History

The Beginning (1996)

In September 1996 at the LeapFrog HQ, a group of technology helpers came over and discussed with the CEO about the plan to make the first ever phone with a screen.

They accepted the plan and began to help the group out with naming the phone line-up since that there were going to sell the phones all around United Leaps and the United States

Naming the Phone (1997 - 1998)

From the years 1997 to 1998, the company, along with the group wanted to name the phone of what it should be called. They came up with a couple of names, but the final name they had to use was Shacoo.

Prototype names:

  1. Leaphone
  2. LeapPhone
  3. LPhone
  4. Putel
  5. Shasee

Final name: Shacoo

Their final name for the phone was Shacoo as the other names weren't "fitted properly", so they had to stick with it.

Phone concepts (1998 - 2001)

A year later after coming up with the name, they started to think about some prototypes, such as the phone with both the screen and a keyboard, a few with the keyboard below the screen and some other designs that included the QWERTY keyboard.

During the years 2000 and 2001, they traveled all around the United States to show people if the prototypes were good enough to be the final concepts. Most of them preferred no and even some said yes, but the opposite answer of yes won, so then they scrapped the prototypes and then went on to the final step before releasing Shacoo.

Final Steps (2002 - 2006)

Shacoo's hiatus (2002 - 2004)

Between years 2002 and 2004, Shacoo Mobile's development went on a complete hiatus until further notice since that the phones weren't ready yet for even more concepts. During the hiatus, they instead focused on making the logo for the phones. The group was required by Leap Inc. for everyone to design the logo and for the company to choose which one should be the official logo.

In 2004, the hiatus was almost over and the logo was finalized for designing later on.

Designing the logo (2005 - 2006)

In December 2004, the hiatus ceased and they resumed development on the Shacoo phones. During the years 2005 and January 2006, they began designing the logo and a few months later, the logo design was finished.

On January 10, 2006, both the company and the group finalized everything. They made the first logo for the phone line-up and scrapped the prototype variant, then created the first Shacoo phone which was called Shacoo 1, which released to the public on August 13, 2006.
