Protoceratops (SciiFii)

Protoceratops oviraptorisaurus (name meaning "egg-thieving first horned face lizard") is a species of medium-sized omnivorous ceratopsian dinosaur, from the Upper Cretaceous Period (Campanian stage) that was once extinct and originally lived in what is now Mongolia, but has since been brought back from extinction by SciiFii and now lives in Cretaceous Park located in Sacramento, California. It is a member of the Protoceratopsidae, a group of early horned dinosaurs. Unlike later ceratopsians, however, it is a much smaller creature, about the size of a sheep (about 1.8 metres long), it lacks well-developed horns and retained some primitive traits not seen in later genera. Protoceratops oviraptorisaurus has a large neck frill which is used as a display site to impress other members of the species, with males' frill turning bright red during mating seasons. Unlike its depictions in popular media (which may be outdated or inaccurate), Protoceratops oviraptorisaurus is an omnivore that mainly feeds on carrion, smaller animals, roots, tubers, and eggs (being the true egg thief towards eggs of oviraptorids, dromaeosaurs, troodonts, among other dinosaur eggs, the complete opposite of its portrayal in pop culture), only feeding on fruits and leaves during times when meat is hard to find and/or catch. In fact, the staff of Cretaceous Park were testing Protoceratops oviraptorisaurus in Cretaceous Safari as they thought these ceratopians would would get along with other herbivores/omnivores, but some Protoceratops oviraptorisaurus killed some smaller animals and stole a few eggs of other dinosaurs, so they were quickly relocated to their own exhibit, Protoceratops: Egg Thieves of Mongolia.
