Religion, mythology and ancient legends play a major role in all Qirsyllvian societies. Faith in a deities, whether just one or several, and other beliefs, goes back to the dawn of Qirsyllvian civilizations.
Religions and their associated mythologies are often formed around a certain common myth or legend, which are usually centered around one or more legendary figures. This in mind, religions are either polytheistic, worshiping multiple deities, or monotheistic, worshiping only one deity.
Individual religious devotion in all societies is, of course, on a spectrum, from devout adherents to those that just go through some of the motions by rote as a cultural norm. Moreover, some people are irreligious and privately don't believe in any gods or religious systems.
On the other hand, some are so devout to their faith to the point of pure fanaticism. Such zealousness is often preached against, as it can lead to adherents to taking their religious doctrines too far when they interpret them in the most extreme ways.
Tolerance toward other religions is also on a spectrum, which can range from open acceptance to blatant intolerance. Some will openly accept, even appreciate, another faith (sometimes causing the lines between the faiths to blur and merge, leading to the creation of a syncretic faith), while others will view another religion with prejudice and hatred and view its existence and practices as heresy.
Religious extremism combined with prejudiced intolerance toward other faiths almost always leads to conflict, even war in the most extreme cases.

When the First Kingdom came to be following the Wars of Misaphris the Great, each deity was pulled together into a set that became the full pantheon. The first High Priest of the Pantheon was Imhotep, who later became the pharaoh known to history as Imhotep the Pious. He was later deified as a member of the pantheon as a healer god.

Swyll'zhor & Ny'kith

Swyll'zhor, also known as the Sun Lord, is a solar deity. Followers of this faith believe that he watches over all during the day as he flies across the sky. Ny'kith is the lunar deity.
Worship of the pair allegedly goes back to when the peninsula was Salrin-dominated, and perhaps predates even the Gargate Empire. Many religiophilosiphers believe that the two were originally Salrin deities, but most Salrin religious authorities and experts repudiate this.
Whatever their origin, they were adopted by the Soleilian Kingdom as their god and goddess as they expanded, supplanting Septifidelity almost entirely.

Other Religions, Legends & Mythologies
Minor Religions & Mythologies

Most are simply not worshiped outside a confined region, usually where they were founded, or are just not extent enough to be counted amongst the major religions of the world.
The Ocean God
The Ocean God, popularly known as "Aequor," is a sea deity popular with seamen of all races. Followers believe that he creates all the natural phenomena that occurs at sea, storms, waves, maelstroms, etc. either to help them get to where they need to be, or to divert them because they're not meant to reach their destination.
Temple of Pleasure
The Temple of Pleasure is a minor sect that worships a sex and fertility goddess called Syrilumei, who is often depicted as a nude, voluptuous, lascivious, and buxom woman. Followers of this faith consider sex to be a holy and life-affirming act that honors their goddess.
Pagan in origin, the Temple was originally founded in pre-colonial northern Nekcroz by a culture known to history as the Niicrukala people, but has since spread to most parts of the world. Regardless, the religion remains partially obscure, but it is a popular religion amongst prostitutes, and is therefore often introduced via brothels. It is not uncommon for such occupants to convert.
This religion is popular with succubi and incubi as well. Consequently, to those who don't know better, it is believed that Syrilumei is a deified succubus, but practitioners of the faith staunchly claim and believe otherwise.
The Sky God and the Ocean Goddess
The Sky God and the Ocean Goddess, better known by their proper names Leduo and Aymii respectively, are a pair a lover deities worshiped solely in the Republic of Gargantia.
The myth claims that Leduo descended from the heavens after losing a fight to a superior and evil god (who is known by many names, but the popular one is Krugier), and Aymii nursed him back to health. Leduo eventually fell in love with Aymii and swore to protect her from any danger. Aymii fell in love with Leduo in return and worried that he will never return when he left to defeat the evil god for good, but Leduo prevailed and returned to Aymii's side.
Every year, festivals are held to commemorate the loving reunion of Leduo and Aymii.
It is believed that Leduo and Aymii left several children in the mortal world, and several people claim descent from them, but these claims are difficult to prove.
Followers of the faith believe that Leduo was a human while Aymii was a mermaid.
The Western Pantheon
The Western Pantheon is a pantheon of deities worshiped in western Eurodysia, primarily by the peoples of the Latium and Akhaian Peninsulas and the island Dell'ovest, predating even the Zedylrian Empire by at least a millennium. It was the dominant faith in these regions before being supplanted by Septifidelity but it is now a minority.

Other Myths & Legends
Library of Trinity
The Library of Trinity is an ancient legendary library said to hold thousands of books containing every detail of Qirsyllviar's history and many other subjects besides. Common legends say that the library predates the first abjaksan by at least two thousand years. No one knows where the library resides or even if it still exists—or if it even existed at all. The library supposedly takes its name from the three groups responsible for it: the Keepers, the Seekers, and the Guardians.
Legend says that time passes differently within the library; for every hour spent in the building, seven days go by in the real world.
Administering the Library of Trinity are the Knowledge Keepers, an immortal man and woman – whose names are recorded in history as Markus & Calypso – charged with tending the library.
Adding to the library's collection is the Knowledge Seekers, whose job is to go out into the world and find some worthwhile knowledge to store in the library. Rumors and legends says that the seekers are recruited, but no one knows from where.
Guarding the library against unwelcome intruders is the Knowledge Guardians. Legends say that visitors can only enter with the permission of the Keepers or they would be turned to stone by the Guardians. Visitors allowed into the library are watched over by the Guardians to make sure they don't steal anything or desecrate the library in any way.

It is universal belief that the Spirit World is made up of two or layers, and heaven and hell represent some of them. Almost all religious faiths speak of heaven and hell in some measure, and all believe that whichever one moves on to upon death is subject to a judgement by some higher power, particularly a specific god that represents the afterlife.

Underworld & Hell
While also a physical place beneath the surface of Qirsyllviar, the spiritual concepts of the underworld and hell are often used interchangeably, and are sometimes confusingly believed to be one and the same, but it is most commonly believed that the underworld and hell are two layers of the same plane away from the world of the living, with hell considered lower than the underworld.
The Underworld, sometimes known as Limbo, is the realm of the dead, where the dead reside before judgement. Hell is the realm of the damned, where those who have committed grave sins in their life spend the rest of eternity. Some cultures describe Hell as a blazing inferno of fire and lava, while other sources describe it as a frigid frozen wasteland.
Those who have committed a grave sin in their life are usually condemned to eternity in Hell, the believed lower part of the underworld, or to simply remain in the underworld forever.
Some cultures and faiths have no concept of the underworld, only hell, and so refer to the underworld as limbo, or the ghostly plane, the netherworld, or the astral plane, where they await judgement before being sent on. Other cultures and faiths have no concept of hell, only the underworld, and so believe that the damned walk in the underworld for eternity, unable to move on to the afterlife.

Dark Religion
Dark religion is a form of religion where followers worship some dark deity or several. They are often looked down upon by most people, particularly if they are followers of a holy religion. The dark cults around Qirsyllviar are often subject to isolation despite their many followers.
Cult of Akuma
The Cult of Akuma is a Genjin demonic cult that worships various demons of Genjin culture as the supreme beings instead of the kamigami.
Church of Chaos
The Church of Chaos, sometimes known as the Dark Church, the Chaos Order, or the Dark Order, is the hidden church that worships the Gods of Chaos.
Under the command of the Great Lord of Chaos, a title that is both religious and militaristic, the Church's primary figure of worship is Voldrazar, the Dark Lord of Chaos who was defeated by the abjaksan, but the church also pays homage to two other chaos deities who were Voldazar's "hands," Maldrazell and Syle'rikinia.
Maldrazell: |
According to popular myth, Maldrazell was the right-hand-man of the Dark Lord Voldrazar. He is depicted as a black-robed skeleton with bones made of dark crystal. A cult dedicated to him once tyrannically ruled the City of Maldrazik, now called the City of Rondar, before the Order of Rondar took it from them. |

Syle'rikina: |
According to popular myth, Syle'rikina was the left-hand-woman of Voldrazar. She is depicted as a demonic succubus who could suck out the souls of anyone she fed off of, something a normal succubus simply can't do. |
The CoC also pays homage to chaos deities from other faiths and pantheons as part of a "Pantheon of Chaos."
The CoC is underground and hidden from public eye, most not even knowing of its existence, save for their mortal enemies, the Order of Eden. But, unlike other dark religions, the followers of the Dark Church are a bit more active through it's armed branch, the Army of Chaos. The purpose of this church is purely conquest, pandemonium, and the genocide of all things "mortal", with their leaders seeking to plunge all of Qirsyllviar into chaos, and most seeking the eventual resurrection of the Dark Lord Voldrazar.
The Church and the Army together operate under the "Rule of Three." While there may be thousands of men and women in service to the church or the army, there can only be three leading lords at any given time: the Great Lord of Chaos, and his/her two subordinates, the "Left Hand of Chaos" and the "Right Hand of Chaos." The Great Lord is marked by a gold Chaos symbol necklace, while the Left and Right Hands are marked by a chaos necklace that also bears the respective hand.
Cult of Morgan & Mordred
Anti-Septifidelic Religions
These religions together are the polar opposite of Septifidelity. They seek to bring about darkness and supplant Septifidelity altogether.
Church of Satan
The Church of Satan is the primary dark church that worships the Devil High King of Purgatory, Satan. The Church of Satan was once the rulers of the Empire of Darkania, before it was defeated by the early worshipers of Septifidelity.
The Church of Satan has no official headquarters and is underground, but that has not stopped it from gaining numerous followers of all races over the centuries.
The church's primary practices include living sacrifices to Satan, and the race doesn't matter.
Cult of the Sins
The Cult of the Sins is a dark religion that worships seven demons that equate to the seven mortal sins. The cult was founded within generations of the founding of Septifidelity, and has been a source of ire for the church ever since.
Followers believe that embracing of sin is the ultimate liberation, free from the rules that constitute society.
Extinct Religions
Extinct religions are religious beliefs that are no longer practiced, but not necessarily forgotten.
List of extinct religions
- Gallic Pantheon: The polytheistic Gallic Pantheon was the gods worshiped by the Gallic Peoples before the introduction of Septifidelity.
- Great Eagle: The Great Eagle was a deity worshiped by the Nekrc'zii culture before being combined with the Jadeites.
- Hesperian Pantheon: the polytheistic gods worshiped by the Hesperian peoples before the introduction of Septifidelity.
- Salroka: The god worshiped by the Salrin people before the introduction of Septifidelity.
- Zedylrian Pantheon: The polytheistic pantheon worshiped by the ancient Zedylri of the Zedylrian Empire, and, for a time, the successor states. The pantheon soon phased out of use as it was replaced by other religions, most notably Septifidelity. The Solramese who created the calendar used parts of names of several members of the pantheon as names of the months of the year. Aside for that one remaining mark, very few people remember what the names of the many deities were.
