Miss Night and Day (Cantonese: 她的日與夜 Jyutping: taa1 dik1 jat6 jyu5 je6) is a 2007 Hong Kong romantic fantasy comedy film produced and directed by Daryl Lee and written by Justin Chan, and starring Nancy Tso, Joey Wong, Chow Yun-fat and Dennis Tsui. In the film, a 30-year-old woman (Wong) who magically switches between her 20s and 50s lands an internship at the Prosecution Service and gets caught between two generations and a tough boss.

The film was released in Hong Kong by Fox-Columbia TriStar-Warner Pictures on 21 July 2007. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, it was a box-office bomb, grossing $17 million against a HK$21 million budget.

Plot synopsis[]

Mak Ka-yan is a single woman in her 30's. She has been struggling to find a decent job for years. While preparing to get a job, she does part-time work and obtains skill certificates. One day, when she wakes up in the morning, she finds herself in the body of someone in her 50's. Since then, when the sun rises, she becomes the person in her 50's. During the night, she returns to her 30's self. She takes her tragedy as an opportunity to get a job. During the day, she begins to work as an intern at the Sham Shui Po District Prosecutors' Office with the name of Cheung Pak. She works for Wong Wing-fung. Even though she appears as a woman in her 50's, she is an all-round intern who can easily accomplish various tasks.

Meanwhile, Wong is a prosecutor who works on drug cases at the Sham Shui Po District Prosecutors' Office. He is smart and handsome, but he is a perfectionist, who doesn’t tolerate mistakes, and his life revolves around his work. Due to his extreme attitude, his staff members usually quit one after the other. He decides to hire Cheung and he somehow gets involved with Mak during the night.

  • Dennis Tsui as Wing-wah, a member of Hong Kong's top idol group, Full Boys, who recently conscripted in the military.
