The movie begins with Batman driving through the streets of a destroyed Metropolis while Zod and Superman fight in the background, we see Robin (Jaden Martell), trying to help people, he enters a building, hearing a baby crying and goes up, only to find several goons wearing Clown masks, Robin is beaten up with a crowbar by Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), wearing her classic outfit, she ties Robin to a chair and a figure steps from out of the darkness, the Joker (Cameron Monagham) with a crowbar, he starts beating the boy wonder, the chair drops to the floor and a bloody Robin opens his eyes to see the gang escaping, the last thing Robin sees while still alive is a Superman-like figure, flying towards the building and completely destroying it, killing him. Batman rushes into the building and carries Robin's corpse out, screaming in grief. We then pan away from this horrible act to see news reports portraying Superman as both a menace and a symbol of hope. A TV is turned off, Clark Kent gets his jacket on and gets ready to go to the Daily Planet.
There, Clark learns more about the Batvigilante, and he decides to go to investigate along with Jimmy Olsen to Gotham, where they learn more things about Batman. Meanwhile, senator Lex Luthor and owner of Lexcorp, presenting himself to the Elections in privacy tho, he argues with his fellow coworkers about how Superman is a threat to humanity that must be stopped, Clark discovers that some of the economical resources in Wayne Enterprises are used to substain a secret military force. He is sent to a party celebrating Wayne Enterprises and Lexcorp's union to rebuild Metropolis, while we see Bruce Wayne, who discovers that Lexcorp has more information on Superman, perhaps a way to defeat it, he hops into the Batmobile and rushes out to the building, where he manages to get rid of all the guards and get into a secret room, he finds a computer and hacks it, reading that there's a way to defeat Superman, a material called codenamed Kryptonite, and that several tons of this material are going to be delivered to LexCorp soon, he also sees a picture of Wonder Woman and a mysterious file called 'Metahumans', but instead of checking it, he escapes when more guards intervene. He arrives in the Wayne Manor where Alfred tells him to get dressed, since he's got a party to attend.
Clark arrives at the party with Bruce, the tension grows as Bruce discovers a person extremely similar to Wonder Woman, Luthor walks in to greet both of them, manipulating both of them, quickly deducing that Batman's Bruce due to the fact that he was late to the party just after Batman infiltrated in the Lexcorp building and due to Clark's attitude towards Bruce, he offers Clark and interview and both of them walk off while Bruce investigates more about Diana. The party ends and next night, Bruce gets dressed as Batman to go to infiltrate the delievering of Kryptonite to Wayne Enterprises, after fighting off the Lexcorp goons, Bruce finds the Kryptonite and steals it, however, Superman lands to comfront Batman, after a quick fight, Batman is easily defeated and Superman removes his mask, discovering he's Bruce Wayne, and promising him that he won't tell anyone his secret identity if he stops being Batman, Bruce follows Superman to Clark's apartment, discovering that he is infact Clark Kent, he escapes through the window before Clark can do anything tho. Next day, Lex Luthor is informed that the Kryptonite was stolen, he knows it's Batman though, so he doesn't do anything. Meanwhile in Wayne Manor, Bruce starts making weapons with the Kryptonite, a powered Batarmor and Kryptonite-Powered gadgets. Lex convenes a trial for Superman due to all the crimes he has committed, Superman arrives and after seeing all the destruction that he's left behind from his battle with Brainiac, he is devastated, Lex takes him to a private room where he tells him that he can work for the United States to avoid all this controversy, Superman agrees and we see a montage of him doing questionable missions. As a last mission, Lex tells Superman to stop the Batman for once and for all.
Superman and Batman, with his new Kryptonian suit, meet on the roof of the GCPD building, Batman easily beats Superman, grabs him by the neck and pulls him closer, reciting him the following text: "I want you to remember to stay out of my way, in all the years to come in your most private moments, I want you to remember the one man who beat you.", a metallic clap is heard is the distance as Lex Luthor hops down from a building in his metallic green and purple armor, smiling, Superman is vulnerable and Batman has been weakened from the fight, when he's ready to kill them. Wonder Woman ravages in to save both of them, the three of them easily beat Lex, who's now on the floor, weakened, however he tells them that he knows each one of them's secret identities and that everyone they know is in danger if they're killed. He chuckles and says "Why did I had to remind you of that... perhaps this is not enough... perhaps you need an extra lesson..." He gets up, grabbing Superman's neck with his last strength and snapping it." Bruce screams and goes to kill Lex, but he raises up a small control panel, where he can easily just press a button to blow up the entirety of Wayne Manor and the GCPD building, when his only loved beings are. He backs away and Lex smiles, getting out of the suit and walking towards the sunrise. It's revealed that Lex had won the elections.
A memorial is held for Superman in Metropolis. Clark is also declared dead, with various friends and family members including Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince attending his funeral in Smallville. Martha gives an envelope to Lois, which contains an engagement ring from Clark. After the funeral, Bruce expresses his regrets to Diana about how he failed Superman. He reveals to her that he plans to form a team of metahumans, starting with those from Luthor's files, to help protect the world in Superman's absence.
Mid-Credits Scene.[]
We see a prision, a guard punches a prisioner (Lian McLyntre), who grumbles and walks off to a table, where we see a giant lizard-like humanoid creature eating some chicken, it's Killer Croc. They chat a bit about how Superman's dead and the camera pans away to reveal a monitor, Lex Luthor watches the duo talk and says 'Add them to the list'. This foreshadows Justice League.
Post-Credits Scene.[]
A dart is thrown to a poster of Batman, a person (whose face is not shown) yawns and gets up, turning off the TV showing reports of Superman's death, he walks through a crappy house, tripping a bit until reaching a secret room, the person smiles and picks up an object, before putting it on, a red mask, Red Hood's mask. This foreshadows Batman. Gotham Knight.
