Religion, mythology and ancient legends play a major role in all Qirsyllvian societies. Faith in a deities, whether just one or several, and other beliefs, goes back to the dawn of Qirsyllvian civilizations.
Religions and their associated mythologies are often formed around a certain common myth or legend, which are usually centered around one or more legendary figures. This in mind, religions are either polytheistic, worshiping multiple deities, or monotheistic, worshiping only one deity.
Individual religious devotion in all societies is, of course, on a spectrum, from devout adherents to those that just go through some of the motions by rote as a cultural norm. Moreover, some people are irreligious and privately don't believe in any gods or religious systems.
On the other hand, some are so devout to their faith to the point of pure fanaticism. Such zealousness is often preached against, as it can lead to adherents to taking their religious doctrines too far when they interpret them in the most extreme ways.
Tolerance toward other religions is also on a spectrum, which can range from open acceptance to blatant intolerance. Some will openly accept, even appreciate, another faith (sometimes causing the lines between the faiths to blur and merge, leading to the creation of a syncretic faith), while others will view another religion with prejudice and hatred and view its existence and practices as heresy.
Religious extremism combined with prejudiced intolerance toward other faiths almost always leads to conflict, even war in the most extreme cases.
Major Religions & Mythologies
Din
Din, or Dinism or the Din Faith as it's sometimes called outside Dhahabi, is the collective term for the traditional ancestral polytheistic Ashkhas Faiths & Mythologies. Followers are called Dini.

The Althaluth of Magic
The Althaluth of Magic is a trio of magic deities worshiped the Ashkhas. They are also worshiped in Seljuk and as far away from the mainland as Awal, and to a lesser extant on the Island of Nubia.
According to popular myth, the Althaluth of Magic were a trio of pre-Caliphate magical masters that invented the techniques of Ashkhas Magic, using three essences now known as the Ashkhas Elements, Sand, Fire, and Glass.
Deified upon their death, the Althaluth are now believed to be the source of Ashkhas magic and the embodiment of certain virtues.

Arthur Richard Lionheart | Honor & Chivalry | Often simply known as King Arthur, was Camelot's first king. The son of a legendary lord of Brythonic-Gallic decent, Uther Ambrosius, Arthur was a legendary warrior, and alleged demigod, who founded Camelot amongst the destructive Warring States Period of High Albion on the Island of High Albion. Deified upon his death. |
Merlin Ambrosius | Magic & Learning | A legendary magician of Brythonic-Gallic decent, was the Grand Sorcerer of Camelot in life. A magical master, and the brother of Uther Ambrosius, and thus the uncle of King Arthur, he aided Arthur in the founding of Camelot and the battle against dark entities and invaders that threatened his kingdom afterwards. He also founded of the Mystic Order, a society of magic dedicated to preserving harmony between the Magic and Mortal Realms. Deified upon his death. |
Lady of the Lake | Nature & Beauty | Also known by the name Viviane, is the guardian spirit of the Great Lake of Camelot. She is also the protector of the forests and Camelot itself. Legends say that Viviane was the mother of Arthur Richard Lionheart. |
This faith is almost exclusively worshiped in the Kingdom of Camelot, but there is some minor worship just beyond the borders.
Dwarven Pantheon
The polytheistic religion of the Dwarves. Unlike most pantheons, the figures of the Dwarven Pantheon were actual legendary historical figures that were posthumously deified for the deeds they did. However, even with supposedly reliable historical records, whether or not they actually existed or did these deeds are hard to prove.
Ancestory Deity | Representation | Historicity & Other notes: |
---|---|---|
Akarak | God of Mining and Stoneworking | Historically, he was a dwarven miner-turned-architect who constructed a vast city, known to history as Fralgronik, within a vast cavern. The location of the city has been lost to history, though most adventurers retain hope of finding it. |
Calrik | God of Warriors | Historically, he was a dwarven general-turned-emperor and genius military commander in the ancient Dwarven empire of Ral'saric. He led a revolt that overthrew a tyrannical dwarven dynasty, and founded a new one with himself as emperor. Both before and after his ascension, he led armies, expanded the borders of Ral'saric, and remained undefeated to the end of his days. |
Hargrac | God of Ale, Beer & Beermaking | Historically, he was the creator of the recipe of modern Dwarven Beer and Ale, which many peoples all over Qirsyllviar continue to enjoy. |
Grazgrim | God of Death and Ruler of the Underworld | Historically, he was a dwarven general that accomplished many victories in the name of his king. However, he eventually developed a fetish for killing so strong that he went rogue and on a killing spree; everywhere he went, bloodshed followed. He was eventually slain and his head left on a pike. As punishment, he was condemned to hell, where he eventually became its ruler, deified as the god of death. |
Kazrakor | The God of Smithing | The divine patron of all dwarven smiths. Historically, he was a master blacksmith that forged the Sword of Karkadraz, the personal blade of Karkadraz, history's first known dwarven king. |
Valkyra | Goddess of Healing | Historically, she was a dwarven nurse who invented many healing technigues that continue to be used today. She was also charitable and helped anyone in need no matter what it cost her. |
Elven Religion & Mythology
The collective polytheistic Elven faiths.

Elven Pantheon
Tyrion & Luctiana
Tyrion and Luctiana are the central figures of Elven religion & mythology. They were, according to popular myth, the first elven emperor and empress in recorded history. According to elven mythology, they were the first rulers of the legendary/mythical Empire of Konjyrnia, first founding the empire after uniting their separate kingdoms through marriage.
They are also deified in the Taogerites of the Elven Pantheon as the "Lawgiver" and the "Maiden" respectively.
Main Pantheon
The Elven Pantheon is divided into two branches: the Taogerites (the Heavenly Gods & Goddesses) and the Lofykearites (Gods & Goddesses of the Surface and Underworld). Due to the division between the two branches, there is often religious strife amongst the elves, with the three classes of elves often choosing to give priority to one branch or the other. The High Elves tend to favor the Taogerites, with some acknowledgement of the Lofykearites and major emphasis on Tyrion and Luctiana. The Dark Elves on the other hand fully favor the Lofykearites, some to the point of considering the Taogerites deities heresy. The Wood elves on the other hand worship both branches equally, embracing both the light and the dark to feel at home in nature.

The Enneamagi
The Enneamagi were a group of nine of renowned sorcerers and sorceresses of various cultures across Qirsyllviar. These nine mages were powerful magic-users that came together roughly two thousand years before modern time, and founded a nation of magic known to history as the Sorcerer's Republic of Rioclyier, in the region the Confederation of Czi'kolgyar now resides. At the same time, they founded the Rioclyier Academy of Magic. Several decades after their deaths, the Rioclyier Republic fell apart due to what history remembers as the Great War of Magic, but the academy remains. Deified upon their deaths, the faith has become the dominant religion of Czi'kolgyar, and is popular with other magic users everywhere.
Each of the Enneamagi represents a different specialty of magic.

The Founders
Miglohal and Tuligahal, oftentimes known together as The Founders, are twin gods worshiped in the City of El Dorado. According to mythology, the two were the mortal founders of El Dorado. Both were deified upon their death. Mythology also claims that the ruling family of El Dorado is descended from Tuligahal and a mortal woman known to history as Chelgasi.
Grandmother
Grandmother is the goddess worshiped by the Nekcr'zii Amazons. Grandmother is the divine protectress of the islands on which they live, and is believed to be the ancestress of their people.
Isten
Isten is the god worshiped by the Magyars. Led by a Szentatya (equivalent to the Pope of the Synkratic Church, a denomination of Septifidelity, or the Zodyje of the Vampiric Pantheon), with other religions titles, from highest to lowest, being Apát, Érsek Főesperes, lelkész, Szerzetes, and Apáca (a feminine title).
The Jadeites
The Jadeites are a trio of jade animal deities, the eagle, the jaguar, and the snake, worshiped in the Aztec, Mayan and Olmec cultures of Nekcroz. The trio is also worshiped to a minor extent in northern Xotil. Sometimes known by their proper names, Skyl'karc (the eagle), Duk'urn (the jaguar), and Bo'topl (the snake), the eagle represents the sky, and jaguar represents the land, and the snake represents the sea. Worshipers believe them to be the protectors of all Nekcr'zii peoples, and the givers of life.
Often personified in totems made of jade with the eagle on top, the jaguar in the middle, and the snake on the bottom jade idols of the three deities decorate temples and homes of all who worship it. Some even wear jade totem pendants of them.
Kanukco
Kanukco, also called the Sky Lord, is a sky deity worshiped mostly by the Pterytiko of the Sky Cities.
Kemeti Pantheon
The Kemeti Pantheon is the polytheistic group of deities worshiped in Kemet, and to a lesser extant in the Persian-occupied part of Nubia.
Most of the deities were originally local gods worshiped in independent communities before the first unified Kemeti Kingdom, though most were believed to have some connection to one another. When the First Kingdom came to be following the Wars of Misaphris the Great, each deity was pulled together into a set that became the full pantheon. The first High Priest of the Pantheon was Imhotep, who later became the pharaoh known to history as Imhotep the Pious. He was later deified as a member of the pantheon as a healer god.
All members of the Pantheon have their own dedicated temples and shrines, and several of them, scattered across Nubia, but the pantheon is governed as a whole from the Grand Temple in Zerzura.

Tuzhu Zodiac
The Tuzhu Zodiac is the worship of twelve animals in a sequence. This faith is an element of Tuzhu culture and is observed where it is dominant, including Huaxia, Zhonghua, and related countries.
This branch of Tuzhu religion is governed from the main temple known as the Grand Temple of the Zodiac, but each animal has a separate main temple from which all smaller temples to the same animal are governed. Many Temples for each animal exist all across Marlakcor, and a few have sprung up in Long Qundao in Maritymir. This part of Tuzhu faith is worshiped to a minor extent in Joseon, and the Hayato of Fuso and Yamatai's possessions in Marlakcor, also follow the Zodiac to some degree.
Followers believe that the members of the Zodiac take turns overseeing the cosmos in the name of the Jade Huangdi each year in a 12-year cycle, and thus each year is named for that particular animal: the months of the Luan Calendar are named for each animal as well.

They are believed to be daughters of Zen'nō-sha, all born to different mortal mothers that were believed to be Zen'nō-sha's concubines/lovers, and are thus all half-sisters to each other. Similarly to the Archangels of Septifidelity, each of the princesses represent a certain virtue and/or aspect of nature. They are led by Akegata-hime, the eldest of them.

Followers of this faith believe these dragons are the source of a soshihito's ability to manipulate the elements. He was deified both for this feat and resolving a massive war that happened during his time. Shinigami
The Shimigami are spirits that act as guides for souls to Shigo-no-sekai, the Hayato term for the afterlife. They either escort souls to paradise in Takamagahara, or drag them to eternal torment in Yomi-no-kuni. There are countless shimigami, and only twenty of them are known by name. Hayato believe that those destined for Takamagahara see the Shinigami as beautiful ethereal beings – similarly to angels – while those destined for Yomi-no-kuni see them as ugly skull-faced demons.
Known Demons
Along with the holy kamigami, the Hayato acknowledge several demons. Like the demons in the Septifidelic faith, each demon represents a negative aspect.

It is primarily practiced in Ingodija, and is the main religion of the continent, but minor sects exist in Aquilonis and has been rising to great prominence in parts of Marlakcor in recent centuries. Shivajism has also been spreading to Maritymir through Majapahit.

Swyll'zhor & Ny'kith
Swyll'zhor & Ny'kith are a pair of deities worshiped as the sole god and goddess in Soleil, as well as by some Gallic immigrants in Fuso.
Swyll'zhor, also known as the Sun Lord, is a solar deity. Followers of this faith believe that he watches over all during the day as he flies across the sky. Ny'kith is the lunar deity. Followers of this faith believe that she is the mother of the moons, Tallulah and Xyliana, equating her to Gaia in Spetifidelity and Balho of the vampiric pantheon.
Worship of the pair allegedly goes back to when the peninsula was Salrin-dominated, and perhaps predates even the Gargate Empire. Many religiophilosiphers believe that the two were originally Salrin deities, but most Salrin religious authorities and experts repudiate this.
Whatever their origin, they were adopted by the Soleilian Kingdom as their god and goddess as they expanded, supplanting Septifidelity almost entirely.
Talmyrism
Talmyrism is the collective term for the whole of the polytheistic Talmyri faiths and mythology.

The Trynis | |||
---|---|---|---|
The Trynis, the primary deities central to Talmyri faith and mythology, are a trio of sibling deities whom are the creators of the known world. They are led by Gnogton, the King of the Gods. Their consorts are included, and are considered counterparts of the main three as well as separate deities. | |||
Deity | Representation | Consort | |
Name | Representation | ||
Gnogton | God of the Land & King of the Gods | Valji | Goddess of Law & Order |
Gnogton is oldest of the Trynis and the creator of the land of the known world. Popular myth says that he sculpted the land from mud and clay and hardened it with fire. | Once the world and Haljno's living beings had reached a prime stage of maturity, Valji gave the world Law & Order. | ||
Marijano | Goddess of Rain & the Sea | Haljno | God of Life |
The middle sibling of the Trynis and the creator of the sea. Once Gnogton created the land and Scyterius stabilized the sky, Marijano made rain fall, flooding the deepest valleys and creating the seas. |
Haljno gave life the world once the Trynis had stabilized it, allowing living things to evolve and flourish. | ||
Scyterius | God of the Sun & Sky | Jukli | Goddess of Wisdom & Learning |
Scyterius is the youngest of the Trynis and creator of the skies.
Once Gnogton created the land, Scyterius stabilized the sky and coated the world in a "shield" to stop the "fire stars" from reaching the surface, and created the bright circle to give the world light. |
Jukli gave wisdom and Intelligence to Haljno's living things once they evolved to sapience.
Jukli is also the patron deity of scholars. | ||

Talmyri Zodiac
The Talmyri Zodiac are twenty-five animal deities worshiped by the Talmyri people, primarily in Talmyrnia and to a lesser extent in northern New Albion and parts of Drakyncia. These deities are believed to be the divine protectors of Talmyrnia.
This portion of Talmyri faith is governed as a whole from the Grand Temple of the Zodiac in Orskaydd, the capital of Talmyrnia, but each deity of the Zodiac also has a separate main temple, from which all smaller temples scattered around the country are governed, though some deities are more prevalent than others in different parts of the country.
Much like the Tuzhu Zodiac, followers of the Talmyri Zodiac believe that each animal takes turns accompanying the gods across the cosmos over the course of a cycle of years (a 25-year cycle in this case), and thus each year is named for that particular animal, just like the Tuzhu Zodiac. But unlike its Marlakcese counterpart, each animal has a proper name, and the Tuzhu Zodiac has less animals.
In addition to ruling the cosmos one year at a time, each animal deity represents a certain personality aspect that shapes a person, either positively or negatively.

The Zodiac is held in such high regard that even some of the many noble houses of Talmyrnia take their sigils after the animals of the Zodiac in one form or another.
Additionally, one major practice among adherents is that, on a person's twelfth birthday they are presented with an idol of the animal deity in whose year they were born. It is believed that the Zodiac member guides that person throughout their life.
Vampiric Pantheon
The Vampiric Pantheon is a polytheistic religion led by the Zodyje (a vampiric religious title equivalent to the Pope of the Synkratic Church), which has many temples to the Vampiric Gods around Transylvania, and territories of the former Amurgine Empire. There are also many more smaller temples around Qirsyllviar frequented by local vampires.
The scriptures are written in a religious text known as the Cartea Zeilor. Within the Cartea Zeilor are physical descriptions of the gods, as well as the proper ways to worship them.
While vampires don't normally see eye-to-eye with most religions, most notably the Synkratic Church, this is their form of worship. This religion is governed in Valahiei, Transylvania, but is practiced world-wide by most vampires, and most humans who live in Transylvania.

Other Religions, Legends & Mythologies
Minor Religions & Mythologies
Some religions and churches are little known despite many followers, are just recently founded cults, or have few followers outside their place of origin. Most are simply not worshiped outside a confined region, usually where they were founded, or are just not extent enough to be counted amongst the major religions of the world.
The Ocean God
The Ocean God, popularly known as "Aequor," is a sea deity popular with seamen of all races. Followers believe that he creates all the natural phenomena that occurs at sea, storms, waves, maelstroms, etc. either to help them get to where they need to be, or to divert them because they're not meant to reach their destination.
Temple of Pleasure
The Temple of Pleasure is a minor sect that worships a sex and fertility goddess called Syrilumei, who is often depicted as a nude, voluptuous, lascivious, and buxom woman. Followers of this faith consider sex to be a holy and life-affirming act that honors their goddess.
Pagan in origin, the Temple was originally founded in pre-colonial northern Nekcroz by a culture known to history as the Niicrukala people, but has since spread to most parts of the world. Regardless, the religion remains partially obscure, but it is a popular religion amongst prostitutes, and is therefore often introduced via brothels. It is not uncommon for such occupants to convert.
This religion is popular with succubi and incubi as well. Consequently, to those who don't know better, it is believed that Syrilumei is a deified succubus, but practitioners of the faith staunchly claim and believe otherwise.
The Sky God and the Ocean Goddess
The Sky God and the Ocean Goddess, better known by their proper names Leduo and Aymii respectively, are a pair a lover deities worshiped solely in the Republic of Gargantia.
The myth claims that Leduo descended from the heavens after losing a fight to a superior and evil god (who is known by many names, but the popular one is Krugier), and Aymii nursed him back to health. Leduo eventually fell in love with Aymii and swore to protect her from any danger. Aymii fell in love with Leduo in return and worried that he will never return when he left to defeat the evil god for good, but Leduo prevailed and returned to Aymii's side.
Every year, festivals are held to commemorate the loving reunion of Leduo and Aymii.
It is believed that Leduo and Aymii left several children in the mortal world, and several people claim descent from them, but these claims are difficult to prove.
Followers of the faith believe that Leduo was a human while Aymii was a mermaid.
The Western Pantheon
The Western Pantheon is a pantheon of deities worshiped in western Eurodysia, primarily by the peoples of the Latium and Akhaian Peninsulas and the island Dell'ovest, predating even the Zedylrian Empire by at least a millennium. It was the dominant faith in these regions before being supplanted by Septifidelity but it is now a minority.

Other Myths & Legends
Library of Trinity
The Library of Trinity is an ancient legendary library said to hold thousands of books containing every detail of Qirsyllviar's history and many other subjects besides. Legends say that the library predates the first lunaculi by at least two thousand years. No one knows where the library resides or even if it still exists—or if it existed at all. The library supposedly takes it's name from the three groups responsible for it: the Keepers, the Seekers, and the Guardians.
Legend says that time passes differently within the library; for every hour spent in the building, seven days go by in the real world.
Administering the Library of Trinity are the Knowledge Keepers, an immortal man and woman – whose names are recorded in history as Markus & Calypso – charged with tending the library.
Adding to the library's collection is the Knowledge Seekers, whose job is to go out into the world and find some worthwhile knowledge to store in the library.
Guarding the library against unwelcome intruders is the Knowledge Guardians. Legends say that visitors can only enter with the permission of the Keepers or they would be turned to stone by the Guardians. Visitors allowed into the library are watched over by the Guardians to make sure they don't steal anything or desecrate the library in any way.

Heaven, the Underworld & Hell
The concepts of Heaven and Hell, the afterlife and damnation, are common beliefs across the world. It is universal belief that the Spirit World is made up of two or layers, and heaven and hell represent some of them. Almost all religious faiths speak of heaven and hell in some measure, and all believe that whichever one moves on to upon death is subject to a judgement by some higher power, particularly a specific god that represents the afterlife.
Heaven
Heaven, the realm of the afterlife, is where people supposedly go when they have a good life.

Underworld & Hell
While also a physical place beneath the surface of Qirsyllviar, the spiritual concepts of the underworld and hell are often used interchangeably, and are sometimes confusingly believed to be one and the same, but it is most commonly believed that the underworld and hell are two layers of the same plane away from the world of the living, with hell considered lower than the underworld.
The Underworld, sometimes known as Limbo, is the realm of the dead, where the dead reside before judgement. Hell is the realm of the damned, where those who have committed grave sins in their life spend the rest of eternity. Some cultures describe Hell as a blazing inferno of fire and lava, while other sources describe it as a frigid frozen wasteland.
Those who have committed a grave sin in their life are usually condemned to eternity in Hell, the believed lower part of the underworld, or to simply remain in the underworld forever.
Some cultures and faiths have no concept of the underworld, only hell, and so refer to the underworld as limbo, or the ghostly plane, the netherworld, or the astral plane, where they await judgement before being sent on. Other cultures and faiths have no concept of hell, only the underworld, and so believe that the damned walk in the underworld for eternity, unable to move on to the afterlife.

Dark Religion
Dark religion is a form of religion where followers worship some dark deity or several. They are often looked down upon by most people, particularly if they are followers of a holy religion. The dark cults around Qirsyllviar are often subject to isolation despite their many followers.
Cult of Akuma
The Cult of Akuma is a Hayato demonic cult that worships various demons of Hayato culture as the supreme beings instead of the kamigami.
Church of Chaos
The Church of Chaos, sometimes known as the Dark Church, the Chaos Order, or the Dark Order, is the hidden church that worships the Gods of Chaos.
Under the command of the Great Lord of Chaos, a title that is both religious and militaristic, the Church's primary figure of worship is Voldrazar, the Dark Lord of Chaos who was defeated by the lunaculi, but the church also pays homage to two other chaos deities who were Voldazar's "hands," Maldrazell and Syle'rikinia.
Maldrazell: |
According to popular myth, Maldrazell was the right-hand-man of the Dark Lord Voldrazar. He is depicted as a black-robed skeleton with bones made of dark crystal. A cult dedicated to him once tyrannically ruled the City of Maldrazik, now called the City of Rondar, before the Order of Rondar took it from them. |
---|---|
Syle'rikina: |
According to popular myth, Syle'rikina was the left-hand-woman of Voldrazar. She is depicted as a demonic succubus who could suck out the souls of anyone she fed off of, something a normal succubus simply can't do. |
The CoC also pays homage to chaos deities from other faiths and pantheons as part of a "Pantheon of Chaos."
The CoC is underground and hidden from public eye, most not even knowing of its existence, save for their mortal enemies, the Order of Eden. But, unlike other dark religions, the followers of the Dark Church are a bit more active through it's armed branch, the Army of Chaos. The purpose of this church is purely conquest, pandemonium, and the genocide of all things "mortal", with their leaders seeking to plunge all of Qirsyllviar into chaos, and most seeking the eventual resurrection of the Dark Lord Voldrazar.
The Church and the Army together operate under the "Rule of Three." While there may be thousands of men and women in service to the church or the army, there can only be three leading lords at any given time: the Great Lord of Chaos, and his/her two subordinates, the "Left Hand of Chaos" and the "Right Hand of Chaos." The Great Lord is marked by a gold Chaos symbol necklace, while the Left and Right Hands are marked by a chaos necklace that also bears the respective hand.

Anti-Septifidelic Religions
These religions together are the polar opposite of Septifidelity. They seek to bring about darkness and supplant Septifidelity altogether.
Church of Satan
The Church of Satan is the primary dark church that worships the Devil High King of Purgatory, Satan. The Church of Satan was once the rulers of the Empire of Darkania, before it was defeated by the early worshipers of Septifidelity.
The Church of Satan has no official headquarters and is underground, but that has not stopped it from gaining numerous followers of all races over the centuries.
The church's primary practices include living sacrifices to Satan, and the race doesn't matter.
Cult of the Sins
The Cult of the Sins is a dark religion that worships seven demons that equate to the seven mortal sins. The cult was founded within generations of the founding of Septifidelity, and has been a source of ire for the church ever since.
Followers believe that embracing of sin is the ultimate liberation, free from the rules that constitute society.
Extinct Religions
Extinct religions are religious beliefs that are no longer practiced, but not necessarily forgotten.
List of extinct religions

- Zedylrian Pantheon: The polytheistic pantheon worshiped by the ancient Zedylri of the Zedylrian Empire, and, for a time, the successor states. The pantheon soon phased out of use as it was replaced by other religions, most notably Septifidelity. The Solramese who created the calendar used parts of names of several members of the pantheon as names of the months of the year. Aside for that one remaining mark, very few people remember what the names of the many deities were.
