The short-faced wombat (Palorchestes modernus, name meaning "ancient leaper or dancer of modern times") is a species of marsupial of the family Palorchestidae, and was once extinct, but has been brought back from extinction by SciiFii. The short-faced wombat is a herbivore endemic to Australia, living in the marshlands as well as living near shallow lake surrounded by eucalypt woodlands, where it mainly feeds on bark, roots, and leaves with the help of its strong claws and its flexible lips. It is a large animal, similar in size to a horse, being around 2.5 m (8.2 ft) in length and a body mass exceeding 1,000 kg (2,200 lb). The conservation status of the short-faced wombat is Near Threatened due to some habitat loss and historic poaching, however, the conservationists have since protected short-faced wombats against hunting from poachers and the natural habitats of short-faced wombats are preserved.
