The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 is a 2014 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, directed by Matthew Vaughn and released by Walt Disney Motion Picture. It serves as a sequel to the 2012 film The Spectacular Spider-Man and was announced in 2011.Logan Lerman ,Emma Roberts, Marton Csokas, Freddie Highmore, Sam Witwer, Holland Roden, Jake Abel,Hugh Laurie, Bryan Cranston and Jullien Moore star.
Development of The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 began after the success of The Spectacular Spider-Man. Sangster, Csokas and Witwer were cast between December 2012 and February 2013. Filming took place in New York from February to July 2013. The film was released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on May 2, 2014 in the United States.
The film received critical acclaim from film critics, mainly because the movie exceed the expectations given by the trailer, such as premise and introduction of the antagonists. But still, the critics praised the casting performances, visual style, plot and theme, grossing more than $733 million worldwide alongside fellow Marvel Cinematic film Captain America: The Winter Soldier which made 708$ million, and a sequel is set to be released in 2016, with Vaughn returning to direct.

Plot[]
Spider-Man (Logan Lerman) is seen swing through New York and sees The Looter hijacking a Mercades Benz with assault rifle attached to it. Spider-Man lands on the car and saves the hostages, later he stops and takes a selfie with his camera along the busted Looter. Then he sees The Wheel causing havoc in the streets, destroying cars as he hits a bus and prepares to hit a woman with her baby, Spidey stops it ,and he then Stops the Wheel. He then gets a call from Gwen who is at the graduation as Peter promises to get there before he gives photos to J. Jonah Jameson (J.K Simmons) at the Daily Bugle.
He arrives at the graduation and kisses Gwen (Emma Roberts) and they both give there speeches. After the ceremony Peter talks to Aunty May (Juliane Moore) about how proud uncle Ben would be of Peter, then overhears Mary Jane's (Holland Roden) Father yelling at her until he comes over and ask her Farther to leave and that this is Mary Jane's day and that she does not want to see him and he angrily leaves and Mary Jane thanks Peter.Gwen then invites Peter to dinner with her, at Dinner they have a good talk until she tells Peter that she is in the running to go to Oxford Universtiy and it's between her and another girl sadding Peter.
Donald Menken (Aaron Eckhart) opens a limo for Harry Osborn (Freddie Higmore). There, he sees a dying Norman Osborn (Bryan Cranston). Harry ask him why he did not talk to him and why he sent him away, with Norman replying he tells him it was to protect him since he would sometimes turn into a goblin and each time would go crazy, saying the countless number of people he has killed as the Goblin,revealing that he is dying because of it, becoming the Green Goblin who attacked Spider-Man two years ago and that now S.H.I.E.L.D is down (Watch Captain America 2 for that reason why). He can launch a plan Oscorp has been planning for years and wants Harry to find an antidote for himself since he has the disease as well, with Harry agreeing. Norman steps down as Oscorp CEO and appoints Harry to the position.
Peter wakes up the next morning and talks with Aunt May about the disappearance of The Avengers and how Spider-Man has to stay alive to keep hope, Peter, while outside working on his laptop, sees the news about Harry becoming CEO of Oscorp to where Peter then gose to to see his old friend. Harry is at the desk and embrasures the Oscorp board and calls them babies. He spots out Dr. Otto Octavius (Marton Csokas) and ask him what there working on the machinery section, to which Octavius tells him that are drones and he is personally working on Mechanical Arms. Harry insults the idea until Peter Parker comes in to greet his old friend, as they leave to hangout and catch up and Harry tells him that since he left tried forgetting Peter. He apologizes Peter and tells him about Gwen and how he missed hanging out with him.
Back at Oscorp, Otto Octavious is working with Allister Smythe (Ben Whishaw), until assistant Mac Gargan (Sam Witner) comes in demanding more work as he is unappreciated. Otto scolds him but Symthe calms him down, telling Mac they will. Otto pulls Gargan out, and reveals they're going to test the Scorpion DNA on him to distract OsCrop while he continues his work on the Spider-Slayer's Norman personally hired them to work on. Peter has been Spider-Man a lot more to handle the stress of being away from Gwen. He at home tries washing his suit but Aunt May won't let him as he leaves Mary Jane comes to him and thanks him for what he did for her. Peter welcomes her, after he gets a call from Gwen asking him to met her tonight. Harry starts doing more research into the OsCorp database for more on his disease and sees his Fathers goblin suit and ask Otto Octavius to enhance the suit, wich Otto agrees so. Peter is seen buying flowers for his next date with Gwen until he runs into Eddie Brock (Jake Abel), his old childhood friend. They have an dinner as Eddie says since Peter's Parents died, his Dad,Eddie Brock Sr. (Daniel Brühl) left as well and he moved with his Mom in Portland, Oregon, where she killed herself when he was 9. Eddie replies that since evertime he looked at her she looked like she wanted to die, so he came to see what Oscorp has hidden about both of there Parent's deaths. Peter tells him to call him when he gets the info. Otto and Gargan argue again until Smythe implants the serum into Mac and lets him loose onto the streets and is twitching starting to turn into a Scropion and Smythe and Ock continue on the Spider-Slayer's
Peter meets with Gwen and they kiss Peter tells her that he is gonna officially make the summer "Summer O' Gwen" but she tells him that she was accepted and that she will have to leave Next week for a jumpstart for the University and that she thinks it will be best if they stop seeign each other so when she leaves it will be easier but he refuses and Kisses he and he has a plan for them to have a long distance relationship.Mac is running through the streets and is changing more into a Scropion.Harry is seeing this on TV and Calls Peter if he sees the Scropion in the street but he hangs up as The Scropion is attacking the city and Peter leaves Gwen to go and Stop the Scorpion as Spider-Man. He talks to Scorpion to try calming him down, but he tries killing a woman. Spidy stops him and the two start fighting.In the fight, they seem equal as both can climb walls as they fight as he tries scratching Spider-Man, but Spidy punches him making him bleed and gose flying into a truck and is then apperhended by the police.
Peter goes home and is sad about Gwen leaving next week and while he puts his suit back into the closet he sees his backpack and remembers about his Parents and he spends the whole night trying to get more info about his parents and makes a wall full of Pictures and Newspaper but finds a werid Oscorp link and shows video of his parents death the video shows Richard (Tobey Maguire) on there holding Mary(Sarah Wayne Callies) and kisses and they tell each other everything they loved about Peter as Richard gose into the bathroom the Pilot comes out and talks to Mary until he locks the bathroom door and starts beating on Mary,Making Peter Cry watching it and Richard is forced to hear this and then pulls out his silncer and shoots her,forcing Peter to pause the video to cry and then Richard breaks down the door and sees Mary's dead body and he starts attacking him and the two fight until Richard and them both go into the passengers room and The Piolt throws the other piolt through the the window and everyone is flying through The pilot shoots at Richard but Richard closes the door but one of the bullets hit Richard in the back but falls to his wifes dead body the man who killed her who was sent flying had a undercover parachute and as the plane crashes Richard holds Mary's body as says "I Love You Peter" Peter identifys the killer as Otto Ocktavuis and saves it to his USB and when Aunt May enters to see Peter he hugs her and starts crying.Also at night Harry finds Video of Richard and Norman bickering at each other and Norman is saying that Richard and Eddie has to contuine research to find his cure and Richard tells him that they can't do it and that there only closest thing they have is a thing called Symboite adn Norman insist they test it on him until more searching is denied as Donald Menken comes and tells Harry don't go to deep since he may never comeback.
Eddie invites Peter to his house and as Peter enters he sees a wall of evidence as it resmebled Peter's and Peter shows Eddie the Video of his parents and Peter tells him the person who killed them was Otto and that maybe Otto knows how Eddie's Dad died but Eddie shows video of Eddie Sr.'s death,He is relaxing until he overhears them saying Mary and Richard are dead so he grabs a knife from a shelf and when one of the piolts enter he stabs him he takes the parachute and attachs it to himself and before he jumps to leave the other pilot pulls Eddie Brock Sr. to the ground and stomps on his head multiple times and before he shoots Eddie Sr. he stabs the man's foot and opens the symboite and wears it and eats the worker however the thing starts eating Brock Sr.but the plane crashes.This shocks both of them and Eddie angery ask Peter to leave.As Peter leaves he heads to the Bugle and turns in some photos to Jameson but calms that there phtotshop which they get in a funny arugement if it's either Real or Phototshop and Peter gets a call form Harry to go over to Oscorp but calls Gwen and leaves her a message telling her how much he loves and Gwen purpesly hears the message and starts crying.
Mac Gargan is seen in Ravencroft institue and is being tested by Ashley Kafka (Scarlett Johansson) and she is testing Scropion's DNA with smaller animals making smaller cross-species Mac ask her why she is working there and she tells him to stop freaks like him and since she has no where to go and she sees a rabbit turn into a a beast of some sort and they shoot it and take more blood.Peter talks to Harry and Harry shows him that there is a chance of saving his farther's life since Spider-Man is the perfect cross-species and his farther needs his blood to surive and Peter tells him he will do anyhting to save him.While Gwen is working she sees Mary Jane come in saying she is gonna replace her postion at OsCorp and she wishes her the best of luck and they hug and Gwen tells Mary to take care of Peter for her and she agrees.While Peter is walking out he Sees Mary Jane and they chat and she hugs Peter and tells him it's gonna be okay and he starts feeling sad.While Gwen is in the elevator she sees Harry and they talk and he gives her a card to go to dinner with him to talk.While Peter is walking out Symthe gets news to send the Spider-Slayer betas to the powerplant to evolve but a Beta test gets at and starts chasing after something and Peter senses it and starts running leading it into a closet and in punches down the drone and when he touches it sprays anti spider pesticide ethyl chloride at him making him weak and bleeding and Gwen while walking out of the elevator and hears Peter in the closet and checks on him and takes him home and he kisses her and thanks her and they kiss and Peter studys the anti spider pesticide ethyl chloride and sees it's a weakness
Doc Ock is now working after hours working on the arms to use Harry comes in and ask Doc to be the beta but at first refuses but then trys the arms but before the test his chmicals spill on the arms and He is caught in the accident grafting his traditional metal arms onto his body. After this incident, he was able to communicate with these mechanical arms via telepathy. He modified his arms to have the power to morph into different shapes but Oscorp soldiers then knock him out and Harry trys helping him but Donald Menken forces them to cover it up.
Eddie Brock is catching up on his notes until he sees an website breach on Oscorp he is then able to hack into the system and gets into the Oscorp database while looking he sees "Project Symboite 29-1" and trys getting video surrvalince but it then shows on the screen "Tracking Current Location" and Eddie trys turning off his computer but can't and smashes it on the ground but it is still tracking,he trys caling Peter but it's stopped and gets in his car.
Harry is having Dinner with Gwen and they talk during there talk Harry starts bugging out since his diesease is hurting him while Talking he ask why she has not talked to Peter yet and tells him since she dose not want to make her leaving any harder but Peter comes in and makes a scence around Harry and Gwen they then take the scence outside and he is yelling at Gwen and Harry but Gwen clams him down but Gwen tells him her flight is in an Hour and Harry leaves to let Peter and Gwen to spend there last time togther they do and he drives her to the airport and they have a very emtional goodbye and Harry helps his best friend deal with the issue until Peter sees a report of a bank being broken into and stops it as Spider-Man but he sees a woman in a white wig holding a gun to peoples head She points to a man's head with the Man's family feet away Spider-Man tries calming down Black Cat (Kristen Stewart) but during the peace making he insults her a little bit but when she is not paying attetion as Spider-Man shoots a web to take her gun a Police Sniper shots at the same time and Spider-Man ends up webing the man's bullet and not webbing the Gun and Black Cat kills the man and runs and tries escaping with the money while others are stealing money Spider-Man however is able to stop them but Black Cat escapes in a truck escaping and Spider-Man almsot stops her until he looks at her and visualizes Gwen's face and loses her and the other robs and when Peter gose home he feels great guilt for letting the man die.
Eddie is sleeping in his car until he wakes up and sees it broken into thinking Oscorp is searching for him.1 month has passed,Peter and Harry are having coffe at Aunt May's house and having a chat reminacing the past until Harry spits out blood and gose back to Oscorp Harry is dying more until he starts looking for more about the incident on Doc Ock and Mac Gargan until Donald Menken comes in and kicks out Harry since he can't risk him thearting the company and Harry walks out and while walking through the main science rooms he grabs a knife and starts killing scincetist and before they get him he takes a chemical and escapes on a jetpack.Doc Ock wakes up in OsCrop's underground cell chamber and sees Donald Menken,Menken tells Ock about what happened and tells him to capture Peter Parker and Eddie Brock since both know too much about there Parents death's and tells him to get Spider-Man's blood and he agrees.
Peter walks into his room to find Aunt May looking at his parents photo and Peter ask her what happended to his Parents and she tells him that they died but 1 week after there death a man named Nick Fury came over and told them that OsCorp may be behind there deaths and that in case of there saftey they will have a privite eye watch other them until Peter turned 10.Peter walks onto the roof of his house and is then joined by Mary-Jane they talk and Peter and Mary-Jane almost kiss until he stops himself cause he can't get over Gwen.Harry breaks into Ravencroft and tries breaking out Scropion and when he fails and is about to be killed by the soilders Doc Ock breaks in and saves both Harry and Scropion and before they leave Ashley Kafka takes off her wig and is revaled to be Black Widow and fight them but is knock out by Doc Ock's third arm and leaves she gets an intercom by Hawkeye asking if they should help Spider-Man but says no since she thinks Peter can stop them.
Eddie Brock tries buying a drink until he is captured by Oscorp agents and wakes up in an underground Lab and sees Donald Menken and a very sick Goblin Norman Osborn he tells him why Eddie Brock Sr. and Richard Parker was working on and tells him they were working for him to get better and made a Symboite but got attached to his farther and his farther went crazy and turned into a black-like alien and they needed S.H.I.E.L.D's help to stop him but when both Richard and Eddie Brock Sr.left S.H.I.E.L.D was trying to get them to work for them and tell them Oscorps secrets so when Richard visted with a Very Pregnant Mary they plant a bomb in the room they were in and tried killing Eddie Brock Sr. as well but Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) both protect them and almost killed Richard again but Hawkeye saved him by killing the attacker and when both Richad and Eddie Brock Sr. left to go to an S.H.I.E.L.D's base in Europe they hacked S.H.I.E.L.D's saftey program and crashed both Planes and that Eddie's farther work is in the Underground Lab chambers labled "Beta Symboite 29-1" and wants him to test it and throws Eddie in there and is becoming tooken over by it and Harry,Doc Ock and Scropion come back to the same base and Harry hugs his farther and Norman sends Doc Ock and Scropion and gives Scropion an exo-skeleton to help conserve his powers into the city and Norman injects Harry with the spider venom. The venom had a violent effect on Harry, seemingly accelerating the disease rather than curing it. In pain,casuing his skin to get green,growing his nails,growing his teeth that then break,His Scapula changes,he crawls over to his farther's prototype exo-skeleton suit and glider.Upon putting it on, the suit healed the damages done to his system and before Menken orders Harry Norman holds him back and lets Harry run wild.
Peter gets a call from Gwen that she is visiting while she is in the town Spider-Man sweeps her off her feet and they go to the Brooklyn Bridge and Peter tells her how much he loves her and Gwen does the same and tells him that she will plan there weekend this time until on the bridge he sees Doc Ock throwing cars off bridges as he is heading towards the powerplant and Spider-Man swings and kicks Ock but Ock's arms grabs Spider-Man's legs and throws him but he it's Otto Ocktavius and the two start fighting intesenly there battle heads into the city and Scoripion intervens as Spider-Man is fighting two Ock throws an empty car in the air and it hits an Airpalne and the plane starts falling itno the ctiy Spider-Man is able to repeatedly web the airplane high engough so it can regin air making a tired statment of why Iron Man blew up all of his suits.Mary Jane is working on Papers until she looks out the window and sees a flying Harry Osborn on his gilder and starts bombing the main hall and Mary Jane finds a desk to hide under to protect herself but Goblin sees her and stars chasing after her but she enters the OsCrop panic room the same time she gose in.The battle is then heading towards the clock tower and Doc Ock about to activate the Spider-Slayer's while fighting Spider-Man,Scropion pins him to the ground and before his tail stabs Spider-Man Gwen hits him with a car and she uses her Dads special Pistol to shoot at Doc Ock and and shoots the machine and reveals to Peter she was trained to shoot since she was a Cop's daughter and Spider-Man destroys the machines but Ock grabs Gwen and starts climbing up the clock tower with her,While Chasing after Gwen Scrpoion catches up with Spider-Man but when he gets close to the top of the tower Spider-Man Wraps a Web-Line around the Scropion's waist and kicks him off the clock tower but stops the web mid way breaking Scropion's back then he sees Dock Ock holding Gwen and drops her into the clock tower and Spider-Man saves her and puts her to the side rail while Spider-Man and Doc Ock fight Ock throws Spider-Man throws him through the hole left in the top of the clock tower and Ock arms help him leap into mid-air alongside Spider-Man and they fist fight each other as they fall Doc's arm hold him to the near top ledge of the Tower and Spider-Man makes multiple staright lines around Ock and use them to help him fight Ock to regain balance and swing kicks and he Swing Kicks Ock but his arm grabs Peter and slams him against a Wall and Gwen shoots Ock in the back and he drops along side Spider-Man and they break through the first Rail and fight on the main middle rail and while they fight Doc throws Spider-Man into the clock Current Wires (Electrical wires that help the clock hands move) and when one of Ock's arms touch a railing Gwen shoots her shock gun at the Wires which Ock's arms are on electrcuting Doc Ock and keeps shooting at him when Spider-Man kicks Ock into the amrs knocking him out and while Peter and Gwen celebrate by Singing to each other and dancing sillyish to each until They hear laughing and see it's the Green Goblin and Harry relizes it's Peter as Spider-Man and decides to take action revenge for him saying no to helping hear his farther and he takes Gwen and flys away and Spider-Man swings after her during this She ask Harry why he is doing this but he says 'Harry is dead" She still tries convincing him to Snap out of it and a little bit of Harry comes out and says he wish there was another way with a tear come out of his eye but snaps back into Goblin and Spider-Man spins a web and gets a hold onto the gilder and climbs up and he and Harry fight and Gwen drops but holds onto the floor of the gilder as they get to the bridge she slips off the gilder but Peter jumps after her and catches her but Goblin drops a bomb behind her but Peter turns in time for it to blow off half of his mask,his right hands web shooter and some of his suit but causes Gwen's arm to bleed as both fall they reach for each other's hand and right before they touch each other Goblin scoops up Gwen and Peter then swings and lands on a bridge pillar stand and Goblin above him holding Gwen,Peter begs for him to leave her alone but starts shooting his glider machine gun at Spider-Man and while Spider-Man is avoiding them Goblin drops Gwen then fly's off and when Peter tries reaching for her while she is at an apporitpte height a bullet hits Peter's left webshooter and messes up his webs aim at Gwen and it gose and hits Goblin's face messing him up and before Gwen hits the water Peter puts a hand on his now damged webshooter to straighten the web and catches her but when he pulls her up he sees her try to say his name but her neck starts bleeding seeing that her Neck's Snapped,at first starts crying but then that truns into anger as the Goblin tries flying away but Spider-Man shoots his web at Goblin's back and flings him all the way back to the clock tower and gose to fight Goblin they fight grounded until Goblin slams Spider-Man to the ground and takes out his bomb and before he shoves it into Spider-Man's maks he webs it under them due to the webshooter malfuctioning and blows up blowing both of them into the mid-air due to the explosion Spider-Man webs a large Clock screw and flings it into Goblins face and before Spider-Man kills Harry,Doc Ock comes back and they fight until Spider-Man throws Doc to the floor of the clock tower but the rail breaks making Spider-Man fall down and Spider-Man aims at a wall to save himself but his webs mess up and grabs the Clock Glass and peices fall down with him and Doc cutting both of them and almost killing Doc but his Arms save Doc but he then is knocked out before Spider-Man can climb back Goblin drops Three bombs but Spider-Man survives and when he has an opeing to kill Harry but decides not to.
Peter is at Gwen's grave then 4 months pass and Peter has visted her Grave everyday since until Mary Jane comes and ask Peter why he keeps comign and to at least try getting over her until Peter Lashes out at her during this reveals that he is Spider-Man and saying "You would not care even if your mother died" and Mary Jane is about to leave after that since her mother actually died but decides not to. MJ tells Peter she is gonna stay and then Peter looks deeply into her eye's and she does the same and she says "Face it tiger you just hit the Jackpot" and Peter and her Kiss and then Peter gose and looks at his damged suit and repairs and get's back the motavation to become Spider-Man again Norman Osborn is now CEO of Oscorp once again and has everythig back to normal as he is no longer dying but has became insane. Peter then becomes Spider-Man again and the film ends with him trying to stop Black Cat and this time not going to let her get away as the films ends with a shot of Spider-Man deflecting multiple bullets to just about to web Black Cat.
The Mid-credits then shows Norman bailing out Doc, Harry and Mac Gargan. Before they re-enter the underground lab he takes Mac's blood and snaps Mac's neck killing him. It is shown the projects as Doc and Harry are both 2 of the 6 showing. The others are an Exo-skelton of a Vulture Wings, a Bionacal Rhino Suit, A Glass of Electical Elis, and a Box full of Magic of somesort. Norman ask Harry which one should they send first and Harry says "I want to see Sparks fly" later saying "Dad this is gonna be Sinister"

- Logan Lerman as Peter Parker/Spider-Man: An orphaned teenage boy who received amazing spider-powers after being bitten by a genetically altered spider. Peter first uses his powers to try to hunt down the killer of his uncle in The Spectacular Spider-Man but soon decides to use his powers to fight crime as the vigilante known as Spider-Man. Logan explained that the suit that he would wear in the film would undergo a new design. Lerman hoped to bring back the theme of him being an orphan stating, "I wanna keep exploring that theme of being fatherless, being motherless, searching for purpose and finding a purpose within himself". He felt that it was a responsibility to take on the role and that he does not take it lightly
- Emma Roberts as Gwen Stacy: Peter Parker met Gwen while they were undergraduates at Empire State University. Initially, Peter's problems as Spider-Man made him ignore her advances, and in return, she felt insulted by his aloofness. Gradually, however, a romance developed. Gwen, a science major, seemed to appreciate Peter's intellectual personality, different from that of jocks like Flash Thompson and preppies like Harry Osborn. She was Peter Parker's first true love.
- Marton Csokas as Otto Ocktavius/Doctor Ocktpus: Otto Octavius created mechanical tentacles to aid him with his nuclear work. After a lab explosion left him hospitalized, Otto awoke to find himself able to telepathically control them, Otto realized that with his new ability, and his already great intellect, he could be the best there is.
- Freddie Higmore as Harry Osborn/Green Goblin: Harry Osborn was the son of wealthy industrialist, Norman Osborn, the original Green Goblin. He went to the same college as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man. They were roommates for a time, during which Harry encountered occasional problems with drugs. When his father died, Harry found the body and removed the costume.
- Sam Witwer as Scropoin/Mac Gargan: Former private investigator Mac Gargan was hired by J. Jonah Jameson to find out how Peter Parker was able to get incredible pictures of Spider-Man. Gargan's efforts to locate Peter in order to find out the truth triggered Parker's spider sense, making him easily avoidable every time. Frustrated, Jameson decided to pay $10,000 to Gargan to be the subject of an experiment. The experiment, created by Dr. Farley Stillwell, a researcher in animal mutation, which endowed the subject with the characteristic of another animal. Unfortunately the process resulted in the loss of Gargan's sanity, and the creation of the super-powered criminal menace known as the Scorpion.
- Holland Roden as Mary Jane Watson: After her mother Madeline left Philip, the Watson women stayed with various relatives. One such relative that MJ was particularly fond of was her Aunt Anna, living in Queens, New York. On the night of Ben Parker's murder, MJ spotted a frantic Peter running into his house with Spider-Man emerging from an upstairs windows only moments later. At this she deduced that Peter Parker and Spider-Man were one and the same. Confused by the emotions set off by the discovery, she chose to keep this information to herself. Dreaming of a career in either Broadway or film, MJ starred in high school productions such as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, as Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire and in other various plays and productions.
- Jake Abel as Eddie Brock: Brock is a journalist who exposes the identity of a serial killer only for the real killer to be caught by Spider-Man, Brock having accused the wrong man. Disgraced and suicidal, Brock comes into contact with an alien Symbiote, rejected by Peter Parker. The Symbiote bonds with Brock becoming Venom and together they seek out revenge against their mutual enemy. Though Brock repeatedly comes into conflict with Spider-Man, he also attempts to operate as a hero, albeit a violent one, seeking to save those he deems "innocent". In 2008, after being separated from the Venom Symbiote, Brock gains a new Symbiote and becomes the anti-hero Anti-Venom. Sometime later he loses the Anti-Venom symbiot and gains control of the lonely Toxin Symbiot.
- J.K Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson: Jameson is usually the publisher or editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, a fictional New York newspaper and now serves as the mayor of New York City. Recognizable by his mustache, flattop haircut, and ever-present cigar, he carries out a smear campaign against Spider-Man that has, at least temporarily, turned much of the gullible city against the hero. He employs photojournalist Peter Parker, who, unbeknownst to Jameson, is Spider-Man's alter ego.
- Ben Whishaw as Alistair Smythe: Alistair Smythe was the son of Spencer Smythe, inventor of the Spider-Slayers - a series of robots designed to destroy Spider-Man. The initial generation of Spider-Slayers were created by Alistair's father and commissioned by J. Jonah Jameson. After Spencer failed to kill Spider-Man - and ended up getting destroyed as a result - Alistair inherited the legacy from his father and gained a new-found hatred toward Spider-Man. He initially worked for the Kingpin but left in disagreement over how to deal with Spider-Man and went solo.
- Lawernce Fishburne as Robbie Robertson: Joseph "Robbie" Robertson worked the Daily Bugle years before Peter Parker's employment, and is seen often arguing with J. Jonah Jameson (as Ben Urich sides with Robbie).

- Bryan Cranston as Norman Osborn: Although many have taken up this identity, he is the original and most well-known Green Goblin. Originally an amoral industrialist head of Oscorp and Harry Osborn's father, he took a serum which enhanced his physical abilities and intellect but also drove him to insanity. He adopted a Halloween-themed appearance, dressing in a goblin costume, riding on a bat-shaped "Goblin Glider", and using an arsenal of high-tech weapons, notably grenade-like "Pumpkin Bombs", to terrorize New York City.
- Colton Haynes as Flash Thompson: He is a star high school football player who mercilessly bullies Peter Parker. On the other hand, he greatly admires Spider-Man, an irony in which the superhero takes some gratification. After graduation, he joins the United States Army and is haunted by his combat experiences, leading to alcoholism. He was entered in, voluntarily into operation Rebirth 2.0 where he was given the Venom symbiot and thus became Agent Venom.
- Julianne Moore as Aunt May: May and Ben Parker took in their nephew Peter after the death of his parents and raised him. Ben immediately took to the role of the boy's father but May was at first reluctant. She still remembered her parents blaming her own birth for the destruction of their marriage, and she was afraid that Peter might signal the end of her own marriage. In time, however, she warmed up to Peter, who unexpectedly strengthened the couple's marriage. After Ben's death, life became a struggle with money problems and Peter did his best to help.
- Emma Bell as Betty Brandat: Betty dropped out of high school in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania to become a secretary of the Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. There she met Peter Parker when he became a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle. After they had been attacked by the Vulture, Peter had already noticed his attraction to Betty, and was impressed when she stood up to J. Jonah Jameson over publishing slandering articles against Spider-Man.

- Kristen Stewart as Felica Hardy/Black Cat: Felicia Hardy was trained by her father (a world-renowned cat burglar) to become a great athlete. After a traumatic experience as a college freshman, Felicia trained herself to become highly skilled and an expert of martial arts and acrobatics. When her father was imprisoned, she decided to follow in his footsteps and use her abilities to become The Black Cat. In the first night of her costumed identity she encountered the lone hero Spider-Man. She felt as if she could trust him and changed sides so he could trust her too. They developed a relationship where Black Cat and Spider-man mutually loved one another. After they broke up, they remain as lovers from time to time.

The sequel's villain was teased in the 2012 film and Iron Man 3. Vaughn stated that the origin story would further unfold in the second installment. In June 2012, Vaughn said he was unsure whether he would return, though it was confirmed on September 28, 2012, that he would return to direct the sequel. He claimed he "wanted to create a universe that not only can withstand but anticipate future storylines" while also "working in and of itself for one movie." Logan Lerman had also expressed hope to reprise his role, and in September 2012, it was confirmed that he would do so by siging a new contract meaning he would be in 6 Marvel Cinematic films. Emma Roberts was later confirmed to be reprising her role as Gwen Stacy, having signed a contract for two Spectacular Spider-Man sequels. Holland Roden was also to reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson in the film and signed a new deal to appear in 4 Marvel Cinematic films meaning a possible cross-over for her. Actor J. K. Simmons was confirmed to play J.Jonah Jameson in the sequel. In October 2012 Doc Ock was rumored as the next villain. Marton Csokas was coming back to repirse Otto Octavius, who would become Doc Ock. That December, Hugh Laruie and Bryan Cranston were both confirmed to reprise there roles and Sam Witer was confrimed to be playing Scorpion in the film. On December 3, 2012, Mattew Vaughn revealed that Freddie Higmore was chosen to play Harry Osborn. Kristen Stewart confirmed her involvement with the movie under an undisclosed role. Cranston and Csokas also indicated in an October 2013 interview that they would return in The Spectacular Spider-Man 3 as well.

On February 4, 2013, Matthew Vaughn posted on his Twitter account that principal photography had begun and that the sequel was being shot on 35mm film in the anamorphic format, instead of being filmed digitally as the preceding film was. Marvel revealed this would be the first Spider-Man film to be filmed entirely in New York State, including a car-chase scene that was filmed in Rochester because the speed laws are less restrictive in upstate New York. It became the largest film production ever in New York State. Emma Roberts and Logan Lermanwere wearing graduation uniforms (their characters graduated from high school in the film). On June 25, Vaughn posted on his Twitter account that filming was completed. Sound stage work was done at Grumman Studios and Gold Coast Studios, both in Bethpage, New York, and at the at Marcy Armory in Brooklyn. In a behind the scene feature said that to capture a more realistic Webswinging motion they had stunt double,Kenny Reeves do some webswinging in the studio and Some non-computer generated swinging but Logan Lerman go to do three one of which when he had a harness attached to his back and jumps of a building for him to grab a rope and swing to the nearest building they added the other string which they later animated to be Spider-Man shooting a web and they altered his grabbing of the rope to him flicking his wrist upward as if shooting from the shooters,They continued to do that for Reeves as well.

On July 20, 2013, Vaughn announced that Henry Jackson would be re-composing the music for the film On October 25, 2013, Justin Timberlake revealed to Billboard that he would co-compose the score with Jackson. Vaughn and Jackson formed a supergroup called The Magnificent Six with Timberlake, Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger and former Eurythmic David A. Stewart to create the music for the sequel. The soundtrack for the film was released on April 22, 2014 by Columbia Records and Madison Gate Records which Sony agreed to distribute the films music.Jackson described his work for this movie to be different from previous works that he did, thus revealing one of the themes for the movie, which was first heard on the website. On March 31, 2014, a track called "The Spectacular Spider-Man" was uploaded to Soundcloud. It was A cover of the Theme of 2008's Spectacular Spider-Man TV Show which had the voicals by Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z. Via Twitter, Timberlake announced the song and credited Jackson,Jay-Z and himself for the song, and he included a hashtag saying "TSS2", indicating the song is part of the soundtrack. On April 3,2014,another song called "Doctor Death"was uploaded to iTunes.It had the voicals of Macklmore and Bruno Mars.on Instagram Mackelmore posted a photo of him,Timberlake,Jackson,Mars and O' Brien and annoounced that the song was gonna be on the soundtrack of the moive continuing the Hashtag "TSS2"

On May 8, 2013, Disney revealed a Poster of Spider-Man swining with Green dust around him. Fans were speculating that the image indicated the Green Goblin will appear again. A day later, the offical Title card of the film with Green dust appeared once more.
On July 17, 2013, Marvel released a clip from the film with the first released footage of Marton Csokas as Doctor Octopus to encourage attendance at their panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International. At the panel, they premiered a four-minute trailer, which was publicly released with the end of the trailer showing Peter shooting a web down a bridge, making fans think that it is the scene where Gwen dies in. Viral marketing for the film included a version of the Daily Bugle on the blogging service Tumblr and on Instagram, which included references to Kate Cushing, Detective Stan Carter, The Avengers, Guardians of The Galaxy, S.H.I.E.L.D, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Ant-Man, Black Panther, HYDRA, the "Big Man", Izzy Bunsen, Joy Mercado, Donald Menken, the Vulture, Hydro-Man, Spencer Smythe, Ned Leeds, Anne Weying, J. Jonah Jameson, Shocker, Alistair Smythe, Doctor Octopus, Eddie Brock, The Enforcers and Puma.
Dylan O' Brien tweeted a photo of Chris Hemswroth holding a Spider-Man toy revealing that the first trailer would debut prior to 3D screenings of Thor: The Dark World.
In August 2013, Kevin Feige, Logan Lerman, Emma Roberts, Stan Lee and Thomas Sangster presented a clip of the film, showing Peter giving J. Jonah Jameson a picture at Disney's D23 Expo.'
In January 2014, Disney announced that in honor of the film, Spider-Man would be making appearances at Disneyland. The meet and greet experience opened Febuary 7, 2014 and is called Spider-Man's "Friendly" Neighborhood, located at Innoventions in Tomorrowland. Also in January, Marvel Comics released a prelude tie-in digital comic titled, Marvel's Spectacuclar Spider-Man: Stark Industries, written by Peter David, with art by Rock-He Kim. The comic sees Peter Parker meeting Tony Stark after winning a contest and there Hammerhead attacks Stark industries, so Peter becomes Spider-Man to stop him.
On December 8, 2013, it was announced that new footage from the film would be presented during New Year's Eve festivities at New York City's Times Square. The film was further promoted during the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) "Earth Hour" campaign. The cast was present at the launch of the 2014 event in Singapore. Disney Consumer Products announced a merchandise product line for the film at the American International Toy Fair on February 17, 2014.
In March 2014, Gameloft and Marvel announced the launch of a tie-in game of the same name for consoles, smartphones and tablets. Kellogg's released an application featuring the film.
The first televised advertisement for The Spectacular Spider-Man aired during Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2, 2014. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney paid over $4 million per 30-second spot. The Los Angeles Times said, "The clip promoting the April 4 release had a recognizably melancholy tone as Peter Parker is going to find a delima between his job of being Spider-Man and Parker. Evian serves as a promotional partner of the film.
On April 1, 2014, the brand released an advertisement "The Amazing Baby & Me 2" featuring Spider-Man and a baby version of him, as a follow-up to their original "Baby & Me" campaign.
The film partnered with NBCUniversal for advertising. Spots for the film appeared on Bravo, E!, USA, Syfy, Telemundo and mun2 and a customized page was created on Fandango.
The release of the film in the United Kingdom was pushed forward to April 25, 2014, two days ahead of its original April 25 date. Deadline reported that, in addition to the production budget, the film's marketing budget was $180–190 million.
In May 2014, Marvel announced that Spider-Man's costume from the film would be available within Marvel: Avengers Alliance.

The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 received critical acclaim. Based on 248 reviews collected by review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 has a 84% overall approval rating from critics, with an average score of 8.1 out of 10. The site's consensus states: "With a Standout, young and visible cast, top-notch effects and excellent directing makes this film one Marvel's best films yet. Though with at times slanted narrative, unneeded and stiff villains, the film recovers through the second half of the writing". Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 77out of 100 based on 54 reviews, with an average user score of 8.2/10. CinemaScore audiences gave The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 an "A" grade rating on an A+ to F scale.
Chicago Tribune's Mark Caro stated that Sam Witner's Scorpion is "Unneeded, but Memorable" and called Marton Csoka's Doc Ock a "Rushed, but effective Villain" also stating that "Peter's love triangle in the film adds a new depth to Marvel's ever-growing film series. Lerman, Roberts and Roden all help add that dimension, alongside Highmore's role as Harry, that was a Standout character and almost as good as Hiddleston as Loki". Kenneth Turan, of the Los Angeles Times, gave the film a 3.5 out of 5 "Through the film has some characters who if not in the film it would not change, though Lerman 's performance alongside Roberts' was amazing. The writing and storytelling in the second part of the film was amazing feeling as if a new film, alongside Sangster's performance". Scott Foundas of Variety said it is "One of Marvel's finest films, it improves the form the first film with better effects, acting and, in the second half saves itself from doom with a whole new and better writting and storytelling. Some stiff and rushed villains, however,Highmore's performance saves the villain category". Leslie Felperin of The Hollywood Reporter said: "Highmore's performance was amazing as he is able to make Harry an hero to antagonist through the whole film, minus Spidey and the other characters the film would still be worth watching same as Abel's role as a new diverse role for Brock who is intreging more than he has been in recent comics and Lerman's and Roberts chemistry also help along with adding a triangle with Roden's performance as Mary Jane but with Some unneeded villains but effective and some much drama helps expand and revolutionize the Marvel Cinematic Universe".
IGN's Richard George felt 'Sangster was the "Heath Ledger of the film, and alongside the acting of Lerman's love Triangle between Roberts and Roden which did not dissapoint and the beautiful chemestry of Lerman's and Roberts relationship is cut half to improve on and expand Peter's relations with Harry, Jane and Aunt May which makes the film better along with Eddie Brock's new role in the Spidy mythos helps add to the mystery of the Universe, but criticized some characters added to the film, that had no effect at all in the film and with some rushed villians on paper the film looks stuffed, but the lenght of the film helps make it pass as one of Spider-Man's best flicks." Tim Robey of The Telegraph said "Use of Menken, Norman and Symthe take up time but the length of the film helps with awesome Acting, Effects and Writing makes sure the villians do not drag down the film". Simon Reynolds of Digital Spy said eter's past, present and future all intertaine in a sequel that offers bang for your buck. That said you can't help feel the franchise bean counters at work here thanks to all the ominous foreshadowing and unresolved character arcs. Too many cooks and all that..."
Richard Roeper gave the film a B+, stating that "It's about 20 minutes too long and it's overstuffed with too many characters and too many subplots, but there's enough good stuff in The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 to ward optimism about the next chapter of the franchise". Leslie Felperin of The Hollywood Reporter said, "The eponymous hero hits his super-heroic stride here, as does Logan Lerman in the role, especially when Spider-Man's alter ego Peter Parker learns there's always some fine print in a contract with this many benefits. The plot gets itself tangled up in multiple villain strands, but in the main, this installment is emotionally weightier and more satisfying than its predecessor."

The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 grossed $9.7 million on its early Thursday night showings It finished its opening weekend in first place with an estimated $102 million, $37 million more than the opening weekend gross of the first film. As of May 18, 2014, the film has grossed a worldwide total of $733 million.Brooks Barnes of The New York Times said, "Revenue climbed primarily because studios crammed an unusually large number of big-budget releases into theaters, but these giants also cannibalized one another, leading to a series of megaflops, led by “The Lone Ranger.”" Outside North America, The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 opened on April 16, 2014 to $2.73 million in UK and to $190,000 in Belgium, while opening to $1.44 million in Australia and $1.11 million in Germany.The film's release in India is the biggest opening weekend of all time for a Hollywood title. In China, the film was played on 11,002 screens, which is the biggest release of any film in history. The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 was released by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment on Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D On September 8,2014 and digital download on August 6,2014 in North America.These releases contain footage of Weta Workshop's making of the design in the film such as Spider-Man's suit, Goblin's make up and suit, Doc Ock tentacles and more ninety-minute behind-the-scenes documentary for the film along and a "Making of A Spider" feature, which is a shown making of certain films which is worth 60 minutes with UltraViolet download. Other special features include "Who did it better?", which is a comparison of Spider-Man 2 and The Spectacular Spider-Man 2 which shows three different people comparing as the first is Director Sam Rami and director Mattew Vaughn the second Tobey Maguire and Logan and then James Franco and Freddie Highmore. The discs also contain audio commentary from Mattew Vaughn, Avi Arad,Logan Lerman, Freddie Highmore and Emma Roberts. The deleted scenes included foucsed more on Peter's delima and Harry's slow dismeise. The Blu-ray/DVD combo pack contains three disks and also contains a second screen app for the IPad. On November 21, 2014 Disney will release A Blu-Ray of both films in the film series featuring the Spectacular Spider-Man 1 and 2.
Sequels & Spinoffs[]
On January 9,2013 Disney announced a Third and Fourth film as they are unsure when Spider-Man will appear in another heroes film, possibly meaning an appearence alongside The Avengers. On July 16, 2013 Logan Lerman signed a deal to work on 6 films with only two announced along with Thomas Sangster and Bryan Cra which them both signed for 4 more films. Mattew Vaughn is signed on for a Thrid and Fourth Film. Vaughn told Entertainment Weekly that the Third film will focus on Peter moving on with Mary Jane and Gwen and starts doubting Spider-Man's effect on New York. The Third film is set release July 7, 2016 and a Fourth June 19, 2017.
