Series overview

My Weird School was one of the very first animated programs to arrive on the Paradox Network. It would join The Legend of Zelda, The Junk Yard Kids, and Hobo Town, as the driving force of the net work. The original idea for the series came after the parent company of Paradox Studios, Paradox, bought out Harper Collins from NewsCorp in 2010. The head of Paradox Studios, Brooke Jordan, approached Dan Gutman with a rough draft for a My Weird School animated series.

The deal was officially signed in early 2011. The contract allowed the studio to use anything established in the My Weird School universe, as well as build one of their own. The first season, consisting of 21 episodes launched on the network on September 2nd, 2013. It was the third animated program for the network, and the second longest running only being beat by The Legend of Zelda. The first seasons introduced many characters, one of which, Neil, was voiced by Weird Al Yankovic.

The show writers decided to age up A.J. and the gang to Middle School in order to allow for more creative freedom. They decided that after the first season that each grade would be two seasons to allow for more episodes focused on characters at a specific time frame.

The series got renewed for a second season, once again consisting of 21 episodes. The second season launched on August 29th, 2014. The second seasons started establishing episodes that weren't based off of the books, and trying to establish a continuity.

The series got renewed for a third seasons, once again consisting of 21 episodes. The third seasons launched on September 4th, 2015. This season was a continuation of A.J.'s 7th grade year. The show was cancelled at the end of the season, but in late 2016, Paradox Studios renewed the show for a fourth and fifth season. The show aired on Fridays.

The fifth season had 5 episodes removed from the lineup for unknown reasons. The fifth season was also poorly reviewed by fans and critics, so the show was cancelled.

On March 29th 2019, it was officials announced that a spin-off show called My Weird Fast Facts, based off the My Weird Fast Facts series of My Weird School. The show would be the main cast of My Weird School giving out lot's of weird facts. It was green-lit for 15 episodes. The first episode was dated to air on April 16th of that same year.

The sixth season was confirmed for early September, but was delayed to the end of the month. The season would feature almost entirely new story lines and would consist of 16 episodes to keep writers from feeling exhausted of ideas.

The seasons story revolves around A.J. and his friends as they enter high school and dealing with their new freedoms, and their new responsibilities. One of the main plots of the season is a school wide cold war between two students, Sienna and Brenna.

Following the success of season 6, the show was renewed for a seventh and eight seasons. Season eight intending to be the final season, and the plots being written to fit such an agenda. Season 7 and 8 would go back to the 21 episode format, and would continue season 6s pattern of trying to tell a story with original concepts and less focus on the continueity of the school year. The show would officially end with 158 episodes, second only to the Legend of Zelda, with it's 172 episodes and the fact that it was still ongoing, and ahead of Hobo Town with its 102 episodes.

Spin-Off

My Weird Fast Facts

The show entered early development in later 2017 and aired in early 2019. It got renewed for a second season after Dante Tanners and Danielle Burke begged the studio to let them do a second season due to how much fun they had with the first one.
