Past is the fifteenth episode of the first season of the American police procedural and legal drama television series The Sullivans. It is a 60 minute special.
Summary[]
On their 12th anniversary, Drake and Katherine tell their family and colleagues on how they first met, how Drake was inspired to became a cop and how Drake & Katherine became the couple they are today.
Plot[]
On their 12th anniversary, Drake and Katherine take their family and colleagues to the bar and grill where they first met and tell them their story in flashbacks:
15 years prior, Drake, who was in his mid-20s, returned home from his fourth tour of duty after being honorably discharged. He had served in the Marines since out of high school for eight years, made the rank of Staff Sergeant, and amassed many medals and commendations. Now a civilian, he now struggled with what to do with his life now, and with PTSD from some of the combat he took part in. He decided to live with his parents Ryan and Rachel (Edie Falco) until he could get on his feet.
One night, Drake went to a local bar. There, he first meets rookie ADA Katherine Ashford who sat next to him on the bar. As they flirted with each other, both of them seemed to hit it off, but soon found themselves at odds with their differing personalities. Then, Drake's old high school sweetheart Sharon Carlyle, the daughter of a prominent family, arrived. As the three engaged in some conversation about their lives, Drake decided to take Sharon home as Katherine watched on. When they arrived at Sharon's home and got to her front door, Sharon hoped to reconnect with Drake by getting him to open up about his military experiences. But this only triggered his PTSD and he bitterly refused. It was revealed that they had broken up after Drake's second tour of duty for the same reasons. The two argued, and the hostile Drake lost his temper and injured his hand after punching a wall of her house. He shook off Sharon's attempts to help him, and she, fed up with his behavior, went into her house, though not before giving Drake some parting advice: no matter what hell he experienced overseas, he shouldn't be afraid to ask for help, to connect with people, or to live life in general by letting his PTSD and uncertainty about his future get the better of him. After she closed the door, Drake stood in silence for a moment and then left the house.
Drake returned to the bar, but the bartender told him that Katherine had already left. He then drank himself drunk. Afterwards, he left the bar and fell asleep drunk in his car. The next morning, Drake, felling more sober, decide to go back to Sharon's place to apologize in person for his behavior the previous night. When he arrived though, he found her front door open, and went inside to investigate. He found the place ransacked and eventually discovers Sharon's dead body, bound, gagged, beaten and raped. As he stared at the body in absolute shock, Drake was ambushed and knocked out from behind. When he came to, the police, including then-Sergeant Eugene Winder and Detective Landon Kruger, had already arrived at the scene. As Winder and Kruger questioned Drake, he told them his story, but is unable to provide a solid enough alibi due to not remembering much due to his drinking. In addition, a nosy neighbor revealed that she had seen him and Sharon arguing the night before, and of his outburst and injuring his hand. That, coupled with the later discovery from his military medical files about his PTSD, and the lack of evidence of any other person being in the house, led to Drake being arrested for rape and murder.
At Drake's arraignment, his sister Amanda (Emily Deschanel) represented him, and his entire family came to watch, as did Sharon's family. Surprisingly, the Carlyle family actually didn't believe that Drake killed Sharon, citing that they know Drake would never hurt Sharon even in spite his PTSD and the argument that they had the night of the murder. Drake also discovered that Katherine is working second chair in his case, with the first chair being ambitious ADA Milo Stetler (Stephen Bogardus). Despite Amanda's best attempts to get him ROR or a reasonable bail, citing his close ties to the community, being the son of a prominent judge, and him willing to give up all potential methods of fleeing, the judge, Vince Rosenberg (James Naughton), remanded Drake to custody pending trial, citing the case being high profile and feeling that Drake's PTSD and military training made him a danger to society.
While in jail, Drake was forced to fend off several criminals who had it out for his father for helping put them there, while his family built a defense for his case. Stetler and the prosecution painted Drake as a soldier suffering from PTSD and inability to be a civilian again and desperately wanting relief from his combat experiences with sex, and then losing control and killing Sharon for refusing to submit to his desires, using previous incidents of PTSD as examples. Amanda, however, painted him as a caring man, who despite his struggles, was taught to respect women above all, and as a person with a sense of duty and morality, citing his accomplishments in the military.
The case appeared to be an even-split with the jury during deliberations, but Katherine started to suspect that something is off and, feeling that she could not trust Stetler, told her mentor, then-ADA Andrew Bishop about her gut feeling, remembering from what she saw in Drake at the bar when he was taking Sharon home. Bishop told her to talk to the DA investigator on the case. The two went to Susan Medina (Jacqueline Obradors), the lead DA investigator in the case, who revealed to them that she found video evidence that could potentially exonerate Drake, but Stetler had not presented it at all. Knowing that they won't be able to access the evidence without Stetler's approval and believing that he is committing a Brady violation, Bishop distracted Stetler with a conversation about the case while Katherine dug into Stetler's texts and find that he had recently been in contact with Louis Addison, Colorado state senator, regarding taking care of something regarding “the Marine”. After Stetler returned to work, Katherine took Medina and they told Bishop and then-District Attorney Albert Hunter (Robert Wisdom) in private that Stetler might be railroading Drake because he was texting Addison. Hunter, realizing that Stetler might be unethically using the case as a stepping stone for the next DA election, told them to tread lightly and find more evidence of the conspiracy. Bishop told Katherine to keep him informed while he kept an eye on Stetler.
Later, Katherine visited Drake's family. At first, they assumed that Katherine came to try built more case against Drake, but Katherine informed Ryan, Rachel and Amanda about the video evidence that proves Drake's innocence, which Stetler has not presented and the texts he had got from Addison. This left Drake's family livid that Stetler would knowingly suppress evidence that would exonerate him. Ryan informed Katherine that Drake went to school with Addison's two sons for years. She explained that they need more proof that there is a conspiracy to railroad Drake into a conviction. Ryan says that they should talk to the Carlyle family about the connection between Sharon and the Addison family; Katherine informs Ryan that he and Amanda, can't since they are family members of the defendant, but assured them and Rachel that she will find a way to clear Drake and she had someone she trusts watching Stetler.
With probable cause, Katherine, along with Medina and Winder, questioned the Carlyles about the connections between Sharon and the Addison family. Sharon's father suspected that it had to be Addison's youngest son Henry, because he and Sharon dated not long after she broke up with Drake, but when she broke up with Henry, he became obsessed with her for several years. Amanda visited Drake, telling her brother, off the record, that Katherine believes his innocence and what they discovered. Drake, feeling relieved that someone now believes his innocence, told his sister that he met Katherine at the bar the same night he drove Sharon home. Amanda noted that Drake might actually like Katherine, and slightly teased her brother over it, much to his embarrassment. Before leaving, Amanda told Drake that it's not over for him and his innocence would be proven soon.
Katherine, along with Ryan, Medina, Winder and Kruger visited the Addisons regarding their connection with Sharon, pretending to do follow-up question about her to avoid suspicion. Their visit ended up spooking Henry. That night, Winder, Kruger, Medina and Katherine staked out the Addision residence, and eventually saw Henry take a duffel bag and putting it in his car. They confronted Henry, and Medina discovered the bag had bloody clothes, duct tape, and a baseball bat with traces of blood on it. Henry was then arrested.
Forensics found that the blood on the clothes and DNA on duct tape matched Sharon's and they found blood on the baseball bat belonged to Drake, thus confirming that it was used to knock him out at the crime scene. When questioned in interrogation by Katherine, Winder and Kruger with Ryan, Medina and others observing, Henry remorsefully confessed that he had been in love with Sharon for years, but he could never get to be with her because of her being in love with Drake. He finally got the chance after she broke up with Drake after his second tour of duty, but the relationship only lasted a few months, which was mainly due to his clinginess. After she broke up with him, he became obsessed with her afterwards and jealous of her later relationships. He admitted that he tried to win her back multiple times, but she refused each time. The night of the murder, after Sharon went out, Henry broke into her house and waited. When Drake dropped her off, he overheard their argument. After she entered the house, Henry confronted Sharon and tried to get her to return to him, but she refused again. When Sharon tried to call the cops on him after he refused to leave, he lost his temper and beat her, tied her up with duct tape and gagged her, and raped her, using a condom. While raping her, he removed her gag and desperately tried to get her to admit her love for him. When she again refused and spat on him, he then lost it again and strangled her to death as he finished raping her. Afterwards, he spent the entire night cleaning up as much evidence as he could. When Drake returned the next morning just as he was finishing cleaning up, Henry knocked him out with the baseball bat and ran out the back door, where no one would see him. He admitted that he told his father what happened and Louis promised to handle everything. Kruger and Winder arrested Henry for rape & murder and told Henry to hand write his confession. Katherine told him that he will arraigned as soon as possible. With the new revelation of Louis knowing what his son had done, Winder suggested that they needed a plan to get him to confess to covering up his son's crimes. Katherine expressed that whatever it was, it had to work for the sake of Drake. When Ryan told Winder and Kruger about his plan to expose Louis, they, Katherine, and Medina all agreed to along with it. As they got ready, Ryan praised Katherine by noting that, despite being a new ADA, she is a far better prosecutor than Stetler ever would be.
Wearing a wire, Ryan confronted Louis at his office, just as he'd finished calling a lawyer to represent Henry. After Ryan informs him about the evidence they found against Henry and Henry's confession that Louis had known what he had done to Sharon, Louis eventually admitted that when Henry told him what he did to Sharon, he correctly deduced that the police would initially suspect Drake of the crimes. So Louis persuaded Stetler to withhold the video evidence that cleared Drake to ensure conviction and bury his son's involvement in return for political and financial support for Stetler's runs for DA and later, Governor. Angered, Ryan pushed him to the wall and lambasted him for his willingness to let Drake take the fall for Henry's crimes. Louis said that he had to protect his son, reasoning that Henry never would've survived in prison, while Drake, being an ex-Marine, would've been fine, and asked Ryan that if Drake had committed the murder, would he have done the same? Ryan replied that if Drake had killed Sharon, he would've had to own up to his mistakes, but Ryan would've still been there for him. With that confession, Winder and Kruger arrested Louis for evidence tampering and obstruction of justice. Katherine then called Bishop and filled him in about the true nature of Sharon's murder and Louis and Stetler's cover-up to frame Drake for everything. Bishop resolved to inform Hunter and told her to go to Judge Rosenberg with the evidence about. Katherine and Amanda met with Judge Rosenberg in his chambers and presented the evidence that proved Drake's innocence. Outraged by Stetler's unethical actions, Rosenberg allowed the evidence to be presented in court.
The next day, following the arrests of Henry & Louis and the evidence being provided in courts, Drake was cleared of all charges and released, which shocked and horrified Stetler. After Drake's release, Katherine, Bishop, Hunter, Ryan and Judge Rosenberg confronted Stetler over his misconduct and corruption, at which Stetler remorselessly brushed off his actions, citing that the last thing the world needs is another crazed war vet when they could have a DA or governor who could do so much better. This earned him a well-deserved punch from Ryan. Katherine angrily tore into the corrupt Stetler, telling him that Drake was innocent of the crime and he was railroading him just to make a name for himself. Stetler coldly stated that she is just naïve about what the world truly needs. Hunter responded that the world truly did not need a prosecutor who choses ambition over justice, and fired Stetler as Katherine proudly stripped him of his credentials. A disgusted Judge Rosenberg then angrily informs Stetler that he would ensure that the now ex-ADA would get disbarred for his corrupt actions, and that all of his cases would be reviewed. Hunter then instructed Bishop to take over some of Stetler's current cases, and that he would get more ADAs to handle the rest. The five then reported Stetler to the bar, and with their testimonies, he was disbarred for his Brady violation and unethical practices, and the governor ordered an inquiry into all of his previous cases.
Later, Winder had Drake meet him at his station and recommended that he become a cop after he dealt with his PTSD. Drake, remembering his experiences in prison and being cleared, decided to take Sharon's last advice to him to start living again, and accepted the offer. Winder referred him to a psychologist who specialized in people and soldiers with PTSD, which he acknowledged. Later at night, Drake then showed at to Katherine's apartment and thanked her for clearing him of the criminal charges. He asked her how she realized that he was set up. Katherine told him that she saw the kind of man he was inside when he was talking to Sharon at the bar and that, combined with the statements Amanda made about his character, she suspected that he was innocent even in spite of his PTSD, and she knew she couldn't trust Stetler because she knew something was wrong with the opening statements he made about him. Drake then started a relationship with Katherine by asking her out to dinner, which she accepted.
After they finish their story, everyone who first heard the story (Holmes, Andrea, Richter, Francis, Wie, Doyle and Dr. Fleiss) is amazed by how far Drake and Katherine had become because of the case. Drake says that because of the case, they married after dating for three years became parents to Finn and Mary. Finn and Mary become enamored over the story about how their parents first met and ask what became of everyone involved in the case. Drake, Katherine and Ryan tell them that Judge Rosenberg retired three years after the case and passed away from cancer eight years afterwards. Medina retired to Louisiana six years prior. Hunter lost the D.A.'s election to Bishop's predecessor and is now an activist for peaceful racial harmony. Henry Addison plead guilty to Sharon's rape and murder and received 20 years to life in prison, which he is still serving to this day. His father Louis, resigned as Senator, plead guilty to evidence tampering and obstruction, and was sentenced to a year to 18 months, which he served and was released, after which he retired from public life. Louis's other son, Randy, now lives in DC as a member of the House of Representatives, and has limited contact with his father and brother. And finally, following his disbarment and the governor's inquiry, Stetler was found to have committed unethical practices in four other cases, after which he moved to Arizona and vanished from the public eye in disgrace.
Ruiz, Holmes, Andrea, Richter, Nazario and Francis give positive feedbacks to the Sullivans' story. Doyle admits that, even though he is gay, found the story very compelling and how love can be found in unexpected ways. Cohen expresses pride that Katherine found true love with Drake. Wie expressed the same as well as some envy, revealing that her husband was killed in a plane crash when their daughter was a toddler, and it saddens her that he wasn't be able to hear such a wonderful story even if it was less than ideal. Dr. Fleiss remarks that given how strong the love and chemistry between them is, she sees that Drake and Katherine were meant to be. Drake says that while he had a hard time when he finished his last tour of duty, he was glad that he had people who helped clear him and meeting the woman who became his wife and had two children. He stated that while they went through some hard times, he has a life thanks to his colleagues, family and most of all, Katherine. Katherine says that when most of her family died, she was lonely and needed a fresh start. But upon meeting Drake and marrying him, it was the happiness she needs. She stated that she became a prosecutor that she is now because of her family and friends. She says that she is a mother to Finn and Mary, all because of Drake. Both Drake and Katherine professed their love for each other as they kissed. Then the Sullivans and everyone with them celebrated their 12th anniversary.

Quotes[]
(Drake, Katherine, their family and colleagues entered a bar and grill restaurant.)
- Drake Sullivan: Here we are, everyone.
- Nicole Richter: Why this restaurant as a place to celebrate your 12th anniversary?
- Drake Sullivan: This is where Katherine and I first met 15 years ago.
- Katherine Sullivan: Yes, that's why we picked it.
- Jackson Holmes: Whoa, I never thought that you guys first meet in a bar and grill.
- Kim Quincy-Holmes: Me either.
- Miguel Ruiz: Yes, this place is special to them because of it.
- Trent Doyle: Which is why they invited us here.
- Ryan Sullivan: Yeah, that's a reason for that.
- Miguel Ruiz: That's right.
- Hessa Cohen: Yes, most of you have never heard the story how they first met.
- Andrea Donnell: Hmm... So I assume we're going to hear about it.
- Eugene Winder: Yes, you will, Andrea. Because me and Mr. Bishop were present when that happen.
- Nathan Whitman: So was my late wife Amanda, Drake's sister.
- Dr. Kendall Fleiss: I heard about what happened to her. I'm sorry, Mr. Whitman.
- Nathan Whitman: Thank you.
- Hannah Wie: I lost my husband years back too.
- Mario Nazario: I lost my wife in a bus accident awhile back.
- Andrew Bishop: Alright, we can hear about all that later.
(As they were talking, Drake, Katherine, Finn, Mary and the waiters were setting up the tables.)
- Drake Sullivan: Alright, everyone. The tables are ready.
(Katherine comes into Bishop's office)
- Young Katherine: Andrew, can I talk to you?
- Young Andrew Bishop: Yes, Katherine. What is it?
- Young Katherine: The Drake Sullivan case. There's something off about it.
- Young Andrew Bishop: How so?
- Young Katherine: First of all, I didn't tell anyone else about this. I actually met Drake at the bar the night of the murder and I talked to him. Then Sharon came over and we chatted before he took her house that night. He didn't strike me as the guy who would murder his ex-girlfriend despite his PTSD and him being at her house when the cops arrived.
- Young Andrew Bishop: You met the defendant before the murder?
- Young Katherine: I know. The reason I told you this because I don't trust Stetler. His opening statement to Drake Sullivan seemed a little off compared to what I saw in him with me and the victim.
- Young Andrew Bishop: Are you sure?
- Young Katherine: Absolutely, Andrew. My gut is telling me that Drake may have not committed the crime.
- Young Andrew Bishop: (After a moment) Let's talk to the lead DA investigator. Who is it?
- Young Katherine: Susan Medina.
- Young Andrew Bishop: Let's talk with her in private.
(Winder, Kruger, and Katherine are in interrogation with Henry Addison; while Ryan, Medina and Bishop watch)
- Henry Addison: (said while being tearful) I've been in love for Sharon for many years, but I never could have her because she was in love with Drake. Then when she broke up with him after his second tour of duty, I finally got that chance. We dated for... about four months. Then, she broke up with me.
- Detective Landon Kruger: Why?
- Henry Addison: She said that I was being too clingy or something like that.
- Young Eugene Winder: What happened afterwards?
- Henry Addison: I became... jealous of her later relationships. I was obsessed of winning her back. I tried multiple times to win her back, tried to show her that I could change, that I could be the man for her, but she kept saying "no".
- Young Eugene Winder: What happened the night Sharon was murdered?
(Henry was silent for the moment)
- Young Katherine: Answer the question.
- Henry Addison: I–I... I can't–
- Young Katherine: You tell us what you did and I'll see about getting you leniency, Henry. Otherwise, the D.A.'s office will go for the maximum.
- Henry Addison: After Sharon left, I broke into her house and I waited. When she and Drake came back, I overheard their argument outside. When she came in, she saw me and I pleaded with her to return to me, even bought her a new necklace. But she refused again and ordered me to leave. But I... I wouldn't. I just couldn't take no for an answer anymore....
- Detective Landon Kruger: How did you kill Sharon, Henry?
- Henry Addison: (in tears) When I wouldn't leave, She said she was gonna call you guys and report me. She took her phone out and I... I lost my temper! I beat her to prevent her from calling the cops. Then I tied her up with duct tape and gagged her. Then I...I... pulled up her dress, tore off her underwear, put on a condom, and I... I raped her! While I was...doing it, I removed the gag and I begged to admit that she loved me. But she again refused and spit on my face. I... I completely lost it. I strangled her as I kept at it, and as I finished, the light just... faded from her eyes... (sobs for a moment, then continues) Afterwards, I just sat there... staring at her body, unable to believe what I'd just done. I sat like that for... about an hour. After I finally returned to my senses, I started cleaning up as much evidence as possible: the tape, the clothes, the condom. I vacuumed and shampooed the carpet. I was determined to get rid of any trace that I had been there. I was up all night and into the next day. Then in the morning, as I was finishing up, Drake came back, came inside and found Sharon. I was scared he would see me, so I knocked him out with the baseball bat and ran out the back door. No one saw me. I went home and immediately told my father everything that happened. He said he would take care of it.
- Young Ryan Sullivan: (while watching the interrogation) I don't believe it.
- Susan Medina: Senator Addison knew what his son did and he was going to cover it up.
- Detective Landon Kruger: Henry Addison, you're under arrest for the rape and second-degree murder of Sharon Carlyle.
- Henry Addison: I know my rights.
- Young Eugene Winder: Well, then you know to write everything you said down on paper.
- Young Katherine: I'll set for his arraignment and Drake's release as soon as possible.
(Ryan walks into Louis Addison's office; Louis is on the phone trying to get a lawyer for Henry following his arrest)
- Senator Louis Addison: (to someone on the phone) Just get back to me as soon as possible. (hangs up; to Ryan) Ryan, this is a surprise. Not exactly a good time, but...
- Young Ryan Sullivan: It's over, Louis. I know that Henry killed Sharon Carlyle. And so do the police.
- Senator Louis Addison: Ryan, come on, there's no way that Henry would...
- Young Ryan Sullivan: Save the excuses. We have evidence that says otherwise, evidence that Henry was caught trying to dispose of. We found Sharon 's bloody clothing, the duct tape with her DNA and the baseball bat that had Drake's blood on it, which Henry used to knock him out. Henry confessed to what he did to Sharon and that he told you about it. According to him, you told him you would take care of it. We found texts between you and ADA Stetler on his cell phone about taking care of Drake. I'm not leaving until you tell me the truth.
- Senator Louis Addison: (after a moment of silence) I'm sorry.
- Young Ryan Sullivan: Sorry? Is that all you have to say...
- Senator Louis Addison: I was being a father, just like you would have been! When Henry told me what he had done to Sharon, he was distraught by it. I promised him that I would handle it. I figured that the police would suspect Drake for the murder. Then I heard that Milo Stetler was going to be prosecutor on the case and I knew he was ambitious and seeking to expand his political career. So... I persuaded him to withhold that video evidence that would have cleared Drake to ensure the high-profile conviction and bury Henry's involvement. In return, I would've given Stetler political and financial support for his runs for DA and later, for Governor.
(Upon hearing that, Ryan was outraged. He grabbed Addison and pushed him to the wall.)
- Young Ryan Sullivan: You were gonna let my boy rot in jail for what your boy did, Louis?! How far were you willing to go to let him take the fall for Henry's crimes?!
- Senator Louis Addison: I just did what I had to do to protect my son. Deep down, even in spite of what he did, Henry's fragile inside. He would've never survived in prison. But Drake, he's an ex-Marine, he would have been fine. Besides, what would do you have done if he had committed the crime? Huh? If Drake had killed Sharon, wouldn't you have done the same for him?"
- Young Ryan Sullivan: If that had happened, my son would have to own up to his mistakes, but I would've tried to get what leniency I could for him. And most of all, I would've still been there for him as a father.
(Winder and Kruger entered the Senator's office and came to him)
- Young Eugene Winder: Louis Addison, you're under arrest for evidence tampering and obstruction of justice. (Winder reads Addison his Miranda rights as Kruger puts the cuffs on him and hauled him away)
(Stetler is summoned to Judge Rosenberg's chambers after Drake's exoneration where the judge, Katherine, Bishop, Hunter, and Ryan are all waiting)
- EADA Milo Stetler: You wanted to see me?
- Judge Vince Rosenberg: Drop the innocent act, counselor. We know about the evidence you suppressed, the evidence that would have exonerated Drake Sullivan, but that you withheld because you wanted a high-profile conviction so you could become a rising star and secure funding and influence for your political career. That's a serious breach of ethical conduct.
- District Attorney Albert Hunter: We know Senator Addison persuaded you to withhold the video footage to in exchange for funding your future campaigns for DA and Governor. You knew that his son Henry killed Sharon Carlyle and you were railroading Drake Sullivan for your own selfish ambitions.
- EADA Milo Stetler: (taking an uneasy breath) You're kidding, right?
- Young Andrew Bishop: No, we're not, Milo. You were using this case as a political stepping stone and you were willing to convict an innocent man to do it.
- Young Ryan Sullivan: Using my son to expand your future ambitions? Making him out as a rapist and murderer? What kind of prosecutor, what kind of man are you?
- EADA Milo Stetler: (in an arrogant tone) I'm the kind of man who thinks the world would be a better place with less crazed vets who can't re-adjust running around it, especially when it could have a DA or governor who could do so much better.
- Young Ryan Sullivan: (disgusted) Drake was just going through a tough time, just like so many other veterans who come home from overseas. He's a Marine, a hero who served his country.
- EADA Milo Stetler: A "hero" who couldn't deal with his war terrors. Which is why he's one of the last things the world needs right now.
(Ryan, enraged by Stetler's comments, throws a right cross at his face, knocking into Rosenberg's bookshelf. Katherine storms over, grabbed his suit jacket and pushes into the bookshelf)
- Young Katherine: Drake Sullivan was innocent, and you were just railroading him just to make a name for yourself.
- EADA Milo Stetler: (Scoffs at Katherine's comment) You're just as naïve as a stupid cow, Katherine. You have no idea of what the world needs. None of you do!
- District Attorney Albert Hunter: No, but I know what the world doesn't need: a prosecutor like you, who would put his own personal ambitions over truth and justice. You're fired, Milo. Effective immediately.
(upon hearing that, Katherine proudly striped Stetler's credentials from him.)
- Young Katherine: You won't be needing this anymore, you son of a bitch. (hands Stetler's credentials to Hunter)
- EADA Milo Stetler: (angrily) You think you can just get rid of me that easily?!
- Judge Vince Rosenberg: I certainly do. I'm going to personally see to it that your ass is disbarred for this, and that all your cases are put under review.
- District Attorney Albert Hunter: And don't even bother coming back to the office to pack up. I'll make sure all your personal belongings are delivered to you.
- Judge Vince Rosenberg: Clear my chambers now, Mr. Stetler!
(After a moment, a humiliated and defeated Stetler leaves Judge Rosenberg's chambers with bailiffs escorting him)
- Judge Vince Rosenberg: I'll be calling the disciplinary committee and bar association now. (Judge Rosenberg makes the call)
- District Attorney Albert Hunter: Andrew, you take over some of Stetler's cases. I'll have other ADA's handle the rest.
- Young Andrew Bishop: You got it.
- Young Katherine: I guess we'll be working together now, huh Andrew?
- Young Andrew Bishop: Yes, you'll be my second chair from now on, Katherine.
- Miguel Ruiz: I know you already heard this, but this story is one of more compelling first meeting stories I heard.
- Jackson Holmes: You two have such a great story of how you two became a power couple. My first meeting with Kim wasn't as dramatic as yours.
- Kim Quincy-Holmes: No, but it was a nice one. You guys have such an great love story.
- Andrea Donnell: I didn't think I would hear such a real-life story about love that would come unexpectedly, like you two have, which puts a smile on my face. I don't think I will find something like that again.
- Nicole Richter: That is the one story that will stuck in my head for a long time. You two have come such a long way because of it, even though it was less than ideal.
- Mario Nazario: Like she said, you two may have not met in the best circumstances. But to see you develop strong chemistry and love you two have shown, that is something that I don't have words for it.
- Kyle Francis: I doubt I would meet someone with those circumstances. It's something not many people will see.
- Trent Doyle: Even though I'm gay, I found the story very compelling and I think that's how love can be found in unexpected ways.
- Hessa Cohen: I'll tell you one thing, Katherine. I believe that you found true love with Drake.
- Hannah Wie: Same here. But I feel some emptiness because my husband was killed in a plane crash when our daughter Joss was a toddler. It makes me sad that he wouldn't be able to hear such a wonderful story, even if it was less than ideal.
- Dr. Kendall Fleiss: From my evaluation on seeing how strong the love and chemistry between you two, I think you guys were meant to be.
- Drake Sullivan: I have something to say. Especially you Dad, Katherine, Captain. When I came back, I wasn't in a best of shape mentally. When you guys help cleared me, along with Amanda and Landon, I knew I had to get my life on track. I became a cop because of it and I got my life in order. Since then, I gotten married and I have two children here, who help set me straight. We went through some hardships in life, losing Amanda and Mom, among other hardships we had on life and on the job. With what we had, it helps us get by with our life. My life is much better, thanks to you guys. But most of all, thanks to my intelligent, beautiful, resourceful wife. (Katherine smiled)
