Along with many dishes and drinks that we make in our world, Qirsyllviar is home to a number of unique food, dishes and beverages that make use of unique ingredients found in the world.

Food & Dishes

Name Description & Notes
Seafood
Kraken Calamari A dish made from krakens.

Eaten mainly in coastal regions or islands near where krakens are known to inhabit, including places like Talmyrnia or Fuso. The Korio islands of the Talmyri Empire are particularly famous for it.

Egg Dishes
Leviathan Egg Any food made from the eggs of a leviathan.

Getting an egg from a leviathan nest is so risky that the very dish is a rare sight anywhere.

Griffin Egg Any food made from the eggs of a griffin.

Because griffins tend to make their nests up on high cliffs, getting an egg is so risky that the very dish is a rare sight anywhere.

Phoenix Egg Any food made from the eggs of a phoenix.

Unfertilized eggs are typically used, as eggs that will hatch are considered too valuable to be used as food. Fertilized and unfertilized eggs are very distinctive, so mistakes are rarely made.

Meat Dishes
Dragon Steak Steak made from the meat of any livestock dragon.

Using meat from wild dragons or non-livestock dragons is generally outlawed in most societies.

Mammoth Steak Steak made from the meat of a mammoth

Drinks & Beverages

Name Description & Notes
Alcoholic Beverages
Bloodwine A wine made from blood.

Pigs, cows, chickens, and other livestock are most common. But, sometimes the blood comes from sapient races, willingly or otherwise. Usually humans, but sometimes elves or fauns. The drink is typically enjoyed mostly by vampires but non-vampires have been known to partake in it, if only to be polite in front of vampiric company.

The source of the blood is always chosen with great care. There are all sorts of factors involved with choosing blood for bloodwine: including, but not limited to, race/ethnicity, age, health, ancestry, genetic conditions, etc.

Dwarven Beer Beer made using special techniques known only to dwarves.

The techniques to making dwarven beer are a closely guarded secret, and so merchants of the beverage tend to turn a hefty profit from selling even a single cask, regardless of the size.

Elven Wine Wine made using special techniques known only to elves.

The beverage is made mostly by High Elves and the largest producer is the Hylarene Empire, whom reportedly bottle nearly 50,000 gallons of the drink each year, nearly twenty times the amount compared to other High Elven countries.

The techniques to making elven wine are a closely guarded secret, and so, while bottles are fairly common, merchants of the beverage tend to turn a hefty profit from selling even a single bottle or cask.

Elven wine ages at slower rates than normal wine, and so older bottles tend to be more valuable and taste better without ever going sour. Rykardiac's Archaic Book of Records puts the oldest unopened bottle of vintage elven wine at 842 years old.

Fairy Nector A type of liquor made using special techniques known only to Alfheimish Fae Folk. The primary ingredient is a flower known to Fae Folk as the Gold Jade, and honey from a special species of bee native to Alfheim.

It is produced mainly on Alfheim, the only continent on Qirsyllviar where the Gold Jade is known to grow. Exports to the surface are common, but places that make it on the surface are rare.

Gallique Wine Wine made using special techniques only used in Gallia
Sunwine A wine made using special techniques invented and only used in Soleil. The primary ingredient is Sun-grapes, a bright yellow grape, almost gold in color, endemic to the Vieillesse Peninsula.

It gets its name not only from the grapes used, but from sun-like color of the wine and the practice of deliberately exposing it to sunlight.

A specialty of Soleil, drinkers of the beverage say it tastes like the sun itself.

While wine normally ages too fast when exposed to excessive sunlight, the special techniques used to make sunwine makes use of concentrated sunlight to make it taste great without aging too fast.

The primary producer is Ouvrard Wineries, an international winemaking company founded and owned by House Ouvrard of Soleil.

Talmyri Wine Wine made using special techniques invented and only used in Talmyrnia.
