Palaeorhinocodon (SciiFii)

The false whale shark (Palaeorhinocodon giganticus), also known as the lesser whale shark, is a species of carpet shark that originally lived during the Eocene in what is now North America and Africa as an extinct species of Palaeorhinocodon and was once extinct, but has since been brought back from extinction by SciiFii and introduced throughout the modern world's oceans to help boost biodiversity. The false whale shark, as its name implies, is one of the closest living relatives of a whale shark (Rhincodon typus). The false whale shark is a very large fish, like the whale shark, but is not as big as whale sharks, growing to be about 33 feet (10 meters) long on average. Like whale sharks, it is a gentle filter-feeder that feeds primarily on plankton, krill, fish, and other tiny animals. However, unlike whale sharks, and possibly due to genetic engineering, the false whale sharks is very common in, not just the tropical oceans, but also subtropical and temperate oceans, making the false whale shark a much more common sight to many people. The reproduction of the false whale shark is almost identical to the form of reproduction from true whale sharks, and the false whale shark can live to be over 150 years old. The conservation status of the false whale shark is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts, the giant whale shark's wide range and its tolerance to most of the human activities.
