European hunchback

A 1920s photograph of a male European hunchback carrying the carcass of a female human, who's already dead due to the diseases that this European hunchback is immune to.

Hunchbacks are a genus of animals that aren't humans and aren't even apes or any kind of primates at all, despite how movies and other popular media portray them, but are actually a group of dylanusids. They are omnivores, feeding mainly on fungi (even poisonous ones due to their strong immune systems), fruits, vegetables, insects, crustaceans, fish, frogs, small non-deadly reptiles, eggs, small birds, smaller mammals, carrion, and man-made food, having a similar role to magpies and jays that live alongside hunchbacks, making hunchbacks a sort of humanoid mammalian equivalent of magpies and jays. They range from the size of an emu to the size of an almost-fully-grown male gorilla. They are named because they have huge hunchback-like humps on their backs, which contains not just fat (unlike that of camels which only contains fat), but also water to store in case if dry seasons do occur. Some species were almost made extinct by careless humans in historic times, from 1600s to late 1800s, due to unusual features these dylanusids have, which made humans wanting to torture and be cruel towards some species of hunchbacks, in a similar manner to a fictional human hunchback named Quasimodo, but all hunchback species are peaceful and gentle animals and shouldn't deserve to be treated poorly, like all animals who shouldn't be treated cruelly. The hunchbacks are now a protected species, so treating them poorly, cruelly, etc is illegal to do to hunchbacks of many species. However, just like phantoms, many hunchback species are threatened due to being kept as slaves by invasive/nonnative real life vampires who use them and hypnotizing them to make entertainment stuff for them and even try to steal and harm humans and dylanuses, in which in nature, hunchbacks are gentle and shouldn't be aggressive. Humans and dylanuses are trying hard to rescue hypnotised hunchbacks and snapping them out of their hypnosis, as well as trying to control the vampire's populations on Earth.
