Once Marvel found out that their idea involved transforming one of the best video games of 2018 into a game-to-film adaptation, the studio went dead silent for months, giving their unlucky nature with games in the past. It wasn't until AFTER principal photography for Doctor Strange 2 ended that Marvel came back at SONY with a response. Marvel Studios AGREED to help SONY take on the project, with the president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige throwing in a curveball saying that if the film based off the game suffered worse than the game itself, they would FULLY get the rights back to Spider-Man 100%. SONY was hesitant but alas, they agreed on the decision and principal photography began shortly before the beginning of Phase 5.

A black widow spider dangles it's web, crafting, taking its time descending down from the window of an apartment in the Chinatown district of Manhattan. Right outside the windowsill lies a discarded and messy apartment in ruins: Keyboard circuits amiss. Dirty clothes. Dusty cabinets. Coffee mugs, old pizza boxes, old Chinese takeout.

Tossing it over in the bed, he clips on both his web shooters before zipping the toast over. Chowing down on fresh toast with no hands free, he was left jumping into his suit feet first and shrugging the advanced red, black and silver outfit like a pair of overalls. Very sloppy the suit looked at first, soggy and hanging everywhere, even after he unplugs the mask from the USB port, turning it outside-in.

It isn't until he places the mask on that the outfit starts to resemble itself together. Slapping the logo on his chest the suit quickly fastens itself wrapping skintight around Peter's skin locking everything in place thanks to it's vacuum seal; compressing the suit to appear as though he is wearing nothing underneath

Peter gets out of the way and launches an onslaught of punches and kicks, none of which faze the giant. His hands generate with energy, swinging and missing with each punch and big boot he sluggishly attempts to throw before stomping down to release a shockwave as synchronizing nano-mesh particles release devastating negative energy.

But the blatantly obvious is unfortunately what mattered at this moment: Miles will never see his father again. Peter lost both his parents, his Uncle Ben and most tragically, Tony Stark. The last thing he wanted was for what happened to him to happen to Miles.</p>

I've watched countless of people close to me, good, innocent, wholesome people die on my watch ever since I was 14. The memories are traumatic and they never go away but you can find hope again. Peter heard the hang up knowing Yuri means business when she's like this.

MJ: Hey....so....how you feeling?

Peter: I feel like I screwed up, And that kid lost his father. I can't even believe it was Mr. Li who did it. He had a good heart at F.E.A.S.T. even Aunt May looked up to him. How could he do something some horrible?! WHY would he do this?!

  +
The tone for the rest of the day was rather murky, both in temperature measuring around close to 80 degrees and the weather as the cumulonimbus clouds rolled over the sky contemplating between drizzling or pouring down buckets of precipitation. For the latter of the moment, it was only a slight drizzle which made didn't make it easier for Peter to get over the real drizzle sprinkling through his mind. He failed at protecting an ally close to him, just like he did with his Uncle Ben. Just like he did with Tony Stark. And as long as both of their shadows rested heavily on his shoulders, it continued to bite at him.

MJ: Peter.....sometimes people change into something so awful. Even Mr. Li had it hard as a kid. And who knows how long he held on to his hate. So I think it's just a question if the real Martin Li you and Aunt May knew was even there before.

Peter: Yeah but either way I should have been more active something told me I didn't really catch the leader. Fisk was right. These terrorists have nothing holding them back thanks to me.

His responsibility to protect Jeff let alone the people at his celebration cost more than just HIS life and he couldn't help but feel as if Spider-Man's reputation would change forever. MJ: What were you suppose to do? Let him keep Godfathering the whole city?

But at least, there's no worrying about whether or not she's sneaking out and about again. "Thanks for the ride" was all Mary Jane could muster to say, without having to astutely dissect Peters body language and tear down his defenses.

Didn’t take too long for Spidey to find but it wasn’t exactly a cakewalk. The entrance door grate was embedded with a high security lock which meant barging through was out of the question. What was in question was ''Why does this have a high security lock? Banks normally have this''.

At least that’s what Peter thought to himself. Spider-Man: Well funny you're you're still in here Willie. With everything going on out there.
  +
  +
Kingpin: They were afraid to let me out. I even rather wait for my parole.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: That may not happen anytime soon. Even with the repairs they may have to do later.
  +
  +
Kingpin: Well...you may not have to worry about that....for now.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: And what you said in one month I'll wish I had you back you can say "I told you so." all you want but there wasn't gonna be any other outcome aside from where you're at now.
  +
  +
  +
Kingpin: And yet boy it never stays that way. How long do you plan to brush aside the realization that the statue quo will go either way? The weak will be purged and the strongest will survive. Tonight will demonstrate that affirmation and it appears you are the only criminal here Parker.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeah. Wasn't the first time I heard that. Well sorry to cut this catchup short Willie but....I got an overload battery to catch. See yah.
  +
  +
  +
Spidey web zipped as Fisk chuckled still not turning his head and smirked widely
  +
  +
Kingpin: Boy.....you'll see me sooner than you think.
  +
  +
  +
Pete later came across more secured doors and as he barely pulled them open his senses went off again and large ruble was thrown at the door Pete dodged it just to see another old enemy through the broken doors
  +
  +
Rhino (Oleg Taktarov): Hope you like surprise Spider! Cause you're in for your last!
  +
  +
  +
Rhino ran smashing through the other secured doors and as Spidey fallowed him Karen quoted "In coming call from Yuri Watanabe"
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Accept.
  +
  +
  +
'''Spider-Man what's your status?'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Honestly trapped in a prison with every criminal I've put away in the past eight years. Fisk is still in his cell so he's not behind this but...
  +
  +
All of a sudden Pete was grabbed by a large green titanium tail and pulled up to a third familiar enemy who was from his freshman year Mac Gargen (Michael Mando) AKA the Scorpion
  +
  +
  +
Scorpion: Spider-Man. This is too good to be true.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Long time Mac. Hey can you hold on a minute? I was in the middle of an important phone call and it was business.
  +
  +
  +
Luckily the wall exploded which got Pete free from Scorpion's grip but he saw his tail flowing through the door he came in but feeling he needed to catch up to Electro first he pressed on the trail fighting more inmates and getting through more debree till he came on a roof where Electro himself was hovering in the air
  +
  +
Electro: Come on Spider-Man. I thought this was a chase not a freaken walk in the park!
  +
  +
  +
He flew off and Spider-Man tried web swinging after him but all of a sudden he was snatched and flew up by his FIRST enemy since after the civil war against Captian America
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Adrian?!?!?!
  +
  +
Vulture (Michael Keaton): Hiya Pete! Long time no see. I really missed you kid and love to have fun catching up but----
  +
  +
  +
Before the old bird could finish his sentence Spidey shot webs in his face and dropped down to get on to Electro's trail again
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Sorry old timer. No time to catching up just yet.
  +
  +
  +
'''Peter. I got another text from Yuri. She's manage to get the security camera's back on line.'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: How does it look?
  +
  +
  +
'''To be 50 percent honest it looks like the entire population of the Raft has escaped. And Martin Li has been spotted on a chopper with an unidentified figure. Which means FIVE of your worst of your worst enemies are now loose. And maybe six if this new figure is an ally to Li.'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Uh...hehehehe...for a second Karen I thought you were serious.
  +
  +
  +
'''I AM serious.'''
  +
  +
  +
Soon Electro landed on another part of the prison's roof where Pete landed to confront him
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Electro stop!
  +
  +
Electro: Stop? Oh Spider-Man I'm hurt. Aren't you at least gonna compliment my new suit?
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Yeah it's dashing. Where'd you get it?
  +
  +
Electro: Tell you the truth man it's an exclusive club.
  +
  +
  +
Vulture flew in out of no where behind Electro and Rhino came jumping stomping on the flour roaring and running at Pete but then he leaped over him shooting a web line at Adrian and threw him towards Alex but then another chopper flew in and it was Mr. Negative on it and he BLASTED at Spidey but he dodged it only to counter Scorpion's tale and leap over him only to get tossed back to the center with Li jumping off the helicopter with the other villain's surrounding our hero
  +
  +
  +
Soon as Pete found himself surrounded by ALL his first and latest enemies they approached him with grudges and Toombs raised his hand to signal their attention
  +
  +
  +
Vulture: Remember! He said NOT to kill him!
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Good idea. In fact we don't have to do this if you don't want to. We can just order Eddie's pizza or catch the David Mazouz Batman movie?
  +
  +
  +
Rhino: No! We definitely want to!
  +
  +
  +
Rhino charges throwing a fist but Pete catches it catches it only to get slapped off by Scorpion's tale Vulture flies at him but Pete kicks him off and he swings over to the near by power tower and drops on Gargen only to get grabbed by Vulture
  +
  +
Vulture: Listen to me kid! You need to get out of here.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Sorry Ad. Not gonna happen!
  +
  +
  +
He punches him off landing on his feet only....to get STUNG from behind by Scorpion
  +
  +
  +
Vulture: NO!!!
  +
  +
Vulture recovered and for some reason pushed Scorpion away as Pete fell to the ground to the edge and then.....
  +
  +
  +
.....he felt his hands grabbed by something strong.....
  +
  +
.....he looked to see them grabbed by...…
  +
  +
  +
......the SAME familiar metal brand tentacles from earlier he looked up and saw......
  +
  +
  +
...an old friend. The doctor was in the house and someone was about to get treated.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Dr. Octavius....
  +
  +
  +
Ock: First and final warning.
  +
  +
  +
Peter could feel the metallic claw grip and squeeze around his head before being slammed downwards onto the concrete and knocking him woozy. It made lifting him up a lot easier for the former doctor as he stared menacingly at his former student and protege.
  +
  +
  +
Ock: Stay out of our way.
  +
  +
He iterates loudly in front of the others before inching him up closer to his ear so he can whisper
  +
  +
Ock: Don't force me to do this.
  +
  +
His stoic demeanor nearly broke after saying that but it broke almost entirely once his legs slightly tosses him off the edge, watching as his motionless body entered into freefall, splashing down into the river.
  +
  +
  +
Otto felt his eyes twitching and his mouth frowning. This was the last thing he had wanted to do, for the history they've shared together throughout the years was impalpable. Especially after knowing what Pete was actually doing in his spare time; this made it even harder for whatever was left of the innocent Otto to stomach. That man was long gone though.
  +
  +
He had a new objective in his sights and so help him, nothing was going to hurt his plan.
  +
  +
  +
Ock: You all have a job to do. Your debts will be repaid when we're done. Go.
  +
  +
  +
Biding by his word, five of the six set off to do what they set out to do all while Otto pauses with a slight hint of uncertainty and regret as he once again looks back down to where Peter fell. Eventually, he followed suit leaving a metallic trail behind him wherever his claws went.
  +
  +
Vulture was the only one who stayed behind.
  +
  +
  +
He looked down and saw the man who saved his daughter years ago floating off a broken column in the water, dangling for dear life. The dim but visible blue and red lights of a police hovercraft came closer and closer into hindsight with Yuri reaching out towards the broken webslinger. ''To think it would ever come to this'', Adrian echoed within his head.
  +
  +
  +
Vulture: Sorry about this, Pete.
  +
  +
  +
Finally, he took off.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Those who hadn't heard of the Raft breakout, which was more than a quarter of the New York population were spending their evening helping out with a certain campaign run. With Norman Osborn going for another term as Mayor, those who still supported what the man believed in despite his rather secretive and dick-ish behavior were asking for a lot given everything's that happened.
  +
  +
  +
To them, it wouldn't deter their opinions on him.
  +
  +
  +
He still had some popularity, given how huge the crowd was in Time Square and all the banners and flyers and electronic billboards lying around. But like it's been said in the past: It does not take a majority to prevail.....but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. And that irate tireless minority was a patient yet optimistic and charismatic leader turned frustrated, repressed and oppressed sociopath second away from raining down on everyone's parade as he stomped down one electronic billboard causing it to fickle and fizz out.
  +
  +
The view from the crowd to where Otto saw himself at was reminiscent of what he believed people would always see him as: a tiny flicker on a silver screen. After years of being emotionally manipulated, undermined and stepped on, kept down, today would be the day he'd take all of that rejection and oppression and turn it all back around for his favor.
  +
  +
That crowd chanting and cheering was the straw that broke the camels back for him.
  +
  +
  +
Ock: Deluded us so long for all these years....with all these lies. And for what?
  +
  +
  +
No longer the kind-hearted individual he was known for, his intentions spoke to a higher resolve which would culminate at a decision that was careless and risky as it was potentially deadly. Gripping ahold of the cracked Devil's Breath vial brought him immense satisfaction; this was exactly what he needed to finally turn the tables on his former colleague turned enemy and make him pay. Otto couldn't resist perking a smile at this 'defining moment'.
  +
  +
  +
Ock: It's over now, Norman. Time to give them the truth.
  +
  +
  +
Having given the command through the neural interface, he electronically controls the arms to extend outwards holding out the vial as his metallic arms took ahold of it, pinching the vial heavily simultaneously. An ominous red mist was released from the broken vial as more pressure was applied, eventually shattering the vial to pieces.
  +
  +
The mist quickly grew larger in size, taking the form of a darker shaded cumulonimbus, sucking in all of Times Square while its inhabitants were quick to notice the source but seconds too late to escape. Those caught in the mist began coughing and hacking uncontrollably while others had it worse for wear, nearly collapsing to the ground below.
  +
  +
Otto was lucky to have a gas mask on.
  +
  +
Not once does his mannerisms or stoic expression indicate any remorse for his actions as the red smoke pushed onwards towards him. To Otto, this was a necessary evil for acceptable losses to flounder to get what he truly desired: Norman begging for his life with his boot stomping down on his neck....but not before he'd force him to admit to his secrets.
  +
  +
  +
  +
''~24 hours later~''
  +
  +
  +
  +
A full day passed and the only that was certain was how fast the unstable bioweapon had spread through each and every corner of the city, so much so that it could've given the novel virus from Contagion a run for its money. Not even F.E.A.S.T was safe from this citywide pandemic.
  +
  +
The center was more crowded than it ever had been before, for anybody who knew about the place was quick to rush over for shelter and security. No need for a line this time as people piled up straight into the gym which was now cleared out and replaced with beds and IV cables and heartbeat monitors for safety precautions. Even the Cafeteria in its entirety was now being used as a medical room given some of the homeless were unlucky in avoiding the Devil's Breath. Both the lightly and heavily effected gave out symptoms of headaches, nausea, extreme coughing, fever, disorientation of the through process, severe abdominal cramps, etc. Long story short: they'd feel terrible, which is why wearing masks and gloves was a necessity.
  +
  +
  +
But even the simplest of precautions didn't look like it'd be much to stop the infection. As May made her way through the gym with more supplies, she drops the box as the supplies stumble out. Heaving felt pain in her chest and stomach, heavy coughing came through in her mask. Poor ol' May felt the warm thickness of that cough against her lips and it froze her in place for a second.
  +
  +
  +
Reaching for the mask, she removes it and gasps at the sight of blood. Three tears were shed at the sight, the sight of the mask making it visibly clear that both the virus and her old age had caught up with her.
  +
  +
She was lucky to have been brought back from death once. Now it looked certain luck would not be on her side once more.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Aaron: May, are you ok?
  +
  +
Aaron was walking by, concerned for her wellbeing. It startled her but she was glad, anything to hide the fact that she was eventually meeting her end.
  +
  +
May: Yeah....I'm fine. Can you....help me with this box right here and help pass them out for me? Have to get the rest over to the Veterans Center.
  +
  +
Moving out to the side as Aaron took the box of supplies up with May, they were stopped once again as a news report hit the cafeteria TV via from Mary Jane. The news being delivered did very little to calm the storm.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''This is Mary Jane Watson coming live from the Daily Bugle with an emergency report on the bio-terrorist attack. As we now reach day 2 of the Devils Breath pandemic, the number of infected civilians have tripled in size is now approaching half a million. There is still no update from the NDC on the timetable for an antiserum. However, they are working around the clock on a cure for this deadly disease. To make matters worse, since the riot at Rykers leading to the escape of many notorious criminals, the city-wide quarantine is being heavily enforced by Sable International who maintain tight security over all transit points. Through out the city, Captain Watanabe and Silver Sable have their forces continuously trudging against Rykers most wanted with no sign of the terrorist leader Martin Li and new accomplice in sight, who was identified as Dr. Otto Octavius, former professor at Empire State and CEO of Octavius Industries.'''
  +
  +
  +
  +
The next few seconds that came, May saw a slight break in MJ's attitude and demeanor, pausing mid-way through with her eyes twitching before continuing.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''With all this going down, Mayor Osborn has gone on record blaming the masked Avenger known as Spider-Man for the prison breakout and the city-wide sickness, branding him a fugitive.'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
May: Peter....
  +
  +
  +
Now she had her nephew to worry about in this time of need being branded for a criminal offense YET AGAIN.
  +
  +
However, the true criminal in all of this was Norman. Where he was was just like Li predicted: shrinking and hiding away. Absolving himself of all the guilt while staring out his window in his ivory tower with the news report echoing behind him on his desk computer. The half-full glass of whisky behind his back was just as incriminating if not the brooding look in his eyes and face, sporting the coldest poker face one would ever see.
  +
  +
  +
The Mayor and CEO of Oscorp was getting angrier and angrier by the second. The news report was only making it worse.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Unfortunately, he is yet to provide evidence. And many believe the Mayor is just deflecting blame since an exclusive report by the Bugle revealed that this disease originated in a secret unregulated Oscorp laboratory here in Manhattan. Mayor Osborn has insisted that Oscorp is working with NDC on an antiserum---'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Norman: Turn. It. Off. NOW!
  +
  +
  +
Norman's assistant rushed over, turning off the computer and rushing out the room in a hurry; sensing Norman's anger oozing throughout the room was not something one should see. This was not what was supposed to happen, was all that rushed through his head as he continues to grip the glass tighter and tighter until the Williams-Sonoma glass shattered completely.
  +
  +
Down fell the ice cubes, the whiskey and his blood dripping down from the glass cutting his skin from the impact.
  +
  +
Eyes were scrunched tightly shut, his teeth crunching down on each other, he wanted to scream. All that time, all that effort, all those years endless spending his money, expanding his resources, wasting hours and hours racing against the clock to perfect this imperfect circumstance, all of that gone. It drove his mind to the darkest of places, one of which even he didn't know could be found.
  +
  +
  +
One of which echoed.....a distinct laugh.
  +
  +
  +
'''Hehehehe.....'''
  +
  +
  +
Bolting his eyes open, he snapped his head behind him, around him, above him, all around in his office as that laugh echoed louder and louder in his head. The tension wouldn't leave him.
  +
  +
  +
'''Hahahahahahahahehehehe......'''
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Morale for both the city and whoever's left of the city's inhabitants hit a remarkable all time low. The worst contender for best kept secret just effected every corner of the state, more than half of the criminal population had escaped custody and with no current cure in sight, hell was literally freezing over at every which way. Streets and avenues were flooded with crooks and so were the apartment complexes from Queens up to the Bronx all while Sable International took the liberty of baring off even more streets and avenues in the process, turning New York from the city that never sleeps to the equivalent of a modern day wasteland.
  +
  +
  +
All of which lead to the elephant in the room; the burning million dollar question: where was Spider-Man?
  +
  +
  +
The answer? The last place he wanted to be: in the hospital.
  +
  +
  +
Normally being tied down to a hospital bed in the ER, hooked up with IV cables and medical equipment wouldn't be a massive hinderance with Peter. Unfortunately, he still had another 24 hours to go before he could leave.....which would've been fine if the city wasn't on fire and he was willing to wait that long. Fourteen broken bones weren't going to stop him.....and neither was being handcuffed to the bed.
  +
  +
To give credit where credits due, the doctors were respectful enough to not take off his mask.
  +
  +
But that's where it ends: they did leave his web shooters on. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to shoot a web over to the table beside him and grip ahold of a bobby pin on the metal tray. Inching his right wrist down to the first handcuff, he was able to bend it down on the very edge, thus releasing the latches that would open the jaws of the handcuffs. Unfortunately, it was a double lock and his broken bones and ruptured kidneys and pancreas halted his progress. He yelled in agony but quickly stomached the pain down so nobody could hear.
  +
  +
  +
Having to put the bobby pin in the keyhole on the other side, he released the double lock, turned it around to release the latches and opened the jaw.
  +
  +
  +
Doing the same to the other side, he was quick to tear off the restraints and IV cables and patches before making a beeline for the window only to fall down. Holding his stomach and chest together closely delayed the inevitable hacking and coughing.....and then came the blood as he took off his mask.
  +
  +
  +
Almost a fountains worth of blood leaking out from his mouth, staining his teeth and further sinking in the possibility of just how close to the end he might be getting to. Slight noises reverberates and echoes from his backside so Peter is quick to flip the mask back on and leap out the window.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Only problem is, he legitimately didn't know where to start now. The beating he withtook at the hands of his rivals wasn't the worst he had insured but it was quickly ranking up to be a strong contender given how the state he was left in let alone how fragile and sloppy he was.
  +
  +
While he still had enough strength left over to swing on a web, it tired him out more than usual almost so that he stumbled on the roof of the nearest building he could find, breathing hoarsely. Physically, he was a mess. Mentally, there was no telling what to do. Stare, scream, cry or sulk.
  +
  +
  +
All he knew was the very thing he tried to avoid came to light regardless. The city’s in shambles, six of his most dangerous foes are running rampant, Silver Sable’s men are taking advantage of the chaos, roughing up citizens and stealing, escaped convicts have begun setting up bases throughout the city which means Peter can hardly swing without being targeted by a sniper rifle or rocket launcher. And with Otto releasing the Devil’s Breath, people are either starting to die or already dead.
  +
  +
  +
The entire state was crumbling apart before his very eyes. This wasn’t as big compared to half of humanity getting wiped off the planet but it quickly remained the young man it had definitely could be just as worse. It left Peter wondering how this ever came to pass
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Why? How’d I ever let this happen? What is happening to our fair city?
  +
  +
  +
''I don’t know. Seems like the end of the world is here.''
  +
  +
  +
“Hell is what it is”, drew Peter to immediately shoot from behind and yank the voice up close and personally. Gripping it by the collarbone and his fists up in the air, the voice eventually showed a face.
  +
  +
And neither looked totally flattered to see the other, at least momentarily.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Adrian? Again?
  +
  +
Toomes: Don't kill the messenger, kid.
  +
  +
Peter: How long has it been?
  +
  +
Toomes: Not long enough. But that's fine with me.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Thought you were with the six. Why?
  +
  +
  +
~Silence~
  +
  +
  +
Toomes: Because of Liz. The way I see it it's 50-50 for both of us. I owed you a dept from all those years ago and I didn't see a better time to repay it.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: You know....I saw Liz a couple of days ago. Talked a little but caught up. Still doesn't know I'm doing this so....
  +
  +
  +
That's as far as Peter got before stopping mid-sentence He could tell Adrian was being uncharacteristically nonverbal in this exchange so something was on his mind. But there comes a point where everything cracks so Peter kept pushing with one last question
  +
  +
Peter: Know how long she's visiting for?
  +
  +
  +
Finally Toomes gave in
  +
  +
Toomes: She's not visiting she's moving back.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Wait what?
  +
  +
Toomes: She heard about my condition and.....wanted to be close to me best as she could. I tried to protest but......she.....she's stubborn. Just like her old man. But the operation Octavius promised me is not worth this plague while she's here.
  +
  +
Peter: But aren't you worried Otto will come after you?
  +
  +
  +
Toomes: Osborn's his problem. Not mine. Don't get me wrong the Mayor's a douche but he's not worth it either. Also.....I swiped this from your buddy Octavius.
  +
  +
  +
Adrian gives Peter a video tape with the label "Icarus" on it
  +
  +
Peter: "Icarus"?
  +
  +
Toomes: I don't know what it means but....it'll play a live camera fee about the Doctor's next move against Osborn. If I were you I'd examine it quick.
  +
  +
Peter: Thanks but.....are you really helping me for Liz?
  +
  +
  +
Toomes: Nah. Pete despite our differences from the past I grew fond of you after what you did for her....and for saving me from that explosion at the beach. So we're even. However....it wasn't to convince Herman.
  +
  +
Peter: Herman?
  +
  +
  +
  +
Toomes: Oh yeah forgot. Better put your mask back on.
  +
  +
Peter pulled his mask on as Toomes advised him to and fallowed him to wear he had Shocker tied up
  +
  +
Toomes: Feeling cooperative now Herm?
  +
  +
Shocker: Just untie me.
  +
  +
  +
As he did Spidey's eye lens widen surprised that he got Shocker with him knowing this will also go against parole
  +
  +
Spider-Man: How'd you get him with you again?
  +
  +
  +
Toomes: As you may or may not knownot know that Li guy had one of his buddies let him out and had him robe some banks. When I told Herman we could possibly get pay back on these Demons he was in but when I said it would involve helping you he tried to back out and that's why I had him tied here.
  +
  +
Shocker: But don't think this changes anything between us. Cause after this is over Shocker's school of hard knocks will be re-opened
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Oh give me a break Shock I still can't believe you have any class let alone a whole school worth.
  +
  +
Toomes: Are you two done? Go find Octavius we'll keep things covered here.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Ok. And...."Thank you" for saving my life for real this time.
  +
  +
Adrian was surprised he remembered that night at Homecoming when he threaten him in the car but nodded
  +
  +
  +
Toomes: You're welcome.
  +
  +
  +
Spidey swung off as he spoke to KAREN
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Karen. Call Yuri.
  +
  +
  +
''Calling Yuri Watanabe''
  +
  +
  +
'''I just got a call from the hospital. They said you went A-WOL.'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I have to get back to work.
  +
  +
'''But the Doctor's said you have fourteen broken bones.'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: And I still have a hundred and ninety two "Non" broken ones.
  +
  +
'''Well the hard part was keeping you hidden from Silver Sable. She's branded you a fugitive. Even put on a fifty million reward for your capture. You're a priority target now.'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Humbly accept the honor. But I'm still here to help.
  +
  +
  +
'''Alright then. There's gangs of escaped prisoners banding together and taking over entire city blocks. Looting strong-arming local residents you name it. And Osborn told Sable to do whatever it takes to find Li and this Octavius guy. So her men are rounding up civilians indiscriminately holding them captive in passes around the city. I even heard rumors of enhanced interrogation tactics.'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: You mean torture?!
  +
  +
  +
'''Unfortunately.'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Damn. I knew she couldn't be trusted. Don't worry Yuri. This city is our home and we're taking it back.....whatever it takes. First any leads on Li and Octavius?
  +
  +
'''No still searching but I have to confess....the Doctor scares me....he maybe the most dangerous super villain we've ever faced.'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: That's what I'm afraid of. Listen I may have a lead but I don't know what it holds another source gave me a tape about something called "Icarus". Says it maybe something that the Doc is gonna use against the Mayor I'll call you if it has any clues.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''Copy that.'''
  +
  +
  +
The line hung up but.....
  +
  +
''In coming call from Mary Jane Watson.''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Oh god....Karen accept.
  +
  +
  +
'''Peter! Thank God! We need you at The Veteran's Center. What happened to you?'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I got held up. What's going on?
  +
  +
  +
'''''The convicts started a fire demanding food and shelter. Ned just told me May and Miles are trapped inside! We're trying to find a way in but the fire's spreading fast!'''''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: You two stay where you are. I'll get them out.
  +
  +
  +
'''''Hurry Peter!'''''
  +
  +
The line cuts off
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Dammit! Hurry Spidey HURRY!
  +
  +

Peter was a long way from Chinatown and if his deteriorating state spoke anything for it, the signs were slowly reaching an inevitable point of no return. Even if the swing over didn't force enough strain to shut his body down, the amount of Sable and Ryker escapee outposts were. The experienced veteran knew his way around the posts however, sneaking and scurrying around and back to the sides at the cost of two holes through his shoulder and left leg.
  +
  +
With two lucky snipers taking pot-shots when he least expected it, it stopped him almost at dead to rights. Now with his body pushing its daisies far greater than it had to, it gradually forced him to rethink his strategy. If swinging wouldn't work, then using the web wings was out of the question either.
  +
  +
  +
  +
That just meant leaping.
  +
  +
  +
Luckily, he didn't have that far to leap to. Chinatown was only a few feet away and luckily, the fire was shown to him on his HUD display. What was also came through was another call that Peter quickly answered because he was pressed for time.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: MJ, I'm literally about thirty seconds away. I'm goin' in.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Peter, fire and rescue's on the way. Ned already went ahead to help. We found a fire escape that'll allow us t—'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: MJ, please. If you know what's best then stay back. I don't wanna have to worry about you too.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Broken and battered or otherwise, Peter didn't need anything getting in the way or making his job a lot worse. As well as she meant, this was the last thing he needed, for his aunt and a kid was in danger of having their asses being cooked alive.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Peter, don't be crazy! Wait for help!'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I'm not waiting another damn second! I'm not losing May again!
  +
  +
  +
  +
With one final leap and extending out his web-wings, he redirects the air direction straight ahead allowing Peter to barge on through the first window up on the seventh floor, shattering the glass and nosediving headfirst onto a raging inferno. The flames spiking higher and higher with each flicker, Peter maneuvered around the flames to find the floor completely empty.
  +
  +
  +
  +
"May! MAY!", he bellows loudly, unable to hear anything over the flames.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spidey lunges himself to another wall as it tips over, forcing our hero to leap off and crawl up to the next floor. Unfortunately, he slips for his body gives out once more. He felt himself slipping until he pushes back on the wall and regained composure long enough to hear a slight bump and thud to his far right.
  +
  +
  +
  +
He soon spots Ned right over by the window with a broken frame. The former guy in the chair was mere feet away from May and Miles, the latter of whom was exhausted, famished, energy deprived and coughing heavily yet again.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Ned: Grab my hand kid!
  +
  +
  +
"Hurry, Ned", was as calmly tense as May could make that statement sound as Miles reaches out for Ned's hand as he holds on to May's with his other. The floor however began to give way with as the wooden paneling crumbling under pressure so loss of balance was a guarantee for the three of them. But the crumbling subsided as Peter shot webs downwards to keep the floor up which made Ned notice his childhood friend.
  +
  +
Ned: Spidey! Alright!
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Hang on!
  +
  +
  +
  +
Now the floor, Peter was able to hold onto.
  +
  +
Ned's hand however; totally different story. Him and Miles were only a few feet away from each and yet the distance gap wasn't big enough for the two to get across safely. Even as they inched their hands a few inches closer, letting the fire cook them up, it wasn't gonna cut the mustard.
  +
  +
At least not without one more intervention.
  +
  +
Almost everyone turned their attention to MJ busting down the charred window-frame again from the fire escape, stumbling inside and catching everybody's attention.
  +
  +
  +
Of course Peter was left flabbergasted once he laid eyes on her. Something told him she wouldn't listen. In the back of his head, he couldn't help but wonder 'The hell am I gonna do with this girl?' Now wasn't the time to bicker about how saved who though. As the fires begin to crackle and rise higher, the feedback pushes Peter back to his knees as his bones and kidneys give out again. His strength was weakening but he just wouldn't budge for his friends sake. Nodding begrudgingly knowing he's low on options, he willingly handed over the honor to her.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Please....save them.
  +
  +
  +
  +
With permission finally granted, MJ was quick to rush over near the gap and search the burning floor. All she could find was a wooden side panel on the wall to her left.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Hol—hold on! Ned, help with this! ARGH!
  +
  +
With Ned's guidance, they both strained and pushed and slid against the panel with no immediate stroke of luck. It left Miles and May worse for wear as the floor began cracking in flames and sliding on a downward slope again. Even as Peter momentarily regained his energy to pull the floor upwards again, he knew there wasn't much left in him.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Hurry!
  +
  +
  +
  +
MJ: C'mon, you stupid piece of.....shit!
  +
  +
  +
By absolute willpower, the panel completely fell apart to the other floor and it made for a perfect fit for a platform across.
  +
  +
  +
"May!", MJ screams out, extending her hand as she slowly steps onto the wooden platform tiptoeing one foot over the other. With Miles close behind, it made for solid balancing.
  +
  +
Except one: the paneling was beginning to slip out so Ned had to slide in to prevent it from falling. And two: Pete's broken body kept getting the better of him, crashing down to the ground completely off his knees dangling the webline by only merely a finger-tip. Time was dwindling.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Inch by inch by painstaking inch, the wooden paneling began slipping further and further down, forcing both May and Miles to jump off. Ned was able to get May safely but Miles was left dangling off the edge.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Only by Mary Jane's grip and fearlessness did Miles prevent crashing down into a ball of fire and flames.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Gotcha.
  +
  +
Miles: You—you sure did.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Working off each other's strength, MJ barely had the means to pull Miles off and over the edge of the floor while May was lead to the window. One last look was given at Peter before she was forced to creep out the window. She had hoped this wouldn't be the last of him.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Unfortunately, she hoped a little too soon.
  +
  +
  +
  +
First thing Ned noticed was the floor above Spidey slowly ravaging apart as he finally let go of the webline and tried to work himself back to a vertical basis. He had only heard the calls of "Spider-Man! Death from above!" seconds too late as Peter quickly turned around and saw the carnage unveiling before him.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Gasping before rolling out the way, it was already too late.
  +
  +
  +
  +
The fiery debris and rubble had fallen on top of him with barely any warning, almost crushing Peter on contact. The three just watched in horror as the fearless hero dropped effortlessly like a mannequin; a helpless ruptured mannequin.
  +
  +
Ned: SPIDEY!
  +
  +
MJ: NO!
  +
  +
  +
Her bloodcurdling scream overtook Ned's cry while Miles just sat there in stunned, flabbergasted silence. Dropping down like a knife-edge, Peter's immobile flailing body quickly passes by them, mere moments away from tasting sweet release at deaths doorstep.
  +
  +
  +
But there was just no time to die for him. Nearing the fiery pit, Spidey nonchalantly fired two web lines up to the stable floor, extending a few feet above the edge but still missing entirely. The lines dangles for a few seconds and slowly droop back down....
  +
  +
.....only for both MJ and Miles to grip ahold of the lines and bring Spidey's free-fall to a dead end. The sudden jolt of the pull knocks Peter out of unconsciousness, his eyes drooping in and out with each vague, unclear shot. All he had any common knowledge of was something was pulling him up. His eyesight not being fully clear enough, it did catch brief images of Ned, Miles and MJ all gathering around him, pulling their friend, hero and savior back to up to the floor, to safety.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Don't worry, we've got you. We got you.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
That was all the redhead assured the woozy webbed caper, still disquieted with his current condition.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Ned: You two get his arms. I'll get the window.
  +
  +
  +
Doing as Ned ordered, Mary Jane and Miles wrapped Pete's arms around them, carrying him out the broken window at the fire escape with Ned outside reaching for him to pull him out and the other two following suit.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Firefighters burst onto the scene shortly after the heroic rescue, and no less than half an hour had past before the raging fire had reached an steady decline. With the place being declared off limits until further notice, the following preoccupants had to relocate to the nearest building for the time being. At least by that point, it'd be easy pickings finding out who was safe and who wasn't.
  +
  +
  +
This situation left Peter between not so much a rock and a hard place but.....something he honestly couldn't explain. He could've been dead right now; smoked, fried, burned alive to a crisp and yet his friends saved his life. MJ saved his life. It was exactly what KAREN had told him: there was no reason to worry about the safety of his closest ally, friend and former lover....and he promised it'd be the first thing he'd tell her next time they saw each other.
  +
  +
  +
Perfect timing; with MJ stepping back outside to get more fresh air, she felt herself drastically decrease in time and movement as if she was stuck in a loop. This brought back way too many memories but only one immediately came to mind: when she forced Peter to unmask. The first of many highlights of Peter's vulnerability and humanity shining through to her.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
At this very moment as she sat across from him, the weirdest case of Deja Vu rolled over her.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Is May ok?
  +
  +
MJ: She's safe. Michelle and Liz are with her, she'll be alright for now.
  +
  +
He can only nod extensively as Peter held tightly around his ribs, catching his breath after nearly incinerating himself to ashes. A slow yet sloppy start to Peters confession didn't deter him much longer as he removed his mask.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: MJ, I mean—if it weren't for you and Ned and Miles, I'd probably be—
  +
  +
MJ: —as dead as I would've been the last eight and a half thousand times you saved me. Believe me, I know. Pretty sure I still owe you a few, though.
  +
  +
  +
  +
"Hehe, God! Argh, that smarts.....”, Peter exclaims loudly, for it had been a heavily excruciating past two days on both the body and mind. Even as MJ got a feel for the source of the pain, it wasn’t his body shutting down on him that gradually frustrated him.
  +
  +
  +
Massive sigh of relief came over the young web-slinger, relived to find that he didn't have to lose his aunt as well to another senseless act of violence. But his current condition, fourteen broken bones and all, proved to be the biggest takeaway in said rescue. Upon doing the heroic deed, he almost perished. If anything, Peter considered himself lucky to even be in one piece.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Remember, Peter: Man. Not boy.
  +
  +
  +
But no longer would he deny the obligations taken from his closest allies. They helped as much as he helped them and it was time to swallow that Parker pride.
  +
  +
But not before MJ had a confession herself to admit to. The awkward silence drew Peter's attention to her immediately.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Hey.....um, I, I'm—I think I owe you an apology for the past few days. Sorry I screwed things up back there.
  +
  +
Peter: Screwed things up.....HOW?
  +
  +
MJ: What happened the other day with Standish and Grand Central Station and, and all th—
  +
  +
Peter: It was none of my business, I apologize.
  +
  +
  +
Nothing about what came out his mouth sounded like the Peter she knew or maybe she sidestepped across another dimension in which the roles between the two were reversed. It wasn't unusual for Peter to apologize or to admit that she was right at times; what was unusual was him saying sorry for doing something he had every right to do.
  +
  +
MJ: You're sorry? You're sorry for doing your job?
  +
  +
Peter: Well, you had everything covered. You found Standish, you got enough information to know where Li was going to attack next. Hell, you had yourself strapped with bulletproof vests, walking into an armed Sable base. You were every bit as prepared as you could and things were going swimmingly well until I decided to stop by and 'save' you.
  +
  +
MJ: Well, if you hadn't—
  +
  +
Peter: You would've gotten everything we needed. Instead, I botched everything.
  +
  +
MJ: I could've died if they found me.
  +
  +
Peter: Ok, granted, that was pretty stupid what you did. But you handled yourself, right? You proved your point and I'm proud of you......
  +
  +
  +
She couldn't argue any further, for he was right and her argument was finally getting through. While it was nice to see this nice, sensitive side of Peter, MJ knew where this was headed and she didn't like to see the shame n' blame game play out. But it was nice to see the man own up to his wrongdoings.
  +
  +
But even as the topic changed and Peter sulked in his most recent failures......
  +
  +
  +
Peter: The reason we broke up was my fault. In all seriousness, in every circumstance we found ourselves in.....looking back, I never fully appreciated how important your help can be and.....and let's be honest: decades later, I still acting like a damn child, ok? I projected that on you and almost everyone else I come into contact with and—well, I didn't get this far by being reckless. You deserve better......
  +
  +
  +
.....MJ couldn't stand back in let him take all the blame.
  +
  +
  +
"No, Peter, no", she insisted, giving him a moment to soak it all in as Mary Jane allowed herself to be vulnerable for once.
  +
  +
MJ: If anyone truly deserves better, its you. This whole thing, it's on me. I pushed you away when we needed each other.....just like I did to everyone else I grew attached to in my childhood. My father never told me he either loved or liked me and.....I guess I got used to him not being around since Mom passed. So when my Aunt left me behind, I just—
  +
  +
Having to stop herself from tearing up, she nearly bites her tongue withholding everything inside.
  +
  +
But to no avail.
  +
  +
  +
MJ:—I needed a way to cope with it and my acting career didn't help all that much; cast, crew, producers, directors, they all hated me off-screen. Made everything too difficult for everyone with the mask I wore to defend myself. However, when I came across you.....well, I hate to admit it but it wasn't my intention to fall for you, at least until I realized you actually cared. That's what really got me into journalism: all I wanted to do was help. Be more than what my past decided I was.
  +
  +
Peter: And I never gave you that chance. And in doing so, you made me feel like....like I didn't have what it took to be this because I gave you the impression that—
  +
  +
  +
She nods before he could finish. MJ has to stop before it finally clicks and retraces her steps to reword her statement. Cause now seemed like a better time than any.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: I subjected myself into believing I could take care of myself no problem but you keep proving me wrong. I never wanted to push you away. But....I needed you to understand that maybe I just got tired of being treated like a liability, being taken advantage of, chewed up and thrown away like my dad always subjected on me. When push came to shove, I guess I got rid of you on your own behalf because I never wanted to have anything in my life that I couldn't stand losing....but I guess it was too late by then.
  +
  +
  +
As illogical as that sounded to Peter, and he couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow after hearing that, he definitely understood where she was coming from giving her abusive past with her father. To her, if he wasn't going to let her help, than he wasn't gonna be much help to her. But Peter's golden heart couldn't be overshadowed, for not caring at all is entirely different as opposed to caring too much.
  +
  +
Flipping their heads over to one another, they both nod silently.....dropping their heads down in anguish. All pressure set on both of their shoulders slowly drifted off and away, for finally being able to speak their minds somehow rendered them free from their inner turmoil. Mutual understanding finally came through.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Peter: I guess Yoda wasn't kidding about failure being the best teacher....I guess now we can see how we were both being selfish.
  +
  +
MJ: We both screwed up. It's—it's just—It’s annoying always being the one who gets rescued, you know? Sometimes I wanna be the one who does the saving. You understand that, right?
  +
  +
  +
Peter understood wholeheartedly. He knew how much she wanted to help but his needs surpassing hers blinded him to whatever facts he was missing. And he couldn't deal with that.
  +
  +
Peter: Yeah, I do. I'm sorry I made you feel like you couldn't do it. It's just.....
  +
  +
MJ: Fear....
  +
  +
Peter: Can you blame me?
  +
  +
And it was that fear that fell partially on Spider-Man's behalf in Peters mind. Since he's ruining the other half of his life: no home, no job, no life, he was stuck in limbo. And yet every-time there's a call for help, it's something he can't just simply ignore.
  +
  +
Face palming, Peter mumbles ''It's my gift'' under his breath taking the redhead off guard even for a slight moment.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: What was that?
  +
  +
Peter: It's my gift. It's my curse. It's my burden and I have to live with it for the rest of my life, knowing I'm the only one who can look after all this.....even though now I realize I can't.
  +
  +
Both of their eyes catch Peter attempting to reach out for the hand. Once again, he's forced to pull away as he resorts to just looking up at her, the light suddenly restored in his eyes.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Not without some guidance, anyways.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
The heavy breathing subsided and the smoke finally cleared from their months long debacle, it left both sides flustered and a little stupefied. But given the brief yet subtle goofy grins shooting at one another, one would be safe to assume that they were now ok with using a little guidance from one another.
  +
  +
  +
Just like how it was supposed to be.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Peter: So.....still partners?
  +
  +
MJ: Always. We're partners for life.
  +
  +
  +
A moment of silence came between them and their faces inched to one another ALMOST kissing but was interrupted as they heard the roof door behind them opening
  +
  +
Pete threw on his mask back on in a quick second and Ned and Ned and Miles came out with boxes
  +
  +
  +
Miles: Hey so I didn't know uh....if you needed sparkling or......or flat or.....spring....or mt spring. But Mr. Leeds and I got one of each.
  +
  +
Ned: He's been pretty picky with everything. Um....did we interrupt something?
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: No Ne---um Mr. Leeds. MJ----Ms. Watson and I were discussing about strategy.
  +
  +
Miles: Strategy?
  +
  +
  +
MJ: That's right. The city's in danger. It needs our help.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: ALL of our help.
  +
  +
Miles: Well call the play coach.
  +
  +
  +
Ned couldn't help but to chuckle he was starting to like this new kid himself as Peter stood up holding his rib
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Divide and Concur. Ms. Watson I need you to be my eyes and ears at the Bugle. Ask your sources anything about an antiserum for Devil's Breath. If Oscorp is developing something there's no way they can protect it from Li and Octavius. We need to find it before they do otherwise there'll be no cure for anyone who's sick.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: I'll track down some leads.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Good. Mr. Leeds? Care to be my guy in the chair again?
  +
  +
Ned: I'm your man.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Excellent. Miles? You're in charge of F.E.A.S.T. if anything should go wrong call me or Mr. Parker. We need to keep everyone there safe.
  +
  +
Miles: Yes sir! I won't let you down.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I know you won't. Meantime I'll track down those nut jobs. Time to return the favor. But first I got to examine this tape I got from a source of mine.
  +
  +
  +
MJ was puzzled on that tape and Peter didn't know how to tell the gang he got this from one of his oldest enemies who only helped him to repay his 10 year old dept to him
  +
  +
  +
Miles: By the way how do I call you? You got a cel phone in your pocket or....your mask or something?
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Ms Watson and Mr. Leeds can give you my number. Ok. Good luck team.
  +
  +
  +
He leaps off and swings away as Miles turned to the others
  +
  +
Miles: What did he mean by "guy in the chair"?
  +
  +
Ned: Oh. Let's just say.....Spider-Man and I go way back since the Avengers. I kinda.....go on the computer tracking leads telling him where to go. That kind of "Guy in the Chair".
  +
  +
  +
Miles: That's awesome! And MJ are you.....Spider-Man's girlfriend? Like in Man of Steel Lois Lane is Superman's that be so cool!
  +
  +
MJ: *'''Chuckles'''* Don't compare me to a DC character Sherlock. If I was like "Lois Lane" I'd be more organized. Anyway why don't you show me what you got in this water.....smorgasboard.
  +
  +
As MJ and Miles went through the box Ned left to get back in his "Chair" and on to his laptop and after many many MANY years of retirement in college and soon he and Pete were linked to one another to communicate and also Ned could hear KAREN too
  +
  +
  +
'''Ok Pete can you hear me?'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Loud and clear Ned. Karen you still with us?
  +
  +
''Loud and clear.''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Good. Listen I'm on my way to view the Icarus tape and I know just the place to do it. Otto has a small research lab near times square. I think if we view the tape there it's possible we'll find more clues on the criminals.
  +
  +
  +
'''''I don't mean to pry Peter but....who exactly gave you that tape?'''''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Would you believe me if I told you it was Big Bird?
  +
  +
  +
KAREN laughed at his sesame street joke but Ned on the other line didn't had to be a genius to figure out WHO he was talking about
  +
  +
'''Dude! Are you saying Liz's dad gave you the tape? Why would he be helping you stop Li and Octavius?'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: To make a long story short he's still grateful to me for saving Liz in Washington. I'll tell you the details after we're done.
  +
  +
  +
'''''I just hope you know what you're doing by trusting him man.'''''
  +
  +
Soon Peter arrived at the small research lab entrance on a roof on times square and soon as he came in he saw that Otto and the other villains were here not too long ago
  +
  +
Peter saw the plans with them and the tape recorders Ock had left them for their service to him
  +
  +
  +
He already knew Vulture was into it to fix his spine least till he told him it wasn't worth this plague Scorpion was in it to earn a clean slate and lots of money Rhino to get his suit off so he could retire Electro to become "Pure Energy" meaning Max's goal was not retirement like most of the villains were and Li OF COURSE only agreed to Otto's preposition because they BOTH want to get rid of Osborn
  +
  +
Pete was still sadden the man he knew from F.E.A.S.T. would hide such a dark hatred even more sad his former boss third father figure and friend would carry the same grudge
  +
  +
But in time Peter found a small tv and VCR and saw this a chance to play the tape
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Karen. Give Ned visual I'm about to play the tape
  +
  +
  +
''As you wish.''
  +
  +
Ned on his side saw his laptop upload Spidey's P.O.V. like KAREN and E.D.I.T.H. did at Grand Central Station and Ned was amazed at what he saw come on
  +
  +
Ned: Dude! How did you do that?
  +
  +
  +
'''Let's just say I still learn things from this Stark Tech every day. I wanted you to see this tape with me. Toomes said it's gonna play a live visual'''
  +
  +
  +
Pete then put the tape in the VCR and soon the tv showed static at first until.....the newly villain: "Dr. Octopus" came on the screen with a sinister smile under his grey beard
  +
  +
'''Hello Parker. I was beginning to wonder if you even got my tape.'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: It wasn't hard Otto. And since you wanted me to find it it what is this "Icarus" you're planning?
  +
  +
  +
'''Peter my boy. Did you forget you were hired by the greatest genius on earth? Did you really think.....I wouldn't notice Adrian stealing the tape for you?'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: You knew he would. There is no Project Icarus is there?
  +
  +
'''Of course not. That's what I just told the old bird knowing he'd give it to you. Learning what you did for his daughter wasn't hard either Parker. "Icarus" was just a ruse to get you into position.'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Into position?
  +
  +
'''I told you NOT to force me to do this. But since you didn't listen....'''
  +
  +
  +
Peter's sense's went off as the screen showed a timing 0:07 the tape was a bomb and his eye lenses widen then felt some arms grabbing his sides from behind and felt being flown out as the place went up in flames and it didn't take long for him to notice that....Adrian saved him again
  +
  +
Vulture: Need a lift kid?
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Guess I do.
  +
  +
  +
Vulture flew him away from times square near a power station where he was caught...…
  +
  +
.....red handed.....by.....
  +
  +
.....Electro
  +
  +
  +
And he.....was PISSED of what Vulture had done
  +
  +
  +
Electro: A vulture and a spider sitting in a tree. Ain't that fuckin' peachy?
  +
  +
  +
"Max, this isn't what you think. I can explain--", that short-lived attempt at an explanation from Adrian ended as it was expected to end: no comment.
  +
  +
  +
Only response was Electro simply winging them around the nigh sky as Electro carried them onwards, leaving a rather massive thunder mark trail in his path and attracting the attention of whoever was on the ground. Exiting out of Time Square, with the pandemic sit in motion, made it very difficult not to be noticed however. Peter's battered, broken body was receiving more of the brunt of the punishment as Electro carelessly crashing him into walls and electronic billboards allowed some of the ruble and circuitry to spark off of him.
  +
  +
Which meant more bones waiting to be shattered.
  +
  +
  +
Adrain wasn't fairing well either once traffic got involved.
  +
  +
  +
Gotta love when the rush hour comes on late at night, he sarcastically remarks. Unlike his costumed arachnid buddy, he found it difficult to maneuver around the cars and on-going inanimate objects that kept popping up from the side at the last minute. His already deteriorating body wasn't fast enough or maneuverable enough due to the spinal cancer limiting his movements.
  +
  +
Not to mention his wings barely sticking out from the wires, getting strung along with whatever metal changes against it, right introducing the possibility of them being ripped off before long. Peter could hear Adrians cries of pain grow louder and louder with each crash, one by one damaging his precious wings.
  +
  +
God knows how much longer this was going to last so Peter had to patch in a call.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: KAREN, give me Ned!
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Pete? Are you ok? What's happening?'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Argh! Just taking a very strange Uber lift through the city. The traffics rough, Ned. Listen, I need a favor from you and MJ: Otto used the lab as a staging ground for the prison breakout. He's sent the other supervillains to take out a designated Oscorp branch to distract the officials and higher-ups while Li guns for the antiserum. I--GOD!
  +
  +
He crashes again into another electronic billboard, but the line is still connected.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I need you to track down the lab for Devil's Breath before he can. Pull up every building permit and classified security protocol you can get your hands on and make sure you get a record on that lab.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Already on it, Spidey. If we do get a record on the lab, you'll be the first we let know. How's big bird holding up?'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Argh! Not much--WHOA!--better!
  +
  +
  +
  +
He barely usurps that comment prior to crashing again. The electronic whirring from Adrians end showed sparks flickering out from both sides, his wings receiving more and more and more of the brunt than his body was made to handle. However, not just from the constant crashing. Peter's lenses zooming in closer to Adrians side caught the electrified cables slowly losing leverage as small little tears grew larger with each struggle.
  +
  +
The cables were durable for an extended period of time but enough pressure, resilience and strain applied, that time could be cut by presumably half. So he decided to try it himself, but not before he found himself hurdling into MORE buildings and billboards and sidewalks to crash alongside. Max's residue trail of electricity wasn't helping matters much better.
  +
  +
  +
Peter couldn't help but notice however that the trail already left behind was the only visible one present, seeing how this black streak laid out amongst the road all the way beyond the current district boundaries. Amongst seeing sparks and bolts of lightning and voltage cables circling around the sky and radiating with immense power in the distance, it glistened off of Electro immensely—perhaps a little too much. Because Peter knew now where Electro was taking them.
  +
  +
And it couldn't have been a more suitable location.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Oh shh—Ned, don't forget to call Yuri Watanabe! She's the NYPD captain, tell her Electro is heading to Oscorp's power station!
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Gotcha covered.'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Logging out on his end, back at his dorm, he had the whole room to himself. Thank God his roommate tended to stay out late. Booting up his computer, he immediately logs into the online chinatown police website and practically hacked himself in.
  +
  +
Before long, logging into Yuri's cell number was a piece of cake. It brought a brief visible smirk back to his face.
  +
  +
  +
Ned: Damn. I forgot how fun this was.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Fun wasn't the prominent turn either Peter or Adrian would've liked to use. Approaching one of the many Oscorp power plants stationed throughout New York, Electro was clearly bidding his time with this, doing this as a favor to achieve his dream of becoming "pure energy".
  +
  +
No luck in doing that without getting rid of the elephant in the room.....which would be easier said than down.
  +
  +
  +
The brief moments he turned away from the two, Vulture and Spider-Man simultaneously broke free from the cables, startling Electro. Just as Vulture extended his green matte carbon wings with sparks fizzling and some of the paint scratched off, he's quick to catch Electro zipping right towards him only so he could blast him back with portable Chitari guns attached to his arms. It left the perfect opening for Peter to further tackle Max down onto the pavement and whip him up to a nearby generator.
  +
  +
Upon colliding with it, both the outer and inner shell were effectively totaled as the generator crashed alongside one of the metal gratings below, laying shards of metal debris everywhere.
  +
  +
  +
The look on his face afterwards, one of venomous contempt, came off as shock value to Peter. ''Wish I kept that as my screensaver'', he thought to himself.
  +
  +
  +
Even the most carefree of Spider-Man's foes didn't take too kindly to a personal betrayal, as evidenced when he snapped his head at Adrian.
  +
  +
  +
Electro: You.....SAVED him?!
  +
  +
Vulture: The trap just softened him up.
  +
  +
Electro: You ain't fooling me, bird brain. I ain't stupid! You? Saving this pest after he locked us all in cages like animals. Thought you were stronger than that.
  +
  +
  +
No time for Vulture to fire back a remark as Electro blasted at Vulture only to reflect it block the rays momentarily thanks to his wings. Distracted, Pete attempted to make a move but Max shifted his attention and then blasted at him. He actually gets a hit in with Peter bouncing off a nearby platform but quickly recovering as he landed on it above.
  +
  +
The two enemies turned allies circled around the electrified megalomaniac while he laid in wait, letting the electricity from the three remaining generators purify his body even more like a triple watt battery.
  +
  +
  +
Electro: Ahhh, whatever; that’s fine with me. Shows how refreshing it is to work with someone like Otto, eh? Backup plans for his backup plans!
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Back at Ned's end, no immediate luck came through when it came to locating the Devils Breath lab. The obvious choice with Oscorp seemed to be the first choice to exploit and yet no results came through; it didn’t make any sense to him.
  +
  +
  +
Four separate news articles and database servers later, still nothing. However, his attention drifted from one thing to another and left one important thread hanging from the other side of the phone.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Captain Watanabe. Hello? Hello?'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Recognizing the voice, he’s startled and nearly tumbled out the chair. Pulling back on the desk to reposition himself, he repositions his headphones and switches lines to get Yuri onscreen.
  +
  +
Ned: Ms. Watanabe? My name's Ned Leeds.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Who??'''''
  +
  +
  +
Ned: I'm an ally of Spider-Man's. And he told me to tell you some very important lead on Electro and the Vulture.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: He told me he had sources in his back pocket. Is this it?
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Yeah, yeah, that's me. Just tell your men to head to Oscorp's Power Station. It's a 2-on-1 assault between them and him.'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: Ok. We're on it.
  +
  +
Yuri cut off the transmission to Ned and pulled out her radio to call for backup
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: All units the Vulture and Electro have been sighted at Oscorp's Power Station. I want swat teams and reinforcements there on the double! Move it!
  +
  +
  +
Back at the Power Station both Peter and Adrian were down for the count by all the damage they took from Electro as he laughed from above the power transports
  +
  +
  +
Electro: Hahahahaha! Our long feud ends tonight insect! And as for you V....it was nice knowing you.....TRAITOR!
  +
  +
  +
He was about to make an atomic blast and that would have been it for the former homecoming rivals
  +
that is until.....
  +
  +
  +
A massive shock wave destroys the transporters and Electro was running out of power
  +
  +
Electro: The hell?!
  +
  +
  +
Electro looked down where that wave came from and to his and Spidey's and Vulture's surprise it was Shocker
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Herman?!
  +
  +
  +
Shocker: If anybody's gonna squash that bug it's gonna be ME!
  +
  +
Electro: Why you little----!
  +
  +
Max was about to blast Herman but---
  +
  +
Vulture: Spider-Man! Now's our chance!
  +
  +
  +
Adrian manage to fly back up with Pete shooting a web to him to hitch a ride both flying at Max while still charging his blast then Pete leaps over the bird lunging towards Electro who looked over bolting up his eyes and dropping his jaw
  +
  +
Electro: Uh oh...…
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man launches a sucker punch on his jaw sending the pure-energy villain down to the left bridge
  +
  +
And webs were shot to his right arm holding him down with Pete landing on one of the towers
  +
  +
Vulture landed beside Shocker nodding to him and soon Yuri's Calvary arrived pointing their guns at the two Shocker was about to fight back but Vulture put his hand infront of him telling him not to resist and lifted both his hands up to the cops
  +
  +
Vulture: We surrender.
  +
  +
  +
Spidey however landed on the rail of the bridge to have Electro ready for pick up but heard a familiar voice speaking on some communicator
  +
  +
'''Max. What's happening? Max come in.'''
  +
  +
Shooting a web to Max's ear he pulled the communicator out and into his hand and spoke on it with a serious tone
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Electro's been grounded Doc.
  +
  +
  +
'''Spider-Man I presume. Or should I call you.....Peter Parker? You know if you really care about this city you'd be helping us expose Osborn for the criminal he is!'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: At what cost?! You're killing INNOCENT people!
  +
  +
  +
'''I would have restored the power!'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Otto for God's sake listen to me. You're sick. You need help.
  +
  +
'''I already have the help I need Parker. And I will never stop until Norman gets what he deserves!'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: You know I can't let that happen. I have to stop you. You've become a criminal yourself Doc. I don't have a choice.
  +
  +
  +
'''If I am a criminal then I WILL act as a criminal to stop the real criminal. Consider this your last chance Peter. Join us....or STAY out of our way!'''
  +
  +
  +
The line was cut leaving Pete frustrated to crush the communicator and swing away leaving Electro tied for the police
  +
  +
  +
He later landed on a roof top for that fight took much out of him and sat by a wall
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Man....I must have took more of a beating than I thought. I just need to.....catch my breath.
  +
  +
  +
And he caught it longer than he planed to as he fell in a deep sleep but later wakes up with rain drops on him our hero woke up to a rainy morning hearing sirens and seeing smoke at a distance
  +
  +
Spider-Man: What......what time......oh man. Karen? Where's Vulture Electro and Shocker?
  +
  +
''Yuri's men have them. Adrian surrendered without a fight. That makes three down and four to go.''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Good. Is Ned still online?
  +
  +
''No. But he left message. Saying MJ may have found on the a lead on the antiserum and went to the Bugle to meet her with it and will call soon.''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Alright. Meantime we should focus on Scorpion and Rhino next. Any leads?
  +
  +
''Reports say Gargen was spotted near Central Park at the reservoir. I assume Otto sent him to target water treatments.''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Then that's our next stop. If we loose clean water we might not never come back from this. Update this to Yuri soon as I make progress.
  +
  +
''As you wish.''
  +
  +
  +
Like a man on a mission Pete swung to Central Park heading for the Reservior and minutes later he landed on the roof looking and scanning anything out of the ordinary but not noticing the familiar green tail coiling over the other side
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Nothing. Man.....this is gonna be harder than I thought. Alright.....if I was a record criminal dressed like a Scorpion where would I be....?
  +
  +
  +
'''Right behind you!'''
  +
  +
  +
  +
He caught the cry just in time; his Spider-sense alarming him to maneuver out of harms way, missing what would've been a thunderous ground-pound but barely blocks the green alloy metallic tail, which briefly sweeps him aside. As he recovers, Gargen attempts to stomp down on his back with the tail in front but misses.
  +
  +
And again.
  +
  +
Third time was not the charm however, as the tail sliced against Spider-mans chest missing his vital organs and, thankfully, his skin but left a nasty gash on his shoulder. With venom oozing out from the wound as onto his suit, Scorpion had done his job, seeing how quickly Peter's defense was deteriorating. Disorientation of the thought process, convulsions, shortness of breath, that one little sting was slowly but surely shutting down the rest of his nervous system.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Scorpion: If it were me, I'd end you now. But Octavius pays triple and he wants you to suffer....which I respect. A shame your army isn't here to lend you a hand, huh?
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Well it's not like they left me their numbers if there was a phone to call other dimensions. But I'm....not complaining.....
  +
  +
  +
That's all Peter could only, weakly, bring himself to respond with before he loses his balance and nearly collapses further down the roof, chipping off the shingles and dangling off the edge while Gargan leaps away. The strain required to pull himself back up to a respectable safe haven was now twice of what he normally had to pull off the task.
  +
  +
His physical strength dimmed away by the second while this overbearing headache overtaken by an ominous dark green mist covered up his sinuses and prevented him from concentrating fully. It did little to stop Peter from crawling back up to the roof and taking a minute to recover from the stinger; even if it meant letting Scorpion get away.
  +
  +
  +
But nothing could prepare the veteran wall-crawler for what he saw next, for as his vision cleared up, his eyes widened greatly and his heart sank along with it.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: What the hell?
  +
  +
  +
  +
Scaling the landscape in front of him, every road covered in pavement, every landmark he remembered from muscle memory, the lakes, the avenues, the streets, the blocks, the cars, most of the vegetation, everything that was more than ten feet below Peter's current height of elevation was completely gone. And in its place was a giant green oceanic current of water, big enough to match a giant well of quicksand.
  +
  +
A giant sea of poison.
  +
  +
There was no proper way to process this as straightforwardly as possible as Peter was left gently grazing his oozed shoulder, further making self-awareness that nothing about this vision was real. Or at least, as real as he wanted it to be. All he could do was trudge on forward, swinging away from the park as much as he could, despite his muscles growing more and more weaker the further the distance he crossed. He couldn't take any chances with what was in his head or directly beneath him.
  +
  +
Just in case it was real, the best option was to get to higher ground and analyze what Scorpion injected him with.
  +
  +
  +
He was forced to use the trees to glide around above the waters - stick near the trees so there was something to swing from until he reached the edge of the park, and then zipped to the walls of the buildings to run up and get away from the toxic goo below.
  +
  +
Having the double Web Zip would've helped cover more ground between swings. Too bad his lack of strength wouldn't allow him.
  +
  +
  +
Further deteriorating the nervous system, it messed heavily with Peter's sinuses and visual aim for the green fog kept paralyzing his line of sight seconds in and seconds out, barely giving him no time to concentrate. The sky pouring green rain-droplets on his head didn't help matters either. It also interfered with his Spider sense, leaving him with his bare instincts alone to avoid any potential roadblocks.
  +
  +
If any should show up unexpectedly.
  +
  +
  +
And one such roadblock came in the form of a giant metallic scorpion tail, popping out from the green sea and startling him half to death.
  +
  +
  +
The tail missed but barely as the cybernetically controlled mechanical tail cuts the webline Peter needed to get across to that high vantage point. He's left exclaiming and screaming wildly, the venom further messing up his vision and making it next to impossible to pinpoint where he needed to go next. If he hit the poison sea beneath, it was either instant death or painful suffocation until he he drowned. So in desperation, he took a gamble and pressed down on his web-shooters again, launching the webs to all different directions.
  +
  +
Most of them went absolutely nowhere.
  +
  +
Only one thread stuck an identifiable surface and it vibrates heavily, launching Peter halfway across the terrain and up to the roof of a building as he rolled to momentary safety.
  +
  +
  +
"I shou—", he coughs heavily, his body straining himself as he struggled to stand properly. All he could do was sit crisscross applesauce and sit up properly to prevent any further pain.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I should analyze what he injected me with. Produce an—an antidote. Karen?
  +
  +
  +
  +
''Peter! Thank goodness, I lost you for a second.''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: No-no biggie. I need you to—HUD display. Give me the HUR display. Pull up the fragment inventory on the poison and let me take care of the rest.
  +
  +
  +
''Your vitals are off the charts. How much did Scorpion inject you with?''
  +
  +
  +
"Guess I'll find out," his slurred speech barely getting through to Karen as she did as instructed: the HUD display switching out from the citywide view from the lenses to the fragment inventory.
  +
  +
  +
Six different patterns laid off to the side while the completed spectrograph for the substance laid directly above. There's three patterns he needed to match, using both additive and reductive fragments. The first pattern had three lines, and the third, fifth, and eighth fragment in the inventory was needed to place three lines and get rid of one. The second pattern had a bold line and a regular line, so the fourth and sixth fragments was needed to match this pattern. Finally, the last pattern had three lines on the right, so on and so forth.
  +
  +
All that was needed was to absorb the pattern and combine them together to identify the substance at hand. These lab puzzles would normally take no time at all but with Peter's increasing delay of accuracy and speed, this time it proved to be a bit time consuming.
  +
  +
  +
Eventually, the fragments were spliced together and a new substance from the
  +
  +
  +
Substance was identified as Ovatoxin-A/Baocystin mixture.
  +
  +
  +
That was all Peter needed to see, for it was exactly what he was meant expecting it to be: a powerful hallucinogenic neurotoxin.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: So my—my brain'll create nightmares that my body thinks are real. Argh.....have to create the antidote fast.
  +
  +
  +
  +
''First, you'll need a natural steroid. I've managed to track an extract from an Eclipta Alba plant that should do the trick. Highlighted the location on your radar.''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Compared to before however, there was no need to travel too far as the ESU greenhouse was highlighted on Peter's map outline of the city through his lenses. It brought Peter some sentiment joy over how close it was. The quicker he put together this antidote, the faster he could get cured and give ol' Macdonald Gargan a taste of his own medicine.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: The ESU greenhouse. Hope it's in season.
  +
  +
  +
Off he was to get the herb in the Upper West Side.
  +
  +
Too bad this also meant more navigation through the streets of green poison to get there. Just think of it as a variation of the floor being lava, Peter had to talk to himself about. This time, he actually zipped from point to point or double web-zipped to stay up high as much as he could, always looking on with his lenses in advance to see where he was heading so he couldn't end up somewhere with no building to latch onto.
  +
  +
Even worse: more metal Scorpion tails.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Yay.
  +
  +
  +
There was no time to deal with them but the poison basically made maneuvering extremely difficult. Once again, one attacked from the air but Peter felt obligated to drop down and avoid it completely. But he's met with another one that attacked, barely decapitating him with the stinger.
  +
  +
And another one who nearly pierces him from the side.
  +
  +
By the time he decided to move along and slide amongst the surface of the last scorpion tail he was met with, he was home free.
  +
  +
  +
Once he reached the ESU greenhouse, he saw exactly what he was looking for: the herb from the Elicpta plant. Famished and worn out, he quickly scurried inside but tat run quickly turned to a slide and then a drag and then just tiny baby steps. His body locked up. His muscles grew swollen. His head felt seconds away from exploding and there wasn’t much Peter could do to block out the pain. Eventually, he laid almost completely immobile.
  +
  +
  +
No less than six inches away from the Elicpta plant, he collapses.
  +
  +
  +
As if he hadn’t already suffered from one such acid trip, this one ended up sending Peter’s subconsciousness to someplace unexpected.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: The lab? How....how did I get here? Is this real.....or in my head?
  +
  +
  +
'''It could be both Peter.'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Doc??
  +
  +
Pete regained his balance walking to the entrance to the lab which only lead him to the heart of Central Park with the sky so bright and white and Otto appearing like a ghost and as he was before becoming Doc Ock
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Otto....my god you....y---you sound like.......
  +
  +
  +
Otto: Like I did before the neural interface altered my personality and affected my mind? Yes. But here's the real truth Parker. Deep down my obsessions were always there. The interface only allowed me to fully embrace it. Norman pushed me too far to let it go. He took everything. Our lab. My ideas. Even your hopes for a better world.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: No....I have to fix this.....fix you. Somehow....I know the real you is in there still.
  +
  +
Otto: Oh Peter....as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man you're always trying to shoulder the responsibility. And I understand why. You made that promise to your dying Uncle. You even tried to keep it when there's no hope. And believe me no word can express how many times your unfettered optimisim has kept me going when things looked bleak. I'll miss being with you. I really will.
  +
  +
  +
Peter tried to get close to him but the image of Otto poofed into some kind of light and straight through the empty park
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Doc wait! Please! I'm sorry. I'm so sorry!
  +
  +
He tried to web swing after it while hearing Otto's voice in his head
  +
  +
  +
'''Yes. Yes, you are sorry. And yet...you let this happen. Makes me wonder where your priorities lie. I mean if your Uncle Ben was that important to you how could you forget him for Tony Stark? He was just as bad as Norman. And if he mattered how could you let him snap his life away? You could have used those stones yourself to save him. And what about me? If I mattered so much to you.....why did you.....'''
  +
  +
He reappeared as Doc Ock
  +
  +
  +
Ock: '''….LET THIS HAPPEN?'''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: DOC!!!
  +
  +
  +
He disappeared again and soon he found the Eclipta Alba and soon as he was able to get a sample the hallucination stopped and woke up in the Green House
  +
  +
''Peter? PETER!!''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Karen?
  +
  +
  +
''You got to stop blacking out. You were talking to yourself again.''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I'm trying. The poison's getting stronger.
  +
  +
  +
''Then you need to take that sample to the lab and mix it with an anti-toxin to make a permanent antidote.''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I think Doc kept one in his office. In college, he developed a synthetic atropine.
  +
  +
  +
''Then there's no time to lose.''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man swung through times square with the city still flooded with Scorpion venom bit it was starting to increase Spidey had to keep his feet high enough to avoid it but that was the least of his problems
  +
  +
Giant Scorpion Tails came bursting out of the ocean of poison roaring like Godzilla which jumps Peter's heart skip a beat
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Dang...giant deadly scorpion tails. Lovely.
  +
  +
  +
''''Whatever you're seeing is not real Peter. Just keep moving.''''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I'm going as fast as I can.
  +
  +
  +
Spidey swung through the poisoned city avoiding the tails from stinging him again real or not until in time he made it to Otto's lab but collapsed again hearing his voice again and in the lab it looked like it was swept away and floating in some sand storm
  +
  +
  +
Otto: You're too late Peter. Just like you were too late to help me.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: No Doc! This isn't you!
  +
  +
  +
Otto: Oh but it IS me. The "Me" that polite society found inconvenient. The part of myself I suppressed. The part of me you helped break those chains!
  +
  +
  +
Pete tried to approach him again but Otto poofed into the light once more flying off and he chased after it again
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Please Doc! I'm sorry! I'll find a way to save you! I swear it!
  +
  +
  +
'''Oh Parker do us both a favor and STOP deluding yourself! You never helped anyone. The poison isn't in you, you ARE the poison! Everyone you touched always suffers the poison!'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Stop running away from me! Let me try!
  +
  +
  +
'''I want NOTHING from you! Ever since you put on that mask, you were always a kid playing dress up trying to prove himself a man. You were a man to me without that mask. All it's done is make you a failure! At life love and career! You bring nothing but pain!'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I'm not giving up on you! Just talk to me! Let me help you Otto.
  +
  +
  +
'''Why? So you can treat me like another disposable father-figure like you did your poor Uncle and Stark? Take a bullet from a crook you let run? Time travel to save your ass costing my life?! No. I will let my genius shine on it's own! Don't think I didn't see you Peter. Taking notes, using my ideas to make your little spider toys. A rat in my own lab!'''
  +
  +
  +
It disappeared as the astropine appeared as Pete tried to reach for it the tentacles come out of nowhere grabbing both his arms and up to Ock
  +
  +
  +
Ock: '''You're in my domain now.....Spider-Man! You're just like Osborn! Trying to steal my genius! Everything that happens will now be your fault! I knew you were laughing at me Parker! All of you behind my back!'''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: No....NO! You're not Otto! You're....NOT.....'''REAL!!!!'''
  +
  +
  +
Our hero kicks back then lunges at the imaged Doc Ock which poofed again and the atropine appeared again and as he took it the hallucination stopped but....
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Oh it's over....
  +
  +
  +
''Uh Peter?''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Karen. Upload the samples and....
  +
  +
  +
''Under-roos.''
  +
  +
  +
He looked down to see only things he was wearing was his mask and.....spidey boxers
  +

Spider-Man: Where did my suit go?
  +
  +
  +
''I think you took the decontamination a little too far.''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Noted. Better find my suit and get dressed.
  +
  +
  +
Soon as the antidote was fully in his system he found his suit by the lab entrance put it back on and observed the lab with the broken tv where the arms use to be and his own office remembering the hallucinations he experienced made him wonder what Doc said were true but soon left for F.E.A.S.T. to check on May
  +
  +
He hadn't seen her since the fire in Harlem last night where her and Aaron were in the kitchen
  +
  +
  +
Aaron: Where you want this?
  +
  +
May: Just over there on the counter. Till Miles gets back best thing we can do is keep everyone fed.
  +
  +
Aaron: Agreed.
  +
  +
  +
Soon Pete in social attire came in and May was the first to notice him
  +
  +
May: Peter. Thank God. How are you? Healthy?
  +
  +
  +
Peter: I'm alright. How yall holding up?
  +
  +
May: Good but busy.
  +
  +
Aaron: Hey Pete.
  +
  +
  +
Gloria soon walked in with another box and soon as May walked up to her she coughed out and almost fell but Peter caught her in a second and sat her on a near by chair
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Whoa there.
  +
  +
May: I'm ok. Really.
  +
  +
Peter: Didn't you tell me before about accepting I'm still human like everyone else?
  +
  +
May: You and Ben. *'''Coughs'''* Masters at turning my own words against me. But really Peter I'm fine. Just a little run down.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Where's Miles? Wasn't he suppose to be helping you out?
  +
  +
Aaron: He's out picking up medical supplies from the relief center. It's crazy how quickly we go through antibiotics.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: How long has he been gone?
  +
  +
Aaron: Almost 30 minutes....which is I'll admit longer than he should have been gone. Alright....just keep May off her feet and you and Gloria organize the unloads and I'll check in with the kid.
  +
  +
Peter: Right.
  +
  +
  +
May: Yeah give me a chance to nurse my wounded Parker pride.
  +
  +
Everyone chuckled as Aaron walked out of the kitchen speed dialing his nephew but went to voicemail
  +
  +
  +
Aaron: Oh come on kiddo. Don't make me worry about you too.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Aaron's concern was greatly appreciated but now wasn't the right time or right place to call.
  +
  +
  +
Said call never made it through, as Miles briefly stared at it and quickly declined before stashing the phone away. His breathing irregular from his adrenaline and senses spiking, he knew if it kept ringing any longer, the next move to occur would have unintended consequences for him.
  +
  +
Miles: So much for a milk run.
  +
  +
Stranded down near the waterfront, he found himself surrounded minutes before.
  +
  +
  +
The supply area had been overrun by armed convicts, as well as multiple shredded areas of debris, cars, smoke, glass, product placement and copyright infringement. A lot more dense area than the alleyway he took to F.E.A.S.T weeks ago, it opened up the possibility of being getting spotted a lot more easily especially since these convicts, similar to the Sable guards, won't hesitate to shoot first and ask questions never.
  +
  +
  +
Miles: How’d a bunch of convicts even do this. Looks like an exploding bulldozer went through here?
  +
  +
  +
Long story short: if he got spotted, it's game over. And Miles knew that.
  +
  +
Even with his phone set to the hacking app due to the nearby floodlights in the distance, the battery was set at only 10%, so he was really up shit creek without a paddle. So he'd have to paddle through the shit with his hands.
  +
  +
  +
There were two convicts not far ahead of him with assault rifles, neither of whom seemed interesting in turning around to the other way. Good signs, for now. If he wouldn't get caught by them, the large pile of shattered glass laying in front of him could give him away. So he made a beeline for it: a wide arc to the right to avoid the broken glass as he headed around the two thugs in front of him, and kept going right until he got behind cover. His hair barley skimmed the edge of the flattened hood of the car so one eagle eared convict was bright enough to hear it.
  +
  +
  +
"What was that?"
  +
  +
  +
Dead silence for the next few seconds.
  +
  +
Eventually, he buggered off and Miles breathes a sigh of relief.
  +
  +
  +
Briefly scanning the area, he was in the clear to hack the floodlight on the left and move around the oblivious surveying thug as he goes to investigate - again, staying away from broken glass as he kept moving forward. Avoiding the Brute on the far right side, he went in-between some flipped cars to a broken brick wall to get to the next area. From that point, he was in luck; there laid an aid tent off to the left.
  +
  +
Maybe this would've been easy.
  +
  +
But this is the real world. Nothing is ever this easy.
  +
  +
  +
Miles: Gauze, iodine.....no antibiotics - Gotta keep looking.
  +
  +
  +
So he had to move right behind cover where a convict is looking at a broken car.
  +
  +
To the left there was an unpowered drone on top of another car, while to the right is a fire alarm - whatever was left of it. And whenever there was a drone, there was someone controlling it from the other side. Looking over, he was right.
  +
  +
That made Miles task a lot easier as he blinded the drone with the hacking app which gave off a zap to distract him, allowing him to keep to the opposite side and avoid detection.
  +
  +
  +
Up ahead, Miles laid eyes across some thugs beating down Sable mercs on the left. Given what they did to the city, it felt like a justified beating where it would, in turn, solidify the regular thugs to be just as dangerous as the actual law enforcement. To them, if anybody's gonna terrorize New York, it would be them. The unfortunate part of the matter was how crowded the area was, especially with more supplies ahead with another convict looking around.
  +
  +
Evasive maneuvers were required.
  +
  +
  +
Spotting a red generator, he hits it, lets it sparkle with and dashes to the right up to a loading dock, and carefully move forward to avoid a patrolling guard up here. Wait until he gets near one of the hackable wall panels to turn his attention so you can move around him, then go left over a barrier down towards the next aid tent.
  +
  +
Still no such luck.
  +
  +
  +
Miles: Couple trauma kits, no antibiotics.
  +
  +
  +
With no antibiotics at this tent either, he needed to keep moving forward along the dock - but another thug was up ahead with a sniper on top of a boat covering his position. The last thing he needed was getting his body filled with holes while he was just supposed to be making a friendly errand.
  +
  +
He found it wise to be careful.
  +
  +
So he aimed at hacking an object on his right and once it went off, he sprinted around the glass and the sniper's beam to the overturned car and ducked in to crawl through to the other side.
  +
  +
  +
From that point, he found the third tent shortly off up ahead to his other right.
  +
  +
All he could do his is keep his fingers crossed and hope for the best as he scurried through the containers, frantically snapping his head back behind him in case anyone came into sight.
  +
  +
  +
Miles: Please be the one, please be the one.
  +
  +
  +
The last bottle he grabbed ahold on: instant jackpot.
  +
  +
  +
Miles: Amoxicillin. Perfect!
  +
  +
  +
The poor boy however spoke too soon.
  +
  +
  +
For a Sable agent was tossed at him knocking the stash over Miles backed up to stay out of sight and looked up to see Rhino walking towards more Sable agents shooting at him
  +
  +
Miles: Holy shit! That's a very large man....
  +
  +
  +
Rhino pound the ground and charged at them behind their car and tossed it at them pinning them to the wall
  +
  +
  +
Miles: Guess I found the exploding bulldozer.....
  +
  +
  +
  +
The agents struggled as Rhino moved close to them with Scorpion hanging above them
  +
  +
Rhino: Supply route and schedules. NOW!!
  +
  +
  +
They didn't comply
  +
  +
  +
Rhino: ''Ya skazal''
  +
  +
Scorpion: Gentlemen. Allow me to apologize my associate is....inelegant.
  +
  +
  +
He hops down on the car as Miles watches on and see's a limbo driving up which he finds curious
  +
  +
  +
Scorpion: He doesn't understand the fine art of persuasion.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Enough you two!'''''
  +
  +
  +
Scorpion and Rhino look over as did Miles who was in deep shock of who came out of that limbo it was Martin Li in human form Miles finally saw in person the man who murdered his father
  +
  +
Miles wouldn't take his eyes off him given he clutched his fist thinking back to city hall Miles wanted to run up to Li and strangle him to avenge his father but with Scorpion and Rhino right there with him it be suicide a part of him didn't care and he looked around for a weapon near by to shoot him with but found nothing and went to watch again
  +
  +
  +
Martin: You're wasting precious time. The more you do, the more Osborn is still breathing safely. Just finish them off!
  +
  +
  +
Scorpion: Hey just so we're clear we're' NOT one of your demon freaks you can boss around.
  +
  +
Rhino: Yeah. So watch your tone Jackie Chan.
  +
  +
  +
Martin: I don't have time for this. I'll do it myself.
  +
  +
  +
Martin's hands glow pure negative and sucks the life out of the poor Sable Agents which made Miles back up gasping.
  +
  +
Miles: Did not need to see that.
  +
  +
  +
Miles stood up taking another look at his father's killer but then looks down to the antibiotics and it seemed he was down to a difficult choice Miles then did think what would his father really do if he was here
  +
  +
  +
So he picked up the medication and ran for or the large crates hopping over them but knocking a tool box down which the sound of it thudding caught the three villain's attention
  +
  +
  +
Rhino: What was that?
  +
  +
Scorpion: Check it out.
  +
  +
  +
Martin: If anyone's here....kill 'em.
  +
  +
  +
Rhino went ahead to where Miles existed as Li walked back to his limbo and Scorpion taking supplies from the dead agents
  +
  +
Miles: I don't think they saw me. Time to get out of here.
  +
  +
Miles landed on the other side but heard Rhino's voice echoing
  +
  +
  +
'''Whoever's here come out!'''
  +
  +
  +
Rhino smashed through the wall as Miles hid behind another crate he used his hacking app to set up near by lights which lured the giant human animal away for a bit for Miles to move along
  +
  +
He went for an underground tunnel hearing Rhino's stomps from above
  +
  +
  +
He climbed out and moved to another side only for Rhino to approach closer smashing crates he yelled and cursed out demanding whoever was here to come out
  +
  +
Miles kept using his hacking app to lure him away and moved along he found another tunnel and soon as he went through it Rhino smashed the other side of it reaching for anything in there
  +
  +
  +
Rhino: Where.....are.....YOU?!!
  +
  +
He pulled his arm out and looked somewhere else
  +
  +
  +
Miles: Oh god! Ok.....I gotta get out of here.....
  +
  +
  +
Miles climbed out only to notice he still wasn't out the woods yet Rhino destroyed most of the crates the area was no place for Miles to hide now
  +
  +
His only hope was using his hacking app to the light far behind him so he used it and it worked with Rhino yelling and smashing it giving Miles to reach another crate that was leaned on the wall between the street
  +
  +
Miles barely made it but it shook and he tripped and saw Rhino's hand grabbing the edge of the opening of the crate
  +
  +
  +
Miles got up and jumped for it in time the second Rhino was about to spot him but nothing was there now
  +
  +
  +
  +
Rhino: Baaaaahh!! It is chase of goose! I hate chase of goose!
  +
  +
  +
Rhino lift the crate forcing it over the wall and Miles watched it fly and crash and hearing Rhino say "Chase of goose" Miles realized he was safe he made a ran for it to get as far away from the area as possible and the minute he was he looked at the antibiotics sighing in relief but upset he lost a chance to confront Li but he knew he made the right choice
  +
  +
Miles: Better let May know I have these.
  +
  +
  +
He pulled out his phone about to call May till suddenly
  +
  +
  +
'''Get off me!'''
  +
  +
He saw two inmates mugging a civilian Miles tried to ignore it at first knowing this was a fight he couldn't win but when the man yelled "HELP!" Miles looked back and he couldn't ignore it
  +
  +
  +
Miles: Hey leave him alone!
  +
  +
The convicts looked back at him as the man ran away and then both smirked at him as they approached him
  +
  +
Inmate # 1: Big mistake kid.
  +
  +
Miles: But you can't just go push people around like that.
  +
  +
  +
Inmate # 1: Or what? Or this?!
  +
  +
He charged at Miles but he dodged him and the second inmate laughs
  +
  +
Inmate # 2: Kid's go guts.
  +
  +
Miles then thought back to Spider-Man's lesson how to deal with an opponent with no pro's around
  +
  +
  +
Miles: "Hips squared...."
  +
  +
He raised up his fists as the inmates laughed at him and the first one launched at him but Miles dodged again and at his first chance pounds his right hook in the jaw knocking the first inmate out ''Spidey's lesson paid off'' he thought even the second inmate was impressed
  +
  +
  +
Inmate # 2: Nah it's cool I'm good kid.
  +
  +
  +
He walked off with Miles feeling proud of himself though he wished it was Li he was fighting but that ''Want a taste phrase?'' seemed too average for him he felt he's got to work on a better fight banter
  +
  +
Miles took out his phone and called Peter as he walked back to F.E.A.ST.
  +
  +
  +
Miles: Hey Pete it's me. Listen uh....tell May and Uncle Aaron I'm on my way back but....I got to fill you in on some stuff to fill you in on some stuff. But don't tell them about it they'll freak out.
  +
  +
  +
At F.E.A.S.T. Peter heard everything Miles tells him what he just gone through
  +
  +
Peter: Incredible work Miles. Come back to F.E.A.S.T. and stay close to it. If the convicts get desperate they may try to raid it
  +
  +
'''Way ahead of you. Anything else happens I'll let you know.'''
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Great. Thanks Miles.
  +
  +
He cuts off and calls Yuri while walking to the exit
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Yuri. I have Rhino and Scorpion's location. Li has them attacking Oscorp's relief centers.
  +
  +
'''Think I know which they're hitting next. Reports of a possible earthquake and demolition derby at the Harlem'''
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Sounds like our boys. I'm heading there now.
  +
  +
  +
'''By the way you holding up ok?'''
  +
  +
  +
Peter: I'm a bit tired. And hungry. but I'm hanging in there.
  +
  +
'''We'll get through this. I know we will. Keep the faith.'''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Peter cuts off again rushes out jumps back in his suit and swings to the location
  +
  +
  +
Later that hour at the Harlem Center Rhino attacks more Sable agents grabbing two of them again but then a large object is tossed at him from behind making him drop them and Rhino looked back to see his old arch nemesis
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Pick on someone your own size Rhino.
  +
  +
Rhino: There is no one my own size pauk.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Or....maybe we can just talk it out.
  +
  +
  +
Pete's spider sense goes off and out of no where Scorpion shoots venom from his tail but this time he dodges it
  +
  +
Scorpion: Never send an 8 foot infant to do a man's job. Let's finish him!
  +
  +
  +
Peter managed to defeat Electro with the help of two of his old enemies but this time.....it was now two against him
  +
  +
  +
  +
From previous experience, engaging the big ugly tank was a waste of time as he's pretty impervious to just about anything he can and already has thrown at him. And even with the walking tank being distracted easily, that left him wide open for Scorpion. Luckily, that nightmare session a few hours earlier was good for something.
  +
  +
He already know how to defeat him.
  +
  +
BOTH of them.
  +
  +
  +
Rhino made the first move, charging forward at the wall-crawler at high speeds like a Mac truck. Unfortunately, he likes to perform his signature charge attack where he hunches over with one hand on the ground before lunging forward, so that made it all too obvious. That meant Peter was ready to dodge those sprints at a moment's notice and he did, jumping clean over his back and the horn. Only then that left Scorpion launching his streaks of poison at him since it normally took Aleksei a while to recover.
  +
  +
As he lunges down onto him, he clamps down onto Peter's arms and legs; the claws applying just enough force to keep him grounded as Scorpion readied his tail and poisonous stinger. Peter was able to dodge the tail, skimming his head to the far left and tripping Scorpion up from the legs only for his spider sense to go off and dodge the stinger again.
  +
  +
At the last second the stinger bypassed him, Spidey slid aboard the metal on the tail and sucker punched him across the mask and kicked him a good three more times before Mac retaliated with a few haymakers, none of which connected by the time Rhino came charging back towards him and Spidey leaped our the way again.
  +
  +
Gargan barely had time to react. But he barely got turned inside as he leaped to a safe point to avoid getting completely curb-stomped.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Needless to say, neither party were satisfied of the others involvement. "Out my way, Gargan!",
  +
  +
"Eyes on the road, hooves on the wheel, you walking imp!", Gargan retaliated.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Aww, like an old married couple, you two.
  +
  +
  +
This was one of three separate instances where he caught the two of them bickering around over what to do, who to do, how to do, why to do, it never ended between Mac and Aleksei and Peter adored that greatly, not because it made great conversation but because it made it easier to distract them.
  +
  +
The next moment Scorpion made a move, Peter just dropkicks him in midair as he flings back towards Rhino and caused another uproar as their metal scratches off each other.
  +
  +
  +
Rhino: Gargan!
  +
  +
Scorpion: You see me in the way, you waltz the other direction, you little—oh shit!
  +
  +
  +
A nearby crane hurdles towards the both of them at a moderate enough speed fast enough to knock one of them silly. Gargan lunges out the way while the crane clocks Rhino square in the chest, barely knocking him back near the crates. It would've done more damage to him if he hadn't actually caught it.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Oh no.
  +
  +
  +
The cables snap off the actual tip of the crane, leaving Rhinos bare strength as the only thing holding it momentarily still for the meantime. Then he chucks it at Peter who flips over it just in time, but not enough to avoid it as he collided with Spidey head on. Peter grips ahold of the very horn intend to spike him and just pushes back for dear life, none of which disguised the fact that it was barely slowing him down.
  +
  +
  +
So this meant a good time for some witty back and forth banter, in Peter's eyes.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: So Aleksei, had a chat with Mr. Tripleply and Big Bird. I know the endgame for them. What's in it for you?
  +
  +
Rhino: Freedom. True freedom. No more suit, no more Rhino!
  +
  +
"Awww man, I'm gonna miss that suit." Peter grunts heavily, the strain taking a toll on him. "It was very distinctive."
  +
  +
Rhino: Be thankful, ''pauk''. Without suit, I make less trouble for you.
  +
  +
  +
He grunts heavily, pushing Spider-Man off which only fettered him momentarily as he regained balance and traction on a nearby light post. Swinging around, he gained enough forward momentum to barely flinch Rhino with a dropkick to his suit only to leap higher up and release a giant pipe from its latchings.
  +
  +
It crashes down on top of him, slamming down onto his head - enough time to zip and start his beatdown - but not ready to flee after his last combo attack since he was hit with Scorpions Venom projectiles. While this wasn't an injection like last time, it did decrease Peter's movements momentarily long enough for Scorpion to lunge down onto him again and this time, carry him up with him.
  +
  +
By the leg, again.
  +
  +
  +
Holding in his frustration for being grabbed in the same spot again was dwindling downwards slower and slower by each day. and hit him with his Web Shooter to send him tumbling down over a few container crates long enough so he can lunge down for a zip attack of his own and quickly swing away.
  +
  +
But then a giant chunk of concrete is thrown his way and he barely dodges it. If he ran too far away, this was the process that was bound to happen but the risk needed to be taken to get even a moderate chance of winning. So for now, he was left staying somewhat close in range, ready to dodge if Rhino made another move. Sure enough, he did as more concrete debris is thrown his way which Peter manages to hurl back at Rhino.
  +
  +
However, he dodges the debris ever so slightly as it nails Scorpion instead via lack of paying attention.
  +
  +
  +
This time Peter decides to hitch a ride, holding two weblines over the horn as he slid close behind him. With the strength of his webbing, it would allow him to temporary blind Rhino but redirecting his steering at the same time which ended up making a ruckus out the shipping center. Both of them were left leaving the center in much worse condition than it was when either of them arrived.
  +
  +
And Mac, rather than try and ease the already scathing high tension, sat back and bickered out loud why a literal walking Russian tank was playing piggyback with the eight-legged invertebrate.
  +
  +
  +
Scorpion: The hell you doin', idiot! Get him!
  +
  +
Rhino: How about come down and help, ''durak''?!
  +
  +
Now this was the kind of banter Peter needed to pass the time and he took joy in playing along.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Please, c'mon. There's plenty of me to go around.
  +
  +
  +
Around the time he forced Rhino into totaling a truck after three full minutes of riding horsey, Mac finally lost his patience and leaped onwards, down onto Spidey while he was still strapped to Rhino's back. He then wrapped his tail around his neck, similar to back at the Raft and tossed him forward while Peter still hung onto those weblines for dear life. Even as Scorpion forced both of his feet down onto Peter's spine, repeatedly slamming down onto his back, Peter wouldn't let go of the webs.
  +
  +
Until the webs snapped in the opposite direction, violently jerking him back towards Rhinos direction as he scuffed him with the horn which spiked Peter back in midair. Finally letting go of the weblines, Rhino waited at just the right elevation to hit Spidey with a clothesline, knocking him inside out.
  +
  +
  +
It left him out of the air and right into both of their mechanical grasps, thanks to the wear and tear Peter’s body sustained hours before and what really felt like years worth of it.
  +
  +
Another tug on the leg from Rhino and he’s left dangling, hanging upside down with the blood quickly rushing to his head.
  +
  +
  +
Like his own personal punching bag.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: So.....so you want out the suit. What's your bargain, Macdonald?
  +
  +
Rhino: Gargan has no principles. He fights for profit.
  +
  +
  +
Ticked but still smooth in his demeanor, Mac inches his tail at Rhino, fearlessly before edging at Spider-Man ever so inches away from his left eye.
  +
  +
  +
Scorpion: No, this time is different: the moneys a bonus. I'd hunt and scalp Spider-Man for free.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Then at least—least—please tell me you and Octavius got a name, or something? Scary Six? The dirty half dozen?
  +
  +
Scorpion: How about the ‘We killed Spider-Man and used his corpse as a blanket’ six?
  +
  +
Rhino: Gargan, please. You embarrass yourself.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Dandy. Sinister Six it is, then.
  +
  +
  +
Peter wriggles out Rhinos grasp and backing himself up just enough to gain susceptible distance between the two. Switching his webshooters settings, he blasts both Scorpion and Rhino back by emitting a familiar vibratory wave of pressure that stunned one and blew back the other a few feet away.
  +
  +
However, Mac recovered almost as quick as he fell and lunges at the wallcrawler yet again, ramming his stinger up closer to Peter’s face. Distractions, distractions, Peter thought to himself noticing how Mac kept leaving himself open. One THWIP later and he’s blinded by the webs unable to see his own tail being wrapped around his body and neck while Peter just hoists him above his shoulders and then drops him down once before he bounces back up.
  +
  +
The tail wrapped around made for a slight bounce in its thread as Scorpion bounced up and off the ground like a basketball for a solid second before being whipped around by the tail and knee-d square in the face as went timber and fell over.
  +
  +
  +
This time, he stayed down.
  +
  +
  +
Rhino wouldn’t, as he came charging again.
  +
  +
Luckily, Spidey hung down past another nearby crane which he used his web-shooters to slam it into Rhinos face. Once again, it left him stunned enough to get a combo off on him. He gets in five kicks and two punches before leaping off the horn in Rhinos suit and zipping back down to further catapult him into the ground. The ground pound was met with a resounding thud as Aleksei laid motionless.
  +
  +
Just so happens, he wasn’t far from where Scorpion laid knocked out.
  +
  +
  +
"Alright guys, we can stop now. I promise I won’t tell anybody”, Peter assures repositioning high enough to where he was out of sight from the two monstrous adversaries and for good reasons.
  +
  +
  +
It looked like the two were no longer occupied with the wall-crawler but with each other with electricity fizzing and sparking from both of their suits and so were both their demeanors: fizzing with frustration and contempt and anger. Their complete lack of and refusal to coalign with each other resulted in yet another embarrassing defeat for the two of them.
  +
  +
Scorpion was less pleased than Rhino was.
  +
  +
  +
Scorpion: Do you have any idea what'll happen when Octavius finds out you failed?!
  +
  +
Rhino: I FAILED?!
  +
  +
Scorpion: Yes, YOU! Freak show!
  +
  +
  +
  +
That was the moment Peter realized I'm guessing I should let these two wrestle it out.
  +
  +
'Wrestle' was a bit of an embellishment; but so was calling it a curb-stomp with Rhino charging stocks Scorpion full speed all pissed off and Scorpion, known for talking the talk more than walking the walk, begins to back up and run the other way. A few blasts of venom from his stinger did nothing for his cause, for it barely hits any visible areas of Rhino's skin and only pisses him off even more.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spidey yanks down an open dockcrate, blocking Mac's path. Stunted and distracted for just the right amount of time, Aleksei pumbles him from behind, forcing both him and Gargan into the crate and sealing shut from the vibration. Said vibration continued all throughout the crate, scuffling, ruffling, pillaging all inside, Peter was given off the impression that the two were destroying each other.
  +
  +
So just to make sure the two don't rumble their way out, Peter covers the doors with a giant sticky web for extra duration. Luckily, his webbing dissolves in one hours time which was more than enough for the cops to come by and apprehend the next two members of the Sinister Six.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: A little forced together time might help you boys play nice.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Crisis averted once more. That's four down, two to go.
  +
  +
He was at the home stretch now, just a few more levels left before he was at the final boss. Of course this was only a warmup, an appetizer for what was to eventually come. The challenge was nothing he couldn't handle, though.....
  +
  +
....unless his body had anything to say about it.
  +
  +
  +
  +
The guy could barely stand at this point, let alone kneel to catch his breath. Fourteen broken bones and all, possibly even more, and yet Peter refused to let his body shut down on him. Now wasn't the time for that.
  +
  +
He still had three more loose ends to tie up.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Karen, call Yuri.
  +
  +
  +
''Calling Yuri Watanabe.''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Ok, Yuri. That's Aleksei and Mac checked off the list. All that's left is Li and Octavius.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Then you can bet your ass it isn't gonna be easy. Even then, we have bigger—'''''
  +
  +
  +
He hears coughing. But the cough sound a lot more like hacking from the other side and it did not sound pretty.
  +
  +
  +
'''''Look, they’re only half the problem though. Devil Breath cases are escalating faster than anticipated and Oscorp's being very coy about the antiserum. I'm worried they're seeing dollar signs at a sellers market.'''''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: What else did you expect from our beloved mayor? Also, are you, umm, you hanging in there?
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: No. I'm sick. I think—
  +
  +
  +
  +
She coughs again, this time louder than usual as she barely grips the edge of the desk for forced stability. Not just for balance but for sanity's sake too, for the once chaotic state of the New York State Police Department has now been left in utter shambles. Fellows officers and captains and lieutenants are staying further apart from each other to prevent contracting the disease and those who have caught it were either coughing heavily, hospitalized or already dead. The once but functional state of the police department that Yuri had grown fond of was in disarray now.
  +
  +
It was an utter mess....and so was she as she mustered the strength aside her nasally voice and admit she was far from 100% too.
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: I think I caught it....
  +
  +
  +
Silence overtakes the line. Yuri could assume that this would've come as no surprise to the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man but she couldn't tell just worried it made him. If only he could see how petrified he became for a second, his eyes and face freezing up in dumbfounded shock and appall.
  +
  +
Even moreso when she uttered the ten worded sentence; lines he knew Yuri wasn't known for expressing or supporting.
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: I don't think I can keep this up much longer.....
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Hey, come on. I've never known you to give up.'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: I'm not so sure I believe that anymore. I did.....everything I knew how to, gave all I had and things just got worse.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''I've been in your shoes in that instance. There hasn't been a worse feeling and that rarely passes.'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: Please....just stop with the condescending wise owl act, ok? I—I need to sign off. I'm sorry Spider-Man but I have to.
  +
  +
  +
More silence overtook the line.
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: My....My mother has it too. She's been alone since Dad died and no one—
  +
  +
The facade was slowly breaking and crumbling apart and her sensitive side was beginning to show. Peter could practically hear and feel the tears beginning to stream out of Yuri's bloodshot eyes.
  +
  +
Yuri: No should be alone during this time. I should be with her right now when....when...
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Yuri, I understand. I'll leave Scorpion and Rhino to your men and have them take over. Leave Li and Octavius to me; two of my best people are on Devil's Breath anti-serum. Go. Be with your family. Make those moments last for however long you can; hold on tight and don't let go.
  +
  +
  +
''Thank you. And Spider-Man?''
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
She sniffles slightly as she brings about the courage to say it.
  +
  +
  +
Yuri: Thanks—--thanks for being a friend.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'Friend': that was the one word he'd be dying to hear from her for years now. Just never thought it'd be a scenario where'd it probably be the last time he'd see her. And judging from how genuine she sounded before she hung up over the line, she well and truly meant that.
  +
  +
  +
His face scrunched up underneath the mask. There went and came even more fuel that Peter needed to close the book on this long overbearing chapter.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Karen, call MJ.
  +
  +
  +
  +
''Calling Mary Jane Watson.''
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Hey Pete, hey. Sorry, it's Ned. Look, I think it's safe to say this fiasco has gotten a lot more tricky for us. Me and MJ spent most of the evening and most of the morning digging through city, state and federal databases and pretty much came up empty handed. We even took a look through the dark web and basically got nothing.'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''What Neds saying is if there is a Devil Breaths lab somewhere in the city, it's off the books. To give them credit, that's one thing they're good at. I don't wanna jump to conclusions here but the next best place I could think to look right now is Li, Otto or Norman's personal files.'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I doubt Li and Otto would keep traumatic events like that stashed in their offices. Norman is the better bet. Already looked through his personal computer.....so that would just leave his penthouse.
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
Ned: WHAT? Dude, that place is crawling with Sable's men. If they spot you, other residents could get hurt in a firefight.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''That’s why it has to be MJ.'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Hearing her name on the other side of the phone brought her almost immediately joy and validation: she was waiting years for Peter to give her clearance to be the hero rather then begrudgingly doing it behind his back. Given how there wasn’t much of a choice, this was their one chance.
  +
  +
And she couldn’t wait.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Ned: Sure about that, man?
  +
  +
MJ: Ned, he’s right. I think we can get in if we work together on this. If you can deactivate the security, I can get in undetected. I can sneak in, find the lab's location and get out. No has to be the wiser.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''And what if something goes wrong?'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Then you call me for backup. This is risky for you two but we do need that location. Yuri just caught the virus and we're running out of time; this is our best bet so let’s hope it ain’t all for nothing. You guys wait for me to get nearby, then make your move.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''I don't think this is a good idea.....but crazy’s gotten us out of trouble before so why stop now? I just hope y’all know what you're doing.'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: We usually do.
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Call soon as you're in position, Pete. We'll be ready.'''''
  +
  +
  +
Our hero then swings towards Norman's penthouse not far from Oscorp soon as he was close enough he posed and tapped on his ear
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Ok Karen give me vision link.
  +
  +
  +
''Afraid I can't Peter. MJ isn't wearing E.D.I.T.H.''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: What??
  +
  +
''She's left her at her apartment but we have another way to commune with her with your logo.''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Ohh, right.
  +
  +
  +
Peter looks down to his chest as the logo links him to a USB to commune with MJ on her cell phone weather or not on a call with her
  +
  +
  +
''Speak.''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: MJ can you hear me?
  +
  +
  +
''Peter? What.....??''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Karen uploaded a new link to your phone with my logo with we can talk. I won't see anything but you can fill me in on what's happening. But I'm now a couple of blocks away. You guys let me know if there's trouble.
  +
  +
  +
  +
On MJ's side she and Ned were just outside the entrance to the building as they heard Peter's info he was near by she nods to Ned letting him know and gives her a nod back
  +
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Thanks Pete. Wish us luck. Ready?
  +
  +
Ned: Let's do this.
  +
  +
  +
They both walk in to see the whole lobby crowded with angry residents most of them wearing masks
  +
  +
MJ: Ok Ned. Norman's penthouse is on the top flour but the elevator's locked down. What do you suggest?
  +
  +
Ned: This whole building is under lockdown too. Residents have been forced to vacate their units while Sable International performs a security sweep. No doubt for that Devil's Breath stuff.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Then the only way in is the security room.
  +
  +
Ned: Leave that to me. But with that guard over there guarding it there's no way to get in.
  +
  +
MJ: Then we'll have to improvise....cause a distraction.
  +
  +
Ned: Draw their attention away.
  +
  +
  +
Thinking alike the two first bump to one another
  +
  +
MJ and Ned (Both): Sorry.
  +
  +
  +
And both of them went seperate directions to the lobby as people were talking angry and complaining why they have to be down here MJ went to the first crowd
  +
  +
Man: Left my damn inhaler upstairs...
  +
  +
MJ: But I heard they'll let you back up if you claim special circumstances-health emergency might do that.
  +
  +
  +
Man: Really? Thanks. Come on let's go talk to security.
  +
  +
And they did as Ned went up to the second crowd
  +
  +
Woman: Ugh! Every second we stay down here we risk catching that plague.
  +
  +
Ned: My roomate from college told me we should stay away from receptionists. It's been coughing up a storm.
  +
  +
Woman: What?! Then they have to let us back up stairs!
  +
  +
  +
And they too went up to the guard
  +
  +
MJ and Ned (Both): Super Spies.
  +
  +
  +
A number of crowds started protesting at the guard he called for backup as she stood away from the door to the security room
  +
  +
MJ: Ok Ned you're up.
  +
  +
Ned: Wish me luck.
  +
  +
When another guard came out of the security room he leaves the door open and Ned sneaks in undetected and shuts the door behind him and Ned leans to a stealth position noticing a couple of Sable Agents near by
  +
  +
Ned: Uh oh....
  +
  +
  +
Ned hides behind a shelf but notices a taser near by
  +
  +
Ned: Hel-lo.
  +
  +
Ned takes the taser giving an impressionable expression on it
  +
  +
  +
Ned: Boy do I know a few Sable Agents wo'd love to meet you.
  +
  +
He then creeps by the door where two Agents were in the control room one near the opened door and the other at the controls
  +
  +
Ned soon tasered the first Agent dropping quickly without the other noticing he then creeped up the other tasering him too and he drops
  +
  +
  +
Ned: Time to unlock that elevator. This is crazy, man.
  +
  +
  +
He went on the controls unlocking the elevator which on the camera fee in Norman's penthouse he and Sable are there but are drawn out by the alarm Ned went on his cell calling Mary Jane still at the lobby
  +
  +
  +
Ned: Ok MJ, you're up. Osborn's clearing out with that Sable chick and the elevator's unlocked. You may be on your own for this but you know what to do.
  +
  +
  +
'''Understood. Thanks Ned.'''
  +
  +
  +
  +
Back out in the lobby Mary Jane hung up seeing Norman and Silver walk out of the elevator and she quickly rushed in but not without Silver looking back getting suspicious someone maybe in there but turned away as the doors closed
  +
  +
MJ soon entered the main home of Norman Osborn and looked around as she walked through the main hall to the living room
  +
  +
MJ: Looks like Norman's guards have all cleared out. If he's hiding anything up here I'll find it.
  +
  +
MJ took time to explore the place and soon came across Norman's desk which she saw a high tech Oscorp mask the blue prints said it can see through solid objects
  +
  +
She was curious enough to put it on and detect something behind the wall by the portrait
  +
  +
MJ: Holy shit....this mask is incredible. Looks like Norman put some use in Tony Stark's Iron Man masks or he put this in a brand design of his own into them. Wait a minute....is it showing a hidden door behind the wall? Wonder if it leads to the answer we're looking for.
  +
  +
She put the mask down and walks over and observes the patriate of Norman and older Harry (Tyler Posey)
  +
  +
MJ: The fabules Osborn boys. "Norman bids his son farewell." I'm guessing this was when Harry left for Europe. I hope he's safe given Li's after his dad. But what doesn't make since is why Norman was so dramatic about a trip to Europe.
  +
  +
MJ was more curious she moved the portrait to find a key pad behind it
  +
  +
  +
MJ: A secret key pad behind the Family Portrait. Now I know where Harry gets his love for spy movies from. I'm willing to bet this text on the wall must be off the day Harry left for Europe. Maybe that's the code to whatver this door opens to. Least that's my guess
  +
  +
  +
MJ continued to explore the place from kitchen lounge giant bathroom to Norman's room where she finds the frame picture of Emily Osborn Norman's deceased wife and Harry's mother when Mary Jane took it to observe it remembering Emily from the younger days she felt something attached on the back she turned it over finding a key the key to Harry's room
  +
  +
She was puzzled about it and soon found Harry's door where she unlocked it and went in to see Harry's bed seeming lik it was a hospital bed whoch worried MJ more than just Li going after him later
  +
  +
MJ: What the hell....this...this can't be for Harry can it?
  +
  +
  +
Mary Jane manage to put her worries aside for now and walked to Harry's desk and found his journal that was left open saying Harry wrote her Peter Ned and all the Queen's gang bidding them all fair well and apologizing for not telling them he was sick but MJ found the date Harry left
  +
  +
  +
MJ: His last entry marked....July 18th. That must be the code to Norman's private room.
  +
  +
MJ memorized the code and puts the journal downbut heard voices outside the room and it was Norman and Sable arguing by the lounge
  +
  +
Silver: I am only saying we shouldn't rush off without a plan.
  +
  +
Norman: "We"?! YOU are staying here. I'm not afraid of those lunatics. Otto and Martin can kiss my ass! The antiserum is ready. And '''I''' am going to supercise the production
  +
  +
Silver: Afraid or not you will be completly vulnerable to Li and Octavius without me.
  +
  +
Norman: I seem to be completly vulnerable to them WITH you. I'm going alone. END OF DISCUSSION!
  +
  +
  +
Looks like Sable got told off by Norman's arrogance herself leaving her in disbelief knowing what he was walking into but nothing better to do than cool down to get some air
  +
  +
Silver: Keep team two on stand by. I'm getting some air.
  +
  +
Sable Agent: Yes maim.
  +
  +
  +
MJ was now out numbered she had to find a way to sneak pass the agents without being detected and this would be harder than her infiltration at the base in Central Park but she had to get into that room if there's any hope on saving the city
  +
  +
MJ came out from the patio room Norman's bedroom sneaking pass the Agent in there behind the couch to the out door pool using one of Pete's squeakers to lure the one there away she made her way back to the kitchen to the living room to find four Sable Agents patrolling the area
  +
  +
She used more squeakers to lure them away from the key pad MJ crept behind Norman's desk over to the key pad dialed the code and gain access to Norman's private room
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Super creepy.
  +
  +
MJ explored the lab first observing container that held in spiders genetic spiders almost like the one that bit Peter that turned him into Spider-Man
  +
  +
MJ: Wow. Spiders. What's Norman doing with them? Is he trying to reverse engineer Peter's abilities? The labels on these cages....."Bio-Electrokinesis". "Optical-Camouflage"? "Eugenic-Spinner"? What the hell is he trying to create?
  +
  +
The next thing MJ went to was Norman's second desk in there where she observed prototype-hand grenades that had faces like jack-o lanterns
  +
  +
MJ: Either Norman's a bigger Halloween fan than Ned. Or....these grenades could be branded for something else.
  +
  +
She then came across a steel tank which she heard a ding in there but ignored it as she went to the main computer where she pulled up Norman's most personal files that pinpointed the location to the lab of the antiserum
  +
  +
MJ: My god I knew it! 10th and Cathedral. Oscorp's records department. That's the perfect place to hide a secret biotech facility. "GR-27.....Martin Li Incident"?
  +
  +
  +
That had MJ more puzzled she clicked on it and we only see her reaction and hear what's happening chatter of Norman's voice even Otto's people speaking in Japanese screams and an explosion which made MJ cover her mouth in shock like if she was watching a horror movie
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Oh my god....this is why, Li....Norman, you son of a bitch!
  +
  +
  +
Mary Jane plugged in her drive and started to download but then looked over at the spider cages again noticing the Eugenic-Spinner was making direct eye contact at her MJ couldn't help but to stare back at it when suddenly it jumped on the glass startling her making her back up but then....she tripped knocking over the Optical-Camouflage's cage
  +
  +
MJ: Shit....
  +
  +
'''*KREEESH!*'''
  +
  +
  +
MJ: No...
  +
  +
  +
The glass breaking caught Sable's attention outside
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''''Who's there?!'''''
  +
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Oh fu---
  +
  +
  +
She backed up again only to knock over the Eugenic-Spinner's cage too causing it to shatter too
  +
  +
  +
  +
'''Someone get that door open!'''
  +
  +
  +
  +
MJ took her drive the second it was done processing and hid behind the table with the door opening automatically and Silver walks in looking around
  +
  +
Silver: Who's in here?!
  +
  +
  +
Silver noticed the knocked down spider cages
  +
  +
  +
Silver: Show yourself intruder! Are you still there?
  +
  +
  +
While trying to stay silent MJ did noticed the Optical-Camouflage spider on her shoulder twtiching it's legs that almost made her scream
  +
  +
  +
Silver: You do not want me to find you.
  +
  +
  +
Assuming there's still an intruder in the building Sable walks out putting her men on high alert Mary Jane the chance to rub the spiders on her off and headed out in stealth
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Pete. I've got the lab location. And a lot more that holds all the answers to this situation. How far are you?
  +
  +
  +
'''Two avenue's over. Just saw Ned walk out. Say the word and I'm there.'''
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Great. Keep the motor running.
  +
  +
MJ stealthly made her way back to the patio luring agents away with squekers again for a few minutes but suddenly she had a warning shot the agents had spotted her and were coming at her MJ pulled over the flower shelf to barricade them in and ran to the balcony rail
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Peter you here?
  +
  +
  +
'''Turning off Lex now. You ok?'''
  +
  +
  +
MJ: I won't be in a few seconds. Northwest corner.
  +
  +
  +
Sable arrived and shot the glass off the doors to approach MJ
  +
  +
Silver: Get her!
  +
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Too late Spidey! You're UP!
  +
  +
  +
She jumps off the rails with Sable looking down at her in shock MJ fell and fell as she screamed but suddenly.....
  +
  +
....Spider-Man appears out of nowhere catching his former lov like he use to in the old days which made Sable dissatisfied knowing now he was involved in this
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: You....are crazy.
  +
  +
MJ: And you're amazing.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Fasten your seatbelt, it's bout to get a little bumpy!
  +
  +
  +
The warning taken to heart, she held on tightly around Pete's neck and chest as he let go of the web rather sluggishly with his body taking enough of the strain today as they dropped from 6 feet above their intended drop point. Both are left bracing for heavy impact as they crashland with both rolling over the grainy texture of the roof. The two were left grunting, waiting for something to break their momentum so they don't go hurdling off the roof. Luckily, the momentum halted as they stopped themselves.
  +
  +
  +
Now miles away from the penthouse, barely escaping within the skin of their teeth, it left the two both perplexed but energized from all the adrenaline running through them and in quite a stunning fashion. Both of them sort of rolled off the other, soaking in the air and allowing themselves to breathe and recuperate after that daredevil-like rescue.....which always seems to happen last minute every friggin' time.
  +
  +
At that point however, both of them slowly inch and perk a smile before the two just burst out laughing.
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Be honest now: did being with me ever stop being so sick?
  +
  +
MJ: Honestly, it never did: Just got better at hiding at it.
  +
  +
  +
The brief defusing of the situation had its benefits for the both of them as many of their breaks had done similarly: allowing the two to catch up with each other more and more and more slightly. Neither haven’t caught up with absolutely everything since their initial separation months prior and while now seemed like the absolute worst time, like it always was in the life of a vigilante, they didn’t care.
  +
  +
They felt this moment was justified after all they’ve been through together, as awkward as moments like these normally became the further they drifted apart.
  +
  +
Even the slightest of stares resonated heavily with each other, with MJ being the only one vocal about it when she caught Peter briefly staring.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Umm.....why are you staring at me?
  +
  +
  +
He perched his eyebrows as the smile fades.
  +
  +
Inching his back and head up off the roof, he sat right then and there, arms folded, legs crisscross applesauce. Smacking his lips, Peter inevitably faces down again with the mask off.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: This is nice. I—I needed nice, after all the chaos this pandemic put us through.
  +
  +
  +
That's when he stares back at MJ who was leveling up with him, letting them take a brief break from the world for just a few moments.
  +
  +
Not so much from each other though, as Peter was quick to notice his hand being held rather tightly. He barely takes a second to acknowledge her holding her hand until he actually sees it.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: You're holding my hand.
  +
  +
MJ: I know. And I missed us too.
  +
  +
  +
She had taken his hand, as an offer of trust and friendship – and love. Peter paused for a moment, before intertwining his fingers around the base of her hand. As they stared across from each other, glancing deep into their psyches, big smiles let out from both of their faces. They were glad to have each other's trust and respect again.
  +
  +
And finally, for both of them, something from the old days had come back.
  +
  +
  +
But like always, it was almost never the right time. They had a city to save and on very short notice too.
  +
  +
  +
"You got everything you need?", Peter asked, hoping nothing was replaced following that ‘daring rescue’.
  +
  +
MJ: Yeah.....and a lot more.
  +
  +
She has to say that begrudgingly holding out her USB from her pocket.
  +
  +
MJ: I know the whole breaking and entering thing is bad habit but it's so informative, you know? And this is the most informative it's been cause Norman's got this whole mad scientist thing going on; not to mention he's clearly obsessed with you.
  +
  +
She shudders over the thought of the spiders, their furry legs crawling up her arm and neck. The unpleasantness was not warranted but it was worth it.
  +
  +
MJ: So many spiders.
  +
  +
  +
The pause was worrisome.
  +
  +
  +
Here came the hard part of her job: sharing the information. It was always sort of tricky getting to talk about certain situations around him, not that it wasn't common. People have different stances on many stages of life and society all the time but Peter's war-on-crime vigilante style of true justice has to him making a lot of decisions about what and how on a lot stuff, some of which were completely out of his control. The information she found in went gonna be any harder for him to swallow.
  +
  +
If she does tell him, he'll hold himself responsible like he always does. And if she doesn't tell him, he'll get suspicious either way and dig into it himself and he'll be even more devastated that one of the few people he trusts kept this from him while in the middle of citywide pandemic.
  +
  +
This was a no-win scenario for the both of them, however way they'd choose to approach this. Peter couldn't help but notice how she was holding the USB from the angle on the top of her index and pointer fingers.
  +
  +
  +
Something was biting at her from what she found.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: If there's something wrong, just tell me now. Much easier that way to avoid anymore heartbreak.
  +
  +
  +
Speaking from the heart wholeheartedly, he knew neither one of them could afford more pain on this ride and they're already at the end. There was no sign of dread or terror in MJ's eyes as she slowly inches her head towards him but there was definitely a sense of worry there.
  +
  +
  +
MJ: Are you sure you want to see what's on this?
  +
  +
Peter: Yeah......
  +
  +
MJ: You do this, there’s no turning back from the truth.
  +
  +
Peter: That’s all I ever wanted.
  +

He climbs up to a vertical basis before adjusting his suit on his left arm. The odd way of testing that wasn't extremely far-fetched, as the port perfectly crafted for a USB to slide into his left webshooter was shown.
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Karen. Activate vision slide.
  +
  +
''Already done''
  +
  +
The video imaged viewed on from his web shooter and given MJ seen it earlier was nervous more how Peter will react to this an image of a lab with Martin Li as a kid his parents that Peter reconized from the shrine in his office and Norman and Otto outside the lab
  +
  +
'''''Aaaaand we are rolling. I....will be next door. Just relax Martin and let the medicine do it's work.'''''
  +
  +
Li's mother spoke in Japanese telling him not to be scared and his father also talking in Japanese telling him to relax then Peter's eyes widen soon as panic started flooding the room even wider when he saw Otto
  +
  +
  +
'''''I thought this was just a consulation!'''''
  +
  +
'''''It was! But the boy seemed ready!'''''
  +
  +
Peter's eyes were horrorfied as the scene got worse with Li's mother yelling for help when Martin seemed to be having a seizer and Li's father banged on the window
  +
  +
'''''I'm getting them out!'''''
  +
  +
'''''No! Not yet!'''''
  +
  +
  +
Li's parents held their son's hands as the process got worse.....then Peter's jaw dropped as the young Martin shifts into the negative form Li had done for the past weeks and then......
  +
  +
  +
'''BOOM!'''
  +
  +
  +
The lab experienced a powerful chain reaction which destroyed it along with Li's Parents who were burned by the blast and dead rightinfront of poor little Martin who there became....Mr. Negative
  +
  +
Now Peter had the same reaction as MJ did at the lab and he shed a tear Norman and Otto on the fee looked in shock and Otto looked at him with a blameful expression
  +
  +
  +
'''''What have you DONE?!'''''
  +
  +
Peter: Karen turn it off! I can't watch anymore!
  +
  +
Obeying his command KAREN shut off the image video and Mary Jane looked at him sadly Peter fell back in shock and sat on the ledge of the roof with MJ looking sad for him given another man he looked up to was involve in a senseless tragedy
  +
  +
MJ: Peter I'm so sorry.
  +
  +
Peter: It all makes now. What Otto told me before. Why Harry went dark on us before he left. He's sick. And Norman and Li...
  +
  +
MJ: I know.
  +
  +
Peter: This is all my fault.
  +
  +
MJ: No. Not the "All my faults" again. Peter look at me.
  +
  +
  +
He did
  +
  +
  +
MJ: We don't have to go through that song and dance again. You're not alone anymore in this Pete. And I'm sorry I left you that way for so long. But just know you have what it takes to make this right because Ben believed in you. The Avengers believed in you. Tony believed in you.
  +
  +
She couldn't help but to reach out for his hand again slightly shaking
  +
  +
MJ: Now I believe in you. I know I wasn't always keen on why you do this on your own but now I understand. Maybe a part of me always did. I'm here for you ok?
  +
  +
  +
Peter let himself break down for the first time in while even more his eyes bloated in red tears somewhat steaming down his cheeks soaking them he simply reached out to MJ shaking just as badly as her he intertwined his fingers with his....
  +
  +
.....finally holding her hand too
  +
  +
  +
Peter: Thank you Mary Jane Watson.
  +
  +
She then only smiled briefly in pain before reaching forward and kissing Pete in the cheek and then things started to get better between them
  +
  +
MJ: You go after Li and Otto. Miles Ned and I will look after F.E.A.S.T.
  +
  +
He nods to her and after a moment of eye contact he pulls his mask back on and makes another eye to eye with the woman he still loves and turns away swinging off
  +
  +
MJ watches the man she still loves too swing away but unaware.....
  +
  +
.....both the Optical-Camouflage and Eugenic-Spinner spiders were still on her
  +
  +
The Spinner crawled down to her back as the Camouflage went up to her shoulder
  +
  +
  +
Soon SPidey landed on another roof along with the way to the hidden lab
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Karen we have to get that Antiserum and start putting things right again. There has to be a way to reach the real Martin Li and Dr. Octavius. Convince them somehow to give up this crusade for revenge on Norman Osborn. They both did so much good for this city. They can't throw their legacies away just to spite Norman.
  +
  +
''Peter....I understand after that footage you want to help them. But as MJ said before the question is was the good men they were ever there before.''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: We have to try. Toombs gave up hos for Liz. Brock was good still despite Venom's dark intentions. Maybe there's still a chance for them too.
  +
  +
''Alright. According to what MJ found at the lab Mayor Osborn is on his way to get the Antiserum''
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Good. Upload the address and let's end this madness once and for all.
  +
  +
''Wait Peter. There's one more thing. There was just a report of a helicopter being hijacked at the lab of the Tenth and Cathedral''
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Oh no.....that could be Norman's helicopter. If Li and Otto kill him they kill the cure too.
  +
  +
''Then you better hurry.''
  +
  +
  +
Later at the Tenth and Cathedral lab Demons took the pilot hostage as Mr. Negative approached him
  +
  +
Mr. Negative: ''''''Where's Osborn?'''''''
  +
  +
Pilot: The....the medical toom.....fifth flour with....Dr. Michaels.
  +
  +
Li nodded then nodded to his men and the Demons KILLED the poor pilot after he just cooperated and they walked to the roof door no doubt heading to the medical room
  +
  +
  +
Demons were even on the ground killing the guards even Sable men and Spidey arrived seeing them guarding the entrance even snipers
  +
  +
Peter took the snipers out stealthly first then the other Demons as well which took him three minutes no more time left to loose he went for the main doors till all of a sudden.....
  +
  +
.....his spider sense went on the haywire again and laser rays were shot at him as a warning
  +
  +
It wasSilver Sable and she was PISSED Spidey dodged her shots but she kicked him to the wall and pointed her guns at him
  +
  +
  +
Silver: You harass my men destroy my equipment and cost my client million! Give me ONE good reason why I shouldn't blow your head off right NOW!!
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Listen I get it. I don't like you for always blaming me like Jameson. You don't like me cause of the way I do things. But Li's got your client trapped in this building and he's gonna kill him and that's gonna cost this city a cure if we don't put aside our differences now. So....the way I see it we can fight each other or we can fight Li. But can't do both.....or Li wins.
  +
  +
It was silent for a moment
  +
  +
Spider-Man: I'm not speaking for Fury or as an Avenger I'm speaking for all the people who are dying now so you can shoot me give Li a chance to kill the city along with your client or you let me help you stop him and we both save the city. But it's on you what happens from here.
  +
  +
Sable was still in tempts to shoot him but realizing she had no room to argue from seeing his point she slowly lowered her guns both never left each others sights as Sable walked to the lock opening it with her own key card
  +
  +
Spider-Man: So....does this mean we're friends?
  +
  +
Silver: Not even close. But....I do owe Fury a dept. I haven't been able to pay it for so long.....maybe I can through you. Just help me secure Osborn. But after that I make no promises of cutting that bounty off your head.
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Works for me.
  +
  +
  +
They walk in looking at the mess Li caused in the building
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Dammit. Li's out of control. He needs professional help.
  +
  +
Silver: He maybe long gone for that He's gone too far.
  +
  +
  +
Suddenly Demons outside started shooting at them which caught them both off guard as they charged towards
  +
  +
Silver: You stop Li. I will take care of these lunatics.
  +
  +
Sable charged at them taking two Demons down and the doors shut
  +
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Nice to have new friends.
  +
  +
In the medical room Dr. Michaels was forced to give Li the Antiserum the only cure for Devil's Breath and many lives depended on it now
  +
  +
  +
Dr. Michaels: Please....this is the only sample. Without it half the city will die.
  +
  +
Mr. Negative: '''Not my problem.'''
  +
  +
Li knocked him out as the Demons held on to Norman and Li stared at him in the eyNes
  +
  +
  +
Norman: Martin....you don't have to do this I told you I'm sorry.
  +
  +
Mr. Negative: '''It's too late for sorry you bastard. MUCH too late. And tonight the city will see you for the monster you are as they will see you die. Get him back to the chopper!'''
  +
  +
They dragged Norman upstairs to the roof with Li behind them leaving Dr. Michaels knocked out behind they stored Norman back onboard the chopper and Peter soon came out as it took off
  +
  +
Spider-Man: Karen! Launch the logo on to the chopper and activate the tracking system. Hurry!
  +
  +
  +
The spider logo ejected from his costume and planted itself on the chopper as it flew off and Peter linked the tracker on his vision leading towards a construction site
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
''Midtown | Fisk Construction Site, 9:38 p.m''
  +
  +
  +
  +
  +
The half-built small twin tower construction site that was once intended to be another territory robbery from the Demons laid dormant and unorganized and messy, from the roof that bared a rectangular stain from the power box that was violently ripped away and became a wrecking ball weeks ago to the lack of organization in fallen pipes and beam supports and fallen chunks of debris on the lower levels. Cranes and girders remained untouched and same could be said for the bridges.
  +
  +
That mattered little to the civilians of New York, infected or otherwise, who happened to be catching an emergency broadcast on from The Bugle regarding what was occurring at said roof of the construction site. The sight of the city's 'beloved' Mayor Osborn both graced and stained the TV screens of people who were in just as worse positions as he was in, never mind the fact he was in just as worse as said poor civilians: defenseless, exhausted, bounded by with his hand behind his back and on the cusp of death. His face battered and bruised and blood all over his Tasso Ebla Banded color shirt, it was hard for the people in and outside to stomach.
  +
  +
  +
Even those who wanted Norman out of the Mayors office for good.
  +
  +
  +
Even Mr. Negative himself, having brought Norman here; he found it somewhat ironic that he was perched up at the very same construction site Spidey stopped his men from gaining control of no less than a few weeks ago.
  +
  +
The former head of F.E.A.S.T deemed it necessary to drag out the inevitable and make Norman's execution public which also meant dragging along two cameramen. He wanted to make sure everybody in this city was going to get ahold of this footage, so that they'd see Norman as the monster Li always knew he was.
  +
  +
  +
As promised, he'd end Norman's legacy tonight.
  +
  +
  +
The first cameraman, scared shitless, kept backing away from him the closer Li approached with each step echoing resounding doom approaching. Taking ahold of the tip of the camera, he charges his fist above his face with a calm but deadly storm seething underneath his normal aggressive and short-tempered mannerisms. Finally, he speaks out towards the civilians and New York.
  +
  +
  +
  +
''New York, we meet again. We are gathered here today to spare the life of our 'beloved' mayor anymore misery he has caused onto himself or those suffering in the system because of his misdeeds. Take a good long look at your 'hero' for the last time, New York. May he find the peace in death that he did not find in life.....''
  +
  +
  +
  +
A few seconds of solitary pass with Li just breathing mildly.....all of which end when the camera violently jerks about, his face showing in the lense once more as it fumbles through the cameraman's hands until the camera just drops beneath him and entering freefall. It stays locked on Li as he just stared into the lenses until the camera jerks once more and hangs on its wires by one of the scaffolding's, catching the actual cameraman falling to his death from over 40 stories up.
  +
  +
  +
All of which was captured and broadcasted all throughout NYC, to the shock and disgust of almost everyone watching inside or even those unfortunate enough to be outside. Luckily, he brought another cameraman to catch the rest of what he would do.
  +
  +
Another one in Li's way to achieving peace dead.
  +
  +
  +
Peace didn't matter much more than, let's say.......Vengeance.
  +
  +
  +
  +
It allows those who have been wronged to take back some of what has been lost to them. Unlike sacrifice, it gives back to the one who practices it. But sooner or later, everyone has to sit down to a banquet of consequences. Even the most respected and cherished of celebrities and individuals aren't immune to mental prosecution.
  +
  +
If only Mr. Negative actually felt such a thing piling up on his shoulders, his eyes twitching with disgust having to stare at Norman's face again and penetrate through his mask, uncover the evil that had harbored long inside of Osborn since that fateful day. Li was aware of the duality of his character, acknowledging that he has fallen "out of balance" in his quest for revenge. It's been like that for years, having admitted he waited for this day to come when Peter put Fisk away.
  +
  +
  +
But no more of it, no more of the guilt. It was time to show him what true evil looked like.
  +
  +
  +
  +
Norman: Martin, I—I assure you, I never wanted this to happen. I didn't know it would do this to you, I swear it! I just wanted to help you!
