Metro Television Network (simply known as Metro) is a television network in Aurora.
It debuted in 1975 as a system of transmitters in Portville Autonomous City, Clementine County, and Greene County, originating from flagship station AKGN-TV 44. In 1992, its then-parent-company, Mediawest, started expanding by acquiring stations across Aurora. However, common network branding was not introduced until 1996.
It was acquired by Brent Cablesystems in 1999, which sold its media assets to cable channel operator and children’s TV producer, Trigon Entertainment, in 2002. Metro remains owned by Trigon today.
