"Nothing Like This" is a song by American actress and singer Sofia Carson. The song was written solely by Carson and was produced alongside Ian Kirkpatrick. The track was released for streaming and digital download on January 10, 2020 by Capitol Records, along with "Groove" which also features vocals from Meghan Trainor and "Wouldn't Blame Ya".

The track impacted mainstream and hot adult contemporary radio on January 14, 2020 in place of the planned sixth single, "Patience" featuring Normani, from Carson's previous album, Peaceful (2019). A music video for the track was released on January 17, 2020 and featured a "bright, shiny aesthetic".

Background and release

Carson released three singles on January 10, 2020, "Nothing Like This", "Groove" featuring Meghan Trainor and "Wouldn't Blame Ya". It is unconfirmed if these tracks will be included on Carson's upcoming third studio album.

"Nothing Like This" debuted at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Carson's highest debut on the chart. The song then went on to peak at number 3 on the chart, becoming her highest peaking single. The song was released alongside a colorful lyric video, with the music video being released on January 17, 2020.

According to Carson, she had recorded the track as an experiment to "toy with new sounds" and never intended to release it. However, it ended up being released due to strong support from her label, Capitol Records.

On January 10, 2020, the official lyric video of the song was uploaded to Carson's Vevo account. The official music video was released the following week, on January 17, 2020. It was directed solely by Carson.


The video features Carson in a disco setting, initially wearing a pearl white ball gown. However, she soon changes in a flashy, silver dress and is assisted by various background dancers wearing pastel coloured dresses.

Live performances

The song was performed at the 2020 BRIT Awards on February 18, 2020.

Commercial performance

"Nothing Like This" debuted at number 30 on the US Billboard Hot 100, prior to any radio impact. The following week, it reached a new peak of number 15 on the Hot 100 and debuted at number 33 on the US Mainstream Top 40 chart. The song remained stable just below the chart's top ten for numerous weeks before eventually reaching the top ten on its tenth week. The track went on to peak at number 3 for two non-consecutive weeks. It also peaked atop the US Mainstream Top 40, becoming Carson's second song to top the chart following "Ethereal" in late 2016.

In the United Kingdom, "Nothing Like It" debuted at number 26 on the UK Singles Chart. It then peaked at number 4 on the chart, becoming Carson's seventh top ten entry on the chart. The song topped the Irish Singles Chart. The song also reached the top ten across all of Oceania.
