Sparky’s Amazing Tales is a 2017 animated short television series. This takes place during the events of Ryan and Dory’s Family.

These 4 episodes were released on January 26, 2018, while two episodes were shown before films in UK cinemas were Sparky Goes to Tokyo were attached to Ryan and Dory’s Family and Sparky in Spain was shown in screenings of Talia.

Cast[]

The cast reprise their roles from the upcoming film, including Cuba Gooding Jr as Sparky, Jamie Foxx as Nico and will.i.am as Pedro. Some actors were Mick Wingert voices Ryan since his voice actor Jack Black is working on the original film. Rafael and Eva had cameo appearance in the first episodes, but George Lopez only reprise his role in the second episode. Justin, Talia, Melquiades, Zeng, Crane, Viper, Soren and other characters also had their appearances,

Freddie Highmore did not reprise his role as Justin, who, he actually reprise his role in the second episode. Saoirse Ronan did not reprise her role as Talia due to her schedule on Lady Bird, yet Ronan reprise her role in later episodes. Lara, Blucher and Legantir are the only characters to appear in several episodes. New characters are made their debut in the show.

  • Sparky - A wisecracking zebra who is similar to Timon from The Lion King, Buck from Home on the Range and Marty from Madagascar.
  • Nico - a yellow canary
  • Pedro - A red cardinal.
  • Ryan Burke - a man who is Dory’s close friend and love interest.
  • Blu - a Spix macaw who is flightless until he can learn how to fly.

Trivia[]

  • Cuba Gooding Jr reprise his role as Sparky after he recorded his lines in the recording sessions in the original film.
  • Blu is the only character that didn’t appear in the first episode, but only make an appearance in the second episode.
  • The old man that was walking resembled Boggles from Ryan and Dory’s Family and Talia.
  • Miguel and Tulio did not appear in the short until the third episode.
  • In the app game of Ryan and Dory’s Family, Nico and Pedro were the two main stars along with Talia, which she has a supporting role in the original film.
  • Aaron Blaise was going to direct the short
  • Cuba Gooding Jr was hysterically laughing while recording his dialogue as Sparky.
  • At one point, in the episode Sparky Goes to The Movies, there is a reference to Django Unchained, both movies star Jamie Foxx.
  • Laurie Metcalf was cast in the episode following her performance of Toy Story.
  • This takes place between the events of the original film.
  • Hans Zimmer and John Powell were hired as composers to score the series.
