Shanweiniao modernii (name meaning "fan-tailed bird of modern times") is a species of long-snouted enantiornithean birds that originally lived in the Early Cretaceous in what is now China, and was once extinct, but Shanweiniao modernii has since been brought back from extinction by SciiFii and now lives in Cretaceous Park located in Sacramento, California. Shanweiniao modernii is the only known enantiornithean bird with a tail surface capable of generating lift, as in native modern birds. Shanweiniao modernii is among the only known primitive Mesozoic bird with a fan-shaped tail feather morphology. It has a lifestyle similar to native modern kingfishers, hunting over freshwater rivers and lakes to catch small fish.
