No One Will Save You is fifteenth and sixteenth episode of the fifth season the American police procedural and legal drama television series Vargas & Shane. It is a two-part episode.

With some of her colleagues starting to lose trust in her, Vargas decide to go rogue as her secret messager "Freddy" gives her more information which leads to a shocking discovery about the Anti-Crime Unit. Meanwhile, Shane's behavior sparks concerns when she disappears with her daughter.

A dangerous trap is set which could have serious repercussion for the ones involved. Meanwhile, the JACTF searches for Vargas after Shane and her baby daughter are taken to the hospital.

Part 1[]
At Pelican Bay Prison, during his therapy session, Sawyer Bailey opens up about his family's complicated past, his difficult relationship with his father and his feud with the LAPD, including his run in with two LAPD detectives. Also, he opens up about his daughter - Eve. Later, while Bailey enjoys some alone time at his cell, a guard with a face mask comes in to conduct a contraband search in his cell. As the guard enters the cell, Bailey tries to taunt them over their appearance, branding them of moving like an "annoying woman". The guard then removes their face mask, revealing themselves to be Vargas, who then orders a stunned Bailey to sit down. He expresses his happiness of seeing Vargas again and asks how she got in; she remarks a few people there owed her favors. Baliey tries to give his condolence about Thomas, but Vargas quickly change the subject and asks him about the Anti-Crime Unit, showing the paperwork of companies that Anti-Crime got their hooks into, including Bailey's. He denies that he being involved with crooked cops, reminding Vargas what happened with Kevin Griffin, but she isn't convinced that Bailey is telling the truth. Bailey then admits that he got involved with anybody who had same grudge against the LAPD and previously got involved with the unit. Vargas tells Bailey about the name of several LAPD Anti-Crime cops is on statements from Hamilton Reale Bank, and that Internal Affairs is refusing to investigate the unit, but Bailey believe somebody is pulling strings from above. He then warns her that Anti-Crime is building their own cult following within the LAPD citing that this could be as big a scandal as the Rampart one in the late 1990s or like Baltimore's Gun Trace Task Force during the 2010s. Vargas then asks Bailey about Freddy, showing her their messages but he denies of being her informant. Annoyed this recent revelation, Vargas admits that she still doesn't know who Freddy is, explains it is not her colleagues or anybody from Internal Affairs. Bailey believes it is somebody who believes Vargas is their savior and suggests that she look closer to home. Later, Vargas leaves Bailey's cell and then sneaks out of the prison. In his cell, Bailey pick up a cell phone under his pillow and calls an unknown person. He tells them about Vargas' visit and promises them that he didn't tell her anything, but warns about her reaction if she knew the truth - confirming that the mystery person is Vargas' informant Freddy.
The next morning, at sunrise, an unknown person sneaks into Anti-Crime's HQ. They go to CCTV store room where they knock out all of the cameras. They then go to Dunn's office and searches in his computer, where they find secret folder which requires a password. They quickly use out password and access a bunch of hidden files. They place a flash drive into the computer and download every file into it. Then, most of Anti-Crime detectives (except O'Connor and Smith) arrive at work but Dunn notices his chair has been moved in his office. Addison notices Cooper is talking to somebody on the phone, which he reveals is his older brother; he tells Addison that his brother's wife has given birth to a baby girl. As Cooper share his enjoyment of becoming an uncle, he hears noises downstairs and went to investigate. He spots the mystery person trying to sneak out of the HQ and tries to grabs them, but they knock him out and quickly flee. As they make their getaway, the person is shown to be limping and in pain. Elsewhere, at JACTF HQ, Reese informs Chapel, Lowry and Lee that she has almost completed her therapy sessions; she opens up about her difficulties at first after her ordeal, but has started to rebuild herself with the help from her family's support. Then, Lowry sees Shane arrive at HQ with Willow. He suggested Shane takes more time off, worrying that HQ isn't safe place for a baby, but she ignores his advice. In the office, Devlin speaks to Larsen over the phone. Larsen reveals Scalieri has left and taken their twins with her. She didn't leave him any notes or tell him where she was going. Devlin asked Larsen if Scalieri is staying with her parents, but he explains they haven't seen her since Thomas's funeral. Devlin suggests Scalieri needs more time off, but Larsen is worried about having to choose between Vargas and Scalieri if they can't resolve their issues. Devlin reminds Larsen about the process of grief, citing that as hard as loss is, life goes on, and people have to as well. As he ends up the call, Larsen tries to call Scalieri, but she doesn't answer. However, he left her a voicemail, begging her to come home and they can fix things. Then, Larsen finds a mysterious package on his doorstep with a note addressed to Scalieri. Larsen opens the note and is mortified to recognize the handwriting.
Meanwhile, Vargas and Delgado spends time with Neve, Leo, Hector and Caterina at the park. As Delgado plays catch with Leo and Hector, Neve asks Vargas about her relationship with Angela. Vargas respond that she always looks out for her sister growing up and tried to protect her from her father. She also admits that she hasn't told Angela about Neve yet because she is in rehab and is worried it will setback her recovery, which Neve agrees with. Later, as Delgado drives everybody home, Vargas sees Gage arguing with Dunn outside of Anti Crime Unit HQ. She gets out of the car and gets involved in the argument where Dunn accuses Gage of breaking into the unit, but Cage denies of any involvement. As Gage reminds Dunn what he did to his son Michael, Dunn denies that he murdered Gage's son and infers that Michael was as dirty as "the rest". Gage tries to attacks Dunn, but Vargas stops him and escorts Gage away. Back at the HQ, Shane tries to comfort a crying Willow. Gordon's ghost appears and taunts Shane up about being a bad mother. She tells Gordon to leave her and Willow alone, but he refuses and continues taunting her in her mind. Devlin and Forbes sees Vargas arrive at the HQ with Gage and confront her but she explains that somebody broke into Anti-Crime HQ and Dunn was seen arguing with Gage, whom he believed was responsible. The two confront Gage but he denies being involved in the break-in unit and explains that he was heading to work when Dunn confronted him on the street. Devlin starts to worry and warns Forbes that Dunn and his team may accuse their team or that Internal Affairs might finds out what happened and get involved, but Vargas informs Devlin's worst fears when Dunn, Diallo, Gonzalez and Addison turn up. Dunn gets everybody's attention and shows Devlin and Forbes a search warrant for the HQ, which he admits to pulling strings to get. As Devlin tries to defend their colleagues' innocence, Dunn tells the JACTF that nobody will leave the HQ until he finds out who was responsible for the break-in.
Meanwhile, O'Connor and Smith are at a hotel having sexual relations. Afterwards, Smith admits her own concerns of having an affair with a married man as she opens up about her troubled marriage and divorce, but O'Connor promises her that they are only having fun. Smith asked O'Connor about his own marriage but he quickly brushes her question off. O'Connor and Smith then notice their colleagues is trying to call them. Smith believes she and O'Connor need to head to work, but O'Connor ignores her suggestions. He flirts with her and vows to make sure that nobody will ruin their fun before they resume kissing. At the same time, the unknown person who calls themselves as "John Smith" books himself a hotel room, carrying a laptop and bag with him. As he enters the room, he opens the bag which reveals a medical kit which contains an injection and a bunch of medication. He injected himself in his stomach and takes a moment to rest in bed. Later, he opens his laptop and looks at Anti-Crime's hidden files which reveals connections to known big name criminals. Back at the HQ, Larsen and Scott arrives to see some of their colleagues being interrogated by Dunn while his team search at the HQ. Chapel, Shane and Reese argue with Dunn, believing that he is wasting his time. When Vargas asks Dunn if anything was stolen, he denies of anything was taken but points out that his chair was touched. She then sarcastically notes that Anti-Crime's HQ may have their own spooky figures and tells them to stop wasting everyone's time. Addison then points out that all of CCTV cameras were shut off, but Vargas notes that Anti-Crime had a blackout. Then Jennings turns up at HQ and confronts Dunn for his forced interrogation of the JACTF. Dunn explains that somebody broke into the unit's HQ, but Jennings tells him that he and his team have no rights to accuse the JACTF without any proof. He then orders Dunn, Diallo, Gonzalez and Addison to leave which they do. As everybody goes back to work, Vargas asks Larsen about Scalieri; he tells her that Scalieri disappears and takes her twins with her. She asks him if he should be worried, but he assures that Scalieri will come back when she calms down. Shane tries to persuade Vargas to stay but Vargas reminds her that she is suspended. As she heads outside, Vargas notices missed messages from Freddy. He explains that he has found more stuff about Anti-Crime. He reveals that they apparently have been responsible for several shifts in power between the gangs over the years and some of the recent leaders are in their pocket. Vargas is shocked, but then starts to gets suspicious and asks Freddy if he broke into Anti-Crime HQ; he admits that he did. She is furious at his actions, but he defends himself citing himself as a "risk taker". She asks Freddy if he is working with somebody else; he admits that he is working with other people, but promises that they are good people like her.
Meanwhile, Hobbs is at home, talking to Wilson on the phone. She opens up about meeting her father for first time and tells Hobbs that her father looks very broken. As Wilson shares her plan to get him out of prison, Hobbs reminds her that she needs hard evidence to proof her father's innocence. Then somebody knocks on his door. When he opens it, Hobbs is shocked to see Grace at his doorstep. He quickly ends his call with Wilson and turns his attention to Grace who wants to talks to Hobbs about something, but become curious as to whom he was speaking to. He tells her is only work, and she asks him if he wants to go out with her sometime. He becomes uncomfortable of Grace's question and says that he needs time to think, but Grace gets upset at his response. She then asks if he is seeing Wilson. He denies anything is going on between them like that, but Grace doesn't believe him and walks out. Back at the HQ, Devlin talks to Forbes about Vargas and Scalieri's situation and becomes worried over he made the right decision to suspends them. Forbes promise Devlin that he did the right thing. Devlin then starts to gets suspicious about mystery intruder who breaks into Anti-Crime HQ and believes they are sending clues to the JACTF. Forbes tries to brushes his suggestion off, but Devlin reminds him about how were the boxes was discovered and the note about bank details being left on his desk. As Devlin and Forbes continue to debate the situation, Larsen is seen overhearing their conversation, looking very worried. He then quickly leaves as he sees Jennings enter the office and tells Devlin and Forbes that that they got a domestic incident. At same time, an over-stressed Shane notices Larsen leaving and tries to gets his attention, but he tells her that he hasn't the time to deal with her problem. She then hides under her desk cradling a crying Willow in her arms. Elsewhere, O'Connor and Smith finally arrives at Anti-Crime HQ, but Dunn is not happy with their tardiness. When Dunn asked O'Connor where he was, he responds that it is not his business, but Dunn warns HIM that their boss is not happy over recent developments. O'Connor wants to know why Dunn is friends with their boss, knowing his true nature, but Dunn reveals that he owes the man his life. Addison went to see Cooper who is recovering after being knocked out. Cooper tells Addison that he didn't stand a chance from this "big man". Addison asked Cooper how did he know the person who was breaks into Anti-Crime HQ was a man. Cooper admits his grunting gave him away as man.
Elsewhere, Vargas sits on a bench, outside a shopping center. She tries to calls Scalieri, but she once more doesn't picks it. However, she decides to leave a voicemail; she apologizes for lying about what happened with Thomas on Halloween, admitting that she panicked and wasn't too sure what to do. She adds that she understood the risks from trying to help Thomas with his demons, helping him become a different person and even helping him out with his issues with Scalieri. As Vargas continues her plea in, an unseen person is seen standing behind her for minute. She pleds Scalieri to return to Los Angeles for Larsen's sake, reminding her that Lucas and Rachel need their father and that she understands her decision if she opts to never forgive her, and promises that she will stay out of her way in the future, after which she hangs up, ending the voicemail. As she is about to walk away, Vargas notices a blue small box, sitting next to her on the bench. She looks around, but doesn't see anybody then. She then receives a message from Freddy, who tells her to open the box. Vargas isn't convinced, but Freddy tells her to trust him. She then slowly and carefully opens the box, which reveals a cassette player with headphone and some papers. Later, at the cafe in shopping center, Vargas plays one of the cassette tapes which plays Dunn and Michael Gage talking with Michael expressing his concerns for his safety after a run in with a local gang, who learned that the unit stole from them. Michael wants to quit Anti-Crime, but Dunn warns their boss won't let him since he knows too much. Michael then shouts at Dunn for his refusal to back him, but Dunn reminds Michael that it was his decision to joins Anti-Crime. Michael then admits his regrets of being involved in such dangerous and illegal activities. Then a fight breaks out as Dunn tries to convince Michael to stay, but he refuses and threatens to reveals the truth behind the corruption. As Vargas reels over this, she tells Freddy her belief that Michael wasn't involved in the unit's activities and Gage had revealed his son planned to expose Dunn and O'Connor, but Freddy affirms that Michael was involved alongside his colleagues in illegal activities. When Michael got himself in trouble with the gang, he wanted to quit, but Dunn refused to let him go because of their boss. Vargas then points out Dunn is the head of Anti-Crime HQ, expressing her confusion over somebody being his boss. Then, Vargas looks over the report of Michael's death, which she discover he was planning to meet up with Dunn, but he never turned up. She played another tape which reveals Michael has evidence which he hid and was going to go IAD with. She quickly recognizes the place when Michael died and shares her plan with Freddy. As she was about to leave the cafe, Vargas accidentally bumps into Mayor Burke and Santana and drops some of the evidence on the floor. As she apologizes, Santana tries to help Vargas out as she continues to pick up everything, but she tells him that she is fine. He quickly change the subject and asks Vargas about Stern; she tells him that Stern is fine and is currently looking after his wife. He suggests she can speak to Stern for his benefit but she doesn't want to get involved. Vargas finally leave the cafe and heads to her car. She receives a call from Delgado, who wants to know when she is coming home. Vargas promise soon as she explains that she needs to deal with something. She drives off, unaware that somebody is follow her.
Meanwhile, Chapel, Lee, Reese and Scott arrive at a supermarket car park where a man named Alan threatens his ex-wife Sinead and her new boyfriend Bobby with a shotgun in their car. Alan begs Sinead to takes him back, but she refuses to listen, telling Alan that leaving him was the best thing ever. Chapel and Reese tries to interfere in the situation but Alan punches Chapel, and Reese started to have panic attack. As Lee calls for for back up, Scott stands up and walks towards Alan. Alan threatens Scott to get away, but Scott laughs at Alan's threats. Alan expressing up about his remaining feelings for his ex-wife despite their marriage being over. Scott tells Alan that threatening his ex-wife into getting back with him will only push her further away. Alan then decides that if he can't have Sinead, then neither will anyone else, and tries to turn back to her. But Chapel, now recovered, grabs the shotgun and punches Alan multiple times in the face, knocking him out, and he and Scott arrest him. Later, at the HQ, Hobbs finally arrives, but expressed his concerns about Grace to Forbes. Forbes tells Hobbs that he needs to make a decision between Grace and Wilson or he will be caught in the middle. Then, some of the JACTF colleagues left stunned when Scott wheels Alan, now sporting a bruised nose and black eye, into a holding cell. Lee went to see Shane at her office to talk her about.Alan situation but couldn't find her or Willow.
Meanwhile, Vargas arrives at an empty house near downtown of Los Angeles. She sneaks inside and starts to search, but couldn't find what she's looking for. Then, she hears a creek in the floorboards and opens one of them up, revealing huge bags of cannabis, cocaine and heroin. She quickly works out Michael stole those drugs. Vargas tries to calls her colleagues but then, two men turns up and violently attacks her. She tries to shoot them, but one of the men slashed Vargas in the arm with a knife, causing her to drop her weapon. She quickly runs upstairs and locks herself in a bathroom. The men chase her and break into every room one by one. Then, one of the men went bathroom where Vargas manages to knocked him around with a toilet tank top. She tries to run, but the man whom she knocked around regains himself and grabs her by throat, attempting to strangle her with a belt. Vargas shoves the man into the door frame and violently closed it on the man's head couple of time before knocking him out. She takes a moment to compose herself, but then other man chase her downstairs with his knife, telling Vargas that she made a mistake of snooping in somebody's business. He pushes Vargas down the ground and then tries to stabs her with his knife, but a gunshot rings out and other man collapses on top of Vargas, dead. Vargas sees somebody outside on the doorstep, but can't see their face. She finally moves the dead man away off of her and goes outside, only to find the mystery person gone. She then picks up one of the men's phone and she is shocked to see her photo being on it. She calls last known number and a unknown man with a disguised voice answers. Vargas asks them what they want from her, and they warn her to leave Anti-Crime alone and to get on with her life. Vargas snarks that she won't be scared off, and they warned her that she has no idea of whom she is dealing with and also point out the consequences including anybody who is a "rat" or "snitch". As the unknown person ends the call, Vargas quickly texts Freddy and alerts him what happened. He asks her if she was OK, and Vargas promises him that she is fine, but starts to fear the worse that her cover has been blown. Vargas closes the hole in the floor before heading to her car and calling Larsen. She tells him that she needs his help to pick up something, but also admits that she has made a bit of a mess.
Back at the HQ, Lee tells Devlin and Forbes that she can't find Shane and believes that she taken Willow with her. Then, Finn turns up, wanting to take Shane and Willow to lunch, but Devlin tells him that Shane took Willow for a walk. Finn decides to come back later when Shane is here. As he leaves off, Lee and Forbes berate Devlin for lying, but he believes Shane is doing her normal schedule as a new mother. Lee tries to call Shane, but then finds her phone in the office. Shane is seen walking down the street with Willow, looking stressed. She bumps into random people which features Gordon's faces. She shouts, telling everybody to leave her alone as she runs with Willow in fear.
Meanwhile, Vargas fixes her wounds in a public restroom and talks to Larsen on the phone, telling him that Dunn was supposed to meet up with Michael, but he never showed up. Also, Michael had kept those drugs hidden before he was killed. She also explains that Anti-Crime is working with somebody else who is ringleader of the situation. As Larsen searches the bodies of two men who tried to kills Vargas, he discover they are both police officers, which horrified both of them. He suggests she should take her family away for while, but Vargas refuses to be scared off. As Vargas heads out, she sees Georgia and Benny with Ally Price talking to somebody. As Georgia, Benny and Ally head to their car, Vargas starts following them. Shortly afterwards, the car stops and Ally jumps out brandishing a gun at Vargas. But Georgia and Benny tackle her to the ground and take the gun away. Vargas tries to assure her that she is on their side, but Georgia, Benny and Ally are hesitant to believe her. She admits that she is in serious trouble because somebody who is secretly working with Anti-Crime knows she's investigating the unit and they are looking for her. She suggests that she, Georgia, Benny and Ally all work together to help each other, but Georgia tells Vargas that she is only fighting justice for her brother. Vargas warns Georgia, Benny and Ally that they could be targeted if their secret is exposed. Vargas then reveals her plan to clear Slater for Romeo's murder: to gets access of all the evidence of Ollie's disappearance and Romero's murder from the LAPD's main computer system. When Vargas asked Georgia if she remembers that detective who investigated her brother's disappearance, Georgia gives the card with contain the detective's name and number. As Vargas is shocked to learn the name of the detective, Georgia explains that she tried to call him weeks ago, but his wife tells her that her husband was gone. Georgia reveals the detective's wife sounded very upset and she tried to push for more information but the wife hung up on her. She admits to Vargas that she was confused at first until she heard what really happened. Then she notices Vargas' reaction, but Vargas tells her that she doesn't know the detective.
Meanwhile, Lowry and Scott question Alan who demands to see Sinead. Scott asks Alan about his criminal record and violent behavior towards his ex-wife in the past. Alan denies hurting Sinead, but Lowry shows him the report, confirming this different story. Lowry also questions him about his involvement with violent criminals and far-right political groups, but Alan refuses to answer any questions and calls Lowry as a pig. At the same time, Devlin sends Chapel, Lee and Hobbs to find Shane. Reese wants to come, but Lee reminds her about her panic attack at car park and suggests that she stay at HQ. As Forbes talks to Finn on the phone and confirms his wife's disappearance, Chapel suggests to call Vargas, but Devlin refuses to get her involved. He then asks Forbes if he have heard from Larsen. Forbes tells him that he had no luck with Larsen and Jennings has disappeared too. Elsewhere, Shane is seen standing on top of Wilshire Grand Center, comfort Willow in her arms. She promise her daughter that nobody ever will hurt her and they are safe.
Meanwhile, Jennings meets up with Larsen near downtown of Los Angeles at the same house Vargas was at, and sees the two dead men. Recognizing them, Larsen tells Jennings that the men were LAPD officers. As Jennings suggest calling in, Larsen stops him and informs him that the men tries to kill Vargas. Jennings struggles to understand the situation as Larsen admits that Vargas may be in trouble, but doesn't reveal the full story. Larsen also informs him of the drugs that were hidden under the floor. As they move the drugs into their car, Larsen and Jennings finds an envelope which contains copies all of Anti-Crime's reports; stunned, he then orders Larsen to tells him everything. Elsewhere, Chapel and Lee meet up with Emily and Finn in the city. Emily reveals Jonathan and Chelsea are searching the local area and Gabrielle and Joanna is searching the wooded areas. As Chapel, Lee, Emily and Hobbs search around the city separately, Finn starts to fear for his wife and daughter's safety, but Emily promise him that they will find them. Back at the HQ, Lowry tries to tell Reese, Devlin and Forbes about Alan but they all become distracted by Shane's situation. Lowry asked Devlin if he has called Vargas, but Forbes reveals Devlin refused to get her involved. Lowry reminds Devlin about Vargas and Shane's close friendship and orders him to tell her before it is too late. As Devlin tries to call Vargas, Larsen and Jennings arrive at HQ with the evidence they've found, but Jennings is furious at Larsen for playing fast-and-loose with the situation. As Larsen tries to explain his and Vargas's action, Jennings tells him to finds her before Anti-Crime tracks her down.
Meanwhile, Vargas, Georgia, Benny and Ally arrives at LAPD HQ, but Vargas is still reeling over the discovery of the detective who investigated Ollie's disappearance. Also, she notices Devlin is trying to calls her but she decides to ignore it. As Georgia startes to get curious over Vargas's plan, she revealed that the detective kept copies of his evidence. Vargas heads to the man's workplace and logs into the computer, but then she starts to looks at recent messages between her and Freddy. Vargas texts Freddy and tells him that she know who he is. As Freddy questions this, she points out his earlier comment: he hasn't known her to give up on fighting for justice. She also points out she has realized that she already knew Freddy in real life and it isn't first time that she got involved in his mess. Freddy apologies to Vargas for lying to her, admitting that he never planned to get her involved in his plan, but he didn't have any choice. Then, she tells Freddy that she also know that he investigated Slater's disappearance. Freddy explains he was furious that Internal Affairs took the case from him and decides to work with another detective to find another way to search the truth in their own way. She asked him if she knew this "other detective", which he replies as yes. As Vargas locates all evidence of Slater's disappearance and Romero's murder and downloads it to a flash drive, Freddy explains that he never wanted Vargas gets caught up in crossfire, but tells him that she is fed up for putting her career on line for him and she is done with him. After got what she needed in flash drive, Vargas deleted every evidence from original system. Shortly then, Vargas gives Georgia the flash drive as she points out not all cops are bad. As she heads outside, Benny and Georgia share moment to each other as they opens up about their moment with Slater. Vargas receives another message from Freddy who tries to convince her that he can protect her, but she decides to ignore it. As she is about to block Freddy's number, a group of masked people grab Vargas and drag her into the van. Georgia, Benny and Ally rush outside in time to see the van drive away.
Meanwhile, Larsen feels anxious when he sees Jennings talking to Devlin and Forbes in the office. He again tries to call Vargas and begs her to call him back. After finishing his voicemail, Larsen answers another call only to hear Sawyer Bailey on other side, much to his shock. Bailey tells Larsen that he know about his secret investigation, and asks if Vargas knows everything, which he denies. Larsen tries to defend his actions, but Bailey tells him that he shouldn't play "pretended to be dead". As Bailey ends the call, Larsen starts to worry, which gets even worse when he sees Salomone and her men arriving at the HQ. Salomone gets Devlin's attention and wants to speaks to Larsen. Larsen sneaks out of the HQ and tries to be avoid to being seen, but one of Salomone's men saw him and chase after him. Devlin furiously confronts Salomone and demands what is going on; she tells Devlin that Larsen got involved with Internal Affairs' investigation with Anti-Crime and it isn't first time that he was snooping around. Devlin tries to defend Larsen, but Salomone tells him that he won't save his son. Elsewhere, a security guard finds Shane and Willow unconscious at the roof of the Wilshire Grand Center. At the same time, Chapel, Lee, Hobbs, Finn, Gabrielle, Emily, Jonathan, Joanna and Chelsea talks in the cafe as they all share concerns about Shane and Willow's wellbeing. Finn calls Delgado if he's heard from Vargas about Shane, but he tells Finn that he can't get hold of her. Then, Jonathan notices Gabrielle is acting strange. She tries to brushes his worries, but Jonathan accused Gabrielle of trying to cover something up. After some pushing, Gabrielle finally comes clean about witnessing Shane's strange and even erratic behavior, including her talking to "Gordon". Joanna deduces from all this that Shane is suffering from severe post-partum psychosis and that she and Willow need to be found immediately.
Meanwhile, Vargas has a black bag removed from her head and finds herself in an unknown room, tied to the chair. O'Connor and Smith question her about snooping around Anti-Crime. Vargas reminds them that innocent people have died but O'Connor denied that Anti-Crime are killers. Vargas explains that she is working alone. Dunn walks into the room and questions her, but she sticks to her story. Then, Vargas turns the tables when she questions Dunn about Michael Gage's death. Dunn denies murdering Michael and explains that he was trying to protect him. Then, Addison gets Dunn, O'Connor and Smith's attention and tells them that somebody wants to see Vargas. Everybody is then shocked when Santana, who is revealed to be Dunn and O'Connor's boss and ringleader of the Anti-Crime Unit walks into the room. Dunn notes that he has appeared at "wrong time", but Santana demands to take action over the situation. Elsewhere, Larsen hides in an alley, furious with himself. He calls an unknown person, who is revealed to Vargas' mystery informant Freddy. Larsen tells him that he never wanted to get Vargas involved in their investigation, and also reminds him that he supposed to be hiding, reminding him of the consequences if the truth comes out. He is also shocked to discover she deduced Freddy's identity, and horrified that Freddy plans to tracks Vargas down. Larsen tries to warns Freddy off, but Freddy ends the call.
Meanwhile, Chelsea alerts Chapel, Lee, Hobbs, Finn, Gabrielle, Emily, Jonathan and Joanna when she sees ambulance heading to Wilshire Grand Center. Everybody rushes to the building, and are shocked to see Shane and Willow being loaded into an ambulance. As Finn and Jonathan rush to the ambulance, the former begs Chapel, Lee and Hobbs to finds Vargas. Back at an unknown location, Vargas is shocked to learn that Santana is the ringleader of whole mastermind. Santana tells Vargas that he didn't wanted to leave the LAPD but he was forced to quit. He expresses his anger towards the department for forcing him out. Vargas tells Santana that she is not scared of him and vows to expose him and his team, but Santana points out that Vargas isn't first cop that he had to deal with.
Flashback: A young Dunn corners Victor Forbes down the street and aims his gun at him, but Dunn struggle to shoot Victor. Santana appears out of the shadow and shoots Victor dead. Second flashback: Santana meets up with Dean Westfield as they plot to murder Detective Tim Caruso. Third flashback: Santana arrives at the house where Michael is waiting for Dunn. Michael is shocked to see Santana and tries to escape, but Santana shoots him dead. Fourth and final flashback: Santana visits Dunn and O'Connor a week after Christmas. Santana tells Dunn and O'Connor that they messed up the plan because one of the shooters from warehouse shooting caused a crash near the woods and innocent families got caught in crossfire as a results. O'Connor promise he and Dunn dealt with the journalist and the detectives investigating them, but Santana reveals that some of detectives survived. O'Connor angrily questions Santana about their partnership, citing that it was his idea to commit the shooting, so this is all his screw-up. In response, Santana violently attacks O'Connor, knocking him to the ground and stomps on his left hand, breaking his fingers. Dunn quickly intervenes, pushing Santana away from a screaming O'Connor. He promises Santana that warehouse shooting and the crash won't be connected to them. Santana tells him to keep an eye on his partner and his foul mouth. As he walks away, O'Connor tells Dunn that Santana is a psychopath, but Dunn quickly defends him.
Back in present day, reeling over recent revelation about Santana, Vargas asked him his motive; Santana reveals he plans to become the mayor of Los Angeles, clean house in the LAPD, and then use his power to help the impoverished neighborhood. Then, he receives a call from Salomone, who is in cahoots with Santana and Anti-Crime. She tells Santana that Larsen has disappeared; He asks her if she and her men have found the other person involved, but she confirms that she hasn't and thinks they might be searching for a "ghost". Santana turns his attention back to Vargas and wants to know who sent information, but Vargas refuses to answer it. Then, Vercetti gets Devlin, O'Connor, Smith and Santana's attention and shows them the message from Freddy on Vargas' phone. Santana reads Freddy's messages; he is sorry for lying to Vargas and leading her on. He wants to see her to talk in person, explaining that he is tired of hiding. Santana quickly recognizes that Freddy is the one who sent Vargas information against Anti-Crime. He tells Dunn and O'Connor that they will trapped "Freddy" in public and Vargas is coming with them...

After manage to escape from Salomone and her men, Larsen walks down the street, frustrated and blaming himself over Vargas' situation. He then nearly panics when he sees a car driving towards him, but is relieved when he saw Jennings in driving seat. He gets into Jennings' car and they drive away. Jennings tells him that he is in serious trouble with Internal Affairs, who are aware of Larsen snooping around their investigation against Anti-Crime. Larsen tells Jennings that he didn't want to get involved, but quickly realized that he left something back at the HQ; Jennings tells him that he have already deal with it. Flashback: Jennings shows Forbes and Gage a laptop computer, which contains most of the evidence against Anti-Crime. He convince the JACTF may have a chance to catch Anti-Crime while Gage is hopeful to get justice for his son. When Jennings asks Larsen why he involved Vargas in his secret investigation, he explains it wasn't his decision, and he wasn't aware until he realized that Vargas got herself in too deep. Larsen is happy that Scalieri isn't here or things could goes worse. Then the two catch a radio report about the murder of two police officers (the same officers who tries to killed Vargas); José Duran, who died of blunt force trauma after his head was smashed by a bathroom door and Evan Parrish, who was shot in the back of the head. As Jennings tries to comfort Larsen's worries about Vargas, he receives an another call from Bailey, who wants to made a deal with him. Larsen refuses, but Bailey reveals that he got something which may could be Anti-Crime's downfall. Larsen doesn't believe he can trust Bailey, but Bailey reminds him that he hasn't been trustworthy to anyone for weeks. He then promises Larsen that he and Vargas won't hear from him again when everything is over.
Meanwhile, Shane and Willow is in stable condition at hospital, both fully wake. As Shane's family share their relief, Gabrielle tries to apologize, but Jonathan rejects this, blaming her for the situation. Outside of hospital, Devlin talks to Forbes who tells him about the laptop. Forbes tells Devlin that they got everything to prove Anti-Crime's guilt, but Devlin reminds Forbes that Larsen is in trouble with Internal Affairs, and Vargas is still missing. Forbes promises him that they will find them. Elsewhere, at an unknown location, Vercetti tells Dunn that he can't obtain data from Vargas' phone as he struggles to recover all of her delete messages to Freddy. Dunn suggests that he locate the same data that Vargas has and then find the messages. Then Dunn turns his attention to Diallo and Gonzalez to undercover Freddy's movement from today. Diallo warns him that they could just be chasing after a "ghost", but Dunn angrily snaps at her to get to work. He then goes to Santana's office, wanting to know his plan to trap Freddy, but Santana ignored his question as he is on the phone with someone. Witnessing Santana give Dunn the silent treatment, O'Connor asks him why he is friends with Santana. Dunn reveals Santana helped him to advance his career and realize his potential beyond the LAPD. O'Connor then asks what they should do with Vargas regarding Freddy; Dunn vows to make her talks. Later, the two and Smith go interrogate Vargas. As all three enter the room, Vargas knocked O'Connor out, but Dunn and Smith overpower her, pinning her to the ground. Smith demands Vargas tell them who Freddy is. She refused to answer, explaining Freddy is a "dead end". Dunn takes his turn to question Vargas, but she admits that she doesn't know Freddy's identity, and even if she did, she'd never reveal it. As Dunn and Smith accuse Vargas is lying, she warns them that somebody will notice that she has been kidnapped, but O'Connor tells her that nobody is coming to her rescue.
Meanwhile, at an LAPD station, Georgia, Benny and Ally talks to a police detective as they report Vargas' kidnapping. The detective looks at all CCTV footage at inside and outside of the department, but Vargas isn't seen in any footage. The detective believes Georgia, Benny and Ally is making up the kidnapping, but Georgia denies of this claim. Despite Georgia, Benny and Ally's claims that Vargas was with them, the detective still refuses to believe them before telling them to leave and stop wasting his time. As they leave the station in defeat, Georgia struggles to understand why nobody believe that Vargas was kidnapped or see her being kidnapped, but Ally believes somebody edited the footage or removed Vargas out of the footage to cover up the kidnapping. Benny suggests to finds Vargas' colleagues, friends or family and inform them about what happened to her, but Georgia tells him that they don't have any evidence and nobody will believe them. Flashback: Five minutes before Vargas' kidnapping, Dunn and O'Connor meet up with a CCTV operator who hijacks the footage from the department and erases Vargas out of all of it. As CCTV operator finishes his work, O'Connor points out Vargas is with Georgia, Benny and Ally, but Dunn tells him that he is only interested on Vargas. Back in the present day, Jennings speaks to Chapel who informs him about Shane and Willow being hospitalized on the phone. Chapel tells him that their colleagues have been unable to locate Vargas, but Larsen quickly warns Jennings off from telling Chapel about Vargas's situation. As Jennings ends the call, he confronts Larsen about the investigation. Larsen admits that his secret partner was planning to spy on Anti-Crime and search for information, but the plan backfired, which resulted in Freddy dragged Vargas into his investigation. Jennings asked Larsen why his partner kept Vargas's involvement secret from him, but Larsen admits that he was against getting more people involved for their safety. This confuses Jennings at first, until he realizes that Larsen and Freddy are working with somebody else besides Vargas in their investigation.
Meanwhile, Finn and Jonathan finally visit Shane at the hospital. She asked them what happened, and Jonathan tells her that she was found unconscious at the Wilshire Grand Center. Jonathan wants to know how Shane ends up at the top of the Wilshire Grand Center, but Shane admits that she can't recall. Then, when she asks Finn and Jonathan about Willow, they tell that she's fine. She asks to see her, but they dodge this and try to take her mind off her. But Shane continues to asked for Willow until Finn angrily lashes out at his wife, telling her that she can't see their daughter since she's not currently in the right state of mind. Shane tells Finn that she loves Willow, but he reveals that she took Willow with her to Wilshire Grand Center. Shane then tries to leave her hospital bedroom, but Finn and Jonathan refuses to let her go. She angrily shouts at them to let her see her daughter. Jonathan tries to plead with his mother, but she angrily slaps him. Finn quickly gets the doctors and nurses' attention as they enters Shane's hospital bedside and are forced to restrain and sedate her. Later, Delgado arrives at the hospital and comforts Finn about his worries for Shane and Willow. Then, Chapel and Lee arrive and tells the two that they are unable to find Vargas. Chapel asked Delgado about last time he saw her; he explains that she had to deals with Dunn and Gage after they argued in the street and afterwards, Vargas calls and told him that she was coming back, but it was hours ago. When Delgado asks if anybody is looking for Vargas, Chapel narrates that Hobbs, Reese, Jennings and Forbes are, while Scott and Lowry deal with a suspect at HQ and Larsen has also gone missing. Delgado asks Chapel and Lee about Scalieri, but they reveals that she never showed up to work and she's not answering her phone. As Delgado started to gets worried for his wife's wellbeing, Georgia interrupts the conversation and informs everybody about Vargas' kidnapping.
Meanwhile, Santana texts Freddy on Vargas' phone, asking to meet up with Los Angeles Metro Rail Station in an hour, but Freddy expresses concern about being seen in public. However, Santana tells Freddy that he knows the place near by. Despite his worries, Freddy agrees to meet "Vargas" in a hour. Dunn then arrive at Santana's office and notices that he is relieved about something. Santana tells Dunn that they've got Freddy where he wants them, explaining that he just agreed to meet up with "Vargas" near the Los Angeles Metro Rail Station. He points out that the station has 450 dome cameras installed up and down the lines, the monitor platforms, rails and other facilities throughout the station and the system sends data streams from the control site back to the cameras through the same coaxial cable used to transmit video. Dunn then asks about what will happen with Vargas after trapping Freddy. Santana reveals he won't kill Vargas and plans to set her up for Duran and Parrish's deaths, explaining that he knows a detective who is investigating the case. Santana also narrates that given Vargas's track record of recklessness and getting into trouble and Duran and Parrish's seemingly clean records, nobody will believe the two tried to kill a detective and that she killed them in self-defense. Addison overhears Dunn and Santana's conversation and calls Larsen, confirmed her involvement in his secret investigation. She reveals Dunn and O'Connor's plan to used Vargas to trapped Freddy; she also argues with Larsen, explaining that she has been caught up in the middle between the LAPD and Internal Affairs with this whole thing against Anti-Crime, but Larsen brushes her worries and tells her to keep a eye on Vargas. At the same time, Cooper visits Vargas and gives her food. She refuses to eat, but Cooper tells her that Santana wants her fit for his big plan. Confused, Vargas asks to know about Santana's plan for her, but Cooper says her that he doesn't know many details. She convinces him to find out Santana's plan for her. Cooper agrees that, but warns Vargas that he could gets caught out for trying to help her out.
Back at the hospital, Georgia tells Chapel, Lee and Delgado every details of Vargas' kidnapping and that she doesn't appear in any footages from the LAPD station near where she was grabbed, and believe she was removed. Delgado asks Georgia if Vargas drive her car to the station and believes that the team can track the car down. She reveals that Vargas did follow her, Benny and Georgia to the department, but her car mysteriously disappeared after she was kidnapped. When Chapel and Lee asked Georgia why she, Benny and Ally went to the LAPD with Vargas, Georgia reveals that Vargas was offering helps to gain access to all the evidence in Slater's disappearance and Romero's murder. Delgado share his concerns about the evidence still being in the LAPD system, but Georgia narrates Vargas' suggestion that the detective who investigated those case kept a copy of original evidence and reports. Finn asked Delgado if he knows anybody who have investigated Slater's disappearance and Romero's murder, but he denies this. Finn asked Georgia about the name of the investigating detective, but she reveals he had died suddenly and never finished the investigation. Then, Chapel receives a call from Reese who informs that Vargas's car has been found outside of JACTF HQ, but she is nowhere to be found. She also shared her suspicions about Vargas's car window after spots some marks being cleaned. As Chapel informs everybody of the discovery, Georgia reveals somebody is making sure that Vargas can't be found and that they aren't believed. Lee promise her that she believe them. At the HQ, Hobbs tells Devlin, Forbes and Lowry about the discovery of Vargas' car at outside of their station. Devlin asked Shaw if task force finds anything in any CCTV footages around the station but Shaw denied of finding anything as he show the three of Vargas' car "appearing" whole time outside of HQ. As Devlin, Forbes and Lowry share theories about what could've happened to Vargas, Salomone arrives and demands answers about Larsen's whereabouts. Devlin denies of knowing where he is, explaining to Salomone that he has another detective missing too. She then talks to Devlin about connecting rest of Larsen's family, but he says they won't be of any use to her. At the same time, Scott calls Chan and asked him for a favor as Alan is seen screaming inside of interview room. In one of the empty room, Gage is left emotional when he hears Michael's voice in one of video files on the computer and devastated to finds out about Michael's apparent involvement with Anti-Crime's dangerous activities. However, Gage starts to realized that Michael wanted out of the units weeks before his death.
Meanwhile, Diallo and Gonzalez snoop around every place at the city of Los Angeles, but cannot find anything. They then go to the hotel O'Connor and Smith were at before and speaks to the manager. As they search hotel guest book, Diallo notices O'Connor and his wife's names on that book, but doesn't realize that he was actually with Smith. Gonzalez asked hotel manager about "John Smith". The manager describes John Smith's personality; revealing that he wore a cap and scarf around his mouth, suggesting that he was unwell. Also, he grabs a laptop and bag with him. Also, the manager confirmed he has brown hair, blue eyes and looks to be in his 40s. Later, Diallo goes to John Smith's hotel room, but finds it empty. Gonzalez calls Diallo as he looks at CCTV footage of the hotel and sees "John Smith", but his face is concealed. He notices that John Smith's left leg has a limp, suggesting that he was injured. Elsewhere, at the unknown location, Santana approaches Vargas as his men drag her into the van. Later, Vercetti is driving down the highway with Santana, Dunn, O'Connor, Smith, Addison, Cooper and Trassig siting behind him with Vargas. Getting worried about what Santana and Anti-Crime has planned for her, Vargas begs Santana to don't kill her and explain that she has a younger brother and three children, one of whom is only a month old. Santana promise her that he won't kill her yet as he confirms that Freddy is planning to meet Vargas, unaware that Anti-Crime plans to trap him. Horrified at Santana's plan, Vargas tries to convince him Freddy had nothing to do with it, but Dunn and O'Connor shows her all of the messages with Freddy that they recovered from her phone, and also notes that she might've known Freddy in the past. Vargas reveals that she doesn't know Freddy's true identity but Dunn, O'Connor and Santana refuses to believe her. As Vargas warns Anti-Crime that Freddy isn't the person that Anti-Crime isn't believes him to be, Santana reminds her that he deals with anybody who tries to take him and Anti-Crime down in the past.
Meanwhile, as a group of armed police drive to Los Angeles County, Sergeant Dwayne Graff gets his team's attention and explains about his plan to capture Vargas for Duran and Parrish's deaths. Graff aims to make Vargas will pay for murdering two of his officers, not knowing that they were corrupt and working for Santana. Later, Vargas, Santana, Dunn, O'Connor, Smith, Addison and Cooper all arrives at a restaurant outside of the Los Angeles Metro Rail Station while Trassig and Vercetti stay in the van. As he sits with Dunn, O'Connor and Vargas, Santana texts Freddy on Vargas' phone, wanting to know where he is, but Freddy promises he'll be there. Then, Mayor Burke sees Santana and furiously confronts him for skipping their meeting. Santana tries to defends himself, citing that he had other business to attend to, but Burke angrily notes that he has been calling and texting him for hours, and orders him to come with him as they need to meet up with other politicians at Town Hall. Santana tries to reject Burke, but the mayor refuses to listen to him. Without any choice, Santana is forced to leave the restaurant with Burke. O'Connor grabs Vargas's phone and texts Freddy about his whereabouts. As Dunn warns O'Connor to be careful what he is texting, O'Connor promises him that he got this. At the same time, an unknown person is seen walking towards the restaurant as he receives the message from Vargas's phone but he stops in his tracks when he sees Vargas with Dunn and O'Connor. Then, O'Connor receives a message from Freddy, revealing that he wants to meet at the Rail Station instead. At the same time, Larsen and Jennings arrives outside the station as they search for Vargas. They then both see her heading inside with Dunn and O'Connor. They tries to follow Vargas but they was forced to hide when they see Salomone and her Internal Affairs team arriving. Worrying about the outcome, Larsen asked Jennings to tell Scalieri that he loved her and the twins and explain that what he did was to protect her and their family.
Meanwhile, Chan arrives at the HQ as Scott informs him about Alan's involvement with far-right political groups. He reveals Alan has been involved with the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys. Chan promise he will deal with Alan, but he warns Scott that word is, something big is coming down the pipeline for the task force. Then, Chan visits Alan and questions him about the groups that he was involved with but Alan refuses to answer anything. However, Chan reveals Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys have recently been implicated in human trafficking and slavery, and that for someone who calls himself a patriot, his involvement in such crimes makes him anything but. He then warns Alan that he will face hard time in prison, federal time even, unless he reveals everything he knows. Elsewhere, at hospital, Shane is restrained to at her hospital bed, screaming and demanding to see her daughter. Then she starts to hear Gordon's voice, taunting her and warning her that nobody will help her. A doctor speaks to Finn, Jonathan and Emily about Shane's condition as he suggests Shane to be sectioned to a mental health facility, but Finn refuse to let his wife be committed. Chelsea then arrives at Shane's house where she sees Gabrielle packing her stuff. Gabrielle blames herself for Shane's situation and suggests that she leave, but Chelsea tells her it wasn't her fault. She begs Gabrielle to stay as she opens up about having a sister that she never knew.
Meanwhile, Vargas, Dunn and O'Connor are at Los Angeles Metro Rail Station but the station gets overcrowded by a huge group of soccer fans. As the latter two become is confused about the fans, Vargas tells them that two soccer teams LA Galaxy and Portland Fire were playing against each other and the fans are heading back home. At the same time, a LAPD detective, Detective Geoff Simpson spots Vargas with Dunn and O'Connor and quickly alerts Graff, who has just arrived outside of the station. Simpson corners Vargas, Dunn and O'Connor as he suggests Vargas to come with him, but O'Connor tells Simpson that he and Dunn got the situation handled. However, Simpson refuses to listen to O'Connor and tries to drags Vargas away from him. Some soccer fans witnesses the argument and attacks Simpson and O'Connor, wrongly believing that they are assaulting Vargas. Dunn quickly alerts for back-up and tries to handle the situation, but he gets violently knocked down. Vargas runs away from the violent brawl as Graff and his team arrive at the station. At the same time, Larsen and Jennings, after having searched almost the whole station, both see Vargas running. They go after her and follow her down to one of rail line platforms. They then both search for Vargas in several different train carriages. Then, the train Jennings is searching on suddenly pulls off, leaving Larsen behind on the platform. Meanwhile, Vargas hides in a restroom, but as she tries to leave, she is violently grabbed by a masked man. She fights him off and then turns to him where she confirms her identity to the man, who then removes his mask revealing himself to be an alive Thomas Scalieri, having surviving the warehouse shooting. Thomas is horrified that he attacked Vargas again, but she assures him that he thought she was somebody else. Then, Thomas suddenly collapses. He gives Vargas the medication, Imodium, and asks her to inject him. As Vargas follows Thomas' instructions, she asked him how he's he still alive despite seemingly having bled to death after being shot twice in the stomach. Thomas admits that he came dangerously close to dying but fate had other plans for him.
Flashback to 5 months prior: Larsen arrives at the car park of the LAPD HQ, waiting for somebody. Then, Thomas turns up and tells Larsen that Ollie Slater's disappearance isn't his case, but Larsen is curious to learn what happened to him. Thomas shares that he had been suspicions about O'Connor since he spoke to him about Ollie's disappearance. One night, he followed O'Connor to the car park where Ollie was last seen before his disappearance and saw him destroy CCTV footage of the park. The following week, he sees Finn and Delgado show Addison around the workplace, and later followed Addison and found her meeting up with Manning and Blue, overhearing their conversation about Addison going undercover. As Addison left, she bumped into Thomas, who wanted to make a deal with her. He explained about his investigation of Ollie's disappearance and suspicion that Dunn and O'Connor were be involved. Addison told Thomas that she only worked with Internal Affairs. However, he reveals Internal Affairs took Slater's disappearance case out of his hands and refused to let officers from any other unit or division be involved with the investigation. Weeks later, Addison struggled to gains any evidence against Dunn and O'Connor but she became curious of the behavior of other detectives at Anti-Crime as well. She overheard O'Connor and Smith talking to Cooper about finding Ollie Slater. Addison met up with Thomas at restaurant where she reveals what she overheard, but started to have doubts over whole situation. She warned Thomas of the consequences if they got caught on snooping around Anti-Crime's business, including Thomas gets involved in Internal Affairs' investigation without their knowledge. He assures her over her worries and promises her that nothing bad will happened. As they head out, Addison gave Thomas the paper which reveals Slater's location, which he later gives to Larsen.
At Christmas, Thomas meet up with Ollie Slater in the park. Slater reveals his ledger which contains all of his discoveries of Anti-Crime's corruption. Slater tells Thomas that he believes Anti-Crime goes even further into the LAPD, but he has struggled to find any proof of his suspicions. He then asks about Ally; Thomas informs him that Ally is not in good shape and was currently in the hospital, revealing that she had been suffering from severe anxiety and an eating disorder since the video of her and Slater was exposed online. He wants to see her, but then a phone call from Larsen interrupts the chance. As Thomas promises Slater that he will help him, Slater shows him his old phone. He jokes about having two phones can have one for personal communication and work and other for entertainment. As he sets off, Slater throws his old phone in a trash can but Thomas retrieves it. Later, Thomas goes to a phone store where he has Slater's phone repaired. Shortly after, he looks through the phone and discover lots of binary codes which link to the LAPD HQ data system. Later, as he is in ambulance along with Larsen and unconscious Ramsay he being shot twice in the stomach, Thomas whispers something to Larsen. In the hospital, a doctor tells Larsen that Thomas is in stable condition, explaining that he was lucky to survive another gunshot wound. Later, Larsen visited Thomas, who reveals to him that Anti-Crime is targeting all threats to them inside and outside the police department, explaining that Slater shows him the book which reveals more discoveries that they didn't know about. Thomas tells Larsen that he got a plan, but he needs to be dead. This confuses Larsen at first, until Thomas explains full details of the plan. Larsen becomes upset with Thomas's plan and fears that it won't work. He also reminds Thomas about his family, but Thomas tells him that Amanda and him have been estranged since Halloween and he doesn't think there's hope for them this time . He convinces Larsen to help with the plan and promises him that everything is over. Without any choice, Larsen agrees the plan, and a doctor arrive and inject Thomas with a propofol, knocking him out and allowing him to fake his death.
The next day, Larsen and two police officers move Thomas to different hospital outside of Los Angeles. But the following week, he collapses in pain with bleeding. It revealed he has suffered severe traumatic internal injury, which results a risky operation. Doctor inform both detectives that Thomas needs to stay in the hospital until he fully recovers. Larsen is worried about how Thomas's operation could affect their plan. Shortly after, Thomas uses Slater's old phone to try and call Scalieri. The first time, however, he panics and hangs up, and the second time, he struggles to talk. Larsen becomes angry upon learning that Thomas tries to contact his sister, reminding him about his decision, Thomas suggests that they could gets somebody else to locate evidence against Anti-Crime for them, worrying that he may be in recovery for too long. Larsen refuses to put anybody else in danger as he points out that Internal Affairs has already put Addison undercover with Anti-Crime and Thomas put her in another situation. However, after looking through Slater's book, Thomas decides to recruit Vargas and give her direction to self storage unit. Thomas share his relief as Vargas texts him that she has found the boxes.
Back in present day, at the HQ, Devlin receives a call from Jennings who tells him that he and Larsen got separated at the rail station. Devlin asks if Larsen is still at the station; Jennings believes so and that Vargas is there too, but he is stuck on a moving train and can't find a way to return, implying that Vargas and Larsen are on their own. At same time, at town hall, Santana receives a call from Dunn who tells him that Vargas has escaped and that Freddy wants to meet Vargas in the station, but he believes it was a set up. As he sneaks out of town hall, Santana angrily grills at Dunn for failing to control his team and whole situation. Dunn promises Santana that Vargas will be dealt with as he notices Salomone, Graff and some of their team heading down the platform. Smith enters the station and rushes to comfort a bruised and bleeding O'Connor. He promises her that he is fine. As he ends up his call with Santana, Dunn become distracted as he witnesses a moment between O'Connor and Smith.
Meanwhile, back in the restroom, Vargas argues with Thomas over his decision to fake his death and abandoned his family. As Thomas defends his choices, she points out Scalieri hates her as a result of his "death", but he promises Vargas that his sister won't hate her forever; two flashbacks confirm that Thomas was the person who sends Scalieri a mysterious package for her birthday and later, overheard Vargas's voicemail to Scalieri. Then, she notices Thomas isn't in great shape. He admits one of the bullet hits at abdomen and his digestive system which cause blunt trauma and almost life-threatening damage. He reveals his doctor's warning: explaining if Thomas gets injured or shot again, he will certainly die for real. Vargas then asks him why he called himself Freddy when he sent her the messages. Thomas narrates that Freddy Krueger likes to appear in somebody's dreams despite being dead, hence why he called himself. Then, she asks about Bailey's involvement. Thomas reveals that Bailey know a secret organization which Anti-Crime may be associated with that consists of crooked cops from all over around the world, and it could hold a key to whole case but the location is anonymous. He wants Vargas's help to search for the organisation but she refuses and reminds him that they are both in too much trouble. However, Thomas reminds Vargas that she is still breathing because of him, admitting he was the one who shot Parrish. Then, Larsen arrives in the restroom and finds Vargas and Thomas. He informs them that they have a big problem because armed police and Internal Affairs officers have invaded the station and Vargas is wanted for Duran and Parrish's deaths. However, Vargas confronts him for lying to her; Larsen tries to defends himself and promise Vargas that they will finds a way to defeat the Anti-Crime Unit, but she tells him that the unit is too fearless and powerful, and she can't trust anybody outside of JACTF. Vargas quickly exits the restroom but then, Graff and some of his team members see her, who run upstairs and chase after her. Then, Larsen draws his gun out and fires into the air. Salomone and her team members quickly grabs Larsen, which allows Vargas to escape and fleeing to the bridge outside. Then, Addison appears and corners Vargas, who tells Addison that she is aware of being undercover in Anti-Crime and her involvement with Internal Affairs, Larsen and Thomas. She warns Addison to be careful of who she trust, explaining the system may turn against her if her secret revealed. As Addison lowers her gun, Santana appears and fires his gun towards Vargas, who jumps over the bridge and lands on a moving train, but catches a bullet in her shoulder.
Meanwhile, Chapel and Lee return to the HQ and inform Devlin and Forbes that they are unable to find Vargas and that Shane's condition is even worse. Scott share some positive news about the case involving Alan, revealing he confesses his involvement in Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys' activities of human trafficking and slavery and he will work alongside Chan to build a case against the group. Then Lowry alerts his colleagues to a news report on TV of the incident at Los Angeles Metro Rail Station and that an unidentified detective wanted for the murder of two police officers. Devlin receives a call from Jennings who is back outside of the station. As he asks to know about Vargas and Larsen, Jennings admits he doesn't know where Vargas is, but Larsen has been arrested by Internal Affairs. Elsewhere, Delgado and Neve arrive home and walk in on Vargas packing some bags and notice that she is bleeding. She admits that she is in serious trouble, and needs to go away to deals with the situation, worried about the safety of her family if she stays. As she promise Delgado and Neve that she will come back, Delgado tells Vargas about Shane and Willow being hospitalized. Vargas is shocked and upset over Shane's situation and feeling guilty of not being there for her friend. However, she is torn between staying in Los Angeles and supporting Shane or risking her safety and endangering her loved ones. Later, Vargas, who is wearing a disguise, sneaks into the hospital and visits a sleeping Shane at her hospital bedside, apologizing for not being able to be by her side, but explaining that she can't put her friends and family in danger and vowing to resolve everything no matter what it takes. She kisses Shane on her forehead before leave the hospital.
Meanwhile, Devlin receives a call from Larsen who is in Internal Affairs custody. As Devlin demands answers about the situation, Larsen admits that he helped Vargas escape from the police. Devlin realized from this that Vargas is the detective who is wanted for the murder of the two officers, but Larsen tells his father that the officers tried to kill Vargas. As Devlin tries to convince his son that his team will finds a way to help him and Vargas, Larsen tells Devlin that the Anti-Crime officers have turned the system against them, implying that the JACTF are on their own. Elsewhere, at the Anti-Crime HQ, Dunn talks to Santana about recent events at Rail Station. He fears Vargas will find a way to expose the truth, but Santana isn't convinced, pointing out that being wanted for the murders of two officers and escaping instead of turning herself in and trusting the system to "run its course", nobody will ever believe her. At the same time, an unseen intruder is seen pouring gasoline around the same house Duran and Parrish died in before igniting it, burning the house down.
At the end, Vargas walks along a road beneath the highway. Then a driver, whom revealed to be Thomas gets her attention. When he asked her about her plan, she explains that she will not be hunted down and suggests to hunts down the organization, expose every dirty cop involved not just in Los Angeles, but around the world and put the end to Santana and the Anti-Crime. Thomas warns Vargas the search could take weeks or longer, reminding her that the location is anonymous, but she brushes off his worries and vows to clear her name and the ones who was wronged by the damaged system. She then gets into his car as they drive out of Los Angeles.
