears" February 21, 2020 103 1.833
Teddy decides to have a girl’s night with her best friend Ivy (Raven Goodwin), and is planning to reveal her pregnancy to her at the end of a night full of fun hijinks. However, her plan backfires when Amy is called into work due to an emergency broadcast, leaving Teddy and Ivy in charge of looking after Charlie and Toby, both of whom are in the midst of an argument with one another because Toby lost Charlie’s favorite stuffed animal. Meanwhile, Bob takes PJ and Gabe on a camping trip in hopes of speaking to them and setting them on the right path for their futures, although they run into a bit of trouble when they begin to feel that something may have snuck into their tent, after leaving it to start a fire. The culprit turns out to be a bear, prompting the boys to run home. It’s revealed that the emergency broadcast Amy was called into work for was an alert that a bear had escaped from the Denver Zoo.
4 4 "Jealousy Is a Green-Eyed Monster" February 28, 2020 104 1.216
Amy attempts to contact Teddy’s baby daddy Spencer (Shane Harper) in order to convince him that he has to be involved in his baby’s life. When she finally reaches him, he explains that he was never informed about Teddy’s pregnancy and says that he is fully open to being an involved father. She is then tasked with convincing Teddy to let Spencer back into her life, which Teddy refuses after he broke her heart several times. Meanwhile, PJ and Emmett (Micah Williams) go on a double date with two sisters, which brings up unresolved feelings for PJ. Charlie gets jealous that Bob pays more attention to Toby than he does to her, and so she spends time with Gabe to make Toby jealous.
5 5 "And PJ Makes Six!" March 6, 2020 105 1.341
PJ gets back in contact with his high school sweetheart Skyler (Samantha Boscarino) and upon meeting up with her for coffee, finds out that she is newly engaged to her boyfriend of six months, Daniel Hale (Pierson Fodé). Heartbroken, he turns to his mother Amy for comfort and reverts back to a child, being entirely dependent on her, which she doesn’t mind at all. Meanwhile, Bob has to go pick up his mother (Lynne Marie Stewart) at the airport and nervously asks Teddy to tag along, which causes her to become suspicious of his intentions, only to find out that he hasn’t yet told her that Teddy is pregnant and planning to raise the baby on her own, and wants Teddy to deliver the news. Charlie and Toby get into trouble at school when Charlie pushes over someone that was bullying him and as Gabe is the only available guardian at the time, he goes to the school and reminisces, although several of the teachers are terrified of him due to his past actions.
6 6 "Dine and Dash" March 13, 2020 108 1.418
Charlie asks Amy if she can invite her crush Oliver over for dinner. Amy agrees, despite the fact that she is emotional over the fact that her second-youngest kid is going on her first-ever date. Oliver is quickly disliked by several members of the family; he releases a colony of ants in Teddy’s purse, he replaces Gabe’s red licorice with black licorice with red food coloring, he gets into PJ’s phone and texts Skyler, he secretively sprays Bob and Amy with Toby’s water gun, causing them to blame Toby, and Charlie catches on to his pranks, putting a stop to them and standing up for her family. However, when PJ announces that Oliver’s text to Skyler convinced her to part ways with her fiancé, the family gives Oliver a second chance and he apologizes.
7–8 7–8 "Happy Birthday Duncans" April 3, 2020 110–111 1.494
Amy looks back on each of her kid’s tenth birthdays; during PJ’s tenth birthday, Amy tries to bake a birthday cake for him, although she ends up setting the kitchen on fire. During Teddy’s tenth birthday, she is gifted a guitar which is almost immediately broken by Gabe. During Gabe’s tenth birthday, nobody seems to remember that it’s a milestone birthday for him, as everyone is focused on the news that Amy is once again pregnant. Thus, Gabe runs away from home. Teddy eventually finds him in the treehouse in Mrs. Dabney’s backyard and apologizes to him to forgetting his birthday. He agrees to come back home and, upon entering, sees the living room covered in birthday decorations, with Amy and Bob explaining that they merely pretend to forget his birthday, only for Amy to later admit to Teddy that she did in fact forget his birthday after all. On Charlie’s tenth birthday, which coincides with Toby’s eighth birthday, he attempts to sabotage Charlie’s birthday celebrations because he wants all the attention to himself, but both parties end up getting sidelined when Toby accidentally tricks Amy into eating a cupcake filled with pebbles intended for Mrs. Dabney, which chips her tooth.
9–10 9–10 "First Time In Denver" April 10, 2020 113–114 2.032
Teddy, at a coffee house, spots a woman who seems familiar. She then recognizes her to be Jessie Prescott (Debby Ryan), whom she met during the events of "Good Luck Jessie: NYC Christmas". Jessie reveals that she is filming a new movie, entitled Double Dragon Date, in Denver. Soon after getting to catch up, Jessie asks Teddy to write and sing a song for the movie’s end credits. Teddy is honored, if a tad nervous, and Jessie mentions that she needs a place to stay as the cast and crew weren’t provided with hotel reservations. Teddy invites Jessie to stay at the Duncan house, and she gleefully accepts. Jessie gets to know the Duncan clan, and in particular bonds with PJ, making Skyler jealous. Meanwhile, Teddy struggles with writing a song for the movie and receives unsolicited help from Amy and Charlie, which leaves Bob stuck taking Gabe and Toby to Super Adventure Land’s grand reopening. Eventually, Teddy writes a song titled "Tragic", partially based on her relationship with Spencer. In the latter half of the episode, Jessie begins to suspect that her role is being recast after overhearing an odd conversation between the director and her co-star, Ty (Roshon Fegan). When a mysterious redhead (Bella Thorne) shows up on set and appears to be friendly with Ty, Jessie assumes she is her replacement and tries to sabotage her, being aided by Gabe as he returns to his old ways for one last hurrah and helps Jessie sabotage the mystery woman. Meanwhile, Amy begins to wonder if she isn’t paying enough attention to Toby now that all of her kids have moved back into the house. Charlie tries to hide a bad grade she received on her English paper, although Bob is quick to catch on to her schemes.

Note: This is an one-hour special episode. "Tragic", the song performed by Bridgit Mendler as Teddy Duncan, was released onto streaming and digital platforms on the same day and was co-written by Mendler. Bella Thorne and Roshon Fegan reprise their roles as CeCe Jones and Ty Blue from Shake It Up, another Disney Channel series which Good Luck Charlie had previously crossed over with.

11–12 11–12 "Gender Reveal Party" July 10, 2020 106–107 2.192
When Teddy receives an envelope with her baby’s gender inside of it, she says that she doesn’t want to know the gender of her baby. Amy’s curiosity gets the best of her and she begins to plan a surprise gender reveal party, largely to satisfy her own needs. However, when she loses the envelope that reveals the baby’s gender, she has to pretend to be Teddy, dressing up as her and going to her obstetrician’s office. Meanwhile, Charlie goes to Teddy for love advice, which makes Teddy realize that she was wrong for not allowing Spencer the chance to be involved in their baby’s life. When he doesn’t respond, she instead calls his mom (Andrea Bendewald), only to find that he is on a flight to Portugal, despite Amy secretly calling him to attend the gender reveal party. When tasked with making sandwiches for the party, Bob and PJ instead have a sandwich-making contest with Gabe and Toby as the judges. Eventually, when the gender reveal party kicks off, Teddy is disappointed that Spencer didn’t shown up and turns to Ivy for comfort, although he arrives just before Teddy cuts the cake. The two agree to be friends and raise their baby together, finding out that they will be having a daughter.

Note: This is a one-hour special episode. Through Disney Channel’s website, fans were able to vote on the baby’s gender.

Once Spencer travels to Europe to begin the second leg of his tour, Teddy decides to move to Europe to be with him. Amy tells her that she has a serious case of "baby brain", and that her pregnancy is clouding her judgement. In an effort to convince her to stay, she and the other Duncan kids put on a play to show Teddy how much Denver truly has to offer. Meanwhile, Bob has to deal with an ant infestation at Mrs. Dabney’s house across the street, soon finding out that Toby and Oliver are the real culprits behind the infestation. PJ goes on his first official date with Skyler in four years, cooking her a special dinner at her parent’s beach house, but ends up constantly making a fool of himself whenever he attempts to be elegant and polite.
14 14 "Trouble In Duncanville" July 24, 2020 112 1.273
Charlie’s best friend Nikki (Jaidyn Triplett) tells her that she has a crush on Oliver, and is planning on confessing to him tomorrow after school, hearing a rumor that he was rejected by his crush. Charlie attempts to decide between telling Nikki that she too has a crush on him or confessing to Oliver before Nikki does. However, when Bob catches wind of Charlie’s dilemma, he explains to her that she should always choose her friends over boys. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Amy tells Charlie to go behind Nikki’s back, accentuating the drama of the situation. Receiving conflicting advice, Charlie goes to PJ and Gabe for a second opinion. PJ argues that Gabe’s inexperience with relationships should invalidate his opinion, and the two continue to the argue. Lastly, Charlie goes to Teddy, who explains that she shouldn’t settle for being somebody’s second choice and that she should only give her heart to people who will love her unconditionally, without taking advantage of her kindness and forgiveness. Charlie realizes her crush on Oliver is shallow, and that Nikki’s connection with him is more based in emotion. Charlie steps aside and Nikki confesses her crush to Oliver.
15 15 "Sleepless In Denver II: The Reawakening" July 31, 2020 115 1.354
When Mrs. Dabney’s granddaughter and Gabe’s ex-girlfriend, Lauren (Jaylen Barron), comes to visit her grandmother for two weeks, Gabe tries to reconnect with her. However, Lauren is hesitant to rekindle an old relationship, as she has no intention of staying in Denver. Meanwhile, Charlie and Nikki have a sleepover at the latter’s house and watch scary movies, which especially scares Charlie. Upon receiving a text from her to come pick her up, Bob attempts to discreetly leave the Duncan house in the middle of the night and drives to Nikki’s house, unable to alert Charlie after forgetting his phone at home. He roams around the outside of the house, tapping on windows and whispering to catch somebody’s attention, which leads Charlie and Nikki to believe that there’s a murderer lurking outside the house. Teddy suddenly has strange cravings brought on by her pregnancy and can’t fall asleep until she satisfies them, keeping PJ up to cook for her.
16 16 "The Bachelor Bet" August 7, 2020 116 1.259
Gabe runs into his past rival, Jo (G. Hannelius), after being forced to spend a day at the mall with Amy, where she reveals to Gabe that she had a crush on him when they were younger and asks him out to lunch. He agrees, despite being hung up on Lauren. When Amy suggests that Gabe and Jo get lunch then and there, the pair go to a café and Amy returns home where PJ, having previously "mastered" cooking, has set out to bake the perfect cake only to find that the oven doesn’t work and requests that Bob fix it. Amy then mentions Gabe’s predicament and Teddy opines that there is no predicament, as Lauren is moving back to Chicago in a week’s time. However, when Gabe returns home from his "lunch date" with Jo, Toby informs him that he overheard a conversation between Mrs. Dabney and Lauren, explaining that Mrs. Dabney suffered a fall and Lauren agreed to stay in Denver for "a few months" to get her back on her feet. The news spreads throughout the house, and Charlie suggests that they bet on who Gabe will end up dating. As Bob could use extra money for parts in order to fix the oven, he throws his hat in the ring and the rest of the family follow in his footsteps. Amy and PJ vote on Jo, while Bob, Teddy and Charlie vote on Lauren. Meanwhile, Gabe works up the courage to ask out Lauren, and both Bob and Charlie selfishly assist him in hopes of winning the bet, while Amy snoops through Gabe’s phone with the help of PJ and texts Jo to come over. In the end, Teddy chooses to put a stop to the bet, telling Gabe about the bet. The family apologizes for making a game out of Gabe’s love life and go out for ice cream, inviting Jo, only for her to say that she has plans with her girlfriend and is running late, referring to Gabe as a friend before exiting and leaving the Duncans stunned.
17 17 "The Big Question" August 14, 2020 118 1.257
After upsetting Toby, Teddy begins to wonder if she won’t make a good mother. Amy takes it upon herself to prove otherwise, using her video diaries as evidence, although this doesn’t convince her. Charlie, as a joke, auditions for the lead role in the school play, only to beat out her best friend Nikki and be cast as the lead without putting in nearly as much effort or care into her audition. Meanwhile, Bob provides PJ and Gabe with love advice when PJ gets in hot water with Skylar and Gabe tries to ask out Lauren. When Charlie turns to a video diary Teddy made in the Good Luck Charlie episode "Kwikki Chick" for advice, Teddy is finally convinced that she will be a good mother. Gabe goes over to Mrs. Dabney’s house to ask Lauren out but when she isn’t home, he ends up helping an injured Mrs. Dabney around the house. Lauren returns home and sees Gabe being far more mature and selfless than the boy she met eight years ago, and asks him out for coffee.
18 18 "PJ and The Bribe" August 21, 2020 117 1.225
Gabe gets a job at Kwikki Chikki, much to Bob’s chagrin. He hopes to convey to Gabe that he is "wasting his potential" in a calm and encouraging way, although he repeatedly fails at this, eventually being forced to take a part-time job there in order to show Gabe how unfulfilling working in the service industry can be. However, he ends up enjoying his time there, due to the free fried chicken. Teddy and Charlie spend the day together, as suggested by Amy, and Teddy gets a glimpse into her future as she deals with the drama and attitude that teenagers bring along with them, especially after Charlie spots Nikki and Oliver hanging out together without her, later finding out that they were on a date. Meanwhile, PJ and Emmett decide to get their band, PJ and The Vibe, back together and are in need of a bassist and background vocalist. When Emmett invites Amy to temporarily fill in for the band, she becomes a tad too excited and controlling, forcing PJ to tell her the difficult news that she is no longer a part of the band, but Amy bribes Emmett to convince him otherwise.
19 19 "Meet The In-Laws" August 28, 2020 119 1.316
Bob’s mother, Linda Duncan (Shirley Jones), comes to visit just as Amy returns home from a rough day at work. The two don’t get along, as usual, and continually bicker. This becomes a problem when Spencer’s parents also come to visit, specifically to nudge Teddy into raising their grandchild a certain way, putting her to the test by tasking her with taking care of a baby doll for the day, judging each and every decision she makes. Meanwhile, Toby accidentally spills soda on the carpet in Bob and Amy’s room. Charlie witnesses this and repeatedly bribes Toby in exchange for her silence. PJ spots Lauren out on a date with someone else, and is unsure of whether or not to tell Gabe. Eventually, he does, only to find out that the other person was Lauren’s sister, Layla (Sofia Wylie). Lauren promises Gabe that she is serious about their relationship and, for the first time ever, tells him that she loves him.

When Teddy goes into labor, the entire Duncan clan go to the hospital with her. Lauren tags along and pulls Gabe aside to tell him that she is moving back to Chicago. He begs her to stay in Denver but when she won’t budge, he proposes to her and the two agree to move to Chicago together. Ivy arrives at the hospital but is denied entry into Teddy’s room as she isn’t a family member. Using an array of costumes and schemes, she struggles to sneak into the room without any doctors or nurses noticing. Meanwhile, Amy and Bob discuss the possibility of having another baby. Despite Bob being hesitant, Amy tries desperately to convince him. However, when Charlie turns to her for help with her feelings for Oliver, Amy realises that she already has plenty of people that need her and love her, and focuses her baby fever towards being a good grandmother. PJ attempts to to contact Spencer’s parents about the birth of their grandchild, despite Teddy’s wishes due to how controlling they are. Teddy, after nine hours of labor, gives birth to her baby girl and, with the help of Spencer on FaceTime, decides to name her Isabella. When Teddy gets to hold Isabella for the first time, she sings "Hang In There Baby" to soothe her before the episode fades to black.

Gabe books a plane ticket to Chicago so that he can visit Lauren as a surprise. When Amy finds out about this, she decides its time for the Duncan’s annual family vacation and books tickets for every member of the Duncan clan, much to Gabe’s dismay. However, when the Duncans arrive at their hotel room, a sudden storm keeps them from doing any of the things they had planned. PJ quickly notices Gabe acting strange and Gabe confesses to him that he believes Lauren is losing interest in him. Meanwhile, Charlie sets out to track down a familar face that she spotted in the hotel lobby, only to find out that Spencer is staying at the same hotel as the Duncans under an alias. She informs Teddy about this and Isabella meets her father for the first time, which inspires Teddy to write a song. When Toby asks Bob and Amy how they met, the two reminisce about the beginning of their relationship.

Note: This is a one-hour special episode. The song written and performed by Teddy Duncan is "Hurricane (2020)", which was featured on Bridgit Mendler’s re-recorded album, Nice To Meet You, released a few months prior.

He asks Bob how he proposed to Amy and is told the whole story: Amy’s father, Hank, despised Bob due to a bad first impression and got along better with her ex, Bob Diddlebock. When Bob asked for his blessing, he was turned down and had to earn her father’s approval. Amy’s sister, Jamie, helps him hatch a plan to get on her father’s good side, which includes going on a disastrous fishing trip and going to a dull hockey game. Eventually, Bob is given Hank’s approval and upon proposing to Amy, he finds out that she is already pregnant with PJ, a detail that Bob leaves out of the story.

Meanwhile, Charlie and Nikki receive suspicious letters in their lockers and have to track down whoever might be behind them with Toby potentially holding the key to solving the mystery. Ivy offers to help PJ look for an engagement ring but becomes overwhelmed with jealousy and rage after learning that Emmett has proposed to Vonnie. Amy, doing a Good Morning Denver segment on sibling rivalry, follows Charlie and Toby around in hopes of catching them in the act but, when the two won’t fight, has to manufacture drama. Jo messages Gabe following a lengthy silence and asks him out on a date, which leads to old feelings bubbling up to the surface. Skyler accepts PJ’s proposal, which encourages him to think about moving out of the Duncan house and once again having a place of his own. The prospect of becoming a somewhat empty nester again brings Amy to tears, forcing Bob to have to comfort her by showing her that both Charlie, Toby and Isabella will still need her. Eventually, Teddy decides against moving out as, though the Duncan household may be chaotic, it is primarily a place with plenty of love and plenty of positive influences and thus, Spencer instead buys a house in the neighborhood. A visit from Mrs. Dabney proves helpful as Gabe is told that Lauren is on a flight to Denver, having found a job there in order to officially begin her relationship with Gabe.

40 1 "Good Luck, Charlie" February 11, 2022 301 0.748
The day before Charlie’s first day of high school, she searches for a potential video diary of Teddy’s about the trials and tribulations of high school, which Teddy swears that she made several of, though the rest of the Duncan clan don’t seem to think so. Meanwhile, Skyler and PJ finally sit down to start planning their wedding, only to end up procrastinating and not being able to get any work done. Thus, Amy steps in, something which PJ is strongly opposed to and so he and Skyler try to find some way to uninterest her from the idea of being their wedding planner. However, when they can’t seem to come up with anything that works, they go to Bob, who claims that he has years of experience doing just what they’re attempting to, though his schemes don’t yield the best results either. Amy eventually moves onto putting together a romantic picnic for Gabe and Lauren, once PJ pays Gabe to request that Amy prep one for them. Although Charlie cannot find anything too helpful from Teddy’s video diaries, she realizes that she’s the same age as her sister was when she began making video diaries and decides to record video diaries for Isabella.

Unproduced episodes[]

According to showrunners Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen, a pair hour-long specials were scrapped from the first season, these being "Storm Show: Part 1 & 2" and "Baby on Board". Baker later revealed that "Storm Show: Part 1 & 2" would have seen the Duncan family going on one last vacation before the birth of Teddy’s baby and being stuck indoors due to a hurricane, with numerous secrets from various family members coming to light during that time. A page from the script was also shared via Twitter. The special later became the second season’s midseason finale and according to Baker, "roughly 40%" of the original version of the script made it into the released version. The second scrapped special, "Baby on Board", was intended to act as the season finale and would have covered the last days of Teddy’s pregnancy with the baby being past its due date, in addition to also covering the eventual birth of the baby. However, the episode was shortened to "Hang In There Baby", which solely focuses on Teddy giving birth. An episode featuring a transgender classmate of Charlie’s was also pitched but the idea was eventually dropped.

Television film[]

A feature-length Christmas Disney Channel Original Movie based on the series, entitled Thank You Teddy, It’s Christmas!, a sequel to Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas!, was announced on March 1, 2020, and premiered on December 11, 2020. Production commenced in June 2020. The film centered around the Duncan family visiting Amy’s parents, which will be their first time meeting their great-grandchild. It garnered 3.034 million viewers, surpassing the series premiere as the most watched episode of the show. A second feature-length movie based on the series is in the works for Disney+, rumored to take place during the summer.

Music[]

Although a soundtrack for the show has not yet been released, several songs have been produced for the show. "Hang In There Baby (2020)", a re-recorded version of the original series’ theme song, was released as a promotional single and premiered on Radio Disney on February 1, 2020. The decision to re-record the theme song was made by Mendler herself. She also rewrote portions of the song, earning a songwriter credit on the track alongside Aris Archontis, Jeannie Lurie, and Chen Neeman. In the episode "First Time In Denver", Mendler wrote and performed "Tragic", which was released as a promotional single on April 10, 2020.
