Russian pyramid modes are the part of the upcoming major update for ShootersPool billiards simulation video game. These games are played on a 12ft billiard table (distinct from snooker table) with tight pockets as well as large 68mm balls (1 red/yellow cue ball and 15 white numbered balls).
Rules[]
Generally speaking, these games are notably harder even with seemingly-easy rules due to high accuracy needed for potting even a single ball due to tight pockets relative to big balls. Usually, the player can pocket any balls (including the cue ball in some games so long as they hit other ball(s) first) and the objective is to score 8 points (1 point earned after potting any balls).
Here's the available game types within the upcoming Russian billiards portion of ShootersPool:
- Free pyramid
- Any ball (including the cue ball) can be used as a cue ball after a break. However, when an assigned cue ball is potted without colliding with others first, it is a foul and are re-spotted in the baulk line.
- Dynamic pyramid
- The colored/unnumbered ball is the only cue ball players can use. Like free pyramid, the player can pocket the cue ball so long as it hits other ball(s) first but unlike free pyramid, once the cue ball is legally potted, the player must choose an object ball to be eliminated off the table and the player has ball-in-hand (can place anywhere) and however, it is a foul to scratch twice in the row even with other balls being hit first.
- Combined pyramid
- This plays like dynamic pyramid, but ball-in-hand after potting the cue ball is restricted to kitchen and the player after potting the cue ball can only pot balls in side and rightmost top and bottom pockets until the next shot.
- Classic pyramid
- The objective is to score 71 points (with total of 130 points). The player gains score on every time the balls is pocketed legally, which depends on the number on the ball (corresponds to the number but number 1 worth 11 points instead and when no other object balls are present on this table, 10 points regardless of the number).
