Genjin Holidays & Festivals

Tenno Tanjobi

Tenno Tanjobi (天皇誕生日/Tenno's Birthday) is one of the most important holidays of Yamatai, celebrating the birth of the incumbent emperor. It changes when a new emperor takes the throne. Aside from prayers and well-wishes, it is the one time a year when the grounds and gardens of Imperial Palace in Daitoshi are open to the general public—which, excluding staff, government officials, high ranking army officers, and state guests, is normally forbidden to all outsiders.

Birthdays of imperial family members – specifically the immediate family of the current emperor; i.e siblings, spouse and children – are celebrated like holidays as well.

It is celebrated only in Yamatai and its dependencies, with some observance in Hinomoto and Mizuho.

Ganjitsu

Ganjitsu (元日) is the term for Teikoku New Year, observed by all countries and dependencies of Genjin culture on Shogatsu 1^st, the first day of the year.

Koigokoro no Saiten

Koigokoro no Saiten (恋心の祭典/Festival of Love) is a favored time year for the Genjin people. It begins on the first Chuyobi in Aidzuki and continues for two weeks until the third Chuyobi. An ancient tradition, the festival predates the first tenno by at least eleven centuries.

It's a festival celebrating love and romance, where couples and lovers from all walks of life take to the streets and declare their undying love and affection for one another. Women traditionally give their significant other an omamori with their names sewn into it, while men give theirs a phoenix hairpin.

The highlight of the festival is on the penultimate night when the Tama Hanryo (魂伴侶/Soul Mate) dance is held. Couples have their left wrists bound together with a red rope, called a Tamaneru (魂練る), as they dance. Popular superstition is that if a couple dances the whole night without the Tamaneru coming undone they will be together for eternity.

Koigokoro no Saiten is a favored time of year to get married as well, despite that most religious authorities discourage it. Because of the atmosphere the festival generates, a lot of children are normally conceived around this time of year as well.

Teikoku Saijitsu

Iwaitsuki 8^th is Teikoku Saijitsu (帝国祭日/Empire Day) is the anniversary of the foundation of the Empire of Yamatai celebrated as an official holiday. It is celebrated only in Yamatai and its dependencies.

Xinnian

Xinnian (新年/New Year's) is the New Year's festival in Jiti culture. It begins three days prior to New Year's and continues until three days after.

Septifidelic Holidays

Septimass

A Septifidelic holiday celebrating the abjaksan's victory over the dark lord. Observed on Rasanova 25^th. The date was chosen due to the lack of specific knowledge of the true date.

Talmyri Holidays & Festivals

Gnogtiar

A week-long Talmyri religious festival celebrating Gnogton, the king of the gods. It starts on the first Coloday of Gopaco and ends the following Pafsiday.

Unification Day

Holiday celebrating the conclusion of Alfrydion's War of Unification and the unification of Talmyrnia under a central government. Observed on Jesoran 8^th.

Vampiric Holidays & Festivals

Hollavien

A vampiric religious festival holiday celebrating the entire pantheon. Observed on Opesagyr 31_st.

Festival of Iza

A week-long vampiric paganistic religious festival to the Iza, the Vampiric Goddess Animals, Spring, Nature, Flowers, Trees, & Vegetation. It is held during the last full week of Trisca, in the week preceding the last Pafsiday of the month.

A young girl is randomly chosen to represent Iza. The girl is stripped of her clothes, coated with a special oil made from bloodflowers, and adorned with flowers in her hair. The girl spends several days in the branches of a holy tree like a throne. On the final day, she descends from the tree and rides a horse bareback to the temple of Iza to pray to her.

Diliri

Duliri (独立日) is the word for Independence Day in Miaogui, celebrated on Zhishuai 9^th.
