New Barbourofelis is a future species of big cat that resembles and behaves like the prehistoric Barbourofelis. It lives in forests and grasslands in almost all parts of North America, except Greenland, where it is too cold for the New Barbourofelis to live in. They live during the New Miocene to New Pleistocene. They also live in Alaska.

Evolution

After most people left earth, some leopards from zoos of North America had escaped from their enclosures due to dead electric fences. They adapted to a more terrestrial lifestyle and grew bigger (about the size of a Bengal tiger) and stronger. They also developed saber-teeth like the long-extinct Smilodons and a bobcat-like tail (since they no longer climb trees, they don't need such a long tail).

Biology

Just like modern lions, they live in large prides in order to hunt horses, Astridotheriums, buffaloes, bison, mammoths, zebras, and other native species. They have tiger-like stripes to camouflage themselves so they could sneak up on their unexpected prey. They are one of the main rivals of lions, as they can sometimes steal their kills. They are one of the largest species of cats of North America (along with lions). They are also more intelligent than their leopard ancestors, about as smart as macaques, being able to outsmart their lion rivals.
