Premise

When four turtles, along with a rat, are doused by an experimental ooze, they are mutated into human-like beings. The rat, Splinter, adopts the teenage turtles as his own sons, naming them after renaissance artists; Leonardo, the leader, Raphael, the brawn, Donatello, the brains, and Michaelangelo, the fun-loving party turtle, and teaches them their whole lives, in the art of ninjitzu, while hiding in their secret lair in the sewers to remain secret, so they can one day rise up to protect New York City from crime and corruption, mainly a secret organization of ninjas, the Foot Clan, and their merciless leader, Oroku Saki, aka the Shredder, the killer of Splinter's deceased owner, Hamato Yoshi. As they begin traveling to the surface to fight crime and battle the Foot, they come across a rookie news reporter, April O'Neil, who becomes thier first and greatest human friends, and Eric Sacks, the owner of TCRI, the very lab that created the ooze, and are later joined by another, sports-themed, vigilante, Casey Jones. Next to the Foot, the turtles are also pulled into a crime war, involving a criminal organization, the Purple Dragons. The turtles and their allies will go from the sewers, to the streets of New York, to the mysterious woodlands of a small town, to outer space, to the future, and even another dimension, to battle the Foot, chaotic mutants, mystical beings, and an alien invasion, while coping with adolescence in an attempt to keep their existence a secret from the world.

Cast

Main cast

  • The Ninja Turtles
    • Tyler Posey as Leonardo "Leo", the courageous leader of the four brothers and as such, the most balanced. As the most skilled out of the other brothers, Leo is also the most loyal and most devoted to his master, rarely ever taking a break from his training to rise to the occasion as the leader. While this also makes him the most disciplined, it can also be a shortcoming, as he is shown to a workaholic. Leo is usually the one who never gives up hope, always finding a way to save his friends and family. Leo wears a blue mask and wields dual katanas.
    • Colton Haynes as Raphael "Raph", the hot-headed and temperamental turtle out of the four brothers. Raph is possibly the strongest of the turtles, and believes that he should've been chosen to be leader, often clashing with Leo and disobeying Splinter. None the less, Raph is fiercely loyal to his friends and family, and despite working on his anger to some degree, he would still rather rush to action and throw the first punch, than contemplate the most rational move, which can be a weakness. He wears a red mask and battles with two sais.
    • Dylan O'Brien as Donatello "Don or Donnie", the smartest of the brothers, usually creating devices to help on missions, and makes endeavors to retain thier enemies' tech to create enhanced gear for the turtles. Donnie is the least violent, wanting to use brains rather than brawns, but is more than willing to step up to protect his friends and family, although he does often forgets to see the big picture by becoming obsessed with something else during a mission, mostly computers. Donnie wears a purple mask and favors a traditional bo staff in battle.
    • Graham Phillips as Michaelangelo "Mike or Mikey", the youngest of the brothers, always easy-going and wise cracking, concerning himself comic books, pizza, and horror movies, often referencing spoofs of pop culture. Mikey is taken less seriously than his brothers, usually because he's younger and is always making jokes, which makes him a comic relief in tense situations, but when it comes to defending his friends and family, he knows when to get serious. Mikey wears an orange mask and fights with a pair of nunchucks.
  • Tony Shalhoub as Master Splinter, the father of the four turtles, and their master. Before the mutation, he learned ninjitzu by copying his owner, Hamato Yoshi, who was killed by the Shredder. When he and the young turtles mutated, he took them in as his own sons and taught them in Ninjitzu, so they can one day be the ones to finally defeat the Foot Clan. Despite his approval for them to go the surface, he is often over-protective, especially when it comes to the Shredder.
  • Grace Holley as April O'Neil, a rookie reporter for Channel Six News, who wants to be taken more seriously by her boss and friends, but mostly spends her time chasing after the new "vigilantes", until being caught in a heist by the Foot Clan, and was saved by the turtles. She swore to keep their secret, and became their eyes and ears on the street, as well as a "big sister" to them. She learned that it was her father who created the mutagen that mutated the turtles. Though she disliked his smug attitude at first, April became romantically involved and later married Casey Jones.
  • Josh Sussman as Vernon "Vern" Fenwick, April's camera-man, who usually tries to win the affection of his much more attractive colleague. He was reluctant to help her with the "vigilante" story, not believing in it, but soon learned about her involvement with them, and became an ally to the turtles himself. Despite having a cowardice and clumsy demeanor, Vern does help the turtles on occasion, and shows he has a heroic side, by attacking Sacks, and ultimately, in the Season 2 finale, saving April from a building, allowing her to escape as it collapsed, claiming his life. While Casey and April attended his funeral, the Turtles mourned from a distance.
  • Nathan Keyes as Casey Jones, a hot-headed vigilante, who wears a hockey mask and uses sports tools as weapons, and is the turtles second closest human ally, alongside his later love-interest and wife, April. He is closest to Raph, due to them both being temperamental and the most violent, and it was Raph who taught him to have mercy on the criminals he fights, which Casey initially didn't, since his parents were killed by the leader of the Purple Dragons.
  • Patrick Fabian as Eric Sacks, the head of TCRI, the company that April's father worked for and created the mutagen that mutated Splinter and the turtles. He too followed the mutant vigilante case, believing them to be a creation of the TCRI ooze. After learning about the ooze, April confronted him and he became an ally to the turtles, but Leo eventually suspected him of being the Shredder. At the end of the first season, he was revealed to be the second-in-command of the Foot, as Oroku Saki's apprentice.

Recurring cast

  • Brian Tee as Oroku Saki/The Shredder
  • Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman
  • Sanaa Lathan as Police Chief Rebecca Vincent

Nano A regular con-man and petty street theif, Harry Parker, finally gets a chance at his big score, when he comes across a child-like artificial intelligence inside nanotechnology. With April re-opening her mother's antique shop, the Turtles, with help from Casey, stake out and wait to face the crock and his ward. Meanwhile, Casey becomes smitten with April, who is annoyed by the vigilante's smug tough guy attitude.
I Think His Name Is Baxter Stockman

Following a fight with the Foot, Donnie loses one of his T-Pods (Which has a military chip) and it is found by Baxter Stockman, who uses it to build a suit of armor to attack TCRI and exact revenge on the man who fired him, Eric Sacks, who April happens to be visiting to learn more about the mutagen.

Wrath of the Shredder With their many victories lately, Splinter warns his sons not to be too confident. Despite his warnings, the turtles still believe themselves undefeatable, but when the Shredder decides to see what the turtles are made of himself, their underestimation of him might be their undoing, as they nearly escape with their lives.
Panic in the Sewers Following the nightmare against Shredder, Splinter puts the Turtles through 24/7 never ending training, but must soon defend their home, when Shredder hires Baxter Stockman, who uses his new MOUSERS to invade the sewers.
Who is Oroku Saki?
