The movie is based on CBS's 1996 Saturday Morning cartoon series of the same nameProject G.e.e.K.e.R. is also Sony Pictures Animation's first animated feature film to feature characters from the Adelaide Productions library, due to Sony Pictures Animation's 2013 Acquisition of Adelaide Productions.

Plot

Set in the future, the show was based around a genetic shapeshifter experiment known as Project GKR (Geno-Kinetic Research), who had been stolen by Lady MacBeth (a short-tempered female cyborg with a bionic arm) before he could get the programming he needed to be a deadly and powerful weapon at the hands of the evil Mister Moloch, head of Moloch Industries. Due to the lack of his final programming, "Geeker" is left to be a totally random, permanently salivating, four-fingered klutz. He only occasionally manages to use his powers to any full extent, a blessing and a threat to his friends and their enemies. Lady MacBeth and her partner-in-crime Noah (a green, baseball cap wearing and intelligent Tyrannosaurus rex) must now prevent Moloch and Geeker's creator Dr. Maston from ever obtaining Geeker at all costs.

After stealing GeeKeR from Dr. Maston, GeeKeR's self-destruct mode initiates, a feature Dr. Maston put in to keep GeeKeR from falling into the wrong hands. Becky and Noah have no choice but to seek Maston's help in this matter. Can Becky and Noah defuse GeeKeR before he makes like a bomb and goes BOOM!?

Moloch finally captured G.e.e.K.e.R., and programmed him into a powerful human. G.e.e.K.e.R. later destroyed most parts of the future, but Noah and MacBeth would like to have their "Annoying GKR" back. GKR later realized that Noah and MacBeth were his friends, and later destroyed Moloch and his minions, and came back to his normal, annoyingly stupid self. Noah and MacBeth are finally happy to see G.e.e.K.e.R., and GKR will finally save the world. And after he did, G.e.e.K.e.R., Noah, and Lady MacBeth were praised by the whole future.

In 2009, Sony Pictures Animation announced that they'll be doing a theatrical film based on CBS's 1996 Saturday Morning cartoon of the same title. It was in development, until 2012. Doug TenNapel and Doug Langdale decided to have it flash-animated, but have the old voice-acting back. In 2013, Sony Pictures Animation and Adelaide Productions are currently owned by Sony Pictures, but Sony Pictures Animation acquired the rights to the entire Adelaide Productions library, and Adelaide Productions became Sony Pictures Television Animation. Doug TenNapel created his first animated theatrical film, based on his video game franchise, entitled Earthworm Jim that was distributed by Universal Studios, and released on July 5, 2013. The Earthworm Jim movie was traditionally-animated, receiving a PG rating from the MPAA. Earthworm Jim as a movie became a box office success, with very positive reviews from critics and audiences. Doug TenNapel is working on a sequel to his theatrical creation, and hopes that Project G.e.e.K.e.R., as a movie would end up like Universal Studios' Earthworm Jim movie. In 2013, Sony Pictures Animation and Adelaide Productions are currently owned by Sony Pictures, but Sony Pictures Animation acquired the rights to the entire Adelaide Productions library, and Adelaide Productions became Sony Pictures Television Animation.
