Sister Act 3: Breaking the Habit is a 2018 musical comedy film directed by and starring Whoopi Goldberg, reprising her role as Deloris Van Cartier from the previous two films. It revolves around a hugely successful Deloris returning the the convent shortly after it is robbed in order to restore it to it's former glory and help raise funds to do so. It co-stars Maggie Smith, Kathy Najimy and Wendy Makkena, among others.
Hot off a world tour of her latest album, world renowned singer and actress Deloris Van Cartier (Whoopi Goldberg) is met with two outstanding film opportunities which her money grabbing agent is encouraging to take, but Deloris' attention floats elsewhere when she gets wind of a robbery that has occurred in the convent she resided in over 25 years ago. She abandons the projects, to her agent's horror, and decides to use her name and her fortune to help restore the convent to the glory of when she lived there, could this be an opportunity for Deloris to also evaluate herself and her life choices? When she decides to reunite the infamous choir of sisters from decades earlier, Deloris may come to realise fame isn't all it's cracked up to be, but her agent makes a plan to exploit her for all she's worth, so can her sisters save her from ruin?

Production, Release and Reception
Sister Act 3 was confirmed by Walt Disney Studios in May 2017, with production due to start that summer. Soon, Whoopi Goldberg was announced to direct, produce and star in the sequel, alongside returning cast members Maggie Smith, Kathy Najimy and Wendy Makkena. All living choir nuns were also confirmed to return. When filming commenced in late June 2017, further casting was confirmed, with singer Jennifer Hudson joining the cast alongside comedian Rosie O'Donnell. Later that month, Elizabeth Banks, Chris O'Dowd and Tracee Ellis Ross were confirmed to appear in supporting roles. Whoopi Goldberg revealed on her twitter account in July that Jeffrey Tambor would be playing the movie's villain role. When principal photography ended in late August, the cast celebrated by announcing Oprah Winfrey's cameo in the film. The first trailer was released on Christmas Eve 2017, confirming a summer release date, pitting it against fellow musical sequel Mamma Mia 2.
Sister Act 3: Breaking the Habit was released on July 22nd 2018 to generally favourable reviews. It was the second highest grossing film that week and opened domestically with $30,000,000. The review website Rotten Tomatoes scored the film an average of 76% based on 25 reviews, indicating 'generally favourable and positive reviews'.
A fourth film, diverting the focus to Jennifer Hudson's character, is reportedly in development at Disney.
