Spider-Force is an American animated superhero television series broadcast on the cable network Disney XD, based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. In a break from Spider-Man tradition, the series follows an organized team of Spider-Men and Women as they multitask between their normal teenage lifestyles and protecting New York City from supervillain threats. The first season depicted four members: Peter Parker / Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy / Spider-Woman, Miles Morales / Spider-Punk, and Pavitr Prabhakar / Spider-India. Starting in the second season, they are joined by Cindy Moon / Silk. The series' first season premiered on August 7, 2021.

Premise[]

During a field trip at the end of their freshman year at Midtown Charter School, students Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, and Pavitr Prabhakar, along with eighth-grader Miles Morales, are given superpowers after being bitten by radioactive spiders. After mastering their powers, they decide to form a team of teenage superheroes who defend the streets of New York City, called the "Spider-Force", though they each struggle in various ways to balance their responsibilities with the problems of their personal lives. By the end of the first season, the spider that bit Peter also bites his classmate and childhood friend Cindy Moon, leading her to join the team as well.

Voice cast[]

Main[]

  • Peter Parker / Spider-Man (voiced by Vincent Martella) is the leader of the Spider-Force, the primary protagonist of the series, and a gifted sophomore at Midtown Charter. Despite lacking special abilities in his powers like Gwen and Miles, or a specific fighting style like Pavitr, he is the most kindhearted, courageous, and idealistic of the group, owing to his commitment to follow his late uncle Ben's philosophy: "With great power comes great responsibility." However, Peter is also the member embroiled in the most inner turmoil since he deals with the mounting pressures of leading the team, the many problems of his personal life, and his personal guilt over Ben's death. He initially has a secret crush on Gwen, but he develops feelings for Cindy as the series progresses. His image colors and red and blue.
  • Gwen Stacy / Spider-Woman (voiced by Dove Cameron) is the daughter of Police Commissioner George Stacy and the popular sophomore class president at Midtown Charter. Due to her charm and social media savviness, she is considered the public face of the Spider-Force. She is also the strongest of the group, being able to absorb heavy impacts with her body uninjured and lift objects that weigh many tons. Additionally, she has the special ability to emit a pheromone that renders enemies drowsy. As the daughter of the police commissioner, Gwen is dedicated to following the rules to a fault and often clashes with her teammates, especially Miles, over the legality of their actions. Ironically, she develops a romantic interest in Miles as the series progresses. Her image colors are white and pink.
  • Miles Morales / Spider-Punk / Spin (voiced by Issac Ryan Brown) is the youngest member of the Spider-Force and a freshman at Midtown Charter. He is the most agile of the group and has the special abilities of camouflage and bioelectricity. Unlike the others, Miles comes from a poor neighborhood, and despite being gifted, he was only able to enroll into Midtown Charter with the aid of a scholarship. As a result of his impoverished upbringing, he is bullied by many of his peers outside of the Spider-Force, and he is preferential towards helping poor and working-class neighborhoods over affluent and upper-class ones. His preferences lead to friction with Peter's ideals over helping everyone equally and Gwen's insistences to adhere to the law. Despite his constant arguments with Gwen, Miles eventually develops a romantic interest in her as the series progresses. Initially calling himself "Spin", Miles later appropriates "Spider-Punk", an insult levied at him by Jonah, as his nickname. His image colors are black and red.
  • Pavitr Prabhakar / Spider-India (voiced by Karan Soni) is a member of the Spider-Force and a sophomore exchange student at Midtown Charter, hailing from India. Like Peter, he lacks special abilities in his powers, but he employs the Indian martial art kalaripayattu and a pair of wooden sticks in his fighting style. Through the student exchange program, Pavitr stays with Peter and May as part of a homestay arrangement, and he becomes close to the both of them, with Peter and Pavitr sharing a brotherly bond. He is extremely fascinated by New York City and is proud to experience American culture, but he is also naive about his new environment, leading to running gags over culture shock and cultural differences. His image colors are green and orange, modeled after the colors of the Indian flag.
  • Cindy Moon / Silk (voiced by Alice Lee) is a new member of the Spider-Force, a sophomore at Midtown Charter, and Peter's childhood friend from Queens. Unlike the other members of the Spider-Force, she is naturally able to make webs instead of employing web-shooters, but overuse leads to her suffering from severe fatigue. She also employs various martial arts disciplines in her fighting style. Cindy and Peter have been friends since childhood due to her father Albert and his uncle Ben co-founding F.E.A.S.T. Unbeknownst to Peter, Cindy has had a secret crush on him for many years but is too embarrassed to tell him. In Season 1, she starts off not knowing the secret identities of anyone in the Spider-Force, but she figures it out midway into the season and becomes an ally. By the end of Season 1, she is bitten by the same spider that bit Peter; subsequently, she attains superpowers of her own at the beginning of Season 2 and eventually becomes inducted into the group midway into that season. Despite joining the rest of the Spider-Force in protecting New York City, Cindy's initial goal is to dismantle the Inner Demons gang to protect her family. She eventually grows to accept Peter's ideals in protecting the entire city.

Villains[]

  • Jackson Brice / Shocker I (voiced by John DiMaggio) is the sociopathic leader of a group of bank robbers called the Shock-and-Awe Robbers, and the main antagonist of Season 1. He and his group initially use military-grade weaponry for their robberies, but he goes on to wear an experimental battlesuit and shockwave-generating gauntlets provided to him by Vulture to carry out higher-risk heists. Shocker is responsible for killing Ben during a heist, thereby making it Peter's mission to capture him for the entirety of Season 1.
    • Herman Schultz / Shocker II (voiced by Phil LaMarr) is Brice's ruthless second-in-command in the Shock-and-Awe Robbers. He assumes the mantle of Shocker for the rest of the series following Brice's capture and hospitalization at the end of Season 1.
  • Adrian Toomes / Vulture (voiced by Terrence C. Carson) is the maternal uncle of Liz Allan, and a Stark Industries head engineer fired for embezzling funds from the company. In response, he steals a prototype Falcon suit and uses it in a revenge campaign against Stark Industries. After his escape from prison, he dons a more advanced wingsuit designed by the Tinkerer. Unlike other incarnations of the character, Vulture is African-American; additionally, like his MCU counterpart, he is biologically related to Spider-Man character Liz Allan.
  • Aleksei Sytsevich / Rhino (voiced by Gene Farber) is a Russia-born wrestler-turned-mobster who is constantly being taken advantage of by his superiors. In a desperate effort to prove himself, he willingly undergoes an experimental procedure that bonds him to an indestructible suit of rhino-themed armor.
  • Morris Bench / Hydro-Man (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke) is a demolitions expert who, after falling victim to a freak laboratory accident, gains the ability to transform part or all of his body into liquid. Driven mad and seeking a cure for his condition, Hydro-Man turns to a life of villainy.
