Subs is an American animated comedy surreal web series created by Poppy Livingston, who has worked on many projects on The CC (Cartoon Comedy) before. This is the first TV show she has ever created. The complete series, comprised of 17 shorts, aired in its entirety on April 12, 2018, on the channel's app, The CC APP.
Eleanor's (Nika Futterman) Spanish teacher (Carlos Alazraqui) always seems to be absent, so in his place are multiple substitute teachers who are all wacky in their own way.
- Eleanor (Nika Futterman) - A tomboyish girl whose Spanish teacher is always absent and replaced with some seriously strange substitute teachers.
- Mr. Ramirez (Carlos Alazraqui) - Eleanor's Spanish teacher who's always absent and replaced with multiple yet odd substitute teachers. He made his only appearance in the 17th episode.
The show's production was somewhere around 2016. Each episode took around a month to animate, as explained by Livingston in an interview.
The theme song was composed and performed by American-Canadian indie rock band Honorable Todd & His Squires.

|Eleanor's Spanish class has a substitute teacher, the 106-year old Mr. Oldman (Ed Asner), whose Alzheimer's diagnosis and hearing loss makes it difficult for class to proceed normally. It is revealed he is immortal as he drinks the elixir of life, which rejuvenates him and cures him daily of his health problems. When Eleanor gets thirsty and accidentally downs the potion, she becomes immortal in exchange for Mr. Oldman's death right there in the classroom.|

|The newest substitute teacher, Mrs. Chuck (Kate McKinnon), is goofy and performs tricks instead of teaching the class. She turns out to be a former clown who was fired for being too "unfunny", and is therefore not allowed to perform or entertain anymore. The police eventually come and arrest her, putting an end to her tricks.|

|Spanish class becomes more confusing than ever for Eleanor and her classmates with the arrival of Miss Heard (Amy Sedaris), whose voice can barely be heard more than a whisper. The whole class then turns on its own head after they claim to hear Miss Heard ordering them to be "chaotic", when she really meant for them to be more "quiet". She gives up and quits substituting the class, but no one pays attention and she announces this in her accustomed whispering.|

|The students are whipped into shape by their Spanish class' latest substitute teacher, Mister Orders (R. Lee Ermey), a former sergeant, whose strict opposition against rule breaking and no-nonsense method of running the class scare the entire class into being more obedient. When Mister Orders ends up breaking a rule himself, however, the students learn what Orders had taught them and report him to the principal's office.
Note: As of April 15, 2018, this is episode is still available on The CC APP, but now includes a tribute at the end to R. Lee Ermey, who died on the same day aged 74.

|Eleanor's classroom gets chewed on by their newest sub, the strict, long-and-wrinkle-faced Miss Long (Anjelica Houston), who sends kids to the office for even the tiniest offense they commit. She eventually gets hospitalized after her long face gets even longer and causes immobility for her.|

|The newest substitute teacher, Mr. Short (J.P. Karliak), is a dwarf of such diminutive stature that he has to stand on the teacher's desk during lectures. After he attempts to retrieve worksheets from the school's computer lab, he goes missing and is immediately declared dead in absentia.|

|The Spanish classroom receives a new substitute teacher, Mrs. Kidman (Eden Sher), who is, figuratively, a kid, which is due to a developmental disorder. She is quickly recovered by her mother, who reveals out of the woodwork that Mrs. Kidman actually escaped from her house, and was not meant to be their substitute teacher at all.|

|This new substitute teacher, Miss Blank (Jessica DiCicco), scares everyone due to her blank, featureless face, and it causes Eleanor and her classmates to invade any other classroom without Miss Blank. She eventually leaves "on sabbatical" to get plastic surgery that'll add features to her face.|

|Gentle giant Mr. Deep (Kevin Michael Richardson)'s deep, booming voice, is somehow the target of ridicule by all the students who believe that his voice is unauthentic and unconvincing. Due to his amiable nature, he tries to dismiss the bullying until he can't take it anymore and yells really loudly for the bullying to stop, losing his voice and causing his firing.|
