The film is the second ever to involve a Corey Haim character possessing an abusive stepfather as he did in his first feature film debut of 1984 Firstborn.

Minnie Driver also went on later to star on another film involving child sexual abuse Sleepers in 1996 though her character in the following film did not have character sexually abused like in this motion picture.

Plot

A Single mother of three takes up with what appears to be the perfect family man businessman named Harvelle B. Clarke.

A wedding follows and the settling into his nice large lighthouse home in beautiful Beaufort, South Carolina.

What appears to be the perfect American family life changes within an instant as the seemingly perfect Harvelle B. Clarke unleashes his true side.

All kinds of abuse falls upon the wife and her children and things escalate beyond control.

A P.I comes into the picture and so does the kids' actual biological father as well as the ex husband to the mother.
