Channel History (1989 to 2015)

Thirteen years after TBS was launched, a kids block called TBS Kids had aired (from 1989 to 1995) with cartoons from the 50s to the 80s (then the 90s in 1993) like Rocky and Bullwinkle, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, Thomas the Tank Engine (Season 1 to Season 4), and Tiny Toon Adventures had aired on the channel. Cartoons that originally aired on CBS and NBC, like The Pink Panther had a laugh track. The block had a host who was a cartoon girl with orange skin, a red and white-striped shirt, and purple hair called Gina, with her blue pet dog called Spotty. She was host until December 30th, 1995 when the block ended. The block ran from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On March 5th, 1994, the first March Marathon aired. The marathon aired cartoons on every weekend on March. The first marathon was Happy Toon Day which aired on Saturday with episodes from Tiny Toon Adventures and Looney Tunes. Every year, the marathon ran from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. After 11 months and 27 days after the block ended, a 24/7 channel with the block's same name had launched. On August 10th 1998, the first movie to air on the channel was The Rescuers. In 1996, the new host was an elephant who lives at the TBS Zoo named Frank. He had a bunch of friends at the zoo including a parrot named Loud-Squawk, a lion named Charles, a zebra named Hank, and a camel named Humphrey, a manatee named Manny, a monkey named Larry, a grey wolf named Sly, and a giraffe named Tom. Gina's purple hair was lighter and her shoes were green, when in the block her shoes were red. Spotty's tail was a little shorter. In summer 2005, TBS Tots aired on the channel. The pre-school block ran from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. It aired programs like Little Bill, The Book of Pooh, and Pocoyo.
