Rex of The Revenge is a 2023 American made-for-television science fiction horror film. The film was written and directed by Kentucker Audley, who also served as a producer alongside Lulu Alden. It stars Harold Cheshire, Barry Benson, Kate Lyn Sheil, Heather Dorff, Daryl Sabara, and features prominent horror actors Tony Todd, Felissa Rose, and Danny Trejo.
The film is an American remake of the 2011 Indian monster horror film Mare Reks. It premiered on the Syfy channel on August 23, 2023.
Plot[]
In their adventure to an uncharted island, a group of explorers discovers Sylvia, a young woman who has survived amidst revived, mutated dinosaurs. As they delve deeper into the island's prehistoric landscape, they encounter terrifying creatures beyond their wildest imaginations.
Synopsis[]
A team of explorers, led by Jordan Hathaway and funded by the enigmatic Dr. Thunder, embarks on an expedition to an uncharted island in the Pacific. During the opening sequence, their guide, Linda, is violently killed by unseen creatures, establishing the island's immense danger. The surviving team members—including biologist Alicia, tech expert Alex, and adventurers Chuck, Vicki, and Vanessa—press on. Deep in the jungle, they discover Sylvia, a young woman who has managed to survive alone on the island.
Sylvia warns them of the island's inhabitants: dinosaurs that have been genetically mutated into hyper-aggressive predators. The group's attempt to reach their extraction point is thwarted by a series of attacks. Vanessa is snatched and carried away by a flock of Pteranodons. While seeking shelter in a cave system, the team is confronted by a massive, armored Triceratops which gores and kills Dr. Thunder. Shortly after, the group's security officer, Johnson, is cornered and eaten alive by a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The survivors later discover the T-Rex's nest and find Vicki's cannibalized remains.
As they navigate the jungle, they are hunted by a pack of intelligent and vicious raptors. Chuck is ambushed and violently killed. The remaining survivors—Jordan, Timmy, Sylvia, Alicia, and Alex—discover a hidden, high-tech laboratory inside the island's volcano. Inside, they find evidence of genetic experimentation. They are soon cornered by the giant T-Rex. In a desperate act of bravery, Alex attempts to use an explosive device to kill the beast but is stomped to death before he can succeed. Alicia is then dragged away and eaten by the raptors.
Timmy tries to create a diversion to allow Jordan and Sylvia to escape, but he is caught and killed by the T-Rex. Jordan and Sylvia are cornered by Officer Kendrick, the team's pilot, who reveals he was secretly working with Dr. Thunder. He confesses their plan was to use the island as a testing ground, turning dinosaurs into bio-weapons to study the limits of human fear. As Kendrick prepares to inject Sylvia with a new mutagen, Jordan shoots him five times, killing him for his betrayal. The ensuing firefight damages the lab's core, triggering a self-destruct sequence. The mutated dinosaurs are destroyed as the entire facility explodes.
Jordan and Sylvia manage to escape the island on a boat just as the volcano erupts. On the open water, a relieved Jordan professes his feelings for Sylvia and kisses her. She rejects him, tearfully stating that she "can't." As Jordan looks at her in confusion, he notices her skin beginning to exhibit strange patterns and her eyes changing. He realizes in terror that she has already been altered and is transforming into a human-dinosaur hybrid. The film ends with Jordan screaming as the screen cuts to black.

Production[]
The film was produced by S.B.M Productions with Kentucker Audley and Lulu Alden serving as producers. Audley also wrote the screenplay and directed the film. Principal photography took place in Miami, Florida, and the surrounding areas to simulate the tropical island setting. The score was composed by Italian horror veteran Fabio Frizzi.

Rex of The Revenge was distributed by LittleLulu Picture Entertainment and premiered on the Syfy network on August 23, 2023. The film was marketed with the tagline, "The true horror lies in nature’s fury."
