Task Force X, originally known as Suicide Squad, is a 2018 American superhero-comedy film and a Batman spin-off. The film stars Michael Rowe, Tara Strong, and Ben Mendelsohn. Rated R.
Long-time supervillain Deadshot (Michael Rowe) has been captured by U.S. government. However, Amanda Waller (C.C.H. Pounder) instead assigns him and other villains to save the world from Count Vertigo. He accepts the deal and becomes a hero for once but only because he has a bomb in his head which will blow up if he fails the mission or disobeys orders.
The film starts with the Riddler (Crispin Glover) doing some computer stuff but is attacked by some corrupt soldiers. However, Batman (Kevin Conroy) stops them and rescues Riddler. Amanda Waller (C.C.H. Pounder) saw the whole thing and knows the soldiers work for Count Vertigo (Ben Mendelsohn). She gets an idea and orders the government to assemble a military team of supervillains known as "Task Force X".
The introductions reveal the members: Floyd Lawton (Michael Rowe) a.k.a. Deadshot, sniper and assasion, arrested in a bank by Batman. Digger Harkness (Nick E. Tarabay) a.k.a. Captain Boomerang, Austrailan criminal, also arrested in a bank but it was by The Flash (Grant Custin). Waylon Jones (David Hayter) a.k.a. Killer Croc, a half-man half-crocodile, arrested in a swamp by Batman. Louise Lincoln (Jennifer Hale) a.k.a. Killer Frost, a scientist turned ice villain, arrested in a warehouse by The Flash. Harleen Quinnzel (Tara Strong) a.k.a. Harley Quinn, former physchitrist turned criminal, arrested in a night club by Batman. El Diablo (Robbie Amell), an arsonist, arrested by Superman (Tim Daly). Anatoly Knyazev (David Nykl) a.k.a. KGBeast, Russian assassion and terrorist, arrested in military base by Green Arrow (Stephen Amell). Eric Needham (Giancarlo Esposito) a.k.a. Black Spider, assassion, arrested outside an apartment by Batman. John Corben, a.k.a. Metallo (voiced by Malcolm McDowell), a cyborg enemy of Superman and was defeated by him. Rick Flag Jr. (Karl Urban), a military colonel and son of General Flag Sr., second in command. (the titles, "Task Force X", appears on the opening screen)
In a facility, the group wakes up and are wondering where they are. However, Deadshot realizes that they are being recruited into a military group but when he sees Captain Boomerang, they fight with each other until Amanda Waller arrives and has them separate. She introduces herself and reveals the she is hiring them to save the world from Ra's al Ghul. However, some of them refuse because they are bad guys. When KGBeast tries to leave, Waller has his head get blown off. She reveals that they have explosives in their necks and it will detonate if they disobey orders. This makes them agree but they are knocked out again. They wake up in metal boxes and are sent to Gotham City.
At the Iceberg Lounge, they meet Oswald Copplepot (Danny DeVito) and they need directions from him. However, he overreacts to Harley because she and The Joker (Mark Hamill) filled his truck with cigarettes, set it on fire, and drove it into the river just for a laugh but now calms down after being reminded that she doesn't love Joker anymore. He gives them directions.
At a bar, they start hanging out and listen to stories about Deadshot's story.
In a flashback, it is shown that Deadshot was once an assassin for hire and took down targets for a lot of clients but he would always have time for his daughter Zoe Lawton. However, he started to become a villain and got the attention of Batman. When he was finally stopped, he made a promise to his daughter to never be a villain again.
In the present, he goes to his bedroom but Harley comforts him and they hit it off.
