Mystery Incorporated is an American teen drama series based on the 1969 animated series Scooby-Doo, Where are You! and subsequent media. The series was adapted for The CW by Ifan Barber, and is produced by Sony Television Pictures. Originally conceived as a feature film adaptation from Sony Motion Pictures in 2014, before the concept was re-imagined as a live-action television series at CBS. In 2018, the project's development moved to The CW, where the series was given a 13-episode straight-to-series order. Filming takes place in San Diego, California.

The series, which is set in the 1970s, features four main leads, two male and two female, along with an ensemble of supporting characters. Each of the leads are based on Scooby Doo characters, Nick Robinson portrays Fred Jones Jr., Florence Pugh as Velma Dinkley, Odeya Rush as Daphne Blake and Alex Wolff as Norville "Shaggy" Rogers. The series also features Scooby the Great Dane in a non-speaking capacity. Other characters include Fred's father, the town mayor; Velma's mother, who is also Shaggy's aunt, and Daphne's grandmother, as well as various other townspeople and the core four's friends and schoolmates.

The series debuted on October 3rd 2019 to positive reviews. A 22-episode second season premiered on September 30th 2020. In May 2021, The CW ordered a third season, which premiered on September 29th 2021.



  • Nick Robinson as Fred Jones, Jr., the son of Crystal Cove's mayor. He is an aspiring police officer, and the most popular student at Crystal Cove High School. He's more complicated than people think.
  • Florence Pugh as Velma Dinkley, the star pupil of Crystal Cove High School, and a self-proclaimed "rare hyrbrid" of popular nerd. She has been best friends with Fred since kindergarten, she has a secret obsession with Crystal Cove's supernatural history.
  • Odeya Rush as Daphne Blake, the head cheerleader at Crystal Cove High School, she has had a long-term on-and-off feud with Velma for as long as they've known each other, but when she experiences a supernatural occurrence at school after-hours, she turns to Velma for help.
  • Alex Wolff as Norville "Shaggy" Rogers, a lonely stoner teen who arrives in Crystal Cove to live with his Aunt Roz and cousin Velma after the death of his parents in a car accident. He arrives in Crystal Cove with his canine companion, Scooby.

  • Timothy Olyphant as Sheriff Bob McKinley, Fred's mentor and friend, who often tells him about the odd cases plaguing Crystal Cove.
  • Melora Harding as Sandy Blake, Daphne's mom and the owner of Crystal Cove's hair salon.
  • Neal McDonough as Fred Jones, Sr., Fred's cold and unloving father who is mainly politically driven, he becomes corrupted by a recently-returned Donnie Dinkley.
  • Julianna Margulies as Gina Jones, Fred's dedicated step-mother who tries to give him the life his drug addicted estranged mother couldn't. She is also Crystal Cove's go-to real estate agent.
  • Linda Lavin as Grandma Vera Blake, Sandy's mother and Daphne's grandma, she is initially seen living in Crystal Grove retirement home, but after rekindling her relationship with her daughter after a serious bout of sickness, she relocates to her daughter's house in Crystal Cove. She was once a sleuth much like her granddaughter.
  • Christian Slater as Donnie Dinkley, Roz's manipulative ex-husband and Velma's father. He returns to Crystal Cove and attempts to take over town, but after alienating everyone, he is found dead. (Season 1)
  • Amy Ryan as Melissa Dinkley, Donnie's sister who visits from New York for Donnie's funeral, and then returns to report on a string of disappearing students in Crystal Cove. (season 2)

While there, they bump into Daphne Blake, who is visiting her grandmother, and has had a supernatural experience of their own.
