Mixed Up is a crossover fighting game that features characters from three fighting games (Tekken, Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter), three children series (Winx Club, Descendants and K-Pop Demon Hunters), guest characters and original made characters. It contains seven installments.

Gameplay[]

Gameplay properties are the same ones used in Tekken 8. It contains five regular game modes. Story Mode made for the other characters of the roster besides the two main characters for each installment (this was replaced by normal Arcade Battle in the seventh installment), Ghost Battle, Team Battle, Time Attack and Survival. Each installment contains two mini-games, Scenario Campaign made for the storyline of the two main characters of each installment (this was replaced by Tekken Force mode in the seventh installment) and Bowling. An additional mode called Practice is available to learn other characters moves. Theater is available to watch cutscenes and jukebox is available to switch or listen to music.

Scrapped Characters[]

Trivia[]

  • Each character appears in three different installments.
  • Each playable character has six default outfits, all of which having two different color schemes.
  • Stages used are from Tekken 4, Tekken 5, Tekken 6, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Tekken 7 and Tekken 8. Originally, stages from Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter were going to be featured until they were scrapped.
  • Mokujin from Tekken is also a playable character in Mixed Up, though it plays differently compared to Tekken and compared to all playable characters:
    • Mokujin does not have a separate character slot. It serves as a bonus character by being a seventh default outfit for all characters in all games (including those that do not feature Tekken characters). All male characters and Leo use the male variant while all female characters use the female variant. Since it is a bonus character, Mokujin cannot be customized.
    • Unlike in Tekken, Mokujin does not switch move sets between rounds. It uses the move set of the character that was highlighted to select Mokujin. As a result, it will have a random theme color on its health bar.
    • Since Mokujin is a seventh default outfit for every character, all games does not consider it as a separate character. Necessary records for Mokujin will instead be given to the highlighted character. Mokujin cannot also be fought as an AI bot.
    • Mokujin cannot be used in Scenario Campaign (from Mixed Up to Mixed Up: Armageddon). Mokujin can be played in Tekken Force mode (from Mixed Up: Hall of Fame), with all of it's bosses being Mokujin itself, just like in Tekken 3.
  • Each series has a theme color given to their characters to distinguish them. Each character's theme color is shown through their health bar, Ghost Battle selection palettes, ranking palettes, and result palette. The colors used are:
    • Blue (Tekken)
    • Red (Dead or Alive)
    • Green (Virtua Fighter)
    • Purple (Winx Club)
    • Cyan (Descendants)
    • Pink (K-Pop Demon Hunters)
    • Yellow (Guest Characters)
    • Orange (Original Characters)
    • Silver (Final Bosses)
  • The series continue is just like Tekken 7. However, it has different continue music and the music chosen depends on the stage the player lost at (i.e. if the player loses in a stage from Tekken 5, the continue music from said game will play). Since Tekken 8 did not have a continue screen, the music that plays is the one heard during the credits of the Bad Ending of Tekken 8 story mode.
  • In all Mixed Up games prior to Mixed Up: Hall of Fame, the protagonist and deuteragonist are not playable in Story Mode (due to them being main characters in Scenario Campaign). However, either of the two serve as a Stage 9 opponent before the boss battle.
  • During practice mode, each character (during a move demo of their selected move) will demonstrate their selected move on a dummy assuming Jin Kazama's stance. The dummy is different depending on the characters.
    • Tekken characters will demonstrate their moves on a humanoid with robotic features. This is the same dummy used in Tekken 7 and 8.
    • Dead or Alive characters will demonstrate their moves on a grey humanoid. This is the same dummy in Tekken 4.
    • Virtua Fighter characters will demonstrate on a white dummy that looks like Mokujin. This is the same dummy used in Tekken 5, although redesigned to look like Tetsujin in Tekken Revolution.
    • Winx Club characters will demonstrate their moves on Combot.
    • Descendants characters will demonstrate their moves on a dummy wearing a knight costume.
    • K-Pop Demon Hunters characters will demonstrate their moves on scrapped Playable character, Cybertron.
    • Guest Characters will demonstrate their moves on Kenny Crow from Final Fantasy XV.
    • Original Characters will demonstrate their moves on a Mokujin model dummy. This is the same dummy used in Tekken 6 and Tag Tournament 2.
  • There were a few original made characters that were planned for Mixed Up, but ended up being scrapped from the final cut for various reasons:
    • Two animal masked wrestler characters, similar to Basher and Rueben, were planned to be playable, but were scrapped as it was decided to only have two more wrestler characters with an animal mask that causes them to speak like an animal. Those are Toast (a wrestler in a rabbit mask) and Bruno (a wrestler in a horse mask).
    • Five non-human characters were initially planned, but were scrapped as it was decided that all original characters are human. Those are Cybertron (a gold mechanic robot), Blacky (a black panther), Stripy (a tiger), Gray (a gray wolf), and Venume (a mutated being, which is a half bear half bat)
    • It was decided that the nationalities used for the original characters are Filipino, Korean, and Japanese. Two original characters were scrapped as their nationalities don't meet the criteria and are impossible to modify them to match either three. Those are Justin Grant (an American fighter) and Tyler Johnson (an African fighter).
    • There were a few more characters that met the nationality criteria, but were scrapped to trim down the amount of characters and to make room for more series characters. Those are eight Filipino characters (AJ Villa, Cesca Carbone, Faith Enrile, Gavin Sandoval, Thomas Paulo, James Cooper, Jacine Lim and Julius Ong), three Japanese fighters (Yuki Kato, Keiko Aoki, and Mai Suzuki) and a Korean fighter named Kil Dong Eun.
  • Despite the removal of the characters, their elements were reused as generic customization items and given to unplayable characters and some of the original characters that made it to the final cut.
    • Toast and Bruno's masks, and Blacky's head served as generic headwear items. Toast's outfit was then given to Mason Perez as a second default outfit (minus the rabbit mask).
    • Cybertron and Venume's default appearance were used as third and fourth default outfits for Jared Olsen. The former also serves as a Practice mode demonstration dummy for the characters from K-Pop Demon Hunters.
    • Gavin Sandoval's outfit was given to David Santos as a sixth default outfit. Prior to being cut, Stripy was cut, but his pattern was used for Gavin Sandoval's initial outfit.
    • Thomas Paulo and Tyler Johnson's outfits were given to Nam Seo Jun as a fifth default outfit, sporting both color schemes.
    • Yuki Kato's outfit was given to Izumi Tomita as a second default outfit.
    • Jacine Lim, Cesca Carbone and Mai Suzuki's outfit was given to Choi Kelly as a second, third and fifth default outfit. Jacine's color scheme and hair color was also reused for the primary outfit of Jeon Penny
    • Faith Enrile's outfit was given to Ayaka Hashimoto as a fourth default outfit.
    • Julius Ong and AJ Villa's outfits were given to Luke Flores as a fourth and fifth default outfit.
    • Keiko Aoki's outfit served as a generic customization outfit for female characters, like in Tekken 7.
    • Kil Dong Eun's appearance was reused for Lim Ju Won (Lim Dong Jun's father, who appeared in some of the Scenario Campaign cutscenes of Mixed Up 4), only modified to look older.
    • Justin Grant's primary outfit was given to Mason Perez as his primary outfit.
    • Gray's head served as a unique headwear item and item move for Jared Olsen, where he can summon a wolf spirit to attack the opponent from behind.
    • James Cooper's primary outfit was given to Norman Aquino as a sixth default outfit.
  • Some of the original made characters in the game previously had different nationalities before they were changed to meet the criteria, which resulted in name changes.
    • James Cooper, Jared Olsen and Peter Clark were originally American fighters before their nationalities were switched to Filipino. Similarly, Luke Flores was going to be an Australian fighter, before his nationality was changed to Filipino. Their names remain unchanged, however.
    • Roh Dante and Ritsuko Agawa were originally Chinese fighters with different names (the former was originally named Tang Zimo while the latter was originally named Mei Li). Their nationalities were changed to Korean and Japanese, respectively, which resulted in their name changing.
    • Queenie Pena was originally a Thai fighter named Malee Saetang, but was changed to a Filipino that resulted in her name changing.
    • Jordan Bantillan, Francine Baylon, Aliyah Calungsod and Mikhali Pena were originally American fighters with different surnames (Pegorino, Simpson, Orlando and Wilson, respectively) but were changed to Filipino, resulting in their surname changing.
  • Characters from other series (such as Mortal Kombat, My Little Pony, Monster High, A Bug's Life, Monster's Inc, Big Hero 6, Frozen, and Strawberry Shortcake) were planned to be playable but were scrapped to trim the amount of characters, avoid inconsistencies and to make the gameplay mechanics the same as Tekken. Sulley from Monster's Inc would be added again as a guest character, along with Woody from Toy Story. Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat was planned to be added again as a guest character, but was scrapped.
  • Some other guest characters were planned to be playable (such as Luke from Street Fighter, Puss In Boots, Wreck-It Ralph, Mai Shiranui from King of Fighters, Blue from Blue's Clues, and Dora The Explorer) but were scrapped.
  • All female human characters (except for the female characters from Descendants and Yumeko Jabami) have at least one default outfit containing a midriff.
  • All the characters from Descendants and guest characters Ai Hoshino and Yumeko Jabami are the only playable characters where their ending cutscenes prior to Mixed Up: Hall of Fame are in live-action. All other characters instead use CGI cutscenes.
  • With the exception for Noctis and Clive, all characters not from Tekken (including characters from Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter) reuse move sets of characters from said game.
  • The only Tekken characters whose move sets are not reused by any character are Alisa Bosconovitch, Azucena, Bob, Christie Monteiro, Eddy Gordo, Heihachi Mishima, Jack, Jun Kazama, Katarina Alves, Kuma, Panda, Roger Jr. and Shaheen.
    • However, some of these characters have their move set used by the final boss of the the first six installments. Salaem and Chronos reuse Heihachi Mishima's moveset, Christina Campos and Kang Na Kyung reuse Jun Kazama's moveset, Tomohiro Hino reuses Shaheen's moveset, and Festoon reuses Jack's moveset.
