Madeline de Paradís is the Captain (Commanding Officer) of the Elite Unit of Corporate Bilawyel Careers (EUCBC), as well as the Head of Corporate Attorney Factions in New York City. She is a current presiding factor over Tanaka Byrne, Inc. as of season 3.
History[]
Madeline is first called over to Tanaka Byrne, Inc. for commanding inspection for the EUCBC, where she quickly involved herself in an investigation of a wealthy cattle farmer accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a NYPD police officer. While talking to Robyn Tanaka about the case, Madeline ultimately discovers a defense relating to an insufficient timeline that led Robyn to win the case. Madeline then assigns herself as one of the presiding factors of the firm. (RD: "Organ")
Madeline then returned to the firm after the arrest of Claudia Tanaka, in which she comforted Robyn and told her that she is not alone. In a flashback, it is revealed that Madeline's mother, Evelyn de Paradís, had murdered three young men while Madeline was in university. Her mother was promptly arrested and a trial ensued, and her mother was ultimately found guilty. However, she hanged herself in her cell just 6 months into her prison sentence, shattering Madeline for a long time. The two then share a hug. (RD: "Chapter 20")
Madeline joined as precident over the investigation into the murder of Julen Sabaté. She later writes a warrant to search over Sabaté's childhood home, where evidence was found that led to a concludilar defense for Lily Sabaté. Madeline later helped Robyn and Sonia piece together a closing defense, which Madeline ultimately signed off on and took the firm out for drinks after they had won the case. (RD: "Aeschylus' Oresteia")
Madeline was contacted by Alberto Enríquez, the Bureau Chief Assistant District Attorney of the Hate Crimes Task Force, after he had picked up a case of a homophobic terrorist attack in the Bronx, and that the Bureau that been accused of bias and had been put under investigation. Madeline quickly took over the investigation and interviewed each member of the Bureau closely, including Enríquez and Sydney Ozawa, and concluded her report in-time for Enríquez to prosecute the offenders. Madeline then assigned a new presiding factor for the Hate Crimes Bureau and signed over the atterical rights. (HC: "Too Brave, "Too Charitable")
It was revealed that Madeline had both tenure in North Africa and Antarctica when still an investigator for the International Elite Crimes Unit, which she retells to Robyn due to recent evidence pointing to one of those earlier cases. She and her partner at the time, Elite Agent Finn Thompson, chased a group across Africa and ultimately the Chilean-territory of Antarctica where she and Thompson discovered evidence relating to a political collusion that will happen between Europe and North America in 2026. Madeline handled evidence and had witness statements, however all of them were murdered before their testimonies were granted jurisdiction. Madeline and Robyn later conclude that the collusion-plot is coming nearer and nearer, casting their suspicion on European minister, Orianne Boulet. (RD: "Desmonema Glaciale")
