Plot[]

Part 1[]

A massive blizzard has dumped two feet of snow on the city of Denver and many of the FJU personnel, including Drake, Winder, Ruiz, Andrea, Pearce and Francis, find themselves stranded inside during the storm due to most of the roads being closed. Ryan is also at the station because of poor visibility and icy conditions. Drake speaks to Katherine, who is at home with Finn and Mary, over the phone, telling her the roads are very icy and he probably shouldn't drive back because of it. Katherine tells him not to worry, saying that they have plenty of firewood ready to burn in case the power goes out, and that they just had dinner and fed Cody. Drake warns her that there's a chance they might lose communications due to the blizzard, which she acknowledges. She puts the phone on speaker and allow Finn and Mary tell their father that they will be fine. Katherine tells her husband to stay safe, at which he tells her the same thing and to watch their children. They profess their love for each other before hanging up. As Pearce brings in some portable heaters in case of a power outage, Winder says that they have generators ready for if and when it happens. Pearce asks for the whereabouts of Wie, and Winder responds that she is dropping off her children at her parents and will be returning soon. Pearce says that her family is prepared also.

Wie drops off Joss, Abby, Ray and Wendi at her parent's house. Liam told her daughter that the storm is getting bad and recommends that she stay at their house also. Wie replies that she is needed at the FJU, but Judy expresses concern over her driving in the storm. Wie tells her mother that she has emergency survival gear in her car in case of anything happens. Judy and Joss tell her to stay safe as she leaves.

Back in the FJU, Winder got a call from Durand that the Mile High Slasher has struck again, but one victim managed to escape into the storm. He tells him to try to the bring the survivor to the FJU. After ending the call, Winder receives another call, one for a domestic violence complaint about a husband assaulting his wife. Pearce and Francis head to the DV scene while Drake, Ruiz and Andrea head for the Slasher scene. Andrea informs everyone that Holmes is staying with Kim since she has begun to show signs of going into labor. Then, Francis becomes shocked to see Wells arrived at the FJU HQ. He volunteer to help out but Drake and the others aren't sure. However, Wells convinces the FJU to give him a chance, revealing his personality. Drake allows Wells to help out in the investigation as Francis hide his annoyance.

At their residence, Holmes checks on Kim, who tells him that her contractions have been getting better. Laura is also present, watching over Franklin. Holmes receives a call from Winder, who informing him about the most recent attack of the Mile High Slasher. He tells his captain that he doesn't think he can help with the case this time around since Kim seems about to go into labor with their second child. Plus, with the blizzard going on, he probably won't be able to return to Kim if she does go into labor as Laura watches on. Winder acknowledges this but asks if he could at least check on the crime scene. Kim and Laura, overhearing that there was another victim by the Slasher, give him their approval. Holmes agrees that he will check out the crime scene, but opts return home to Kim right afterwards, since he is about eight blocks away.

Drake, Ruiz and Andrea arrive at the house of the crime scene, where Major Crimes Detectives Oakes and Garcia are present also. They find an elderly couple murdered in their bedroom, with the husband hanging from the ceiling fan, the wife tied to their bed raped and both of them with their throats slit and the words "SCAMMERS" carved in their chests. There are also apparently signs that a third person lived in the house, whom the detectives suspecting to be the couple's adult daughter, Cheryl Torrance (Laura James), who lived with them. She had been tied to her bed, but somehow escaped and headed out into the storm. The detectives find two types of footsteps in the snow, but also find signs of a fifth person having been in the house, causing them to realize that the Slasher had an accomplice. They also find blood in Cheryl's room. As Holmes makes his way to the crime scene, he spots a woman running half-naked in the snow. When he draws drove closer, she turns out to be Cheryl, frantic and exhausted, and yelling that there is a man after her. Holmes sees the masked man and gets her inside his car. He then draws his weapon, identifies himself as a police officer and yells at the man to get down. The man refuses to do so and he runs off. Knowing that he can't chase him with Cheryl in his car, Holmes decides to help her out; she reveals that the Slasher and one of his followers attacked her and her parents. Holmes drives her to the crime scene, calls dispatch for an ambulance to meet him there and gives the location of where the suspect was last scene. After arriving, Holmes instructs Cheryl to stay in the car as he rushes inside the house. Drake, Andrea, Wells, Oakes and Garcia are present while Ruiz checks out the scene inside the house. Holmes tells them that he found Cheryl and where he spotted the suspect chasing her. After Andrea packs a change of clothes for Cheryl, she and Drake bring her to a neighbor's house and question her there.

Cheryl tells them that she and her parents heard the doorbell ring and when her mother answered, two masked men forced their way in and attacked them. The masked accomplice tied her to her bed, while the Slasher forced her parents into their bedroom. She then heard her parents scream unlike ever before. When the Slasher came in with the branding iron, they were discussing about doing the same to her and how the Slasher killed his other victims. When they were distracted, Cheryl was able to to loosen the metal headboard, freeing her right hand and then freed her left hand by the time the accomplice spotted her. She hit the accomplice with the metal part of the loose headboard, pushing him and the Slasher back, and her free her legs. She then slashed the accomplice's left arm with the headboard, thus explaining the blood, then grabbed her jacket and ran outside into the storm. Drake asks Cheryl about what she remembers about the attackers, including body features or voices. She tells them the follower's voice sounded like a low Hispanic tone and that he had brown eyes. Andrea asks about the Slasher's voice and Cheryl replies was that he wore dark goggles, but his voice had a low accent and, judging by his tone when he spoke loudly, he sounded like in his 30s. Holmes informs Cheryl that she will need to be taken to the hospital to be examined, which she sadly acknowledges upset that her parents were murdered by the Slasher. The FJU detectives expresses their condolences to her.

Meanwhile, at a house on the other side area of Denver, Pearce and Francis arrived on the scene and saw a woman, Sarah Whitney (Haley Webb), being loaded into an ambulance. Her nine-year-old son David is next her, terrified. As Pearce enters the ambulance to question her, the paramedics told her that they have to drive to the hospital carefully because of the blizzard; Francis says that he'll follow behind them in the car. As the ambulance drives off, Pearce question Sarah; she tells him that her husband Randy has became abusive since he was laid off from his job three years before and he has been drinking a lot, which has changed his behavior. Randy has abused her since then, and recently, he has started in on David too. He was previously arrested for assault and battery while in a bar fight and, despite efforts from police and the D.A. Office, he got off on it due to a technicality. Pearce asks for the name of the A.D.A. who prosecuted him and Sarah gives her the name Howard Minor. Pearce acknowledges Sarah as the ambulance arrives at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Wie was driving slow back to the FJU station due to icy conditions. The news radio says that storm has knocked out power in some parts of Denver and other cities in Colorado. As she drives, another car skids all over the icy road. Wie is able to avoid a collision, but loses control of her car as it goes off road and crashes into a ditch. In the hospital, Francis bumps into his father as he and Pearce wait on an update about Sarah. Francis admits that he has been struggling to talk to Wells about his father, but Mark warns his son about the consequences if he puts off the conversation for too long. Drake, along the other FJU personnel and Major Crimes detectives, then arrive with Cheryl; Wells is also with them. As Andrea goes with Cheryl to a doctor, Pearce updates Drake, Oakes and Garcia about the situation with Sarah. Oakes said a detective friend of his investigated the bar fight that Randy was involved in; his friend said that Randy was highly intoxicated and almost killed the man he beat up. Drake decides to call Katherine to see what she knows about ADA Minor. Pearce asks about Holmes' whereabouts, and Ruiz says he's still at the crime scene to check a few more things out, and that he will return home to Kim afterwards.

At the D.A.'s office, the primary electricity has gone out in the building and Peake tells everyone in the office to wait for the police to come pick them up since the roads are icy. Nazario has Cohen and Quelling gather some emergency gear. Saxe informs everyone that the plows should come around to clear the roads soon. Nazario remarks that they've had blizzards around here before and that can be dangerous in the city. Cohen notes that several ADAs, including Katherine, haven't showed up due to the weather. Fellow ADAs Howard Minor and Armando Pineda say that they have some extra coats they can use if it gets really cold inside, which Peake acknowledges.

At the Sullivan house, Drake tells Katherine about Sarah Whitney and her case being handled by Minor, asking what she knows about the latter. Katherine reveals what she knows about Minor: he is a tough-as-nails ADA who usually works homicide and assault cases, but is also notoriously anti-social, and she feels that Minor isn't the right ADA to deal with family-related cases, because of his controversial courtroom tactics stemming from his anti-socialism. Drake acknowledges this and tells his wife to stay safe with their children.

Meanwhile, Wells notices Francis walking out of the hospital and follows him into a cold street. He tries to talk to Francis, but Francis furiously snaps at Wells, telling him to leave him alone. Wells confronts Francis for over his selfishness, but Francis defends himself and reveals that he knows about Robert Evans being Wells's father. As a shocked Wells tries to explain himself, Francis accuses their years-long friendship of being a lie and Wells of plotting with his father, reminding him of about Evans's crimes and Andrea's trauma. Wells tries to explain the whole story, but Francis furiously punches him and tells him to stay away from him. Wells, however, refuses to back down and shoves Francis against a nearby truck, revealing that he had never understood why his mother rarely let him around his father after the divorce and that he had joined the force to reconnect with him, but now he wants to redeem the Evans family name however he can. He adds that he has kept his link to his father's secret at first for not wanting special treatment, but now so that people won't look down upon him they way Francis is now. Wells points out that Francis doesn't know him as well as he thought before letting him go and leaving.

At the snow-covered ditch where Wie's car has crashed, she regains consciousness. Realizing she crashed her car in the snow, Wie tries to use her cell phone, but finds it was damaged in the wreck. She gathers her emergency pack and takes out out a blanket she had with her. At the Slasher crime scene, Holmes returns to his car and drives back to his house to check on Kim, Franklin and Laura. At the Holmes' house, Laura checks on Kim, who was resting on the chair. After a minute, Kim's contractions start and Laura sees that her water has broke; she calls 911 and reports that Kim is in labor. Meanwhile as Holmes continues driving, he nearly skids on ice, but is able to regain control, barely making it back home. As he exits the car, he hears Kim screaming and rushes inside. Learning from his mother that she is in labor, Holmes helps her with his wife's birth as the ambulance comes in.

At the Sullivan house, with the power already out, Katherine, Finn and Mary sit by the fireplace with Cody. Katherine assures her children that she's dealt with this type of storm before, which both Finn and Mary acknowledge, but state that the storm seems pretty bad. Katherine tells them that she's been through blizzards in New York City, upstate New York, and Denver and that this one is nothing the family can't handle.

At the D.A. Office, several ADAs and investigators are picked up by police to be taken home just as Peake receives the call from Winder about the situations with Cheryl surviving the Mile High Slasher and Sarah's husband Randy and how Minor handled the case involving Randy. Peake tells him to take Sarah to FJU and have his detectives stay with Cheryl in the hospital. Winder acknowledges just as he loses reception. Saxe tells Peake that he has also just lost reception on his phone, indicating that the storm has knocked out communications. After being filled in about the case involving Cheryl, Saxe says that he'll go to the hospital and Peake told him to take Cohen and Quelling with him. As Saxe heads out with Cohen and Quelling, Peake spots Minor and confronts him about his handling on Randy Whitney's assault case.

At the crash site, Wie tries to keep herself warm from the storm. Then she hears a plow come by. The driver stops and goes to Wie's wrecked car. As the plow operator, Javier Mendez (Cliff Curtis), knocks her window asking if she's okay and Wie nods, but says she needs a ride. Javier says that he should take her to a hospital. Wie tells him to take her to Denver Memorial Hospital since her brother works on that hospital and Javier acknowledged, stating that he's going to make a pit stop to check on his family at an apartment that is on route to the hospital.

Francis tracks Wells down in the hospital parking lot. Francis apologizes for his hostility, but Wells remains frosty to him. Francis asks Wells about his relationship with his father. Wells tells Francis that he was close with his father prior to the divorce, but did notice him spending a lot more time with Andrea than with him; he at first thought it was a father-daughter like relationship, but never imagined that they had been sleeping together. Wells admits that he never met Andrea in person but he did meet Andrea's parents twice. Wells then lost most contact with his father following the divorce until Wells moved back to Denver for college and reunited with him. He learned about Audrey during that time but he never knew their true sibling connection until after Evans was arrested. As Francis tries to comfort Wells, Wells reveals that Carter wasn't his planned name, it was James, the same name of Evans' father but when he was born, his parents choose a different name, Carter, named after Karen's uncle who has died days before he was born and kept James as a middle name. Then, Francis and Wells head back to the hospital but the two notice Randy parking outside of the hospital. Both quickly rush after him. Randy sees them and runs down the sidewalk to a building adjacent to the hospital. Francis and Wells enter after him, but lose him due to visibility, forcing them to track his footprints in the snow. They spot his prints entering a building and follow him inside. They see him, and he runs again ducking through the building's back exit. Francis and Wells follow him to the door and exited it, but lose sight of him again. They search in separate directions, but after finding no sign of him, reunite. Both of them become upset over losing Randy and head back to the hospital.

Back in the Holmes house, Holmes and Laura help Kim whose pains have gotten worse as she comes closer to giving birth. With help from dispatcher Annie Buchanan, who has dispatch an ambulance to the location, Holmes and Laura continue to try and make her comfortable. Holmes warns Buchanan that they might lose reception due to the storm. She gives him some quick instructions on handling childbirth, which he and Laura quickly write down. Back in the hospital, Francis informs Pearce about Randy, and she tells Sarah that she and David will go the FJU for their own safety. Drake says that he and the others will stay in the hospital with Laura as Durand, Chen, and Talfero arrived.

At the Sullivan house, Katherine sits on the couch in front of the fireplace with Finn, Mary and Cody. Then a car pulls up and stops in front of the house. It turns out to be Emily, holding her wounded left arm after having used her scarf as a tourniquet. She walks sluggishly in the deep snow and knocks on the door. With Cody barking, Katherine draws her handgun and tells her children to get to the basement. As Finn and Mary go with Cody, Katherine opens the door and finds Emily, with her left arm bleeding. Emily nearly collapses and Katherine catches her, while noticing her arm has been bitten. Finn and Mary then come over and see what's going on. As Finn locks the front door behind them, Katherine carefully takes Emily to the kitchen while Mary fetches towels and bottled water on her mother's instruction. Katherine then poured water on the bite marks. As they were patching her up, Emily informs them that a wolf attacked her; she was driving home from her law firm when she saw a wolf killing a man and then turn its attention to his two young children. She distracted it and the two children ran off as the wolf bit her in the arm. As she was left, she saw the wolf attack a cop before he could draw his pistol.

At the FJU, Ryan checks on Winder, asking if he knows something about Drake. Winder told him that he is with the surviving victim of the Slasher, which Ryan acknowledged. Winder also told him that there is a battered woman and her son coming to the FJU. Ryan says that he'll consult them with his legal expertise. Meanwhile, Drake and Andrea check on Cheryl who was laying on the hospital bed, looking sad and in a trance. Then, Francis and Wells arrive and tells Drake and Andrea about Randy. As Drake heads off, Andrea questions Wells about a cut on his lip, but Wells quickly lies and tells her that he slipped on the snow and fell. Francis warns Wells that it will backfire if the truth comes out, but Wells says that his father wanted him to keep an eye on Andrea and Audrey. Francis furiously reminds Wells of his father's crimes, but Wells responds that he's not doing it for his father, but for himself. Pearce approaches and asks Francis what's going on; he only replies that Wells is dealing with his own personal problems. Pearce tells him that Sarah and David are ready to leave as Saxe, Cohen and Quelling arrive. As Drake returns, Saxe asks about the Whitney family and Pearce fills him in about them and the recent Slasher case. Drake tells Saxe that his father is at the FJU and he'll consult, with them as he recommends Saxe for help on Cheryl's situation.

At the end, Javier drives Wie to her destination via his snow plow, Winder and Ryan wait in the FJU as Spier arrives, Pearce, Francis, and Wells escort Sarah and David to the FJU HQ. Katherine continues to care for Emily with Finn and Mary help. Then she looks out the window and sees a wolf at the snow covered street; Emily sees it as well and reveals that its the same wolf who attacked her, leading Katherine to realize the danger they are potentially in. At the hospital, Drake, along with Andrea, Durand and his MCS detectives, watch over Cheryl as Saxe, Cohen and Quelling stood by. Outside of the hospital, a security guard looks outside at the back of the hospital. As he looked, he sees a man found stabbed to death laying against the hospital wall. Before he can report it, a masked man dressed in a white jacket slashes his throat with a large kitchen knife, killing him, before entering the hospital...

Part 2[]

As the snowfall continues to hit Denver, communications are knocked out and power goes out in most of the city. Although the winds start dying down, the snow continued to fall. As Javier drives Wie to the hospital, he makes a pit stop to check on his family at an apartment building. At the hospital, Drake and Andrea speak with Cheryl who is distraught that she couldn't do anything to save her parents and noting that she's probably the first person to escape from the Mile High Slasher. She also states that he had a follower with him. Drake then confirms that she is the first victim to escape from the Slasher. Cheryl asks Drake if he has family and he confirms he does. Cheryl tells him that her parents were all she had and there is no one else in her life. Andrea assures her that they will find a way to help her get through this. Durand, Chen and Saxe then enter, and the captain tells Cheryl that they and the other detectives will protect her until the storm passed on and only authorized personnel will be allowed in her hospital room, with Saxe adding that he has informed the hospital's administrators about this. As Drake leaves the room, Quelling asks about Katherine; he tells him that she is at home with their children since she didn't want them to be alone in the storm.

At the Sullivan house, Katherine has Finn and Mary to the master bedroom with Cody for their own safety while taking the injured Emily with her upstairs. As Katherine went to get a double-barreled shotgun in the gun safe in their closet, Mary sees the wolf prowling around the house. She wonders what it's up to; Finn replies that wolves are very wild and territorial, but they don't normally attack people and that wolf attacks are rare since they live far away from humans and fear hunters and ranchers. Emily notes the wolf who attacked her has no fear humans and is very aggressive, and states the father didn't even do anything to the wolf when it killed him, and it didn't even backed off the cop it mauled when he drew his pistol. Katherine realizes that the wolf is likely rabid and has a taste of human blood. With that, Finn suddenly realizes the wolf is smelling Emily's blood in the air and knows she's in the house, leading them to realize the wolf won't leave the premise until it kills her. Katherine says that they may have to find a way to kill it quickly and get Emily to the hospital as soon as possible for rabies treatment.

At Holmes' house, Holmes and Laura help Kim get comfortable as the labor pain gets worse. Remembering Buchanan's instructions, they help Kim with the childbirth. After some difficulty and much pushing, the Holmes' second child is born and it is revealed to be a baby girl. Much to their relief, the baby is heard crying just as the ambulance arrives on the scene. Holmes and Kim name her Tyger Zora Holmes. The paramedics decide to take her and Kim to Denver Memorial Hospital. Laura gets Franklin as she and Holmes follow the ambulance to the hospital, despite icy conditions.

Meanwhile, Wells searches the hospital's empty cafeteria for Randy, but sees nothing. As a moody Wells says "happy birthday" to himself with a home-made cake, a unknown person comes up behind Wells from the shadows. He sees the shadow behind him and turns around to see Randy, who violently attacks Wells but Wells quickly overpowers him. The two struggle for Wells' gun, setting off two shots in the process. Hearing the gunshots, Andrea rushes downstairs and quickly gets involved in the struggle between Wells and Randy. Randy runs upstairs but Andrea tases him from behind, causing Randy to fall down the stairs. Andrea gives Wells an orders as she gets her handcuffs, but Randy quickly draws his own gun and opens fire, causing Andrea to jump out of the way. Wells runs into the front room where he tells Drake and the others about Randy. As Durand and his MCS detectives rush upstairs, Drake tells Wells to go with Pearce and Francis to the FJU HQ as they get ready to take Sarah and her son David to the station. Durand and his detectives arrive upstairs, but Andrea tells them that she lost Randy. Unknown to the detectives, Randy has quietly gotten outside via a nearby window.

As the man who killed the two men outside the hospital enters the locker room, he changes into scrubs to blend into the hospital. At the apartment complex, Wie sees Javier with his wife and two children at the first floor. After returning to the plow, her drives out to finish taking Wie to the hospital. As he drives, Javier reveals that he remembers who she is now, saying that her brother-in-law Jason Russo used to be his accountant until his arrest. Wie retorts that Jason had been severely abusing her sister Lisa and he beat her up so bad the last time that, as a result of it and the stress of her giving birth to her youngest child, she died from it. Javier expresses his condolences to her, stating that he used to be in the Army until he got wounded in action and was discharged as a result.

At the FJU HQ, Winder, Ryan and Spier wait around for Pearce and Francis to arrive. After a moment, the two and Wells enter the squadroom with the Whitneys. Winder is confused to see Wells as well before Pearce and Francis explains his involvement. Sarah tells everyone that she hopes that Randy doesn't come to the station since he once came to another when she reported him and was kicked out after being given an ultimatum on facing harassment charges. Pearce assures her that the FJU's station is one of the more secured stations in the department. Ryan approached and asks about how ADA Minor handled the assault case against Randy. Sarah states that Minor was very tough against Randy in court, but wasn't exactly a people person. He asks who the judge who handled the case was, and she answers that it was Judge Ben Donahue, which Ryan knows as not exactly DA friendly.

At the Sullivan house, Katherine sees the wolf still prowling around the premises. She tells her children to go to the garage with Cody and Emily while she finds a way to draw the wolf away from them. Mary worriedly expresses fear that the wolf might kill her mother, but Katherine assures her daughter that she will be alright. Finn tells her to be careful and Katherine tells her son to make sure Mary and the others don't leave the garage. As the others hide, Katherine takes her shotgun and prepares to set a plan to draw the wolf out in motion. Just then, the electrical power is restored in the house. Elsewhere, power in the FJU station comes back online as well. Back in the Sullivan house, Katherine goes to the back door and throws a rock out back to get the wolf to the backyard. The wolf hears the sound and rushes to the backyard. It sees and snarls at Katherine, who aims at it. As the wolf starts to approach her, a neighbor, Walter Rath, comes out, wondering what was going on and the rabid animal turns its attention towards him. Katherine yells at him to get away and that the wolf is rabid. As the wolf charges after Rath, he grabs a large fallen tree branch just as the wolf jumps on him. As Rath uses the branch to hold its mouth away, Katherine rushes over and fires the shotgun at the animal, mortally wounding it and knocking it off Rath. She then fires a second round into the wolf's head, killing it. Rath gets up and reveals that he wasn't bitten, but was scratched by the wolf's paws. He tells Katherine to use his house phone to call for help since there's no cell phone reception due to the storm. As Rath's wife comes outside wondering what was going, he tells her that a wolf attacked him. Katherine tells him to call 911 about him and Emily's injuries and needing rabies treatment ASAP as she returned to her house. She makes it back to the garage, where Finn and Mary are relieved to see her. Katherine informs Emily that she killed the wolf and that help is on the way.

At Denver Memorial Hospital, Drake is scoping out the emergency room with Chen when they see Holmes and Laura arriving with Kim on the gurney with newborn baby Tyger. Holmes informs them that Kim went into labor a few hours ago. As Kim and Tyger are being checked by doctors, Drake congratulates Holmes for the birth of his second child. As that happened, a Hispanic man in scrubs watched from the distance. Holmes asks about Cheryl and Drake reveals that she's in a hospital room resting for the moment, with two officers guarding the room with only authorized personnel allowed to enter. Glad to hear this, Holmes goes to be with his family.

Meanwhile, still en route to the hospital, Javier continues to plow the road with Wie in his passenger seat. He tells her they're almost at the hospital now. Wie acknowledges and apologizes to him for her remarks over him remembering her as Jason's former sister-in-law. He asks about her life with her sister's kids and she replies that it's been tough for them and the rest of her family since Lisa's death, but she loves them as much as she loves her own daughter. At the FJU HQ, Francis approaches Wells after seeing him snap at vending machine. Wells expresses his anger over almost getting killed by Randy, but accidentally reveals it's his birthday. He share his disappointment of celebrating his birthday on his own as he admits that he and his mother barely speak anymore and learning the truth about his father has disillusioned him from celebrating. Francis apologizes to Wells for forgetting his birthday and promised that they will celebrate it together after the snowstorm ends. As Wells silently agrees and took the snack, Spier came over. Wells introduces himself to her, and Francis tells him that he and Spier have been seeing each other. Wells congratulates them and Spier tells Francis that Winder is worried about Wie's whereabouts since she was supposed to be here. Francis told her that he hasn't seen her yet. Pearce overhears them and told them that she was dropping her family off to her parents and would return to the station, but it has been a while since they were last in touch. Wells suggests that they should track her cell phone on the computer and Francis agrees.

In the break room, Ryan and Bennett counsel Sarah and David on how to move forward from Randy. Sarah suspects Ryan is related to Drake and he confirms that Drake is his son and his son's family lives with him. Bennett tells her that she can no longer stay with Randy, especially since he has started to abuse David as well, and that they to can go to a house that specializes in families fleeing domestic violence situations. Sarah agrees. Ruiz then entered the HQ, and Winder asks if he has seen or spoken to Wie; Ruiz tells him he hasn't. Francis and Spier approach and inform Winder that Wie's phone is disconnected and her car's GPS was last pinged in a ditch off-road. Wells says he knows that area and snow can really cover it. After a moment, Winder has Francis and Wells go search for Wie, while Ruiz, Pearce and Spier stay at the FJU to safeguard the Whitneys.

As Javier and Wie near the hospital, Wie spots a vehicle wrecked and perched on the bridge above I-25. Javier radioes his people to warn them about the accident, while Wie gets out of the truck and checks the car, seeing that a father and son trapped inside. At the hospital, Drake speaks with Cohen, Quelling and Durand regarding the security in the hospital. Cohen says that they have every entrance and exit covered. Suddenly, Andrea and Garcia rush over, explaining two bodies have been found outside the hospital, one a hospital security guard. Suspecting the Slasher's follower might already be in the hospital, Durand alerts security while Drake, Quelling and Garcia rush to Cheryl. Just then, Cohen sees Katherine arriving with Finn, Mary and the injured Emily, while another ambulance pulls up with Rath inside. She rushes over to them and asks what happened just as Saxe sees Katherine and her children. Katherine informs Cohen and Saxe about their encounter with the rabid wolf, how it killed people, including a cop, without fear and how it attacked Emily when she was protecting children from it. As Durand notices Katherine and her family, Saxe tells her that there was a reported wolf attack west of Golden four hours prior and that a couple shoveling snow was killed. Katherine expresses shock and asks what's going on. Durand informs her about Cheryl and they believe the Slasher's follower is in the hospital now. She tells Cohen to watch Finn and Mary.

Back at the car wreck, Wie instructs the father and son not to move or try to get out of the car, as it could fall. Then an unmarked cop car pulls up and Francis and Wells get out, surprised to see Wie there. Javier has a idea to hold the car until rescue workers get there: he gets a chain out of the vehicle, and he and Francis attach one end to the plow, while Wie and Wells attach the other end to the backof the car. Javier then slowly drives the plow backwards, stabilizing the car to prevent it from falling. After a few minutes, the fire trucks and ambulance arrive. As the fire crews assess the area, they use their trucks to further stabilize the wrecked car and carefully extract the family. As that was happening, Francis asks Wie what had happened to her and tells her that he and Wells found her car. Wie explains that she lost control of her vehicle trying to avoid an out-of-control car and Javier found her. As the family is rescued, Wie instructs Francis and Wells to return to the FJU while Javier continues to drive her to the hospital.

Back in the hospital, the Hispanic man in scrubs approaches Cheryl's hospital room, pushing a cart. Two officers posted at her hospital refuse him entry without ID. As he feigns acceptance, the follower suddenly slashed one officer with a scalpel and quickly stabs the other before he can draw his gun. Afterwards, he quietly enters the hospital room and moves the curtain, only to sees that Cheryl isn't there. As he looks at the hospital corridor, he see Cheryl leaving the woman's restroom. She sees the murdered officers, and then the man who attacked her along with the Mile High Slasher. She screams loudly and runs to an empty room and locks the door. At the time, Drake, Quelling and Garcia, are heading upstairs while Andrea, Oakes and Chen are in the stairway at another side of the hospital. He confronts Randy at the front door, believe that Randy is going to apologize for attacking him, but Randy tells Wells that he wants his son. Ruiz overhears the conversation, and quickly alerts others about Randy's arrival. Wells tries to tell Randy that his son isn't here, but Randy refuses to believe him and threatens Wells with a shotgun. Wells asks him if he is really willing to shoot a cop to get his family; Randy angrily says he will if that's what it takes to get Sarah and David back and that he will kill anyone he has to to keep his family in line. As Winder, Ruiz, Pearce, Spier and other officers get into positions, Francis hid behind a corner as Wells walks towards him while confronting him. Backing up, Randy angrily tells Wells to stay back or he will shoot. Francis throws a snowball in Randy's face, disorienting him. Wells then grabs the shotgun, aiming it into the air, as one round went off. Winder, Ruiz and Spier rush to assist, with Winder taking the shotgun off Randy. Pearce takes the weapon as Ruiz and Spier secure and cuff Randy. Ryan and Sarah went downstairs and see him being taken into custody. Sarah just looks on as Ryan approaches. Randy curses at Sarah for leaving him and getting him arrested, but both Francis and Ryan tell him to shut up. Ryan then coldly tells Randy that his daughter-in-law Katherine is one of the best prosecutors there is and she will tear him apart at court before warning him to take a plea deal or risk getting an even longer sentence. As Randy is led away while cursing at Sarah, she refuses to acknowledge him and walks back upstairs. Francis furiously confronts Wells for putting himself in danger, but Wells defends himself, explaining that he learned the hard way about making tough calls when he become a cop.

At the hospital, Wie is getting checked over by doctors and Nolan. Nolan tells her that the family she and Javier found are gonna be fine. He adds that he remembers Javier was once a media sensation as a search-and-rescue member who saved two kids from a frozen river in the mountains, citing that remembers that because a friend of his worked alongside him. Nolan also reveals that his friend told him that Javier served in the Army until he was wounded in action, and now works as a snow plow driver to help his wife, who has Parkinson's. Wie, surprised by the information about Javier, tells her brother that Jason was Javier's accountant before his arrest, which mildly shocks Nolan. Elsewhere, Katherine fills Drake in about Emily and their encounter with the wolf, at which he is glad that Katherine made it out against the vicious wolf. Just then, Holmes comes out with Kim, who was in a wheelchair holding on to Tyger, at which Katherine and Andrea congratulate both of them. Afterwards, Durand informs Drake and Katherine that they may have to enroll Cheryl into Witness Protection because she survived the Mile High Slasher and he and his followers might go after her again, which they agree with.

By the following morning, the storm has died down. C.J. has identified the deceased follower as Jose Piñol, a former Air Force recruit until he was dishonorably discharged after being deemed too radical among other reasons. Outside the station, Ruiz and Winder share details with Drake about Randy's arrest, but Drake is shocked upon learning how Wells bravely confronted an armed Randy. Katherine and Peake approach and inform the FJU personnel that Randy has taken a plea deal, and Sarah is filing for divorce and moving out of state with David to live with other family. Ryan appears outside the station with Finn and Mary with him as Drake expresses happiness for Sarah and David. Katherine asks for news of Emily; Ryan tells her that Emily is getting a series of rabies shots but has a good prognosis, and Rath wasn't bitten or scratched by the wolf at all. As Katherine hopes for the best for her friend, Winder reminds her in the old days, women wouldn't have shown such resilience against such odds like she did. Drake says that it's all because of his training and that he's proud of her, at which Katherine acknowledges her husband. Holmes arrives and shows the pictures of Tyger to Winder and the other FJU personnel. Pearce, pleased to see that, reveals personal details about her own family: she has two sons from a prior relationship and a step-daughter from her current one with her wife, and the two have three children together. Part 1[]

  • Carter Wells (to Kyle Francis): My father was obsessed with a young girl over his own son. He chase lots of women when he was still married to my mother but then he find somebody younger than those women. I know that she was 18 and he was in 30s when it all started. I mean, she was older to be his daughter, not his lover. Luckily, I didn't met my father's girlfriend at the time but I did meet her parents twice, one at my birthday party and other time when I saw them having dinner with my parents.
